Why does it take so long to send messages? It's getting pretty annoying....

The 360 seconds limit is used to counter spamming, and the limit will be down to 75 seconds when you get 15 activity.
1483  Other / Meta / Re: Can someone explain this? on: April 29, 2014, 06:29:17 PM
Can someone explain me how I got 26 activity altough my account is only 2 days old

You picked a great time to register lol. Cheesy

Exactly as hilariousandco explained, the 2-weeks period starts at same time for everyone when unix time is a multiple of 1 210 000.
1484  Other / Meta / Re: Biggest Scammer on bitcointalk.org in the last couple of years??? on: April 29, 2014, 06:26:18 PM
it would be good if we can also mention the amount of BTC scammed by the members mentioned..!

You can see details of big theft and scams here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576337
wuhh... now that's a huge list ..!

there is still a lot of scammer which is not included on that list Cheesy
well i think that would be a list of bigtime scammer and those who are not on the list which is the smalltime only has become the laughing stock on this forum

That list is only for big scammers, and you can find a dozen of scam attempts every day (mainly in lending section).
1485  Other / Meta / Re: Unmoderated boards/threads question on: April 29, 2014, 06:24:00 PM
Just use the report to moderator feature, but be warned, scams are not meant to be reported as the mods don't really deal with them, so if you do you're likely to get a bad report.

That sounds strange but it is the situation here.

If you find spams, report them and mods will remove those posts/threads.
If you find scams, just leave a big red warning in those threads.

1488  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new to mining (i know nothing sorry) on: April 29, 2014, 06:14:09 PM
Just buy BTC, you'll never mine 44 Bitcoins back no matter what hardware you buy.

+1.
It is better to simply buy bitcoin directly, less work, less risk. Smiley
1489  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When will the millionth block be mined? Should we haz party? on: April 29, 2014, 06:06:21 PM
Thanks but you're out by a factor of 10. Smiley

The 10K party will be held in Vegas (if any) Smiley

^ Is this the real person behind the pool?
I can see he is from China from his post history though.
1491  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Electric bills for mining on: April 29, 2014, 05:50:34 PM
Soon people will invite some more ECO way to mine I am sure.

It is true that people will invent more and more efficient machines, but it will be harder and harder to make improvement as the current generation of ASICs are already in 28nm technology.
1492  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: CEX.IO Futures - your opinion? on: April 29, 2014, 05:44:45 PM
Anyone tried mining x13

What are talking about?

I have completely no idea.

Edit: Looks like it is a algo for altcoins (something "improved" from x11, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=570744.0)
1493  Economy / Services / Re: GAW MINERS PAYS FOR YOUR SIGNATURE >>> HIGH RATES 50posts = 0.08BTC on: April 29, 2014, 05:41:49 PM
Well please let us know ASAP. I've already received my first month's payment and would prefer to stay with you, but I won't hesitate to jump to another campaign that has the same requirements but rewards an extra 0.02 per month.

And that's why I brought up this matter earlier, which led to howzar (organizer of LB campaign) came to hijack this thread...
1494  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: shameless mini self brag on: April 29, 2014, 05:39:54 PM
Congratulations. Only a couple years ago, it would have been mindblowing to have 1 TH/s.

True. Indeed the total network hashrate was just 72 TH/s one year ago. Smiley

The increase in difficulty and hashrate is really crazy for the past year...
1495  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptory.com, what do you think? on: April 29, 2014, 05:34:50 PM
On the other hand, you can buy an AntMiner S2 for $2599 / 5.798 BTC with 1 TH/s.
https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020140429083756017VwGm90Xx06B5)

So it would be 0.005798 per GH/s. It draws less than 1100W and you will need to do the set-up and maintenance yourself.
The good thing is that you don't need to trust a site and worry the site could disappear suddenly one day.
1496  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptory.com, what do you think? on: April 29, 2014, 05:27:13 PM
Cloudmining hashrate price (BTC per GH/s):
cryptory: ~0.0186 (quoted from Domino's post above)
cex.io: 0.0064, at this very moment
pbmining: 0.0056, for 5 years contract

Good thing about cex.io is that you can trade your hashrate anytime you want, but the maintenance fee is bad ($0.26 monthly per GH/s, from cex.io/maintenance)
Good thing about pbmining is that it is the cheapest, but you can't sell the hashrate like in cex.io.

I see no point in buying hashrate on cryptory...

TL;DR: If you want to buy cloudmining hashrate, buy some on cex.io or pbmining instead.
1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free BTC at MIT on: April 29, 2014, 05:20:06 PM
I wonder where they got the bitcoins they are giving away?  It wasn't clear in the article.  Maybe they mined them in the beginning from MIT hardware?  Cool idea!  I wish my University did this.

The bulk of funding for the project is being provided by MIT alumni with significant additional support from within the Bitcoin community.
Looks like the funds came from alumni donation mainly. Smiley
1498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safe, zero confirmation transaction with trusted party on: April 29, 2014, 05:17:23 PM
Some people says that unlike our banking card system, bitcoin need 10 minutes confirmation or more.

But, this is simply not true. By using our current banking card system, we trust a third party. (VISA for example)
If you trust a third party in bitcoin, you can also also implement a zero confirmation paiement.

Imagine that Bob wants to pay Alice, don't want to wait 10 minutes, Alice and Bob does not trust each other.
However, Bob and Alice trust Satoshi.

In the scenario, the solution is that Bob store a small amount of BTC in a 2 of 2 wallet owned by Satoshi and Bob.
When he goes to Alice store, :
-Bob sign the transaction and give to Alice
-Alice sends the transaction to Satoshi,
-Satoshi signs, and record the output so he will never double spend,
-Alice get the fully signed transaction

Now Alice don't have to wait for a confirmation since she trusts that Satoshi will never double spend.
Alice can't spend right now, but that highly unlikely that she wants to spend exactly these coins within the next 10 minutes.

This is what I will respond when people says BTC can't be used for immediate paiement. Am I missing something ?

(I will never mention banks services like Coinbase that can make it immediate, since you are not dealing with real BTC but with their own fiat currency)

Isn't that exactly how those bitcoin debit cards work except the price tag is in btc?
1499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free BTC at MIT on: April 29, 2014, 05:10:33 PM
http://bitcoin.mit.edu/announcing-the-mit-bitcoin-project/

Wow $100 for free, like the students at MIT need more free money.  How about giving it to a homeless shelter instead?

So give it to a homeless shelter so homeless people cant spend it on their phones they don't have.

The homeless people don't need a phone to be benefited from the donation, say for example, the bitcoin can be used for a charity organization to provide food for homeless people.
1500  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who sent me bitcoins...? on: April 29, 2014, 05:05:36 PM
Sorry, there's no bounty for this - hope this is the right place.
Someone just sent me 0.002 bitcoins from this address: 1E75aBtdS6X4pDFoaxYXEkzvFMaEdPDmKe
They've done this periodically to other addresses recently. Addresses they've sent to include Pirate Bay and the Bitcoin Foundation: https://blockchain.info/address/1E75aBtdS6X4pDFoaxYXEkzvFMaEdPDmKe Sometimes the same amount, sometimes different.
Any ideas what that's about?!

No idea, maybe someone read your posts, love them, and sent you some tips Cheesy

BTW, it looks like that guy loves tipping others (BitcoinCharts, DosBox, BitcoinFoundation, PirateBay, etc.)
