281  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which bitcoin wallet is the safest and the most convenient? on: August 15, 2015, 12:14:18 PM
You should understand the concept about Cold/Hot Wallets.

A cold wallets holds most of your money and is save/offline: I still use paper wallets for that, but might switch to a hardware wallet like trezor in the near future.

A hot wallet contains what you really want to use and is not that save/online(since every device that is connected to the internet could be compromised): I use mostly Mycelium for that, since it is not really convenient to have your wallet only on your pc.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you didn't get paid for your signature, would you still care about Bitcoin? on: August 15, 2015, 12:08:47 PM
lol
Are you serious?
I have invested a huge load of my savings into Bitcoin, because:
1) I don't trust banks and am pretty sure, the whole system will crash in a few years and so following scenarios might happen
  a) Euro directly will lose value
  b) Banks will just take some of my money to save them self(Cypress)
  c) Banks will close and just delete my balance
2) I hope the price will go up.

also the money I earn with sig campaigns isn't really that much and posting not worth the time, if it would only be for earning BTC.
283  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What Tokyo's Mt Gox Ruling Means for Bitcoin in Japan on: August 15, 2015, 11:23:34 AM
I haven't heard about that court decision since now, but I am not surprised by that judgement.
I guess in my country(Austria) there would be a similar judgement.

I also think, that if the whole case would have been about cash, there would be a similar judgement. Bringing physical notes to a bank, doesn't mean, that they have to give you the exact same notes back, if you request it.
284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Comedian Louis C.K Begins Accepting Bitcoin on: August 15, 2015, 11:10:30 AM
Wow, that is huge.
I am not really familiar with that stuff, but I guess Louis C.K is currently more popular than Mike Tyson.

I wonder, how he came to it. Louis C.K doesn't seem like a tech savy person, but neither seems Tatiana Moroz(quite the different, since I started listening to her show on the LTB network).

I guess artists will be the next big adopters for crypto currency/p2p-networks, since they got screwed over by a lot of companies in the last few years.
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SABR monitors multiple blockchains to identify and locate criminal activity on: August 15, 2015, 10:03:31 AM
Is there any proof that they can do that?
I guess, they are just full of bullshit. Who are these guys? Are they know in the Bitcoin World? What Proprietary Data is there in Bitcoin? It's open source and an open ledger.
You just have to look into the Deep Web and find thousands of people, who claim such things
Why would they not be able to do it? I mean you can monitor all altcoins if you want to, however software is required if you want to actually do something with that information.
I'm not sure exactly how effective it might be. However, the easiest way to get information would be once a suspicious address sends coins to a exchange such as Bitstamp and request information from there.

Now, my question is where are the Monero promoters. They should not be able to track people using it, so it can be used to clean your money/hide your tracks.
Oh, sure, Bitstamp will just give them any information they want.  Roll Eyes
Is that the Proprietary Data they are talking about? Do they have good contacts to every exchange and mixer there is?

287  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing Btcmines - beautiful minesweeper game on: August 14, 2015, 07:25:32 PM
Since your site is still in beta/work in progress, I think its better to give us some free bits to test your site. IMHO there will be nobody deposit and risk their money to a new beta site.

You can test it, without depositing.
Just enter a random amount, even thought your balance is 0.
(It also confused me at first)
288  Economy / Gambling / Re: Introducing Btcmines - beautiful minesweeper game on: August 14, 2015, 10:42:26 AM
Does it already work? It says "v1 This is demo site" at the Bottom.
Can I deposit and withdraw?
There seems to be some problems at least with Chrome. What browser is it tested for?
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining is clearly profitable still, why was cex.io allowed to defraud investors on: August 14, 2015, 08:39:01 AM
I haven't really looked much into cloud mining(or mining at all for some time).

That sounds a lot like cex.io was a Ponzi. But I guess, their contract was solid enough to avoid a lawsuit.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi in MS office example pic on: August 14, 2015, 08:31:10 AM
So it appears Satoshi hasn't disappeared after all. see 3rd pic in link below.

https://blogs.office.com/2015/08/12/new-outlook-partner-add-ins-and-expanded-rollout-of-outlook-com-preview/

Still sending emails from his gmx.com account and all.  Wink

Kinda strange that Microsoft would use an example image like that one. Thought I'd just post it here for fun.

He/She/They no longer control that address.

It was hacked a while back, I dont think much useful info came of it though.  Strange though that "he" has been able to secure his identity, and seemingly not care that "he" has millions of btc just kicking around, but he couldnt secure an email address...

Maybe it wasn't secure because he abandoned the email address and every hint towards him long before it was hacked? He didn't change password anymore after all.
As far as I remember, someone used the password recovery-function, which required to guess the birthdate and someone just brute forced it.
Actually, what Satoshi did, was pretty smart. He just abandoned every account that was linked to his fake persona since they didn't have any link to his real identity anyways.
291  Other / Off-topic / Re: There is no "bail" in Japan on: August 03, 2015, 07:53:04 AM
Even taking into account peoples' personal feelings about what Karpeles "deserves" I don't think such an obviously corrupt system is something to be celebrated. I was under the impression that part of the value of Bitcoin is the ability to bypass corrupt governments and institutions, so why would you rejoice at their existence?
So, you thought Bitcoin is for scamming people without consequences?
Why on earth would you think that based on what I said?
What else do you mean?
MK scammed people. People want justice. Who else than governmental institution should bring it to him? Do you want a vigilante group to hang him on the next tree?

I am (not) sorry, that you got disappointed.
293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Earn Free Bitcoins? on: August 02, 2015, 05:47:37 PM
You can try gambling.
Also try freebitco.in you can win 200$ Smiley

lol it was highly unlikely, he could spend months and months to do a roll and will never get it. a ratio of 1 : 1000000000

But there might a chance to get the jackpot.
As we can see there're much traffic on the site. It means more traffic more bet more getting closer to jackpot
That is not how probability works.
You shouldn't gamble, if your "system" is based on wrong math.

It takes time and a lot of disappointment. I earned some bitcoin offering my skills as a comic artist, drawing things, but I get people requesting things but never pay up or expect a rembrandt for peanuts. It takes time and patience, a week for 1 btc is ok if you can invest 40hours of paid labour. Not without anything to invest.

You could gamble or invest in an exchange, pushing different crypto's around and make some profit, but it still is work.

I have had my own faucet, it died out, but it needed attention too, it doubled my investment bitcoinwise, but if I calculate the time I invested it did not bring me much profit.
That a pretty bad hourly wage.
Seriously an employee in a super market earns more, at least here in Austria.
296  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Earn Free Bitcoins? on: July 31, 2015, 10:22:10 AM
I recently found this game:
https://farmsatoshi.com/?ref=37368

Satoshi are the in game money and you can pay it out, I am not sure, how much you will earn at the highest level. People are talking about 100.000 Satoshi a day.

But to achieve higher level you must make more referrals because that is part of a mission. Without referrals I think you can only reach level 7 or 8 if Im not mistaken . You can earn only dust satoshis at that level. It's better to play coinflapper than farmsatoshi. You could try it too OP.
They changed it. There is a small Bonus every 8 hours and you can take this instead of the 3 referals(Which means you need at least 24 hours for that quest)
I did it, this way.
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Living only using BitCoins and cryptocurrencies. I need help! on: July 31, 2015, 09:09:00 AM
Elwar, so how would you go about trying to find a guy that will buy BTC from you in real life in exchange for cash to bypass all the credentials bullshit, while also bypassing localbitcoins? Ideally you should bypass localbitcoins as well (a lot of times they ask for credentials), but I guess its hard to find people this way.
If you lived in any of the major US or EUR cities, how would you go about this?

he does not need that, if i understood correctly he pay almost everything with bitcoin recieved directly from his job(he use a service to recieve bitcoin directly form his job if i remember correctly) so there is no need to dump ever

every problem is solved, he then proceeds to pay taxes regularly based on the income in bitcoin, but i don't know exactly how it work in the case bitcoin skyrocket before the end of the fiscal/financial year...

If I understand correctly you would pay taxes based on the difference of price between the time you buy and the time you sell the bitcoin. So if I get 1btc for $200, and spend it when it is worth $1200, I would pay taxes on the $1000 profit I made from the bitcoin. If I don't spend the bitcoin, then I don't pay taxes on it, and if you spend the bitcoin when it is around the same price as it was when you purchased it (as is the case in spending a paycheck), there would be meager tax differences. You just need to figure out what that difference is.

This has me worried / I need to research it more. From what I've heard - in my country - if I'm getting paid in bitcoin I need to pay 45% on it as it is a non-standard currency. Sort of defeats the purpose of getting my paycheck in BTC.
The problem is, that it is different from country to country. In Austria when you hold your Bitcoin for a year before selling them, you don't pay taxes.

I think, in most countries, you wouldn't need to pay extra tax, if you buy something with Bitcoin and the price is up, since you bought them. I am not sure, if some people in here, where suggesting that.
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: July 31, 2015, 08:52:22 AM
It was my mum's birthday yesterday. And I wanted to buy a birthday cake for her, but when I reached the bread shop, I realized I forgot carrying my wallet and I had only a few bucks in my pocket.  I tried to talk to the boss of the shop if I can pay by bitcoin, to my surprise, she said YES and finally I paid the cake by bitcoin.  Grin

This is my first time to use BTC as real money buying a real physical goods.

As a bitcoiner, using BTC online is very common.  Have you ever used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods?  plz share your experience.   Wink

I paid 0.1BTC to my classmate for her photo.  Grin Grin Grin

It's so funny, did she become your girlfriend?   Shocked Grin
No, she did become his fap-material Wink

As far as I see, nobody has mentioned purse yet. I used it many times to buy physical goods, and I can recommend it to everybody, since you easily get 20% discount.

I also bought some raspberry pi equipment with BTC and there is a beer bar in Vienna, where you can pay with Bitcoin.

300  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: MtGox geht in Konkurs on: July 31, 2015, 08:28:08 AM
