801  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 28, 2013, 12:37:04 PM
very good post.
802  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 28, 2013, 11:51:38 AM
What I meant was to:
- find people who have 250 shares between them who want out of bitfunder
- find a person whom all of them trust.  push shares to mr.trustworthy
- mr.trustworthy initiates transfer out of bitfunder
- ...  [hours/days/weeks/months later, the transfer completes]
- mr.trustworthy transfers the shares back

for obvious reasons, the sell + buy back strategy is much faster and less risky.
Not only you would have cp risk with the person you trust. Even if he was 100% trusted, since bitfunder has been operating as a fractional reserve, there is an extremely high risk of the transfer not going through.
Keeping any asset there is complete foolishness, there is really no excuse.
That site has always been crap, and everytime something changed, it was for the worse, touching new uninimaginable lows.
803  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 28, 2013, 10:13:31 AM
- pool shares from like-minded trustworthy (or escrow otherwise) individuals

can anyone elaborate how this works? I have 21 shares on Bitfunder I would like to get on Havelock. Selling & buying would make no sense I would lose bitcoin
Uh?
Of course it makes sense instead: you move from an instable and dangerous place, to somewhere more safe.
Moving costs.
Or, keep them there, if this makes you happy : )
Just don't come back complaining when it tanks and you have nothing left.
804  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bubble Popped on: October 28, 2013, 09:40:28 AM
The only thing that really happened was that some folks who think bitcoin is just another market that you use Wall Street strategies for got their clocks cleaned.

The only people selling at $160 and $155 were wonks and day-traders that had stuck in stop-loss orders. Now when they wake up in the morning, they can look at their balances, and then climb back into bed and cry into their pillows because they got their pockets picked.

Bitcoin trading is not Wall Street, and if you try that crap eventually you will get eaten.

It's no different than trading anything else - there is no formula, and most traders, including professionals, end up failing to beat the market.

Actually they do differ.

Bitcoin is much more volatile and have much wider swings up and down, so while the principles might be the same or at least similar, the actual values are quite different. This means that if you take some constants from your wall street trading, and you "just use them" in Bitcoin, they will perform quite poorly. That's why he wrote that example about stop-loss orders: in wall street market, likely such an order would have made sense. Here it was just a normal swing.
805  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: October 27, 2013, 09:00:39 AM
I've opened the Chrome app and I've received a popup suggesting me to switch to a newer version of the app: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/blockchain/glaohkkooicollgefkkmndjcbblominl/reviews

Also, I've found on twitter that a native app for OSX has just been released: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/blockchain/id688882038

Are these legit?
806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Law Enforcement Attending Bitcoin Meetups Undercover? on: October 26, 2013, 08:14:22 AM
i wish it was that simple. unfortunately EVERYONE is a felon. the average normal neighbor joe commits 3 felonies a day. you cant just "not break the law". not even a law professor knows how to do that.
Much true, unfortunately.

I've been around long enough to remember a sting operation in Europe where a seller of bitcoins was arrested after selling bitcoins to undercover agents.
Lol "in Europe". Where and when, exactly?
807  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 26, 2013, 08:07:16 AM
Hi guys
I am in europe and I have a few G-asicminer shares on bitfunder. Considering all the uncertainty should I be moving these somewhere else? Can i move them somewhere else? or are they ok for the time being? Any advice/suggestions appreciated. Thanks
Yes, move elsewhere, Bitfunder is a mess.
808  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 25, 2013, 03:51:11 PM
I am not pushing any criminal behaviour, I'm just trying to find and present the facts.  Go join the conspiracy theorists here ...

We all know that you are a MtGox sock puppet. So why don't you just fuck off?
I doubt MtGox is so sophisticated to have sockpuppets, while it can't manage to do any proper support.
At most he's just a fanboy (not saying he is).
809  Economy / Gambling / Re: LetsDice.com - Now with 500 BTC Jackpot! on: October 25, 2013, 03:49:58 PM
host-tracker is a serious site to check if some site is up or not, as opposite to that utter crap of downforeveryoneorjustme.

The only thing I'm even remotely upset about is that the ladies of negotiable affection went away too.
there is much win in this one

"It's not who votes that counts, it's who counts the votes." When the worst of all possible evils always wins where it counts, you realize Stalin's thesis thoroughly haunts American elections.

seriously where do people get that usd/btc doesnt matter?  unless you live in a world where you can make all your transactions in in btc then fiat/btc totally matters.
it doesn't matter regarding buying btc-denominated securities as opposite as just holding bitcoins.
812  Economy / Gambling / Re: LetsDice.com - Now with 500 BTC Jackpot! on: October 25, 2013, 01:35:03 PM
don't use this crap, use http://host-tracker.com/ instead.
813  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: October 25, 2013, 01:32:04 PM
Question: how to buy shares in ASICMINER?
answer : www.havelockinvestments.com.  create account.  deposit btc.  buy securities.  collect small weekly dividends.  hope share price goes up, and/or dividend price goes up, and/or usd-btc value goes up.
wrong.
since he pays in btc, it doesn't matter if usdbtc goes up: he would have gained the same anyway if he hadn't invested them in a security.
814  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: October 25, 2013, 12:34:13 PM
There were one bid and one ask wall very close to each other.
My guess it is a single person trying something....
Exactly, it was most certainly a single person, what was he trying to do is the question.
815  Economy / Securities / Re: [Bit Funder] [btcquick] [Rising profits] on: October 25, 2013, 12:17:12 PM
Its sad that a well run business like this has all these problems due to regulators.
Whats shocking to me is the concept of "accredited investor".  Why can't normal people help a business they like and maybe get a return back for the effort? Friends do this all the time.
A professor of economics from any developing country would not qualify as a "accredited investor" but Kim Karadshian would be approved in a second.

I wonder why the US is in such deep economic problems..
Simply because years ago this was inconcievable, you couldn't just do that in any practical way.
Now that we can, the bureocracy and the related laws are very very very VERY slow catching up.
816  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: October 25, 2013, 12:10:29 PM
Guys check this is quite funny

https://www.havelockinvestments.com/order.php?symbol=AM100

Someone is trying to stick the price or something.....  Huh
true, quite odd.

Hmm All I see are two walls at 0.45
Unless you were referring to the 10,000 wall at 0.55 that got eaten through
There were one bid and one ask wall very close to each other.

idk, im not accusing anyone at this point, just saying i personally will wait for more solid evidence. most people on this thread have plenty of motive to jump in and help if they think theyll get a little more btc back. He confirmed the girl is reputable in the chinese bitcoin community which makes it seem less likely she would be involved in some sort of outright lie, pump scheme but Ive seen too many people in securities say anything to pump or dump a share price so ill remain skeptical at the risk of missing out of some profit. I think if this is true the share price would double so plenty of time to get back in, no need at least in my opinion to panic buy, thats always gets me in trouble lol

Just a quick question; are there any options to sell or transfer Purchase/Selling securities? I'd like to liquidize my holdings.

I was hoping to find the answer to such a basic question in one of the first posts, maybe this would be a good thing to add?

Thanks in advance!

ATM the open market is your only choice. The auctions or marketplace sections would be a place to start.
Huh

Unless deprived allows transfers, I don't see how reaching an agreement with someone could help.
