Because roads are the glue that bind our culture together.

Can I please get a divorce?
702  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No Taxation...Donation! on: April 27, 2013, 06:13:14 AM
Feel free to build up a night-watch-state like you want somewhere.
But don't force your idea of freedom upon me, please.

You realize that taxation involves forcing people to support the ideals of others, right?  You respecting my freedom (not taxing me, not imposing regulations upon me, etc.) is not me "forcing" an idea on you in any way, shape, or form.
703  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Taxation [discussion] on: April 27, 2013, 06:10:02 AM
But as far as I can see there was never a single successful state using your ideals before.

Is it okay if I don't want gangs to succeed?
704  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Taxation [discussion] on: April 27, 2013, 06:08:12 AM
But as far as I can see there was never a single successful state using your ideals before. The internet (and also Bitcoin) gives new possibilties, but you will have to proof your concepts, if you ever want to win people's trust to your ideas.

I don't care if you trust my ideas or not.  Neither one of us has the right to force the other to live by his ideas.

This is like saying Rosa Parks has to prove blacks are as good as whites before she can sit where she wants in the bus, and browbeating her for "blaming the current system."

Quote
Discrediting and blaming the current system is easy, doing it better is very very difficult.

Doesn't matter if the "current system" is credited or blamed; doesn't matter if any system is "better" or not.  What matters is consent.  I don't.
705  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Taxation [discussion] on: April 27, 2013, 04:12:43 AM
E.g. I want a country to have schools, because I don't want to live in a world where everybody is stupid.

Why should everybody else have to give you what you want?  People should work for what they want.

If I want a world without drugs and gambling, does that give me the right to engage in the criminal, immoral act of prohibiting drug use and gambling?

We are not toddlers and are old enough to understand that merely wanting something does not obligate the world to give it to us.
706  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Taxation [discussion] on: April 27, 2013, 04:10:26 AM
We would end up in an automated system, that would end all of tax fraud

Why would you want to end tax fraud?  Tax fraud is the moral equivalent of Rosa Parks sitting in the "whites only" section of the bus, defying the law.  We should not try to help those who oppress our neighbors.
707  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Taxation [discussion] on: April 27, 2013, 04:08:47 AM
What if we as Bitcoin community would offer a deal?
We could try to create a fair taxation model and integrate this into the Bitcoin system?

Bitcoin already has a fair taxation model:
You keep your money and contribute only to causes you believe in.

That's the only fair taxation model in the world.
708  Other / Politics & Society / Re: This is the thread where you discuss free market, americans and libertarianism on: April 27, 2013, 04:04:56 AM
And when you're done with that, read this: http://mises.org/document/2716
It's short, and to the point. I suspect even you can grasp the concepts therein.

That's not short at all! Even I'm not willing to read all that, and I'm into this stuff. How about actually defending the points here yourself instead of hiding behind a wall of authority?
....

That's very short, for the genre. Don't be fooled by the page count, the text is large, and the margins thick. If it takes you 30 minutes, I'll be very surprised.

And I have defended the points here, but he won't listen to me. I'm getting tired of running around in circles with him.

Maybe this would be more accessible:
http://mises.org/daily/2423

As for "hiding behind a wall of authority" -- acknowledging that there are better teachers than oneself is not the same as an appeal to authority fallacy. Smiley
709  Other / Politics & Society / Re: This is the thread where you discuss free market, americans and libertarianism on: April 27, 2013, 03:48:43 AM
I'm thinking there's some sort of language issue here. Anarchy = you don't make the rules! The "-Capitalism" suffix doesn't change that.

Anarchy means there are no rulers.  It does not mean there are no laws.  There are laws.  They are immutable.  i.e., in -archy systems, the arch's try to abrogate laws (for example, by giving themselves permission to aggress against life, liberty, and property).  What they are doing is criminal, and illegal, but they declare it to be legal.

It's been awhile since 1999, but you might remember Palpatine/Darth Sidious: "I will make it legal."  Really chilling, when you think about it.

A great book regarding law is Whatever Happened to Justice by Richard Maybury.  Maybury posits that law is something which can be logically reasoned about and discovered, perfectly or imperfectly.

1) DVC - requires compiling, and when I run the make command, I get an error "make: g++: Command not found"

This problem is likely resolved by installing the appropriate gcc/g++ package(s) for your Linux platform.

6) TRC - only supported on Windows???

Several people have compiled for Linux; you might try the terracointalk.org forum; I think some people have posted their experiences there.
712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin - Updated Client - New Logo on: April 27, 2013, 03:17:20 AM
Personally I don't like the new logo any better than the last one. However it's a matter of personal choice and makes no difference in the grand scheme of things, but anyway that's my input.

My logo designer is considering submitting yet another logo if anyone wants it. Smiley

Quote
My thought on the whole matter is that it's completely unprofessional to have launched FC when it was launched, if it was a half-finished project.

Actually it's best to release early and often, for peer review.

Quote
Launching a new client update and logo a mere week or so later strengthens the belief of some that this was nothing but a scheme created in an effort to line pockets of a very few people who were "in the know" about the hurried and secret launch. In other words...any credibility that Feathercoin had in the community is now going to be less because of this. It gives the impression that FC was rushed to launch and is nothing but a cash-grab scheme for the developer and his friends.

Same tired disrespectful garbage that comes up over every altcoin.  Nobody is forced to use an altcoin.  If you have any extras you don't want, of any type, I will gladly take them off your hands.

Quote
As I've stated before...I couldn't care less! If someone is able to suck some money from the suckers willing to pay it...more power to you! I don't blame anyone for taking advantage of noobs, rubes and boobs that are too stupid to know what they're doing....Hell, that's how all of the wealth in this world is, was and always will be earned!

I have bought and sold altcoins of my own free will and volition.  I am of sound mind.  I consider it disrespectful to call me a noob, rube, boob, or stupid.  It may all be true, but it's still disrespectful!

Your idea of how wealth is earned is completely off.  Wealth is earned by serving people.

Quote
Anyway...my question was, is this client "update" necessary?

If I were the FC developers, I wouldn't waste time answering you after your disrespectful comments above.  You can keep on using the previous client if you want, but since you think it's all a plot to take advantage of people, I suggest you delete any FC clients you have.  They were all given to you for free, after all, at the expense of other people whom you are now insulting.

Can I exchange altcoins for an Iter Unit of Account?

“It is the largest scientific collaboration in the world. In fact, the project is so complex we even had to invent our own currency – known as the Iter Unit of Account – to decide how each country pays its share,” says Carlos Alejaldre, Iter’s deputy director responsible for safety.

I am working hard to get CCE up on the second server.

I have yet to receive a reply on a simple SERVER RESET REQUEST from the hosting company.

Needless to say, it looks like I will be looking for a new hosting company.

We've all been there!  Hope you're back up and running, soon.
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 24h auctions: Litecoin for BBQcoins on: April 26, 2013, 10:55:21 PM
Auction ends in about an hour, at 00:00 UTC.  Current winning bid appears to be 250.0 BBQ.

I have decided not to run auctions for the weekend, so there will be no auction for 48 hours.  Auction will resume 2013-04-29T00:00:00Z.  Sorry for the short notice.

Yes there is, and it's been posted on a bunch of threads.
