41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Tube Setup [HD] on: September 06, 2014, 03:53:15 AM
The DC/DC chip on ethernet controller handles inputs from 5 to 12V. We tested cases of 5V and 12V and both work.

We also tested the temperature using thermal pads and not using. There are only negligible differences. This is why we marked them as optional. On the other hand, the current thermal pad solution may introduce bubbles which worsens the temperature in some local area. So we do no install them by default, but still ship them along in case there is any rare situation when the back of PCB is damaged and becomes conductive.
42  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread [Round2, Price Down to <1btc per TH/s] on: September 02, 2014, 08:47:55 AM
is a 1000W PSU enough ?
Generally yes. But the power loss on PSU would get higher.
43  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread [Round2, Price Down to <1btc per TH/s] on: September 01, 2014, 02:17:51 AM
Coupon rule:

For each device purchased, you get a 0.05 btc coupon. The price of each new purchased device can only be reduced by one coupon. Coupon works not only for round 2 sales, but also all future devices that are priced at more than 0.05 btc each.
44  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread [Round2] on: August 31, 2014, 12:28:17 PM
Price adjusted to 7.9 btc per set.

Round 1 purchasers get a coupon of 0.05 btc per device. (0.5 btc per set, 0.0125 btc per hashing unit)

Round 2 purchasers bought at the price before price adjustment get refunds of the price difference, preferrably to the payment source address.

All coupons and refunds happen only between our direct purchasers and us.

46  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 22, 2014, 10:28:09 AM
We observed some cases that the boards are bent, detached from the heatsink due to the not using of washers, or screwing too tight from the handle to the fan. This will cause unexpected behavior since the wires inside boards may break, or some parts will overheat because of bad attachment to heatsinks.
47  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 22, 2014, 07:35:18 AM
hi
can i get answers for questions below from manufacturer? thanks
Please use the connector closest to the ethernet socket on the controller to connect to boards.

The order of board addresses is not important, the specific numbers are not important as well.
You only need to keep each boards' addresses different when connecting them to the same controller.

You can test each board or device separately with the same ethernet controller.

For example. If you have a device addressed at 0,1,2,3 and the other device addressed at 7,10,21,5 (just random numbers not overlapping with 0,1,2,3), they can be connected to the same controller. They can also mine separately with different controllers.
48  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER TUBE first look :) IKEA style miner first time ever on: August 21, 2014, 05:14:10 PM
Do not forget to insert the ivory color washer (4 per device) between
the handle and the fan when screwing the fan onto the cooling kit.
It serves the protection of the PCB when screwing.
49  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #1 on: August 21, 2014, 04:36:37 PM
We apologize for this groupbuy's delivery time.

It's caused by a combination of three factors:

1. A one-day delay from the miscommunication from the sales department
to the logistics company.
2. The time of shipping from the logistics company to Hong Kong DHL.
3. The unexpected overfilling of DHL between 19th to 21st. This also
affected two other customers by 1-2 days.

To prevent it from happening again for this groupbuy as well as
overseas customers, we will fix the shipping process and choose more
direct shipping methods on demand.
50  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 21, 2014, 02:29:29 PM

You can type 192.168.0.254:8000/FlashMega on your web browser to update to the
newest firmware on each hashing unit (no internet connection is needed). After that
you can type 192.168.0.254:8000 to access the configuration page.

i don't get this fully.
So, I will have to have my laptop setup manually on 192.168.0.X subnet, then connect with ethernet cable to tube?
Why internet connection is not needed to download firmware?
what if my network is on 10.X.X.X? Will tube function properly?
After you connect to the ethernet controller, you can change all four sections of its IP afterwards.
51  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 20, 2014, 03:27:15 PM
The shipping process is:

1. We ship the parcel to our local logistics company. If we have more than a few hundred
to ship at one time, the company will come and pick them up.

2. The logistics company ship them to Hong Kong DHL (preferred), or Hong Kong UPS/Fedex
if DHL shipments are overfilled.

3. Hong Kong DHL ship them to the target location.

It is usually slower than shipping directly with DHL, but it reduces the risk of exportation
investigation. It also reduces the cost of shipping so that we could keep the free shipping
policy for longer time.
52  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 20, 2014, 08:05:08 AM
So I received mine today & finished assembling them. When powered on I can get it to identify all 4 boards. However only 1 or 2 will mine. The board that mines isn't always #1. It seems to be random (after mining for approx 10 minutes Asics on the good board start to go bad). The dip switches are done correctly. How they are powered isn't the issue. Originally was using a 1200w psu. Added another 850 with each board having 2 pci-e. Didn't make a difference.  Have also used different controllers.
Any ideas or something that I am missing?  Have tried 3 of 10 with same results so far

Try this:

You can type 192.168.0.254:8000/FlashMega on your web browser to update to the
newest firmware on each hashing unit (no internet connection is needed).

If you already changed the controllers' IP. Please just append /FlashMega to the real URL
in your web browser.
53  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 19, 2014, 02:33:27 PM
1. The miner can not directly run with f2pool. If you want to mine on f2pool, you need a PC or a raspberry PI
with a mining proxy. The ethernet controller needs to be pointed to the proxy instead of the pool.

2. We now offer the shipping of fully assembled devices. If you need them to be shipped as a whole please specify
in your order. We still prefer separate shipping though, because it will reduce the potential shipping damage significantly.

3. The ethernet controller needs a 12V 1A DC input. You could either use a separate AC/DC for it, or wire one
directly from your PSU for the hashing boards.

4. Shipping to countries outside mainland China is free.

From the specs, it says:

Powering: 1-2 6pin PCI-E plugs per hashing unit.
A full set of device consists of: 4 hashing Units

So: What PSU do you recommend for this puppy ??
Is there even one with 8 PCI-e ?
Do the PCI-e in CHAIN count for 2 ?

1 is enough. 2 is for safety in case you don't have good cables, 2 also brings less cable power loss.

Thanks! But still; I need a PSU with at least 4 PCI-e. Which one?
Also: Does the 1 cable wit 2 PCI-e count as 2 REAL connectors ? Becaus the'r in chain though ...
It's of course better than just 1 cable with 1 PCI-e, because the current on each PCI-e connector is halved.

57  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 12, 2014, 12:38:04 PM
To clarify, is it 0.215 per device for under 400 devices per order? And 0.208 per device for over 400 devices per order?

My understanding is that the hashing unit referes to one of the four boards that each full set consists of. Then all other components are required and it is a somewhat DIY assembly. I am slightly confused as to if the thermal pads is for single chips? Meaning 24 of the thermal pads would be required?
1 pad for each unit.

You can also use thermal grease or any thermal pads with >2W/(M*K).
58  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 12, 2014, 12:36:07 PM
Very interesting prices. Good work Friedcat. Just for clarification what quantity of each part is required for a full set? Any chance of offering a bundle discount when purchasing full sets of components?
A full set:

4 hashing units
4 thermal pads (optional)
1 to 1/8 ethernet controller (multiple devices can share one controller)
1 cooling kit set
1 fan

There are no discounts when purchasing full sets. Instead we would like to motivate
the opposite: you can save money with sharing the ethernet controller,
preparing your own cooling solution and fans, reusing your old PSUs, etc.
59  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 12, 2014, 12:29:29 PM
great price!

i am sure i will order a few.

can we see video of hashing unit and screenshoots from www interface?

how many units one controller can handle?

thanks
There are many other X24-based mining devices already implemented. For example:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=723445

They are using the same design and CAD drawing as our original X24 design.

Each controller can handle as many as 32 units.

60  Bitcoin / Hardware / Block Erupter Tube Sales Information Thread [Round4, Price at <1btc per TH/s] on: August 12, 2014, 11:18:57 AM
Block Erupter Prisma (1.4TH/s with less W/G) will be shipped in October. Please see:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=791827.0

for details.

Brief
ASICMiner Tube is based on the X24 open source design for BE200.

PCB File: https://github.com/blockerupter/AM_BE200_X24

CAD: https://github.com/blockerupter/AM_Tube

Spec
Hashrate: 200-215GH/s per hashing unit in normal mode, 800-850GH/s per full set.

Power consumption: ~0.9 J/GH board-wise. Gets higher along with
ambient temperature. On-wall power consumption relies on PSU efficiency.

Size: 25cmx12cmx12cm per full set.

Weight: 5.2kg per full set.

Powering: 1-2 6pin PCI-E plugs per hashing unit.

The hashing units are driven by ethernet controllers. Each ethernet controller
can run up to 32 units.

A full device consists of:

4 hashing units
4 thermal pads (optional, on demand)
1 to 1/8 ethernet controller (multiple devices can share one controller)
1 cooling kit
1 fan

After connecting the ethernet controller to hashing units, you can
type 192.168.0.254:8000/FlashMega on your web browser to update to the
newest firmware on each hashing unit (no internet connection is needed). After that
you can type 192.168.0.254:8000 to access the configuration page.

When assembling, do not forget to insert the ivory color washer (4 per device) between
the handle and the fan when screwing the fan onto the cooling kit.
It serves the protection of the PCB when screwing.

We observed some cases that the boards are bent, detached from the heatsink due to the not using
of washers, or screwing too tight from the handle to the fan. This will cause unexpected behavior
since the wires inside boards may break, or some parts will overheat because of bad attachment to heatsinks.
