1281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support OpenBazaar!!! on: November 12, 2014, 04:56:50 PM
I just want a BS free craigslist/eBay for bitcoin to buy and sell on, however, the idea that using OB might "mark" you for attention is worrying. As the well informed are aware, it only requires faint traces of criminal suspicion to seize assets and block your banks accounts these days. So I'm wondering what this looks like from outside to LE, are "non-infringing" stores obvious enough that even a Judge with a bad hangover will toss out the warrant?  Seems rational to me that it would be tantamount to seizing your house because of a drug dealer on same street or in neighborhood, but LE is not known for it's rigid regard for rationality. This probably sounds like a wimpy cop out, but I can't deal with every little thing becoming an idealogical battle, just want shit that works.

That's a good concern. Maybe the creators of Open Bazaar could put up a notice (on the website and in the program), that it should not be used for buying or selling illegal goods or services, and that they don't approve of breaking the law. People might still try to do it, but it would be on the specific person for attempting to buy or sell then. Versus LE having an ability to go after the whole market because they see it as another silk road type site.
The developers of Open Bazaar don't earn money from it. So, I don't think, law enforcement can do anything about it.
Law enforcement also can't do anything against the developers of torrent-clients

1283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why I think cryptocurrency market is a fake on: November 12, 2014, 08:42:09 AM
I am neither a female nor a homosexual, but that you assume that, just shows how you think. I am also a rationalist(I don't think, anybody who knows me, would describe me as emotional) and as a rationalist I don't just accept fake data. All your assumption (female=collectivists ; gay=emotional; emotional=collectivists) don't have any scientific backing, do they?
And yes, it is an issue for this thread, since you, the OP, throw it into this discussion and didn't provide any real data about it.

Well, is interesting what you say, but I think you make some mistakes. Sorry your nick confused me with a girl. First thing clarify I commented about emotional and rational, not about better or worse.

Second, I do not think you understand what a rationalist is. A rationalist does not want neither data nor science, wants arguments and concepts. This is why I do not feel myself obliged to provide data. However, is true, I made an assumption.

Last, I did not say female = collectivists, I did say average of female is probably collectivists. But I am not sure that you are aware of the actual meaning of these words.
In fact my nick is gender-neutral, which was a mistake I made when I created it many years ago Wink

I might repeat myself, but a stereotype is still not an argument. I just get to often in discussion, where people throw in prejudice as facts. Yesterday a coworker just throw in again, that refugees get € 1000 a month for nothing, which I already told him weeks ago that it is some made up data from right wing nutheads, he could easily disprove by himself, by googling it. Did he google it? No, he just ignored my suggestion.
(Sorry, I got carried away)
Rationalism without data proofing don't really fit in my opinion, since prejudice is definitively on the emotional site. If that would be a valid way of arguing, I could make up any data that proves what I want to prove.

Furthermore: Now, throwing in term like "average" and "probably" doesn't make a difference. Again, I have to often been in discussion, where people though it would make their argument better.

But I know, you are not really interested in that. I see that often in financial discussions. It is so easy to show a graph e.g. about GDP-growth or market shares. But when it comes to things, that are not easily quantified, people make just BS-assumptions for the sake of their argument.
1284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why I think cryptocurrency market is a fake on: November 12, 2014, 07:29:57 AM
Are you really putting some stereotypes into that argument? Making fake data. So, you can quantify something for the sake of your argument.
puf, I suppose you are a female. Well, the direct answer to your question is no. Regarding the fake data, I do not know if we need to discuss that, in current society, there are more emotional people than rational, and that emotional people is (generally) collectivist. No sure if it is issue for this thread. This is enough for my last point. If you want to discuss about sex battle maybe we should open another thread. For me is unclear to what point I should answer you.

1285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why I think cryptocurrency market is a fake on: November 11, 2014, 10:15:18 PM
Women are collectivists and counts half of population, gays, as emotional people, use to be also collectivists and are 10% of population. Lots of men are also collectivists. So, at the final, individualist people is a minority.
Are you really putting some stereotypes into that argument? Making fake data. So, you can quantify something for the sake of your argument.
1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support OpenBazaar!!! on: November 11, 2014, 08:38:56 AM
OpenBazaar is cool but is not good enough.

It's early days. Come back in 6 months.

When does it actually go live? I think this needs to become operational as soon as possible. It's going to be an interesting experiment but one that is badly needed due to the nature of the free market. I'm also interested how they will deal with items that really shouldn't be on there like the worst kind of stuff.

The full release will be rolled out by early 2015. They will not have any ability to censor any of the listings that will be posted on the network, even though they dont intend for OB to be used for illicit goods
I would disagree with the last part of your statement. They are creating a network that, by nature people will primarily use to trade in illegal goods. Although they have not put this goal in writing, I would not be surprised if there is a similar level of legal goods sold on OB as there were on SR1
OpenBazar is not really that anonymous. So, if I had illegal stuff to sell, I wouldn't do it there.
Sorry, but it is just BS, that so many people think: "Oh, it's something new, it must be just for illegal stuff, because they could use XYZ for legal stuff"
People don't want to use Ebay anymore. People want as less central authorities as possible. So, P2P-Networks are spreading everywhere. That doesn't mean, this networks are outside of legal jurisdiction.

What's the point of making another gold-backed currency, after all the major countries stopped having that?

1289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin-Qt taking ages to load on: November 07, 2014, 10:41:46 AM
I don't usually cask for technical support here since I can figure most stuff out on my own, but after serching for a solution for quite some time I figured that there weren't any discussions about this issue.

So the problem I'm facing is that the bitcoin core waller I'm running at my home, windows 7 computer takes a lot of time to load, some times even 2 to 3 minutes. It used to open alot faster at some point. So first of all is this normal? Is there any way to speed up the proccess of opening the wallet?
I have the same problem, but I just got used to it and don't really care anymore
I remember someone somewhere mentioning how to fix it with a parameter in your link. I think it was something about reducing the blocks, it checks when starting. Maybe that helps you google it.
1290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support OpenBazaar!!! on: November 07, 2014, 10:31:48 AM
OpenBazaar is cool but is not good enough.

Why? Do you mind giving any reasons for this statement?

(Just heard of OpenBazaar - I am curious, even if only from a technical standpoint)

The concept is amazing.  The exact implementation right now is lacking a lot.

That is just a matter of code though, so in the future it might be as clean as Ebay or Amazon (in appearance but not merchandise)

How long that takes is the difficult thing to know. I think it is a good year or two away from being a serious player.

Is it tied to bitcoin or does it use another currency? Or even one of the many crypto 2.0 platforms?

Sorry for being so clueless, just discovered it - is there a comprehensive technical explanation somewhere, or a whitepaper?

Well, it looks like that's the end of illegal drug use.
So, we won the drug war?

1293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monsanto & Bitcoin Argentina - Together ? on: November 06, 2014, 07:45:11 AM
Someone like Monsanto, who wants to centralize all crop rights in one entity associated with Bitcoin doesn't make any sense.
What are they doing there?
1294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Patrick Murck plays softball with AMA on Reddit not fully addressing KnC issue! on: November 06, 2014, 07:42:29 AM
Does TBF USA have one address where they accept all membership payments? Do they make public all donations and payments' (aside from the KNC Miner payment) addresses? If so can someone please post those addresses please.
Peace

No,  they process all of their due's using bitpay.  Bitpay tell their clients if the bill has been paid and gives over the money/bitcoin.
KnC could easily provide that Tx-ID if Bitpay is not cooperating.
The question here is, why wouldn't they want to prove it?
The only explanation I see is, they can't  proof it, because it never happened. Do you know any other good explanation?
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: That moment.... on: November 05, 2014, 03:52:47 PM
That moment when you have all of your bitcoins in one vanity address, you import that address into a wallet and spend like .1 bitcoins.

Then the next time you go on blockchain.info to check your "balance" you see it is all gone.

Your bitcoins were moved to a new address after spending (fortunately still in your wallet).
Wasn't there a story of someone who imported his paper wallet, spend some money and than deleted his wallet, thinking the rest of the BTC would still be on that paper wallet?
1296  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Let's make livejasmin.com accept bitcoin! on: November 05, 2014, 02:41:48 PM
Sounds like a site, that is NSFW

I thought it had to be the other way around.
Merchants accepting bitcoins. Not bitcoins asking for merchants
Damn, I didn't realize Bitcoins already gained consciousness.  Roll Eyes
1297  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Dropping ? How can I Protect The Value Of My Bitcoin. on: November 03, 2014, 04:01:16 PM
I am wondering about what bad news about Bitcoin you are talking about.
If it is just the price drop, than I don't care.
1298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I warned you on: November 03, 2014, 02:38:10 PM
There is no such thing as manipulation for a peer to peer currency.

Traders around the world will buy if there is a perceived discount for bitcoin.
Exchanges are not peer to peer ...

Exactly. I'm afraid there's not much we can do about price manipulation and it really is disheartening. There's no way to tell what the current value of bitcoin is and even the peak price looks to have been manipulated to there.

Exactly , I agree with #turvarya . It is only a question of manipulation and the exchanges don't help the "peer-to-peer" idea.
On the good site: You can make peer-to-peer-trades with openbazar(when it has finished) and I have heard of another peer-to-peer-exchange-project(but forgot the name)
1299  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are Bitcoiners Neoliberals? on: November 03, 2014, 02:33:31 PM
Hi Turvaya, the answer to your question is literally in the next points from that quote. Hope that helps.
You mean:

3.) Was it the best option for the child?
If 12 years old is not the age of consent and the parent is not doing their best effort make decisions for their child that best promotes their safety and health, then it would be appropriate for anyone to take that child from them and to do a better job.
All options for the child are first crossed off if they violate the non-aggression principle. Since sleeping with someone below the age of consent is rape and violates the NAP, these options are crossed off first.

The first paragraph sounds like:
If nobody cares, than it is ok, to sell your child.
Nobody means, nobody in the near neighborhood. So, if my neighborhood doesn't like, when I sell my child, I just can move to a neighborhood, where nobody cares.
Also, what does "then it would be appropriate for anyone to take that child from them and to do a better job" mean?
You mean taking by force? Wouldn't that violate NAP? Can I just take a child from people, when I think, they are shitty parents?

The second paragraph seems to tell a whole different story:
Why is it rape?
If it is about fucking up their psyche and health, than I am wondering what is the difference to letting them work in a mine?
