521  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Pizza for bitcoins? on: February 15, 2014, 03:27:23 PM
This is an open offer by the way.. I will trade 10,000 BTC for 2 of these pizzas any time as long as I have the funds (I usually have plenty).  If anyone is interested please let me know.  The exchange is favorable for anyone who does it because the 2 pizzas are only about 25 dollars total, maybe 30 if you give the guy a nice tip.  If you get me the upgraded extra large ones or something, I can throw in some more bitcoins, just let me know and we'll work something out.

My 1 year old daughter really enjoys pizza too!  She just smears it all over her face if you give her a whole slice, but she does eventually manage to get most of it in her mouth (minus a few loose toppings of course).
Is this offer still open? PM : )
522  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: MTGOX <-> BTC BID/ASK on: February 15, 2014, 02:50:22 PM
Can Mtgox reverse internal bitcoin transactions?
Yes.

Does that increase the risk of buying goxBTC?
Sort of.

If you have goxBTC you have to trust gox not to cheat.
I.e. you are already fully trusting them, so this doesn't really change anything.
523  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Inline javascript found blockchain.info on: February 15, 2014, 12:39:38 PM
Would love to see the browser extension that was compatible with safari. Any plans for one?
Even better, there's an OSX app.
524  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: February 15, 2014, 12:37:39 PM
Both the site and the app consider my watch-only addresses as part of my "total" balance, and assumes the other wallets are (and stay being) mine.
[...]
I noticed that if I "archive" the paper wallets the balance will not take them into consideration (which is what i want), is that the correct way to deal with this? Any other way to mark a wallet as cold-storage?
Do archived wallet addresses ever "go away" on their own? (like emails in a spam folder, that are automatically deleted after a few days)
As far as I know they are never purged, and it would be utterly foolish to do so, but I suggest to wait for an official answer anyway.

In any case a good approach is to use two wallets: one "light" and another one "tight". The light one has less security measures and contains only small amounts of coins, to be used daily. The tight one keeps most of your balance, and should have all security you can get. The paper wallets could be linked to the tight one, and in this case it might make more sense not to archive them.

(anyway even if those watch-only addresses would be deleted, they could be re-added from your paper wallet itself – they are there just for convenience)

Be careful with things that looks too good to be true, don't invest more than you can lose, and do not trust people who constantly scream about how fucking awesome they are and how fucking secure their services are. Braggers are most of the time lots of smoke, and little content.
This is generally good and should be taugth in elementary schools...
526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: February 15, 2014, 11:10:59 AM
seems now we are poor elite Smiley

Given where the price has gone since this thread has started, doubtful.  :-)
Still looks good to me: http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/rockEUR#rg150zig6-hourztgTzm1g10zm2g25zv

Africa’s largest bank

Quote
The Standard Bank of South Africa, part of the Standard Bank Group, is headquartered in Johannesburg and is Africa’s largest bank with over 53,000 employees. Founded in 1863, in 2012 it had headline earnings of US$1.8bn and total assets of $183bn.

Sure, but:

Update (13th February, 14:40 GMT): Representatives from Standard Bank say that it has finished testing the Switchless bitcoin trading platform, and that it will not be made available to customers.

The bank said the test is part of wider research on “Internet-based financial services”, and that eight internal Standard Bank employees participated in the completed pilot.
528  Economy / Economics / Re: My bank account's got robbed by European Commission. Over 700k is lost. on: February 15, 2014, 08:43:10 AM
And now almost an year later, i can't believe how poorly this was covered by the worldwide media, like it's not the most outrageous government theft in modern history but just a minor hiccup.....
It was covered quite extensively here in Italy.
529  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Re: Fisco / Tasse / Legge sul Bitcoin on: February 15, 2014, 08:40:27 AM

L'ho saputo solo adesso... Ma sono completamente impazziti??? Non viola le leggi sul movimento di capitali all'interno dell'unione europea?
Sì è quello che mi chiedevo anch'io, mi sembra assurdo che possano farlo.
530  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: February 15, 2014, 08:37:21 AM
Here at Havelock we take security issues very seriously.

We have never had any issues with users that enabled 2FA on their account. We have contacted the person that has made the claim that is account has been compromised and are looking to resolve the matter has soon as possible.

Trying to balance ease of use and security is never easy, especially in the Bitcoin realm. We can always add additional security features but those will always slow down the user experience.

So we turn to you, our valued customers, what features would like us to add to our platform?

1. Confirmation email before any action is taken; some but not all actions.

2. Pending withdrawal of your Bitcoins; time lock?

3. Lock account by IP address?

We always value your opinions and we strive to serve the Bitcoin community to the best of our ability.

Also we can assure everyone that it was not an "inside rogue employee"

Thank you,

Support Team
Havelock Investments

Since apparently the email is the weak link, how about adding an optional extra layer via SMS?
531  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: February 15, 2014, 08:35:37 AM
How about allowing us to specify a withdrawal address that is then locked; coins can only be sent to this address. It can be unlocked, but upon doing so an email is sent notifying me that it's been unlocked and it takes a further 7 days or so before a new address can be entered?
It won't help if your email is compromised, since you might also easily miss the confirmation email (the attacker would delete it).
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ripple is officially open-source! w/link on: February 15, 2014, 08:31:28 AM
Ok, I give up, he's trolling.
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: February 14, 2014, 05:25:47 PM
and the fact it may be the most secure online wallet around makes it fantastic for that usage.
It's great and so far trustable, but it's definitely not a wallet and you shouldn't use it as such.
534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enjoy? on: February 14, 2014, 05:22:26 PM
So what did you do with your 1EnJoy vanity address?  And, if you don't mind me asking, what is the meaning behind your username?   Not trying to accuse anyone of anything, but it is a pretty big coincidence.
There's no reason to believe it's him.

If it was him, there's no reason why he would first post his request in public, and then deny it was him.
It doesn't make any sense.
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ripple is officially open-source! w/link on: February 14, 2014, 05:17:20 PM
Anyone can fork Gnome, and, say, call it Dwarf.
The documentation and the tools to build it are there. And you can run it on your system.

Please, try to learn how software works before opening your mouths, learn to read, and stop being such retards. You guys are really testing my patience (besides mah87 the serial scammer where I didn't expect anything more).
Really, Ripple satisfies my criteria of being open source, and you guys are still nitpicking on things you obviously don't understand.
I perfectly know how software works, so I can easily understand how a huge amount of work would be to replicate something as the ripple network.

It will not happen simply because it makes no sense to do that: 1:1 clones are worthless, just like for Bitcoin.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ripple is officially open-source! w/link on: February 13, 2014, 06:12:18 PM
Is anyone running a competing network yet? If no, why?

There is more information on forks here, especially the second one, splash, looks promising but there is little new information on it.
https://ripple.com/wiki/Forks
Thanks, interesting.

As usual, mah87's reply is retarded. If you claim your thing is open source, you have to make everything possible for it to be forked, this includes proper documentation, releasing all needed tools, etc.

You think forking and build interesting things is easy, THIS is retarded.
+1

or you really think you just can "fork Gnome"? Can you do that, if you want to?

pankkake, I'm again disappointed. You are either obviously trolling, or you have shut down your brain completely.
(and that's a pity, because usually you gave good replies...)

Try using arrow key, worked for me
Didn't for me :/

Could someone copy-paste it to a real document?

They were the first to market, but has been nothing but incompetent and dishonest since day 1.
Why "since day 1"?

I don't recall anything especially bad before the USD wires problems.

Sure, their customer service wasn't stellar even before, but this is a common problem shared with most big firms...
540  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN]ASICMiner Publicly Looking for Potential Customers/Partners for New Chips on: February 10, 2014, 09:04:01 AM
We are very interested in a partnership going forward.  We run an institutional mine and have quite a bit of capital to invest into a wholesale relationship for chips.

Please consider us. Thanks.

To repeat again:

"FC asked for PMs or emails, not questions in this thread"
And people who can't even read simple instructions, won't likely be good partners for anything.
