Because it would be the network all our banks might use?  As in...  we will have no choice in the future...

Ripple is coming after banks.

Also, if you're comparing the Ripple network with Paypal or Neteller, then it's clear that you have not done your research.  Imagine if all the major crypto exchanges become Ripple gateways, we would have one SUPER EXCHANGE in Ripple.  You hear that?  SUPER MEGA EXCHANGE.  If you thought moving crypto from point A to point B was easy...  Ripple will make it easier.  Assuming all exchanges are Ripple gateways that is....

Banks are give xrp's for free by the millions with a clause that they cant sell before a certain time in lieu to state publicly that they use the Ripple network, not xrp's.
The fast majority of "available" coin have this clause attached including jebs 10 billion stash.

99% of times no xrp is needed you go straight from fiat to bitcoin or whatever you want to change (frequent flyer points, phone credit,.....) Only in the most extreme circumstances  will you need a xrp (exchanging you cats tail with a square hose shoe......)

Lastly if a Bank closes up shop or Ripple is the same thing your stuffed. All is gone, totally different to bitcoin as long as you dont have your bitcoins on an exchange and it closes up. You might as well keep your fiat, banks are far safer than some company you deal with over the net, most likely in a foreign land.

The current price is mega inflated, if not banks would buy like crazy instead of waiting its time to dump.
Educate yourself before trowing away money.

1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: could ripple be the new bitcoin and go up in value? on: April 30, 2015, 11:46:59 AM
I don't think so.
Ripple coin supply keeps increasing.
I don't think it will be as successful as bitcoin if its supply keep increasing rapidly.

100,000,000,000 XRP were created at the outset of the network, by its founders, and portion of those were gifted to Ripple Labs. Here is an explanation of why that total specific number of XRP units was chosen. No new XRP can ever be created, and the total supply constantly decreases---as small portion of XRP are destroyed with every transaction.

Many have been confused on this topic, due to how Ripple is represented on sites like coinmarketcap.com. Available supply has increased over time, as Ripple Labs continues to distribute its XRP holdings, but total supply has only ever decreased. Calculating market capitalization according to available supply of XRP is in some ways similar to calculating Bitcoin market cap according to mined Bitcoins, as opposed to the total number that will ever be mined. Initially, coinmarketcap.com calculated XRP market cap according to total supply and received criticism that the number was misleading, since it did not represent the total number of XRP potentially available at market.

lol, its giving it away for free to banks by the millions with a clause that they can not dump instantly in an exchange to publicly state that they will support it. suckers can buy them at an hyper-inflated price. this clause also completely warps the "available" supply and fight over a very small amount of coins nowhere near the stated available supply on coinmarketcap. in endeffect the have the same power as a bank it the close shop your done.
technicaly it should not be listed on cmc, but he they are just another receiver of free gifted coins, eager to dispose of.
there is no reason to go up in value as the coin is not really needed by ripple laps.
no xrp is needed to go from fiat to bitcoin to frequent flyer points or to whatever else.
bitcoin needs miners, ripple needs fish to bite the fishers o so tasty worm.

1249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: where does ripple's market cap comes from? on: April 15, 2015, 07:36:09 PM
its as fake as anything, literally a fairy number representing centralization at its best
By the press of a button the marketcap increased by $ 100 000 000 on 26 th of August from $40,373,290,506 to $140,373,290,506 with no volume, pure magic
jeb holds 10 billion and is hostile to the coin, the dev holds billions and banks are given millions when they did announce to use it but part of the deal is that they are not allowed to sell for x amount of time. It results that 35bil is the true available supply and people squabble only over a few millions.
it is nuclear waste

btw its not Ripples it is XRP's, ripple is the company issuing the xrp coin

yes its a bit small but would it matter?
Because they are delusional as hell to think their safe libertarian haven is going to work in between all these countries to boot. It's going to be just another fiscal paradise for the rich.
you mean monaco, cayman islands, luxemburg, jersey,  Nevada and Wyoming..... become concurrence

1255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / This is pathetic on: April 10, 2015, 09:15:07 PM

Just checked coinmarketcap and had a look at volumes noticed Swarm had $12 and InstandDEX $11 worth of trades the last 24h on a global scale (less than a cent in fees). I know nothing about the particular coins but this is pathetic. We are not talking about coins ranked in the hundreds, but top 25 cryptocoins.
Should coinmarketcap have a filter of say $1000 worth of volume on 24h, this is still very generous considering we are talking about global trades (heck i exchanged more $ with my friends in this time period). Of course $10k
would be more realistic.

Edit: also a 28% rise on $12 WTF

Health of any coin is measured by volume not marketcap (excluding in-house exchanges and no fee trades)
