1021  Other / Off-topic / Re: Truly time for me to die on: June 12, 2014, 11:40:14 PM
I can't take life anymore. I've come close to killing myself twice, putting myself in the hospital twice and this time I'm just done. I'm a degenerate gambler. I asked Nitrogen to IP ban me and they said they did but they didn't. I didn't change IPs or use anything different and today I went to Nitrogen and was fooling around with the prop bets. I didn't realize my deposit of 1.16 BTC had come in and I placed a bet that will never hit on some nobody for my full balance. I didn't mean to do this. I'm now broke and can't do this anymore. Ive failed everyone in my life, my parents know of my problem and don't want anythingto do with me. I can't do this anymore. I just want to die and im going to go thru with it tonight. Nitrogen wont help, nobody will. It was an accident and my life savings are gone. I wish they would have banned me like they said they did.

https://nitrogensports.eu/betslip/ed5fef4dnhFV0k4SVZ6eHVIckZHeGp5TUEwZz09/r/48971/

Im going to write a letter to my parents and my girlfriend and explain to them what happened. I dont want to live anymore, my problem will never get better. Ill always be a disappointment to everyone. Truly. I dont deserve to live anymore and thus im going to take my whole prescription of sleeping pills once I write the letters and tell everyone goodbye.

it has been a great experience getting to know all you people in bitcoin and i wish you the best. I hope you all never fall down the path of gambling that i did.

Goodbye.

What kind of sleeping pills are those? Your chances of taking your life with almost any of those that are being prescribed nowadays are very very slim. Please do not try that, or any better method either.

Sorry to hear that. But spending your savings isn't that bad, it wasn't even credit. Some people don't have money at all. You can start a new life and get someone to take care of your money if you are unable to.
Good luck.

Edit: you really lost only 1 bitcoin or what? You could make that back by selling that prescription on Silk Road instead.

many hater here but our statistic say all:

7305 members with over 2175.6225769231 bitcoins are trusting us!

and we still pay the 3% daily profit - we are legit

Yes and I have 10 thousand bitcoins that I got from Santa Claus.
1023  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Last block found was 75 minutes ago... on: June 12, 2014, 08:21:27 PM
Okay, some stats for your amusement just because I have not seen these before while lurking the forums:

The probability of finding the next block in

less than 1 minute: 9.5 %
less than 5 minutes: 39.3 %
less than 10 minutes: 63.2 %
less than 30 minutes: 95.0 %

As you are reading this, the probability that you have to wait more than one hour from this moment until the next block is found is about 0.25 %, small but significant and without checking the blockchain I am quite sure longer block times have been seen many many times before. It would be expected to see a 90 minute block time about once per year.

Based on the assumption of average ten minute block time which is the case when difficulty is "correct" for the current hash rate. Now that the hash rate is increasing, most of the time the difficulty will be "too low" and blocks are found on average more often than every ten minutes.
1024  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Invebit - Zero Risk Bitcoin Investments on: June 12, 2014, 07:24:58 PM
Seriously Why do people keep falling for this nonsense. There is no way anybody can
Protect you from Price Drops in the Market People.

Don't Risk anything you can't afford to loose in any Market Period!

This here is way to close to a SCAM that I had to say something.

Where's all this hostility in this forum coming from ? I hardly went through 4 topics and all the majority of users here scream is scam ?

Also I don't mean to offend you, but only because you could not think of a way how someone could possibly protect you of falling rates, then that's only beyond your own capabilities, but please others might be able to so don't just assume every company that tries to offer a service to the bitcoin community is a scam.

All investments are going towards our mining farm, by expanding our mining capabilities we do have the ability to keep your investments safe and pay rate drops out of our own pocket, is that rocket science ? Hardly.

By mining bitcoin you are able to keep bitcoin investments safe if the price falls? Sure. Everyone who knows Bitcoin and has basic business sense will see this is an obvious scam. You could fool some newbies but I hope you won't be able to.
1025  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Last block found was 75 minutes ago... on: June 12, 2014, 06:46:35 PM
I don't really get the purpose of this thread. You know such things happen.
Sometimes there are 12 blocks in a hour, and sometimes not a single one.

I've never seen anything close to an hour for a block so this seems ridiculous to me, especially for a tech with the promise of fast transaction times.

I was hoping to start a discussion on the topic (this is bitcointalk after all)  Grin

Not that ridiculous, it's bound to happen. A Bitcoin block can be found at any moment, the difficulty is just chosen so that it will take on average 10 minutes. But mining is just like lottery, if another block is found 5 seconds after the first one, OK, it happens. If you throw a coin, 50 % of the time it will be heads. But if you throw it 10000 times, there will be long streaks of either. Bitcoin mining is not the same but 8 times the usual block time is not that unusual. A poisson process is a good model for how the blocks are found. You can work the probabilities out with basic high school math, it's not as simple as some discete probability problems such as coin flipping but a very simple model anyway.
1026  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why arent you running a full node? on: June 12, 2014, 06:27:39 PM
But I am, I even tell that under my nick. Edit: seems like I'm not telling that... I'm just telling others to do so. Anyway I run one.
I actually do run a full node:

https://blockchain.info/ip-address/69.12.85.226

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit
Disk: 30GB
RAM: 1GB
Bandwidth: 1TB

$19/year on weloveservers.net (during their anniversary sale)

Easy instructions for running a node like that would be appreciated. I guess there would be a a few dozen people doing that, since there is still capacity to run other, basic stuff like IRC there.

1028  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Reddit’s science forum banned climate deniers. on: June 12, 2014, 05:19:40 PM
"Climate deniers".

Isn't that a stupid term?

Way to go, reddit. Like those climate scientists making threats to those who are publishing findings that are contrary to their hypothesis. Makes me want to consider speading climate change denialist propaganda.
1029  Economy / Gambling / Re: InvestoBit.com - Daily Bitcoin Return for 30 days - Up to 6%/day - Stable on: June 12, 2014, 05:14:11 PM
So this is not "no risk" anymore?

Shame on you if you lose it! Try to get it back but do not invest anymore. Obvious scam. There is another thread of this where this got labeled as scam of course, now OP brought it to the gambling section to find people that are easier to scam.

Please let's make OP lose money with his stupid scam. Do not give him anything.
1030  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Btc-Banker.Com new hybrid cloud, safe and profitable wallet on: June 12, 2014, 04:52:48 PM
Thank you for "bringing light and happy on my face" bitcoinbanker  Grin

We all know bankers are to be trusted, right, let's all send our money now and enjoy 3 % daily profits. Put in one bitcoin today and get 48000 BTC after a year. Now that's a banker who knows his shit, a scammer could never reach such profits!

OP has good arguments, "we are very profitable because we make a lot of profit". And as a banker he is good with arithmetic, 3 % per day calculated daily will make more than 90 % montly; that's pretty close to the actual 143 % profit.
1031  Economy / Services / Re: Signature Campaing for Jr. Member? on: June 12, 2014, 04:43:35 PM
Its Going to take me awhile to get my Post Count up I rather talk than type HAHA!

I can imagine. You are making it too hard, using uppercase letters in the beginning of words when they are not needed will slow your typing down and make it kind of annoying to type. Try to lose that habit, it makes typing more fun.
1032  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why does Bitcoin not implement anon? on: June 12, 2014, 04:34:03 PM
If they would implement such feature, I am pretty sure government would have easily destroyed them by now. Just see what happened to liberty reserve.

Them? They?

Liberty Reserve was centralized, it was easy. Bitcoin would survive, but exchanges and mainstream adoption would suffer so it wouldn't be the best idea probably. It's best to have a separate cryptocurrency for true anonymity.

Well, that bot was shitty and would not fool anyone really. Nothing new, it's a basic chatbot. This should not be news.

1034  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people deny the climate change? on: June 12, 2014, 04:27:38 PM
Everything changes, the climate included. The climate change deniers have financial interest.

As does the other side.
A lot of the research has been simply badly executed, on both sides too.

Lack of good information and the realization that a lot of the things climate change activists have said might be bullshit could contribute to skepticism. Not that many people have really analyzed those things or know how the data has been gathered.

Also most people don't deny climate change, that is easily measured - it has changed. But is has changed before. It's the reasons that cause it that are subject to speculation.
1035  Other / Off-topic / Re: Encrypted chat on: June 12, 2014, 04:18:12 PM
BitMessage is allright, but not as convenient as some options might be.

A lot of people have MSN messenger and I have many friends that use it for encrypted chat. Most people that I know that use it have the OTR plugin, that enables you to have end-to-end encryption. It's very user friendly. I use Pidgin client and the Pidgin-OTR plugin for that, both are open source. Pidgin supports other protocols too, so I suggest you keep using whatever IM application you have and your friends use and put encryption on top of it. That way it is easy to make a habit of it.
1036  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Invebit - Zero Risk Bitcoin Investments on: June 12, 2014, 03:59:10 PM
"No risk investment platform."

This should already ring some bells.

There is nothing to back this scheme up on the website, all the things about the coins being in cold storage while they are somehow willing to pay you back even if bitcoin loses value sound really sketchy.

Please do not give your money to scammers.

1038  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: AUCTIONING 100 mBTC! Ends at midnight June 11 (UTC+0:00) (today!) on: June 12, 2014, 12:44:30 PM
Seems like this didn't quite work out, should have got monbux to confirm in this thread...
1039  Economy / Games and rounds / [CLOSED] on: June 11, 2014, 04:37:10 PM
I have 100 mBTC and that is being held in escrow by monbux.

Rules are simple:

Bid any amount of bitcoin. The greatest bid wins - however, the person who makes the second largest bid must pay as well.

All bets must be paid at the time of making the bet, immediately after it. If your bet is not the second greatest or greatest, it will be returned to you unless you want to bid more, in that case just send me your new bet minus what you already have bet.

Just post your bid here in the thread; only a message with the amount you want to bid. I will respond with the payment address. I will keep a table of the bets here in the first message.

Minimum bid and minimum raise is 0.1 mBTC/0.0001 BTC. The ending time is at midnight UTC+0:00.

Happy bidding!
1040  Economy / Gambling / Re: Whats your best strategy on Dice game ? on: June 11, 2014, 03:30:46 PM
... So the chance of losing is very little. Anyway i lost a lot on gambling.
BR
Grin

I will now tell you the best strategy for real: instad of making thousands of little bets martingaling, take all the money you would ever spend on gambling and spend it all at once at 50 % odds if you want lot of money, on 95 % if you like less risk. This will give you the best expected value.

That is smart(er) because you won't repeatedly lose 1 % or whatever the house edge is. There are no other strategies that make sense, it's like throwing dice really. Any loss streak does not make it any more probable to win next time, hanging a foot of a rabbit from your computer screen does not make it any more probable either, nor does chanting a mantra.

This kind of game is very easy to simulate at home. I suggest testing your theories at home if you can't handle high school arithmetic.
