1081  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase Users! Please Contribute Data! on: March 06, 2013, 06:05:09 PM
I have two more purchases in transit; one has an ETA of Wednesday, 18:00 UTC, and the other of Thursday, 18:00 UTC.  I'll try to keep progress posted here if anything changes.

Right now both of them are appearing in my transactions tab.

The Wednesday purchase has arrived, right on schedule.
1082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Flaw in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies? on: March 06, 2013, 05:47:45 PM
I am thinking realistically, please re-read my post. I didn't argue about someone buying coins now, but already having them from early rounds back when they didn't cost as much, or anything at all. This is a flaw in the reward system IMHO.

There's a FAQ on this.
1083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New exchange coming soon accepting most of alternate crypto-currencies! on: March 06, 2013, 03:57:40 PM
This is so excellent! I can't wait!  Grin Grin Grin

Same here!
1084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] TRC for Dwolla: $1 for 178 TRC on: March 06, 2013, 02:21:05 PM
Updated my price; I'm still buying. Smiley

1086  Economy / Speculation / Re: The rally will stop tomorrow 03/06/13 on: March 06, 2013, 03:22:11 AM
I'm not sure how high we'll go tonight, but I can guarantee the rally will collapse by tomorrow. Tomorrow is when my funds clear and my MtGox gets funded and I will be purchasing right at the peak. You're welcome. Donation address is in my sig.

For good measure, could you bump the "wealthy elite" thread tomorrow after your purchase?
1087  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 06, 2013, 03:10:08 AM
In my time here, I'd certainly have never expected to see Mt. Gox's chart guide become "old".  Of course the concept at $40 or $4,000 holds but I found it kind of funny since we're past it now.

Also, the wall image on this monitor now looks extremely out of place:

http://blog.bitinstant.com/storage/post-images/775889_705753252838_764540980_o.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1359670541652

Were we actually happy about $21.24 back then?

(I guess I'd be happy to see it now.  Briefly.)

does anyone know what happened to yankee? he was always helping people out fixing things i loved that guys but now hes just...gone

He's the CEO and cofounder, so I imagine he hasn't gone anywhere, and has been busy resolving the response to the latest attacks. Smiley  Roberto from AurumXchange posted earlier today that he talked to him today about bitinstant -> VouchX.  (I think.  I think Yankee is Charlie.  I may be confused...)
1089  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 06, 2013, 02:38:14 AM
Also, when deflation of btc, most just hold the btc instead of invest or spend it cause only high risk/reward is worth doing to get a better return. That could be bad for bitcoin economy.

Please save that for one of the dozens of other threads discussing (and debunking) it.

Most of us are busy trying to be irrationally exuberant, here. Smiley

Its showing to be up for me with all pay to options available.

Do you see VouchX available as a destination?

Hi there!

I spoke with Charlie and VouchX is fully functional on their site now. On a personal note I would like to say that I do understand your frustration regarding this incident, but please know that I can personally vouch for Charlie and his team doing whatever it takes to return to normal business. They are honest, hard working people and you won't hear me vouching for other services often, particularly for one that might be considered to be a competitor.

Thanks!
Roberto

Thank you!  I placed an order just now.  Next time you speak to bitinstant, please let them know I said thanks.

And it looks like something is hung up between Dwolla and Bitinstant.

Dwolla Transaction ID: 2145970

(I emailed support, of course.)

Resolved.  Seth got me my VouchX code on the third email.  I never did receive an actual VouchX email, and he recommended I contact VouchX with the JSON reply that bitinstant received from them - but that reply contained the VouchX code.  I've now redeemed it.

Very satisfied.  I had my USD from Dwolla to where I wanted it in less than an hour.  Thanks, BitInstant, and AurumXChange, and anyone else involved.

(Of course, getting the money to Dwolla in the first place was a bear, but that's to be expected.)

Contacted support through the form, though I'm expecting a wait as I'm sure bitinstant is still playing catchup from the long weekend.

That's what I expected, too, but Seth has responded to me twice, now, very quickly.

Got a very fast response from Seth, who apologized and says it's processed.

No VouchX yet, though, and the order page still says it's failed.

I sold half my coin.

I'll rebuy at 35

Ballsy move imo  Smiley

It always feels a little weird and ballsy when you sell at a top Wink

It's a lonely feeling Cheesy

You ought to feel a little powerful, though - the price has dropped 85 cents since I first read this post!  How did you do that?  Shocked

1099  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wouldn't it be more fair if the bitcoins were shared equally? on: March 05, 2013, 06:16:20 PM
People who believe in initial distribution to all newcomers can start a charity that accepts donations from likeminded people and makes disbursements to new people entering the bitcoin community.  The charity can perform whatever checking (or no checking) it wants to avoid second trips, etc.  In fact, there could be multiple such charities, competing amongst each other for donors and recipients based on their identification policies.

In fact, such charities have already existed.

So this can be implemented on top of the existing bitcoin protocol.  The existing protocol is therefore "fair."

I have a feeling nobody is seeing the scale involved here.

It's not that you haven't explained it right.  It's that there's a lot of thinking on this aspect of money, in general, that you aren't aware of.

Please take a look at this book:
