Banned for fish breath

Banned for having an original and odd ban reason.
222  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hey, Check Out This Stuff! on: July 08, 2014, 08:57:54 PM
Cool indeed Smiley

I believe the sound of it was blowing their ears Smiley
Good thing is that he was landing - if the sonic boom will hit them at such low height some of them would end up deaf for sure Wink

A sonic boom at 2 miles up will blow out some eardrums.  When the Space Shuttles landed here in Southern California they double-boomed about 35 miles away and it shook my house.

An F-16 creating a boom at 4.2 miles above ground has been reported to explode tomatoes (and the air is thinner up there).
223  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lets settle this, AMD or intel on: July 08, 2014, 08:51:10 PM
Cyrix FTW!  Whoops, had a flashback to 1996 lol.  Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

I had AMD machines back in the Athlon XP and Duron days, even an Opteron 144.  Been Intel more or less before and after.
224  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Weekly pool and network statistics on: July 08, 2014, 08:44:44 PM
Why has BTC Guild's orphan rate gone up to nearly 4%?  Is it because their network percentage is going down so they're less likely to decide on who the orphan winner will be?
225  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are any ASIC miners making ROI anymore? on: July 08, 2014, 08:35:48 PM
And what happens if your power isn't free?  Like for most people?

Then you just made the hardware manufacturer ROI  Cheesy

They build a miner for $200 and sell it for $600, they just made a 3x profit (maybe more if they "test mine")
226  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S3 - Profit is Impossible on: July 08, 2014, 08:34:27 PM
What if the coin goes DOWN?

Can you profit buying the coin (shorting BTC is very difficult from what I understand) if the exchange rate drops?  A miner can.

Purchase miner for 0.75BTC.  Mine 0.375BTC.  BTC goes down to say $100.  You have 0.375BTC worth $37.50.
Don't purchase miner, keep the .75BTC.  BTC goes down to say $100.  You have 0.75BTC worth $75.00.

No matter what happens with the exchange rate of BTC or whether it goes up or down, 0.75BTC is always more than 0.375.
At this point I simply refuse to believe that anyone can be this obtuse or ignorant.  You must be trolling.

I thin it's YOU who is trolling...

BTC @ $600(USD) I Buy 1 coin
BTC @ $600(USD) I buy mining equipment for 1 coin

BTC @ $550(USD) My one coin is worth $550
BTC @ $550(USD) My mined amount can go OVER $550 because I can mine 1+BTC with it.

Are you so obtuse or ignorant that you cannot understand something this simple?

So you're finding the magical miner that makes more BTC than it's initial outlay.  Not one BFL device did that.  Not one Cointerra.  Not one Hashfast.  Not one Black Arrow.  None of the Avalon B3s.

THe first 2 Avalons, the first KNC Jups, and the first S1s did this.

Dragon, Rockminer, SP30s won't.

Good luck.
227  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best miners for 2-3btc? on: July 08, 2014, 08:24:06 PM
Guys i need your help, i am looking to start my mining operation.
I have never done it before, but please can you guys help me Smiley

I am looking to invest 2-3btc on mining, i dont expect MASSIVE profits overnight, but some profits would be cool!

Any experienced guys out there can help me with the setup etc:) thankx!

Have you bothered to read any of the other threads in this sub-forum? Have you used a calculator?  With the possible of exception of those who bought S3s right at the very start, every miner is pretty much guaranteed to lose. You will spend 3 BTC and earn back 2-2.5BTC.

If you want to know why the difficulty is going up, it's because the people who sell you miners are making their own farms for 1/4th the price they sell a miner for.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: California Gov. Brown signs bills legalizing Bitcoins use on: July 08, 2014, 10:49:32 AM
Sadly CA is likely the last state you would want to mine BTC in.  500 miles to the north WA has 0.02 electricity.  I'm paying $0.35 for my tier 4 (330KW per month) rate.
229  Other / Off-topic / Re: - ANN - FUDCOIN x45 - Launching Soon on: July 08, 2014, 09:40:35 AM
My friend Tredon is going to make a new bank for this coin called FUDcoin Savings & Trust.  It will return 1% per week for small investors all the way to 7% for large institutional investors.  I hear all the 40 year old Somali Pirates are looking forward to it.
230  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who is the Speaker going to file a lawsuit with? on: July 08, 2014, 09:32:33 AM
Supreme Court? I would think they would throw out this suit, because it's political bullshit so boenher can keep his job. But 5 conservative judges might go for it. Question is, can democrats sue a republican president. the stats the media keeps showing is that Obama has issued far fewer executive orders than his predecessors.
I think you've got your priorities mixed up....When a law is legally passed and the president uses an executive order to nullify it, THAT is political bullshit.

Absolutely correct and H.Obama is knee-deep in bullshit!

Well you must admit he is unifying the country. Polls say he's pretty much failing in every category at close to 60%!  That means R, D and I are holding hands in disgust  Grin
231  Other / Politics & Society / Re: “What are we going to do for the people who are here who are starving already?” on: July 08, 2014, 09:21:26 AM
The African American minority might be waking up to the fact that it will be pushed further down the rung of political underdog.  In the 60's they were #1, followed by women.  Now they have to get behind disabled, LGBT, veterans, endangered species, etc.  Perhaps they will realize that just because the man in the office has the same skin color as you he may not be doing you a favor.

I loved the confused, almost crying look of the guy in the red shirt who said "I'm going to do everything I can".  I wonder how many hours of XBox or PS4 he's put in this year  Roll Eyes
232  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Palestinian boy Mohammed Abu Khdeir burned alive by Israeli extremists on: July 08, 2014, 08:58:12 AM
The facts are obvious for any one to see. There is only one faction that is overtly using and distorting 'historical' and 'humanitarian' causes to their racial advantage and stealing land for the last 2000 years and enslaving different people.

Jews deserve a place on this earth to call home. There's a reason why such a small country is the magnate of venture capital and jewel of the middle east while those who outnumber them by hundred fold are too busy killing each other even with all that oil money gold pouring in.

If you don't like the obvious facts stacked up against your case, do not evade them just because they render your position defenseless. I have stated that every case these 'palestinians' can come up with I can point out ten more justifiable reasons why israel is responding with the force it is now.

Considering the kind of racial, cultural hatred jews receive as israelites, they are perfectly responding with good degree of restraint against the threats arrayed against them. Jews have bought and fought for the land of israel that was stolen from them and squatted on by thieves and opportunistic oppressors.

Palestinians are tools at the hands of arabs and other anti jewish racists to destroy israel. I have seen the so-called demonstrations of these 'oppressed' who send little children to mouth off at israeli soldiers while the soldiers themselves show great deal of restraint against provocations. They take israeli wage, live off of israeli jobs, all the while harboring racially motivated aggression against jews.

Do not presume to tell anyone what is true and what constitutes 'reason' - obviously you never try to see it other than from the point of view that helps your so called argument.

You made your bed as thoroughly as any criminals did while taking advantage of the situation. I'd say extermination of the arab world is in order.

DEATH TO MUSLIMS!

DEATH TO THAT BITCH PROPHET CALLED MOHAMMAD!

FUCK OFF RAG HEADS.

Brilliant... then people wonder why Israel is increasingly isolated from the world; if I didn't know better, I'd say you're purposefully trying to worsen Israel's image. I mean, really? Calling for genocide now? Roll Eyes

Calm down, he's releasing his inner jihadist!  It happens to all the people in that area.  The intense heat of the desert causes heat stroke and mental lapses.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Worth mining and with this rig? on: July 08, 2014, 08:34:25 AM
You could have made a few dollars a day on CPU centric coins 2 months ago.   Today you would be spending more in electricity mining than you could earn in coins.  So unless you have free electricity, no point in mining.

I kinda have free electricity. I have to pay a fixed utility price a week, so may as well use it up Smiley

I've taken a look at the cpuminer on this forum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55038.0) and have that ready to go.
Just unsure on how to use it properly, or if it is to be used at all for coins like LiteCoin and PrimeCoin.  Which was why I thought about using that middlecoin website.

Cheers,
Skimm

Bitcoin started off with CPU mining in 2009.  It currently uses ASICs which are about 1 million times as powerful as a CPU.  Same thing for Litecoin, it started off with CPUs but then went to GPUs which are 100x as fast and now ASICs are arriving there too which are about 10X that of a GPU.  Same with Primecoin (XPM) - it started off with CPUs last year and went to GPUs this year.

You would make about 15 cents per month mining Primecoin.  You would not even make 1 penny a month mining Litecoin.  Even with free electricity unless a new CPU only coin comes out you can't make any money past a few cents - sorry you're late to the party Sad
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Worth mining and with this rig? on: July 08, 2014, 08:05:45 AM
Definitely not bitcoin. Maybe one of the CPU-only alt coins.

Not really.  Look at all the previously CPU centric coins - they are all getting invaded by GPU miners.  Also the trading ratio of these coins has crashed over the last 6 months.  XPM for example went from 0.0069 to 0.00061 - a magnitude drop.  You could make a dollar or two daily in January, now you can't make a profit.
235  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Needs More Help on: July 08, 2014, 08:02:52 AM
Welcome Sandy to the forums.  You cannot make a profit currently by mining unless you happen to design you own coin and get a lot of support.  Either focus on working to acquire more disposable income and buy your coins on an exchange or offer services to the community in exchange for coins.

Just wrap everything in tin foil and duct tape, that will stop the Gaussian field from generating.
238  Other / Off-topic / Re: - ANN - FUDCOIN x45 - Launching Soon on: July 08, 2014, 07:54:52 AM
damn you FUD developers.  You're pre-mining all the coins without having any FUD pools.

Damn FUDpackers!

Here's a nice Nova episode for the Bitcoin miners (at least the microprocessor part):

When I watched Nova as a kid my mind was blasted!

The new Cosmos series with Neil is pretty good for kids, although not mind blasting.
