3461  Economy / Economics / Re: Why not just print dollars? on: July 17, 2017, 05:15:54 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpW_KMHlAmo

Why borrow dollars and then pay back by printing them?

Why take the long way around?
If you understand the dynamics of the economy, you will know that when you print too many cash in the system, you will devalue the currency. Making it worthless point, take a look at the economy of Zimbabwe where people carry a chest filled with money just to buy food.

Exactly, The OP must be a newbie in the field of economics . Zimbabwe is a perfect example of over print currency notes with less value. The More currency notes exists in a country, it creates a lot of gap between the rich and the poor. The poor becomes more poorer than before on uneven balance of currency in the country.
3462  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin now the strongest currency in the world? on: July 17, 2017, 05:08:29 PM
I think for now butcoin is not yet the strongest currency in the world because it is not yet known to all people and countries and also many countries still not recognize and accept bitcoin as currency so i think bitcoin is not yet the strongest currency in the world. I think dollar is still superior and more influential.
it is not about the recognization or the adoption. Bitcoin is the strongest currency on this planet because it is based on the computer and the internet while other currencies are still being used by paypal and controlled by the government. With Bitcoin, we can create our own freedom

Bitcoin might not be the strongest currency of the world yet but it has full potential of becoming one of the greatest currency acceptable worldwide. The best thing is it is not geographically restricted and not any single country owns it, making it truly  ONE WORLD ONE CURRENCY concept true.
3463  Economy / Economics / Re: The future of the paper money on: July 17, 2017, 04:56:57 PM
I think countries similar to Germany could do this, for the rest of countries even in 50 years they will still be using paper.
Paper money will be the most used money in the world even after 50 years because there is nothing can replace paper money because it is backed and supported by the governments and a lot of people and businesses are using fiat as a primary type of payment method so there is nothing can break the future of the paper money.

You are right in a sense that even if we have only bitcoins, there are still bitcoins stored in paper wallet, so we can not omit money stored in the for of paper.  Cheesy  The design or technology may change but people always want money to be in their hands and its the paper currency and paper wallet which gives them true satisfaction.
3464  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price of bitcoin before 1st August 2017 on: July 17, 2017, 04:34:13 PM
I think that is just too low. Despite the continuous fall, the price still exceeds that of its average from last year.

I'm not discounting the possibility of it dropping to $1000 and below though. What we'll have on Aug 1 is critical to bitcoin's future, some even think it would either make or break it. So it is understandable that weaker hands would start dumping in an attempt to get out of their perceived inevitable collapse.

People snagging these cheaper coins might offset the effect, but we can never be too sure.

Well, you cannot compare the bitcoin price from the last year, because bitcoin price in the last year was less than 1000$ and it find it difficult to cross even 1000$ in 2016. It is this year it rise to 3x of the price and almost touch the all time high near to 3000$. Now again we are experiencing a selling pressure but price is still not down as much.
3465  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin a good way to invest your money ? on: July 17, 2017, 04:00:30 PM
Invest a bit, but not all your money! Certainly keep a balance between using bitcoin as an investment and a stable currency such as a dollar. However, this week and maybe the next week is a good time to invest in bitcoin again as  many people are selling / panicking as August 1 is coming. (We all know the story.) This will increase the margin of profit for all investors and we should see bitcoin's value grow to never seen before heights.

Yes, I think this is another chance for those people who have missed it to buy less than 2000$. These days don't come often and my best advice will be to buy as much as you can below 2000$ and sets your Bids between 1500$ to 2000$ so as to collect as many bitcoins as possible before the  August 1st.
3466  Economy / Speculation / Re: WHEN will BTC rise again and WHY? on: July 17, 2017, 03:51:07 PM
I see that a lot of people here are still optimistic. I just converted half of what I got, and depending on other factors, I may or may not use that to buy cheap bitcoins before finally moving everything to a more secure spot.

What would happen after a hard fork though? A lot of people are believing btc will rise after Aug 1 but in the event of a hard fork, which coin?

First of all, there are very low chances of hard fork as most of the people expecting it to be soft fork only. But if somehow hard fork is activated, it will split BTC into two, the original is always  the masterpiece and it value will of course be more.
3467  Economy / Economics / Re: How long could bitcoin last? on: July 17, 2017, 03:45:52 PM
There is no specific date until when will bitcoin be here.  For me it will last up to the end of time.  There would be no expiration with bitcoins.  The factor always is the most important one, computer, internet collection, and most importantly the curioisity.  As long as everyone supports bitcoin it will never end.

Bitcoin will stay for very long if not forever (maybe we get someday a better alternative to bitcoins, you never know), but it depends that it pass through the forking things and doesn't get itself splited. Sad
If we have two chains of btc, then it will be an Eth or altcoin, which is no good for everyone.
3468  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low can bitcoin price go till 1 august ? on: July 17, 2017, 03:09:49 PM
Panic sale has already started. We have more than a week to go before august 1. I am assuming the price will be under $1300 for now. Perfect time to buy and not regret later.  Smiley
I'm just hoping that it will not drop in $1000 for it may take too long before it can recover if it reached that amount. Though it can be good for those who are wanting to buy at low price.

If the price goes down that low, it will be an advantage to those who are buying, but as time still goes on, the price will still come up again, then, that will be a profit to those who bought.

For those who are thinking that price will go very down lives in a dream paradise. The bitcoin price has already started increasing today and you never know we might hit 3000$ before August 1. Miracle do happen in bitcoin world  Wink

3470  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I decided to hold Bitcoin. Any wallet recommendations? on: July 16, 2017, 05:12:58 PM
Any software wallet would do. There's really no reason to go with paper wallets there just kind of strange in more of a gift novelty item.  Wink  just need to have private key in control.
3471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin dead... on: July 16, 2017, 04:48:02 PM
I just wonder what people gain by spreading things like this. I am sure if the price rebounds they will also be the first set of people to create a thread for that purpose and you see something like ''bitcoin is going to the moon'' '' bitcoin will reach 10000$ before ending of the month'' among several other predictions. But guess what, Op has just expressed his opinion which I feel does not change anything at all. For me, the resolution is still very much stronger than anything else.

Let the losers sing the sorrow hymns, it makes no sense why they just chance on a slight tumble in bitcoin prices and make their voices heard. Everyone on this forum will be my witness that we've heard many of such like comments yet Bitcoin bounced back and make a public spectacle of these negative commentators and so we should fret over their doom predictions; it's nothing new and they will swallow up their words in due time.

Let them speak and think that bitcoin is dead. Rather I will suggest such people so sell all their bitcoin so that price may fall further  Wink Just let everyone know bitcoin is not falling, it is moving to the long term trusted holders. Many are buying these days and  in a matter of few weeks, bitcoin will cross the all time high value.
3472  Economy / Economics / Re: If USD falls on: July 16, 2017, 03:38:57 PM
You forget a few important things in your speech

More specifically, that Bitcoin is not valued just in the US dollars. It could indeed be priced mostly in dollars but the dollar just happens to be there, happens to be a universal yardstick. But if people start, for example, weighing gold in grams instead of ounces, gold won't lose value just because of that. That basically means that people which buy and sell bitcoins don't care much if Bitcoin price is denominated in dollars. They have their own currencies which are more important to them (including those you enumerated), and the dollar as such is pretty insignificant to these folks. So if there are more people involved in Bitcoin which are using these other currencies for their everyday activities, the failure of the dollar would mean nothing to them, nothing negative. To them, Bitcoin will be a separate currency in no way linked to the US dollar or the US economy unlike the stocks of the American companies. This is where you make a mistake by implicitly linking Bitcoin to Murika

[/img noped]

In short, Bitcoin is not some overpriced American stock

Stock has nothing to do with it, but it is overpriced in the sense that its value far outweighs its utility. But that's a separate point.

Bitcoin is denominated in dollars as well as other currencies, but if you're trying to sell the idea that the loss of the world's most stable currency from the market would mean "nothing negative" for the traders in every other currency, well that's a terrible position you've backed yourself into defending! Especially considering that it's the excess wealth created by our currently stable world economy that gives speculative assets their value. Guess what happens if everything goes to chaos... speculative assets crash. That's what the Great Depression and the Great Recession showed, as well as the Dotcom crash. All of it was speculation driven nonsense, and when the mania couldn't sustain the overpriced assets anymore, all that money that was propping up the speculative assets fled to safer assets. But I'm sure Bitcoin is the one speculative exception that would continue to thrive when a bulk of the buying pressure propping it up disappears, right? That's what you have to believe to argue from your side of it.

As the saying goes, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater

But in this case this saying sort of works in reverse, i.e. instead of separating the baby from the water, you pour even more water unto it. Basically, you are equaling the world economic meltdown with the crash of the US dollar. While these two events are certainly intertwined (to a degree), I still wouldn't equal them. In other words, if the dollar slowly loses its grip on the world finances (just as it rose to prominence in the first place), it can ultimately disappear from the world economic arena altogether, and that would pass almost unnoticed. Obviously, no bitcoin will get hurt in the process

That's a fair distinction. If the dollar loses prominence over an extended period of time, it can disappear without much consequence at the end of the downward spiral. However, this would be a trend that plays out over decades. Any sudden fall would be too disruptive for bitcoin to survive. There has to be ample time for orderly transition in order for it not to be chaotic and disrupt the status quo.

They do this so that the US public won't panic and do things that are just crazy and make things not work out. It's not about the actual US dollar anymore it's about the opinion of the United States public in regards to the US dollar.
3473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Bitcoin Client do you use and why ? on: July 16, 2017, 03:33:05 PM
Bitcoin Core is the best. You have complete and total control of everything, from the TX fees, the inner chain and every moment of the entire process of creating a TX is all you.

3474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can bitcoin wallet be hacked by hackers? on: July 16, 2017, 10:50:25 AM
can they hack into our wallet. There are many professional hackers out there. What are the chances? Also what is the safest way to safeguard ourself?
That is possible if you are using third party program an that is online wallet and I think if you are gonna use a authentication then you are safe from hackers and another is the hard core wallet just like trezor and any other wallet that you are the only one that is holding the private key to access the wallet.

Bitcoin can be hacked if you are less careful. Keeping 2fa for online wallets and keeping the Passphrase of desktop wallet safe, can never lead to loss in he coins. It is our carelessness which be blame to others when we lose the coins.
3475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cause of Bitcoin Drop (7/14/2017) on: July 16, 2017, 10:19:33 AM
Bitcoin price will keep falling 2 weeks more. For sure there is a good buying opportunity there.
80 % of the marketcap of total crypto market comes from the people who just joined for gain reasons and they have no idea about how cryptocurrencies work. and they even dont understand how come they can have intrinsic value. but it doesnt matter for them because they earn money. However if prices fall they are first to abandon the ship because they think the price can go down to ZERO. no surprise that price falls sharply. But it is a good think for the people who has a deep understanding of world. Many investors think that bitcoin is a ponzi. Thats true actually but another fact is that Fiats, governments even the college degree is a ponzi as well. think about it

No matter how they treat it, the real investors will always take this as a positive  sign to buy more coins which they are cheap. One thing which is missed by most is that bitcoin is digital currency and future is only of Digital.
3476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the best wallets to hold bitcoin through agust 1? on: July 16, 2017, 09:49:58 AM
I think any wallet of which you have private key is the best wallet to use in this scenario. Online wallets are not safe in case a split happens. If there is no split then of course you can keep any wallet Wink
3477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum in 5 years on: July 16, 2017, 09:16:07 AM
Once eth goes to pos there will be no need for miners to sell it to cover their power bills. Less selling, more buying.

ETH going to 0??  What u mean ETH going to pos?  Point of sale?  Or piece of @@@@?
Also it could not even handle a simple forking without extreme issues and becoming two coins. What a joke, you guys keep following that falling star and the rest of us will follow the coins that have potential, thanks again.

3478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETHEREUM BLOCKCHAIN SIZE IS NOW 180GB SO 40% BIGGER THAN BITCOIN BLOCKCHAIN ! on: July 16, 2017, 02:53:20 AM
http://www.altcointoday.com/ethereums-blockchain-size-surpasses-bitcoins-by-40/

So is ETH going to sink to the same levels as once upon a time giants like QuarkCoin, FastCoin and alike?

I mean who wants to wait a week for the block to sync? Who wants to carry 180GB+ of blockchain for a coin that is NOT #1 and will never be #1

 Shocked

And people talk like this is the miracle coin, and it is going to replace all others. Well, it certainly encompasses the biggest issues of all the other coins  Sad
3479  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BTCpop.co on: July 16, 2017, 02:48:24 AM
There is always the Bitcoin address that has never seen a dime, maybe that is why you have no collateral or money and just beg for loans under six different accounts.
3480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lol so many newbs flooding the forum asking same questions on: July 16, 2017, 02:44:33 AM
Everyone has to start somewhere and we were all newbs at one point... still it would be nice if more people would do a Google search or two and have at least a clue about cryptocurrencies in general before posting threads here.

If I had saved my Bitcoins from 2011-2012 I'd be allot better off then I am now, but I think that's the case for most of us.

cryptocurrency training courses, or how about mandatory self-certification of crypto 101 course before beeing allowed to register on this forum Wink
Because we let them come here and ask. If we would direct them away from us, they might actually get good answers and not the games that people are on here to play
