Those clickable icons with info tabs in the latest release are simply fantastic as well as many other useful features. BTW, do you plan to finally change HOBO to HBN in your wallet?  I don't know, it was originally HBN, then it was changed by another dev to Hobo. I've left it. I think HBN is more professional, but Hobo is more fun. So I'd leave it up to you guys. I can change it to HBN for release 1.4, what say you all? |

Correct.
Some coins have imposed a hard limit on the reward for Stake. Whether it be from 1 very large block, or a very old block. HBN does not have that restriction. It is worth discussing if it should or not.

So how would you describe the max coin age of 30 days?
What does this mean in practical terms?
Essentially, if you have 100 coins that are 180 days old, and I have 100 coins that are 45 days old. Both will have equal opportunity to generate stake. Whereas 100 coins at 10 days, has less chance than 100 coins at 20 days. |

Wonder if you could clarify something for me.
I notice in the rich list (interesting browse) there is an address - Evg3P2W4sdfEbXsN1p5YxbE84hJFYmAnjQ ~ 133k HBN
This address has only 2 deposit transactions in Sept 2013 and hasn't staked since.
My question is on the coin age.
The coin age in that wallet is now over the 150 day mark, but the maximum coin age (an idea I'm not sure I grasp correctly) is 30 days for staking.
When (if the wallet is not lost) this address stakes will it generate for
a) 30 days coin age - is anything lost for holding a closed wallet for so long?
b) 150+ days,
c) multiple 30 day blocks adding up to 150 days?
Compounded interest or not?
Also I'd like to take the opportunity to say good job on this coin by all involved.
All blocks can generate stakes up to the current yearly intrest rate. Which does change as more people stake. So in this case if these do come up for stake they will receive a nice pop. This will cause the staking and pow difficultly to move up to compensate for the extra coins, eventually it will even it self out again. Does not matter if it is 1 block or many. All are treated the same. You do miss out on compounded interest so a constant stake is better for you and the network.. |

Hi, a stake-question here. I'm seeing generated stake-coins, but they don't add up to the balance. For every 1 HBN stake, the balance only goes up 0,1 or so.

Not sure I totally understand your questions. But to answer it in other terms. When block(set of coins) goes into the stake balance of the wallet, it is not usable until 25 confirmations, after that time, you are rewarded for your work, by the interest . It starts at 2.7% at 10 days and can go much higher if your coins take longer to stake. So to get .1 out of 1 would mean your 1 coin took 30+ days to stake and you got 10% interest off of that. I am running a production compile test with qt 5.2 and boost 1.54, right now.

Any chance of getting a "top 100 address" list for HBN? Sort of what Blackcoin has. I know that the Sci-Fi coins also have a "top 5" address list on their block explorers as well.
It would be a useful tool to see how heavy individual address are invested and the amount of HBN going in/out of the address.
Although I can understand the need/want for this. I won't be participating. It isn't a lot of complex code, basically putting the known addresses into an array/hash and add/subtracting from them to get current balance. But I don't have a ton of extra time for this. I also think this brings up a privacy and security issues. Since most larger holders are going to want to stake, if I am watching for one of these addresses to start up staking. I know they are online. With some cleaver watching I can begin to narrow down the number of IPs these are coming from. Soon enough I can get that IP, and begin looking for holes to exploit. |

Why is the price of hobo dropping? Does it have anything to do with BlackCoin?
Bear market for alts in general. I don't see many being spared. Also it recently ran up, so some type of correction to the mean is inevitable. Other then that could be large holder, selling out. In any even it could be a chance to load up on cheap coins for the long haul. Wait for some moving average to cross back up. |
