801  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Best amd driver and sdk + miner combo for windows 7 with 5970's? on: March 14, 2012, 05:41:34 AM
What's worked for me (in Windows):

1.  Install desired version of Catalyst.
2.  Go into Uninstall Manager, do a custom uninstall of Catalyst and tell it to remove only the SDK.
3.  Download the SDK (2.1?) archive.  Open it with something like WinRAR and find the 2.1 Dev .msi file and run that.

And you should be good to go.

803  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] $100 Amazon Gift Card for Just 14 BTC! 1 left! on: March 11, 2012, 11:22:50 PM
I'll take that one if you're willing to PM me code first so I can apply it to my account to make sure it's valid.

I've done a couple transactions with hero members on this board and done a few small loans.
804  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Windows 7 Crashes Immediately After Logging In (with 3rd 5970) on: March 11, 2012, 11:09:34 PM
Revert to 11.12 Drivers

Anything after that has a bug that crashes with 4+ GPU's.

This appears to have worked like a charm.  Address you'd like me to send the BTC to?

Now to see what kinda ridiculous temps I hit while mining and it it's stable.
805  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Windows 7 Crashes Immediately After Logging In (with 3rd 5970) on: March 10, 2012, 09:19:14 AM
Yea I'm running 64-bit Windows.

Guess I'll try to message the other people running 3x5970s and see what version of Catalyst they're on.
806  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Windows 7 Crashes Immediately After Logging In (with 3rd 5970) on: March 09, 2012, 11:21:24 PM
No one?

Seem to have a good number of views lol...

Will give a BTC to anyone that helps me figure this out.

Reformatting did nothing.  Same as before.  Safe mode is fine.  Getting into Windows restarts comp without a bluescreen.  Booting up with 2 now doesn't kick the fans in real loud right away.  Must've been Catalyst Control Center doing that.

Appears to be a driver issue?  Will going to an older version of Catalyst help?

E-mailed AMD tech support probably almost a week ago but no reply yet.
807  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] ACTUAL certification exam questions and answers for 1 BTC on: March 08, 2012, 02:25:30 AM
Actually, it really isn't any different than studying the material

It can be a bit different, since studying actual exam questions leads to more rote memorization than knowing and applying said knowledge.

I took some of those Cisco Academy courses and the stuff my professor highlighted throughout still left gaps in some of the minutia they expect you to memorize for the exams that you probably wouldn't have bothered covering as extensively as some of the other topics.

I've noticed the same with the CompTIA exams and the one Microsoft MCTS exam that I've taken as well.  I read and studied using the official texts and they expect you to regurgitate a lot of little trivia that most people would probably just refer to a chart or book for at some point.
808  Bitcoin / Mining support / [SOLVED] Windows 7 Crashes Immediately After Logging In (with 3rd 5970) on: March 08, 2012, 01:57:35 AM
Hope someone could shed some light.

Just got my Sapphire RMA back and it appears to be good to go.

Shouldn't be a power issue as my AX1200 should be more than enough.

Tried uninstalling Catalyst Control Center and SDK2.1 and restarted with all 3 cards in.

The 2 Diamonds have been working fine for the past month or 2.  Installed the Sapphire by itself and it works fine.

Any combination of 2 cards (Diamond1+Diamond2; Sapphire+Diamond1; Sapphire+Diamond2) works just fine.

It's when I have all 3 going that my system acts up.

I've noticed too that when I have only 2 with the PCI-E power connectors plugged in, when the system is turned on the fans kick in immediately and are very audible.  When I try with 3, the system sounds more silent as if the GPU fans aren't going (at a high speed at least).

Booting into Safe Mode and logging in works just fine.  Device Manager doesn't show any issues with the cards or drivers under Display Adapters.

Edit:  Mining with the Sapphire and one Diamond at the moment and it appears stable at 825/150@1.049v so it doesn't seem to be the card.  Looks like I might have to try a fresh install of Windows?
809  Economy / Goods / Re: Buy product from Amazon and ship internationally? on: March 05, 2012, 08:38:23 PM
I'd be willing to do this for you.

Feel free to PM me with more details (ie. link to item you'd like to order off of Amazon, where you'd want it shipped to, etc.).

Edit:  I think an easier way too is if you have a chat client of some sort so that communications go through more smoothly.
810  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Need opinions on this PSU on: March 04, 2012, 06:11:10 AM
Yea, I've noticed that Newegg tends to cycle their 15% off sales or so on the PSUs fairly frequently.

If you're not in a rush and can wait a bit they'll either have an OCZ, Seasonic, or Corsair brand sale going on at some point.  That or you could get an Amazon GC from one of the people here for a 10-15% under face value and just buy it off Amazon.

Friend of mine had an OCZ ssd that went bad and RMA'd it with no issues.

I see, thanks as always for the responses DiabloD3.

Do you know if there are plans to put those kinds of controls into DM at some point?

So before I start going through every page of this 70 page thread...

Are there flags or a way to set core/mem clocks, voltage, and fan speeds with Diablominer?

Wanted to try it out with the -f flags to mine while gaming but didn't see any mention of these sorts of options so far in Diablominer the way CGMiner does.
813  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: A1BitcoinPool Complaint on: March 01, 2012, 09:48:56 PM
Think it was stated by a mod a few days ago that he said he wasn't intending to pay.

Someone else stepped forward on his behalf (sort of) and offered a chunk of BTC to cover it.
814  Economy / Goods / Re: Girl Scout Cookies for BTC on: March 01, 2012, 07:49:45 PM
Yammy-yammy. There in Russia we do not have Girl Scout Cookies. Is it maked from real Girls? Smiley

Lol no they're not made by the girls.

Girl Scouts is just a giant organization thats supposed to teach girls certain values, ethics, and skills that will help them later on in life.

The organization probably contracts with a company that produces the cookies for them and the girls go around selling the cookies to raise funds for activities and other sorts of stuff.

Not sure how much of profits go to the girls as opposed to upper management and salaries but the cookies are damn good.
815  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying 2.5btc mtgox code for 2.6btc on: March 01, 2012, 08:28:19 AM
I can do this for you if you like.

Send coins to: 14bGtHMP5Zs3Gbxo9GFTXiogfNTw6dM1w9

I got my Bitcoin wallet open so when I see the transaction I'll go ahead and PM you the MtGox code.

Edit:  Well guess he either had someone help him out or he's sleeping.  I'm about to go pass out myself so if someone hasn't helped you out by the time you read this I can just PM you the Mt.Gox code when I wake up if I see a transaction in my wallet.
816  Economy / Goods / Re: Girl Scout Cookies for BTC on: March 01, 2012, 06:13:09 AM
Oh man, you just had to go and add more to the list to make it harder for me to decide which to order...
817  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 5970 - 2nd GPU memory bad suddenly..? mining related? on: March 01, 2012, 03:41:27 AM
Nope, was waiting on you lol.
818  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What PSU are you using? on: March 01, 2012, 03:39:49 AM
Got myself a new Corsair AX1200 since I needed the extra juice to power the 5970s I bought once I got into mining.

Before that was a Corsair HX620W (no longer in their product lineup) which worked fine for the 3-4 years I had it.  It's now in my friend's computer and has no issues still.

They've definitely won me over after giving me good customer service and overnight'ing me more modular cables free of charge.
819  Economy / Goods / Re: Girl Scout Cookies for BTC on: March 01, 2012, 03:35:48 AM
post a picture with verification, and I will send first if you can split up an order with 3 types of cookies.  I've bought from a few members of this forum.

What he said.  You wouldn't be able to do a mixed case would you?

Kind of want a mix of samoas, peppermints, and try out the peanut butter ones but if it came down to it Samoas would be my choice if you can't.
820  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 5970 - 2nd GPU memory bad suddenly..? mining related? on: March 01, 2012, 01:36:00 AM
That makes two of us.

Lost out on mining with a 5970 for about 3-4 weeks cause dude sold me a bunk one.

Price wasn't too shabby though so even after factoring in RMA fees and shipping cost I still got a good deal on it.  Think it would've arrived today or tomorrow but I put wrong zip code on it so FedEx sent it back to the Althon Micro.

So hopefully I get it by Thursday and your solution works so I can mine on 5 GPUs and game on the 6th (3x 5970s).
