1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking Terracoin Exchange on: March 11, 2013, 05:40:13 AM
I'm getting errors trying to access the exchange; it was working a couple of hours ago.

Tried the litecoin bitparking exchange, and it was down as well.
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terracoin profitability at 488% on: March 11, 2013, 02:10:45 AM
Terracoin last on Vircurex is 0.0005 BTC.  That's the highest I've ever seen it.  And this is after the worst TRC week I've ever seen. Smiley  Shocked
1063  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase cancellation issues are NOT resolved. on: March 11, 2013, 01:21:40 AM

Hundreds of complaints?  Seriously?

Close to it. Reddit was blowing up for a couple of weeks. That's not to mention the ones that don't complain, whose existence can be at least be surmised if not counted by the number of people that are publicly bitching.

Let's surmise the existence of those who have great experiences and don't speak up about it, then.
1064  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase cancellation issues are NOT resolved. on: March 11, 2013, 01:16:39 AM
ndex.php?topic=147071.0[/url]The majority of people seem to get their bitcoin with no problems.  I know I have.

7 or 8 people on a thread having a positive experience with Coinbase doesn't offset the tens or hundreds of complaints I've seen about them in the past month or two.

Hundreds of complaints?  Seriously?  Have you actually enumerated the number of people you've seen complaining?
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Do you support the proposition for a subforum for each Alt-Chain?? on: March 09, 2013, 11:53:29 PM
At the very least, give Ripple its own subforum so that I can see the rest of the alternative currencies again.  Roll Eyes
1066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looking to sell 50$ worth of BTC on: March 09, 2013, 11:18:43 PM
Anybody with true legitimacy online? Really not looking to take a risk.

If you are wanting to sell bitcoin for paypal, you want to go with fastcash4bitcoins.com

There are some smaller individual sellers around, but you'll need to do your own due diligence.
1067  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is the best of the alternative coins? on: March 09, 2013, 11:16:58 PM
IMO, Terracoin is the best of the altcoins, because it is the most like bitcoin.  Most of the changes made by the other coins are not improvements, IMO.  But I believe there is definitely need for an altcoin or two.
1068  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase cancellation issues are NOT resolved. on: March 09, 2013, 02:42:36 AM
Therefore, coinbase could never do anything with your funds.  They stand to gain nothing by faking that the orders are fraud.

They're not faking. They have the orders and the cash to back it up. They use the collective clout to get coins on the market and then they divvy them up to themselves and their customers. Not all of their customers get coins. The smaller ones get their money back...someday.

I am a smaller customer, and I've always gotten my bitcoin from coinbase.
1069  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase Users! Please Contribute Data! on: March 09, 2013, 02:38:49 AM
I have two more purchases in transit; one has an ETA of Wednesday, 18:00 UTC, and the other of Thursday, 18:00 UTC.  I'll try to keep progress posted here if anything changes.

Right now both of them are appearing in my transactions tab.

The Wednesday purchase has arrived, right on schedule.

Thursday made it, too.
1070  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitInstant purchase 2 days ago, no coins and getting ignored by support on: March 08, 2013, 03:39:48 AM
Are the rumors about selective scamming really true?

Yes, they are.  Most people just keep quiet about it, so they get away with it.  You are the first person to expose this scam to the forum, so unfortunately they won't be able to continue to pull off this lucrative venture.

 Roll Eyes

Seriously, be persistent in contacting them.  Quit waiting entire days between contacts.  Post on the thread as well as contacting support.  Provide your order ID, quite ID, transaction ID, etc., to help them help you.  And be nice.

It worked for me!  I had problems a couple days ago, and they cleared them up within forty five minutes.
1071  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people think one Bitcoin will be worth $1000 (or more) on: March 08, 2013, 02:20:44 AM
Let me correct this for you:

Btc has value because it fulfills could fulfill needs ...like transfer big amounts off money across the world almost instantly in a private way...

It's just - no ones does it. Hence: Zero value.

Why do you think noone uses bitcoin to transfer large amounts of money across the world?  People actually do this.  They also use it to buy stuff off of Amazon and to buy pizza.
1072  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Tangible Cryptography completed $300,000 in transactions in the past 48 hours on: March 08, 2013, 02:12:49 AM
Wow, congratulations!  I haven't had the chance to use your service (yet), but I appreciate watching your contribution to the bitcoin economy.
1073  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dwolla -> BitInstant transfer failure on: March 08, 2013, 01:49:12 AM
Glad to hear it worked out!

(And thanks for the $500 tip; I will keep that in mind.)
1074  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quickest way to earn 15 BTC? on: March 08, 2013, 01:33:54 AM
Sell your house with a price of 15 BTC.  It'll go fast, I'll bet, and it'll be the first confirmed house sold for bitcoins.
LOL

He said quick! Cheesy
1075  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 07, 2013, 04:35:09 AM
Sigh, once again, I leave the house on a Wednesday night, and everything goes crazy.

What is it with Wednesday, anyway?
1076  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Fiat currencies, gold, silver and the US constitution on: March 06, 2013, 10:04:08 PM
I tried to read a book called "The creature from Jekyll Island". Got about half way through. Quite enlightening. I can recommend it if you want to understand a whole lot more than I could ever tell you about American and World history especially regarding monetary issues.

Molecular, if you liked that book, you will probably like this one (if you haven't already seen it):

You'd probably also like The Case Against the Fed:

1077  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dwolla -> BitInstant transfer failure on: March 06, 2013, 09:41:38 PM
I had nearly the exact same issue yesterday (on the Dwolla end), and I emailed support and heard back from Seth at BitInstant immediately.  It took three emails back and forth, but Seth resolved the issue for me in 45 minutes.

You might want to post your issue on the BitInstant support thread as well as keep up emails to support.  Include your transaction IDs in the posts and emails; I'm sure it helps them process your issue faster.  And be nice; these guys are working hard.
1078  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some questions about the bitcoin system on: March 06, 2013, 06:30:45 PM
How will you defend the system from Tim Fernholz's arguments?

By continuing to use the system.
1079  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP USING BITINSTANT on: March 06, 2013, 06:24:28 PM
Hello,

With the alarming amount of complaints that have raised today that money has halted to move through their system. And it seems that people from these forums are not getting any kind of response from them.

Bull.  I got a response yesterday.  My problem was cleared up, and my order was handled well within in hour.  Superb transaction.
1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Flaw in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies? on: March 06, 2013, 06:22:01 PM
It would've kept mining feasible for a longer time for the average Joe, possibly helping boost interest.

But bitcoin is not about mining.  People today should find a different way to earn their bitcoin income.
