Makes sense. Still like having the ability to move all staked by default to an address or two. It could be mentioned on that screen that it's possible.
Yes, it feels like an arbitrary limit, but I welcome it - it gives me an ability to hedge against loss and for it to be effective, I dont need a higher count than 50%. I've heard CLAMs have their own implementation of staking to a different address, I wonder what are the limits there. I have considered moving this 50% up, but so far I like the 50%. The reason I initially choose it, was if there was a roll back, the S4C would send again, thereby causing 100% of the stake to be sent. If the max value was 100% it would chew away at the principal which would defeat the purpose. The double send error has been fixed, so moving this up 100% could be safer. The other reason I choose 50% was that I wanted the users base to always increase, so both a charity and the user would benefit.

Anyone having trouble down loading block chain? My client quit loading blocks on Friday July 17, 2015 around 6pm CST. Block chain appears to be moving, been using 2.1 version. Uploaded 2.2.2 to see it that would start blocks loading on this client. Have 10 connections, not sure what is up? Version 2.1 has worked well for almost a year now. Anyone have a clue on why not able to down load blocks for past day?
Peace, Dennis
Debug (last few hundred lines) could help. I was behind by a week, just caught up on 2.2.0 no issues. Could be a corrupt chain? Check your time as well, make sure it is correct.

Between work, family and Ninja training I have been pretty swamped.
Are you a ninja? Do you live in Japan? Of course he's a ninja Look how well his coins perform... iirc Tranz is training for ninja warrior competition. Ya!. If it works out and I get on TV, I'll be wearing an HBN shirt. I'll be the HoboNinija.

Staking threshholds still confuse me. So I've got about 77k. What should my numbers be? I hate having hundreds of 1-2hbn stakes
I have 100 Split and 50 combine in there as of now but not sure what they mean.
I think that is good. I would just set them to the max you are allowed, which maybe the max default. As the money supply grows I will up the defaults, public max, and large stake holder max.
|
|
|
What if I have small blocks (0.1-3 coins per block), a total over 100k? Can I still set split/combine to 200 and expect staking to take place?
Yes I also suggest upping the combinethrehold to your own max as well. It will help keep combine all the small blocks into bigger ones.

I just discovered HBN recently, is there a good intro on how best to maximize stake returns? What are the main factors involved? Do you need to keep the wallet open 24/7?
The best way is to keep your blocks between 500-1000. IMO. PoS difficulty is still pretty low, so no worries about staking. You are just trying to prevent yourself from being capped, at 250. You do not have ot keep wallet open all the time. Somne like to, as they utilize S4C, and just like to keep stakes coming in all the time. Some would rather turn off for a bit, and then catchup every few days or weeks and get their stakes(sometimes at the cap) then go back to sleep for a while. Depends on your hardware, your time, and your objectives, on what you want to do.
|
|
|
so if i type splitthreshold 9000 it will split it if the block size goes above 9000?
Correct.
|
|
|
how do you use split/combine feature?
If newest wallet, there are rpccommands. All 1.5s have start up switches as well.

I´m looking for donations to add CAP: http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/Admin is presstab, Dev of Hyperstake(HYP) I´m willing to donate 0.10 BTC but still 0.20 BTC to go. I think it would be a really nice to have Bottlecaps listed there also. I'll chip in 0.10 btc if anyone else does the same we could have another cool explorer for CAP. Is it a lifetime subscription for 0.20btc or annual? I have been able to migrate to more cost efficient servers in the last few days(a pain in the ass but worth it). I am now able to lower prices to around 0.2 btc for 6 months. If you guys are still interested, just let me know and I will get my server syncing CAP asap. i would chip in 0.1,too so we are at 0.2 now to get it started which btc adress i send this 0.1 to, presstab? Send to 1NDLmzfbGhSnLr7jLvwH99cneLhbcEwdkZ I will get the daemon syncing while you guys organize the funds. Some of these long chains can take some time to sync (even with bootstraps). BTW does anyone have a link to a bootstrap? if not can someone upload a bootstrap somewhere? All you need to do is rename your blk0001.dat to bootstrap.dat . Thanks! Cool deal presstab. I'll throw one up tonight, if you still need one.

Hey, I started to see a weird message when I went to open up my 1.3.1.0 wallet. The wallet has been working since I updated. It is encrypted, but I unlocked it to do PoS and it has been minting. I had to do some work on my rig and powered it down, and this came up when I restarted it. I have the wallet to start up when I restart the rig. (Running win 8 )
" "MinGW Runtime Assertion"
Assertion failed!
Program: C:\HoboNickels-qt-1.3.1.0\Hobonickels-qt.exe
File: src\kernel.cpp, Line 372
Expression: pindex->pprev ||pindex->GetBlockHash() == (!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet) " Then if I select "retry", I get
" Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error!
Program C:\HoboNickels-qt-1.3.1.0\Hobonickels-qt.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." I have no idea what this means, or what to do about it, because I'm not QTwallet master.
Can someone give me some insight as to why this happened and what to do about it?
I'm assuming that I need to backup my wallet.dat and delete some shit from my appdata roaming folder or something, but I really don't know.
Let me know if I need to post up more info.
Yes, as presstab stated, you will need to navigate to %appdata%/HoboNickels folder and remove the database directory, txleveldb directory, and blk0001.dat file. You can re-sync or use the files presstab has given. You should, as you noted, make a copy of your wallet.dat before you do this. Finally if possible, could you or someone else, rar/zip up all the files i just mentioned, that are causing this error, and put them somewhere. I would like to to do some testing with them to nip this bug in upcoming v1.4 release. Thanks FYI I am getting this same error after updating to 1.5.1 from 1.5.0. Error remains if I try and go back to 1.5.0. Time for a re-sync... Anyone have a recent blockchain download? HCLivess put some together https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/33271-new-hbn-bootstrap-and-peerlist/ I haven't tested them but I am sure they are fine. I'll upload a new one tonight as well.

I get these same warning. I can't figure out why. I used the same libraries, the same machine, the same code base. With only a very small code changes between the 2 versions. My guess is someone created a virus that using 2.2.1 to zombine mine, and it is now flagged. In any event both are perfectly safe, and both have IRC turned off. 2.1 works great so no issues there. I will be releasing 2.2.2, with some minor updates, so perhaps that will not be flagged, we shall see. Version 2.2.2.0 is now ready. https://github.com/Tranz5/bottlecaps/releases This will remove the checkpoint warning. So far now virus warnings here, but please do let me know if you get any. I know many of you want themes. I will work on this for my next update.

Tranz Im going to post the updated wallet on my site. In the changelog it says "allows for larger amounts". Im assuming staking amounts. What is the largest stake block size without hitting max reward now plz? Vegas Allows for larger stake/combine threshold values. Same equation as CAPs but just change the 1000 to 250 and the Pr to 1.00as base rate. Although .95 is safe. Obviously that number will depend upon how old the coins are, and what the current yearly percentage stake rewards is. Assuming they stake right at the 10 day mark and we are at 100% yearly, the biggest you can have without hitting the cap is approx 9,100. The equation is: 250 / ((Pr/365 ) * D) Pr is Percentage reward which starts at 1.00 D is Days old. Reply

is there a wallet fix for this ? WARNING: Checkpoint is too old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify developers.
This may be an issue with the checkpoint server being offline, not necessarily a wallet issue. Maybe Tranz or somebody can confirm. The network doesn't need the checkpoint server in order to function properly. It's just an added security measure. Correct I will issue a wallet to remove this warning. Checkpoints are now being issued much less frequently. But the network is very good without them.

Thanks! Did you manage to recover your backup password with this tool, and how long did it take (excluding the programming)? If I may ask, what's the length of your password?
Yes I got my pass. It took the computer 20 seconds. I knew pretty closely what my pass was, I was off by 1 letter. 16 long.
