1181  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Q2 2020 Performance - Price Gained 78% from March's Plunge on: July 06, 2020, 06:55:23 PM
This is common and was expected due to the Bitcoin Halving. Some were also expecting that price to be maintained until the end of the year. Some (most daily traders and newbie investors) find it a disadvantage as it will not increased more than it's ceiling price (which is approx $10,000+) at the end of the year or even up to years to pass, hence forcing them to hold and invest in the long run (not unless he's a professional trader). Overall, the 78% increase isn't really that drastic enough to reach it's highest price on all time ($20,000+).

the halving related rise wasn't just expectations though, it was analysis and previous behavior.
most importantly it was a correct speculation. price did have a major rise before the halving but the problem was that right before that rise it had a major drop so most of that rise was actually the recovery from that drop. in other words if there were no corona-virus market crash or if it had come at least 2 months later then bitcoin price would have been a lot higher by now and stuck below $20k resistance instead of here.

there is also another phase to halving rise which always comes after the halving meaning now that a couple of months has passed. we should slowly start seeing the effects of $8-$9 million less bitcoin being sold on daily basis (that is $250 million in a month).
1182  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Top 5 Cryptocurrencies to Watch This Week: BTC, NEO, TRX, XTZ, VET. on: July 06, 2020, 05:40:42 PM
there is nothing to watch in bitcoin unless you are accumulating it because the price is staying stable like previous months and has not shown any signs of any kind of change so far.

as for other altcoins mentioned in the article i don't think we can predict what any of them are going to do because as with the nature of the pumps, they are unpredictable and most of the times these pumps fail.
although there are currently some fake hypes going on with some altcoins that could succeed in their near future pumps.
1183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Coinomi BUG or ...? on: July 06, 2020, 02:46:53 PM
its a 214 MB file ... as i see some lines are duplicated, i think i have at least 500 k lines
I've received the file. It has 2435570 lines.
Four lines missed an "ENTER", after splitting those lines into two lines, each line was in there exactly 5 times.

After removing duplicates, I have 487115 lines left. It's comforting to know my own Coinomi password isn't in there.
The most common "password"  in there is "Aa123456." with 212904 occurrences. It looks like something based on commonly used passwords.

yeah, to me it also looks more like a rainbow table with a dictionary of the most common passwords and their equivalent salted hashes using MD5 hash algorithm. so it may not exactly be coming from Coinomi but be related to it. possibly a malware on OP's computer tried it but were broken enough to show the table itself!
1184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Philippines SEC warns against crypto investment. on: July 06, 2020, 02:30:40 PM
this is pretty much the same warning that every country and even every experienced member of crypto community has given others.
the platforms such as ethereum and all the tokens on it are terrible for investment and majority of them are indeed scams (by definition a Ponzi scheme). and also we always warn people no to invest more than they can afford to lose in bitcoin as it is volatile and unpredictable.

it is just news sites that are trying to be sneaky and change the context a little bit or use vague language to appear as if the warning is something different!
1185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does bitcoin need an addition of a safety feature? User friendly? on: July 06, 2020, 01:53:30 PM
you seem to be very confused about what bitcoin is!
bitcoin is not a platform
bitcoin is not a money making machine or a cow you milk
bitcoin is not a centralized company
bitcoin is not anonymous
bitcoin doesn't need anybody's approval specially governments'
bitcoin is not banned in more than 90% of the world
....

bitcoin is already the safest payment system that has ever existed and whether or not some users fail to educate themselves due to laziness is their fault. nothing can change to help them otherwise.
1186  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to fined SigWit Publick key ??? on: July 06, 2020, 01:44:18 PM
Big Thank All of You !!! You get me axact information what I search.
So now it's  your turn, what is your ultimate goal with this/these public keys? I'm sure it's not just so you can fire up some software...

if you check his post history and what topic he has been super active in you can probably guess why he is looking for "public key" specifically! hint ECDLP Wink
1187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are these just signs of a very bad month for BTC scaling solutions? on: July 03, 2020, 06:37:48 PM
RBF is part of Bitcoin protocol,

no it is not part of the "protocol". RBF is more like standard rules that a node can apply or choose not to. or they could even apply a very different design for what they think RBF transactions should be like.

and it is not a double spending because the transaction was not confirmed within the block.
when you spend the same transaction output in two different transactions it is a double spend. that makes every RBF transaction a double spend by definition and it has nothing to do with being confirmed or not.
1188  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I wish there was an option to invest in multiple coins via one purchase on: July 03, 2020, 06:28:38 PM
the feature was removed because nobody in their right mind would want to do that. investors never invest in altcoins instead they only pay attention to them in short term while they are getting pumped. for example over the past 3 years ETH has lost a huge percentage of its value compared to when it was pumping and has not recovered at all.
that is why investors invest in bitcoin 100% then use that bitcoin to trade altcoins so that they could increase it.

-snip-
The weird thing about the fee questioning is the fact that you can literally claim the whole fee with just free faucet claims, so you would basically not pay a single cent on anything at all. Sure you can consider it money lost because otherwise it would be in your account, but you can't claim this place has fee's that bothers you since they are giving it away.

Plus this place has one of the cheapest fee's I have ever seen, they are not slow neither they are quite fast, so at the end of the day they are doing it both cheap and fast, you can't ask anything more than this. I had another question, could we have more options with our reward points? I have some and I think very soon I will be capable of changing it to satoshi, however the options of what we can do with it is quite limited, could we have more stuff?

i wasn't complaining about the fee here though. i was pointing out the high fee with other services and the fact that they are trying to make profit by charging bigger fees.

in any case i like the idea of adding more things that we could do with the reward points. even though there are many good options. maybe you should give suggestions if you have any.
my suggestion would be an "earn multiplier" where the daily profit could be multiplied by using the reward points like the way it multiplies lottery tickets,...
1190  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin whales are multiplying—while also getting poorer on: July 03, 2020, 04:47:51 PM
@buwaytress. There are more whales today, however slightly poorer in amount of bitcoins held. However, very much richer in amount counted in fiat than the whales of 2016 hehehe.

there are more whales today, i can see that but i don't see any way for us to know whether the whales that existed before actually lost bitcoin or not as a group. individual whales have obviously lost bitcoin for example a lot of them lost a lot of bitcoin during 2017 trying to go against the market or manipulate it and were dumpstered.
1191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Coinomi BUG or ...? on: July 03, 2020, 04:37:43 PM
To me, this is really weird, because according to what Coinomi says, all user data is only on the user's device, and there is an encrypted application data folder where seed/keys are stored. What interests me is where the user's password is stored? According to this, it turns out that it is located on a Coinomi server that sent everything to one user during an update in some crazy bug Huh

words of a centralized and closed source wallet mean absolutely nothing. it would be like Coinbase saying they aren't sending all your activities to the authorities every second.
they also have a bad history of doing strange things that make no sense like sending the seed to their server to be checked! so i wouldn't be surprised if their servers also stored the wallet passwords.
1192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin truly a safe-haven asset? on: July 02, 2020, 03:31:16 PM
Bitcoin can't be faked, and it is one of bitcoins strengths. But if you have gold that has been verified to be real what could happen to it besides it being robbed? Nothing.
True. But the problem here is not necessarily the gold that you own that you think is legitimate. It's the process of knowing if every gold you receive is legitimate. Imagine manually verifying each gold nugget you receive. This is a problem if you're planning on actually owning the gold physically.

another problem that it doesn't look like a problem until it becomes a disaster is that nowadays with all these markets and banksters people aren't even physically owning bitcoin. paper gold, contracts and all that crap have replaced it. if things go bad all these people are also screwed Cheesy
1193  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US economy suddenly recovering? on: July 01, 2020, 05:11:28 PM
The mortality curve of corona appears to be on the decline ^. Infections are rising while lethality appears to significantly decrease.

well in reality it is not. the mortality rate is also increasing as the number of new infected cases has increased to the point where it is currently at its all time high.
the reason why the reports show less death rate is because some of the Coronavirus deaths are being categorized under a different cause of death such as lung failure, heart disease and similar causes that share symptoms with COVID alongside a false negative result for the dead patients' COVID test.
1194  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market Gonna be volatile again! Nothing New though on: July 01, 2020, 05:02:45 PM
we still can not call the bitcoin market "volatile" because it is doing what it has been doing for 2 or 3 months now which is to go sideways from $9k to $10k and back again to repeat the cycle over and over.
it will only become "volatile" when it breaks $10k and goes above it, which would start by the very big FOMO brining the price suddenly up to $13k then after a short correction the big rallies begin.
1195  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: July 01, 2020, 04:23:40 PM
We have low transaction fees because we consolidate all our deposits and batch together withdrawals making the amount of data for each user's share in each transaction smaller. That does mean that all user's transactions are dependant on each other. To allow individual users to choose fees independently would mean we have to change the entire system resulting in higher fees for everyone. It's a balancing act between faster confirmations and higher fees and we think with the nature of our site the majority would opt for lower fees and the occasional wait.

I'm a frequent user at the site and I actually always use the slow transaction option when withdrawing and I've always found it to be the cheapest option at all the sites I play on and trust me I play a lot. Sure, I have to wait up to several hours before the tx is even broadcast but if I want it urgent I can request instant anyway.

Even a few weeks ago when network was so full most other sites were charging 50k or even 100k. and it was 3600 on FBC?

it is mainly because many of those sites are trying to make a profit from their withdrawal requests too. also these types of business similar to what most exchanges do want people to keep their money in their accounts and by having higher fees they discourage withdrawals.
this site on the other hand has always charged the network transaction fee and nothing more.
1196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Opinion: 2020 Rise of Crypto Travel - Bitcoin & Altcoin Expansion? on: July 01, 2020, 04:07:23 PM
the only relative argument that you could have made  when you speak about tourism and travel is that unlike any other fiat, even the popular everywhere fiat like USD is that bitcoin is a global currency. so it is not just about booking flights or the vacation. instead using bitcoin could potentially have the benefit of not having to exchange your money to another currency before travel which is a hassle for tourists. not to mention that carrying around bitcoin is a lot safer than carrying around money.
1197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lesson plans about Bitcoin achieved on: July 01, 2020, 03:38:02 PM
6. Last week would be used for quizzes and setting up Bitcoin accounts and prizes would be won for serious students among them.

it is good to know about bitcoin TestNet in this step since many may not want to or not have extra money to buy bitcoin with. TestNet coins are free since they have no value and the good wallets support TestNet which anyone can use (like electrum).
that way they don't risk anything while freely learning about how to truly use bitcoin with their desktop wallets.

1198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dormant bitcoins and bullrun correlation ? on: June 29, 2020, 04:10:42 PM
i wouldn't use this as a signal or even for analyzing the market and the upcoming bull-run but it is certainly an interesting chart to look at and do some analysis on.
we all know that most of 2018 and all of 2019 has been the accumulation phase where a lot of wise investors kept buying bitcoin regardless of the FUD in the media. looking at that chart we can explain why there is a big slope during 2019 red-line which is a year from the start of accumulation and goes upwards and it continues up until today as the accumulation is still ongoing and will slow down as the bull run itself starts and everyone becomes active again which should be in the second half of 2020.
1199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can I just delete my wallet and use my 12-word recovery key as my “storage”? on: June 29, 2020, 03:20:58 PM
12 word passwords disgust me

May I ask, is this a personal preference, or is there a technical reason why this might not be a good idea?
Dictionaries can be collected, I think a private key is stronger, and I would like it longer, just as xmr's monstruosity.
Probably a personal preference yes but if you don't do them very well you might be more vulnerable for sure, they constantly being farmed and stockpiled.

you are confusing passwords with mnemonics.
a password is in most cases not so random and is chosen by the user which makes a dictionary attack a viable option although 12 words is still a very hard one to crack.
a mnemonic on the other hand is simply a different representation of a random entropy that was created by the computer the same way it creates a random private key for you. so if you trust the wallet to create a private key for you, then you can also trust it to create a random mnemonic for you since they have the same exact security level on 12 words (128 bits of entropy).
1200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who got the 10.000 bitcoins for the 2 pizzas? on: June 29, 2020, 03:11:53 PM
I do agree with what he said.
The only problem is the number of merchants.
It seems, they still have doubts and those doubts must be erased so they can start into using bitcoin as a payment option.

There are a lot who gambles bitcoin if we look at the gambling section.
Why not for the purpose of buying merchandise also?
I cannot buy pizza every day. It will make me fat.  Grin

the problem is the users not the merchants. if the merchants have doubts it is because users are not yet willing to spend their bitcoins. and mostly they spend while price is rising and go into HODL mode when it is dropping or is stable like these days.

as for gamblers i believe that they are a small percentage of the total bitcoin world since in the long run everyone loses and gives up. they are most visible when seed in a gambling board but are lost among everyone else.
