Seymour - Race #5 - that longshot horse is being offered 440 to 1 by others, with these other stats the horse has you simply "copy-paste" what the sharks do and get your own small profit from this (and "small" profit here is €6 - €10, by all means this is not a small number for many members here, am I right?)

The horse in live was 200 to 1 which is better than the pre-race odds but personally I'd rather guarantee a small gain than potentially get more, but if you're into live betting - by all means go for it. At the time of writing now the horse is now 1000 to 1 in the race i.e. has no chance whatsoever.

Count me as the 2nd person of your project  Grin I used to gamble in sports but never in horse and greyhound. I always thought gambling on these two sectors are totally based on guess. Point is, I never had interest so never dug deep.

I am curious how much you won from those five bets seeing the odds are very high. I may need some understanding in how to place bet too.

The NBA in some way is not based on guesses neither, especially when it comes to big games, for instance Lakers vs Warriors on Christmas day - by all means in a real world the Warriors should win a game like this, but the Lakers beat them by all parameters - this was intentional and not random.

From those 5 bets the total is 21 + 22 + 0.13 + 12 + 17 = 72.13 EUR

Placing bets like this is quite simple, you are not betting on which horse to win but rather on which one to lose the race (even 2nd place is a loss), in another words you don't want that horse to be a winner.

But in order to say get €20 out of a race where the odds are 200 on that horse - you need to risk €4,000 in order to win €20 - but ... in a normal betting world some people would risk €100 to win €20 which is riskier, because 1.20 odds are not a "sure thing" ... here it's also never a sure thing, but statistically you have much better chances to win than someone betting €100 to win €20.

Bet #45 and last one for US for today:

1208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A proven way to make money from gambling - what's your opinion about this? on: December 29, 2018, 08:46:26 PM

I wonder if gamblers do not understand the simple fact that new casino houses are popping up everyday and this to me means that the house always wins. So no matter what strategy anyone tries to apply the outcome is 100% right that he will lose the money in the longer term.

You are right, in every single Casino game you are 100% guaranteed to lose because of the house edge.

But this is not Casino!

What I exemplify here is you betting against other people - using BetFair - you actually don't have many "new casino houses" doing what BetFair is doing, you have BetDaq and Matchbook but BetFair is still the #1 website for this kind of activity.

Also unlike normal betting in horse racing where you need to guess which horse would win the race - here you can guess which horse would LOSE the race and that's how you make profit - you are actually in some way being the house here, because you use a huge balance to "sell" other bettors the opportunity to bet on horses with high odds.

Nonetheless it's still gambling, and BetFair (or Orbit Exchange in this regard) makes a commission regardless of who wins the bet, so they are the real "house" here, but this was just a new method for you to think about (it's actually not so new, but I haven't seen many people talking about longshot horses, I did see tons of articles about "laying the favorite" but no one actually talks about longshots).

Bets #41 - 43 were ones I did through my phone, I wouldn't count the small 0.13 one as this was one I cancelled (but had 0.13 matched already), I'm now back to document it all from my PC, I usually do it only via PC and not via phone:

The next interesting race is Parx Racing (Philadelphia, USA) in a few minutes.

Bet #40 was my last bet for today, would be back on Sunday Australia's time (Saturday is my free day, I'm not gambling on that day).

So basically what you're doing is taking the longest shot from each race? I looked at the results and a lot of these horses came in dead last -- but you can't be too surprised. It must feel pretty good when you do get a winner.

I did read your other thread, and I have to say, the whole thing sounds intriguing. I don't have much extra money to throw around at the moment, hence my signature campaign involvement. If I did perhaps I'll try it some time. What is your favorite BTC sportsbook for placing horse racing wagers?

Oh, wow .... 1st response from another user .... thanks so much for posting a response first of all ... !!  Grin Grin Grin

It's really nice to see some discussion here, instead of me posting bet after bet after bet which made this thread so boring until now.

My last bet was Suthebys and he came in 2nd, but made no threat whatsoever, and even if they make a threat a winner is still a winner (in the market no one indicated this was going to be a winner).

It's always possible to get some horses to make a threat but the majority of them so far were decent who hadn't made it anywhere close.

So yes,

The goal is to bet on the longest shots to lose the race, even if they end up 2nd it's fine, as long as they are not the winners ... so instead of guessing which horse would win the race (which is the classic way of betting on horses) - you just need to guess if the specific horse of your choice would be a loser, and of course if it's a long shot horse - you should expect to risk a very high amount of $ in order to gain some.

I use as mentioned in the very first post - Orbit Exchange via BetInAsia.com - it's the same as using BetFair, except BetFair minimum is 2 EUR per stake, and Orbit's 6 EUR but it's almost negligible when it comes to betting like this.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

The open bet was placed in live, even though the winner was declared - it was still matched in the end for 7 EUR, did I mention already that Australians are very special people?
