Ich finde deine Transaktion auch weder auf einem Blockexplorer, noch in meinem Node. Würde mal davon ausgehen, dass deine Transaktion nicht ordentlich gebroadcastet wurde. Eig. sollte Core die automatisch neu broadcasten, aber das wird ja anscheinend irgendwie nicht gemacht. Was für eine Version benutzt du? Du könntest auf jeden Fall mal die gesamte Transaktion als raw transaction mit dem Befehl getrawtransaction extrahieren und dann über einen Online Service (z.B. https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/pushtx/) broadcasten. |

the other wallet was an electrum wallet so as i understand a new address is created every time a transaction is sent
Electrum creates a new receiving address each time you receive a transaction. And Electrum also creates new change addresses if you don't spend the full UTXO. the reason i want to know the old details is so i can see the BTC price at which i acquired the BTC - i use an app called Koinley to do this
Where did you buy them? Why don't you check the exchange / whatever you have used? i don't think it is possible for me to to find the xpub without access to the wallet though is it?
The xpub is derived from the xpriv which is derived from the seed which is represented by the mnemonic code. Do you have your mnemonic code (12/24 words) ? |

Honestly, it seems like almost every day I am astounded by some new piece of information revealing just how terrible centralized exchanges are, and every time I am amazed that people just accept these kind of behaviors.
I guess it is mostly because they don't really care about the decentralized or privacy aspects of bitcoin. All they care about is buying them and selling them later for a profit margin of X %. I wouldn't even be surprised if the majority of people buying coins on binance/coinbase, don't even withdraw them but keep them laying there to avoid paying a fee reducing their margin. |

First, you should actually describe what exactly you did. You did not choose a "400 miner fee". So.. open your wallet and tell us what exactly you have chosen as your fee. Tell us whether it got broadcasted (is/was the backend connected?). |

No. Binance is made for the average user. And the average user doesn't understand the concept of addresses in bitcoin. We can be happy that they don't change the address after each deposit. Otherwise we probably would have hundreds of posts asking whether binance got hacked because there is now a different address shown. |

Yes. Wouldn't I have double the transaction costs, using two addresses?
No. The amount of addresses you use doesn't matter. What makes a transaction large in size is the amount if UTXOs used. If you receive X transactions to the same address of type Y, then you'll need to pay the same fee as if you'd receive X transactions to X different addresses of type Y. |

The issue is not the price, but rather the location, I live in Syria and shipping to here is difficult, and it requires trusting a third party to buy hardware wallet and send it to you, so is it better to rely on Linux OS or trust in a third party to ship the device? And you are trying to tell me that 1) amazon does not deliver to your country and 2) there is no way for you to buy a cheap smartphone or laptop? You don't need to import a hardware wallet. You could just buy a cheap laptop for 100$. It is not about if a linux system is good in your case, it is about how it is being accessed (e.g. air-gapped device of every-day computer). |

Correct. Bitcoin core does not have BIP39 (mnemonic codes) implemented. While it still creates hierarchical deterministic wallets (BIP32), it does not create a mnemonic code to back it up. The keys have to be backed up by either backing up the master private key or the wallet file. You might import all the private keys, as mentioned by NotATether. However, this is not comparable to actually importing and using a BIP39 mnemonic code. |

dem würde ich widersprechen. Kraken ist da ein weiterer möglicher Angriffspunkt. Ja, natürlich. War auch nicht buchstäblich so (aus dem Kontext herausgerissen) gemeint. Zusammen mit dem zweiten Halbsatz ergibt sich die Aussage, dass der eigene Rechner die Schwachstelle ist, unabhängig davon ob die Coins auf Kraken liegen oder Electrum. Mhh ich finde das gar nicht so leicht zu beantworten. Die Frage ist doch dann, vertraue ich der IT Sicherheit von Kraken oder meiner eigenen mehr. Natürlich wird Kraken vermutlich häufiger aktiv attackiert werden als mein privater Rechner, aber gerade auf der Hochzeit der Cryptotrojaner hat man gesehen, dass es auch ganz automatisiert private Rechner erwischen kann.
Das Problem ist, dass es häufig ausreicht den privaten Rechner zu kompromittieren um das Electrum Wallet genauso wie ein Exchange Konto zu kompromittieren. |

Selbstverständlich. Jedoch wollte die Person sich auch kein Zweitgerät anschaffen. "Möglichst günstig" sollte die Lösung sein. Und ein Cold Wallet mit nur einem Gerät, dass ständig Online ist, ist wiederum nicht so einfach. |

It literally doesn't matter which distro you use as long as its a reputable one and not something like hannah monatana linux. Make sure to verify the download, and you will be fine. Regardless of whether you use Ubuntu, Debian, Arch, Manjaro, Redhat, Parrot, Tails, Gentoo or any of the other dozens of reputable ones available. |

Scam Mails, fake Downloads und manipulierte Browseraddons sind leider wirklich eine Seuche in der aktuellen Zeit  Klar das lässt sich vermeiden wenn man Electrum (richtig gedownloadet + verifziert) verwendt aber Ledger Live ist komfortabel und auch für den 0815 User (hehe) leicht zu bedienen. Und wenn man auch Altcoins damit verwalten möchte führt fast kein Weg dran vorbei.... aber jetzt schweifen wir schon etwas weit ab. Mit Glück lesen gurk und ein paar andere neue User mit denen es hoffentlich hilft en paar Fehler zu vermeiden Das ist ja das schöne an den Hardware Wallets: Der BTC (und altcoin) Bestand bleibt sicher. Auch wenn es trotzdem einen Schaden hinterlässt (Passwörter kompromittiert, jegliche Daten, Bilder etc..), sind wenigstens die Kryptobestände sicher. Leider nehmen es viele nicht so ernst mit der Sicherheit. Erst heute/gestern habe ich einen Thread im English-sprachigen Teil gelesen, wo ein User ehrlich zu geizig ist sich ein HW-Wallet oder ein zweites Offline-Gerät zur sicheren Aufbewahrung zu besorgen. Dabei besitzt er laut eigener Angabe 1+ BTC. So etwas ist mir völlig unverständlich.. Wer bei 30k+ €, nicht <100€ für Sicherheit ausgeben will, dem ist einfach nicht mehr zu helfen. |

Soweit ich weiß, kannst du so etwas nicht einstellen. Das lässt sich aber sehr einfach mit einem Script, dass die Kraken API nutzt, realisieren. Mit einem Rechner der rund um die Uhr läuft (oder einem Minicomputer, also Raspberry PI oder ähnliches), lässt sich das ohne Probleme realisieren. |

The cheapest solution will never be the most secure one. If you are too cheap to spend 60$ from your ~35.000$, then you are on your own. If it's not worth for you, then continue using your windows system. |

It basically allows you to have a "hidden wallet".
Without the passphrase, there is no way to know whether there is such a "hidden wallet".
Any passphrase can be used to derive new seeds. But only the correct one will derive the seed which is being used to derive the private keys for holding the majority of funds.
Adding to what bob123 has said. @zoltanb, with the same mnemonic but different passphrases you actually may have as many "hidden wallets" as you want. Something like this: mnemonic + passphrase i -> Seed i, where i= 1,2........n Read the bolded part |

Die Schwachstelle ist mir natürlich bekannt. Wurde auch vor mehr als einem Jahr gefixt. Ist also aktuell kein praktischer Angriffsvektor mehr. Aktuelle Angriffsvektoren beim Kaufen von einem Ledger beschränken sich auf: - Vor-initialisierter Nano S
- Hardware Manipulation: Zusätzlicher Chip eingebaut.
Damit lassen sich z.B. die Knopfdrücke (TX bestätigen) mittels einer Antenne auslösen
