It would be nice to get a readme file or something in the wallet download. My girlfriends first crypto was HBN. She only bought BTC to buy HBN. She also bought a 280x to mine some. She got her first HBN a month ago but failed on POS. I had to set everything up for her. First bad decision was encrypt the wallet. Then after 2 weeks she dug out some console command to unlock but that didnt stick either because she closed the wallet at some point on her laptop. That got her very frustrated and now she's not rly into it anymore. Says its too tech-knowledge-demanding. Just a headsup for you guys.
Actually a full help page is something I did have in mind. We do have the wiki setup here as well. http://wiki.hobonickels.info/The newest version in beta testing(1.3.5.0), has many of the things you asked about built in the gui. You can try it out by grabbing it from my release section for 1.3 ( https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels/releases/tag/1.3.0.0) direct link ( https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels/releases/download/1.3.0.0/HoboNickels-qt-1.3.5.0.zip ), password for zip is beta Thanks for the feedback.

can someone push this coin on mintpal
i would do it but i don't know what i am supposed to do
Personally, as I have famously argued in many places, I wouldn't recommend adding the coin to more exchanges yet. I'd give it more time to mature. Too many big exchanges can put too much downward price pressure on a coin when it's still relatively new. But, for the sake of completion, you typically need to get a bunch of people to vote and/or bribe the exchanges to get it added. Mintpal accepts btc to "buy votes" which gets you way more votes that simply voting. Crypto Rush also has a voting system, I am not sure if they accept payment for additional votes or not. I do not know if they have openly admitted to it, but Cryptsy has also been accused many, many times of adding a coin as a result of receiving compensation to do so. Really though, I would wait until the value is steadily rising and the coin is accepted at a lot more merchants. Just my two hobonickels. Good advice. I agree with your synopsis in your article. I come from a background of stocks and bonds. So I measure ROI in terms of years and decades. Seems cryptionians want to measure it in days and weeks. Patience is always a good thing.

This looks interesting. Good luck!
Few questions...
Will PoS coins receive stake?
Also for something at appears to have a lot of work put into it, why are you flirting the line with intellectual property. Nintendo is very protective of their IP. Could spell trouble down the road.

Love the look of the explorer. Thanks unick!

I am just curious, why isn't hbn on cryptorush? It seems like they list plenty of far less... 'mature' coins.
I personally do not push the coin on anyone. If the market wants it, it is here. I do always appreciate others advocating getting HBN accepted!

Staking of smaller blocks will take longer but you are rewarded with a higher interest so it all evens out. More and more people are now staking, so it will take longer. Give it time. I do have some 5 coin blocks that are +45 days that haven't staked yet. But I also just got one that mined on Feb 15 that just staked last night, but I got .3 out the of 5 block. So it all evens out.
In my opinion the only time to really combine blocks are if you are getting alot of orphans, but even that it really doesn't matter much. I only do it if they gui becomes unresponsive due to many thousand of small blocks.

why when i run the wallet on mac i get lot of orphans on stake but on windows not many?
The current mac wallet does create more orphans. My belief is that the efficiency of staking on the mac is reduced and it takes longer for the block to get out of the kernel. My suggestion is to combine blocks on the Mac client and have fewer larger blocks competing for stake. This should reduce the amount of orphans. I'll continue to look at ways to improve this.

Here is some March staking action. A bunch of orphans but that block worth 105.79001 has over 16 confirms now so not bad at all. You may want to checkout the pre-release of 1.4 (1.3.5.0) A lot of nice features. Clean up the orphans, and get better information about staking. https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/4390-preparing-hbn-v14/?p=64557Still some work to do for the full 1.4 release, but I thought it was important stuff to get out to users. Enjoy!
