61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitherium.cc - Full Decentralized Exchange with Profit share token on: February 26, 2020, 04:25:20 PM
Why the user's private keys are sent to your server ?

Hello Malyx, thank you for your question.
You can use your private key, keystore file, metamask  to log into our exchange, just like every decentralized exchange offers this login, similar to myetherwallet. We can't collecting or saving anything from this details.

That's not true. Private keys are sent to the server, then you use a token to identify the user. So you store them:

63  Economy / Scam Accusations / [RESOLVED] Bitherium.cc not a full decentralized exchange - PrivKey leaks on: February 26, 2020, 03:56:03 PM
Resolved here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5228661.msg53954607#msg53954607
Archive of that thread: http://web.archive.org/web/20200303104953/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5228661.0&all=
Archive of the official thread: http://web.archive.org/web/20200303105444/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5226563.0&all=

tldr;
1. I accused them to send the users privatekeys to the server.
2. They goes to maintenance mode, then back online.
3. It seem they resolved the issue.

Accusation:
Bitherium claim to be a full decentralized exchange, but your private key and password are sent plaintext to the server.

Proof:
You can try by yourself, but here a screenshot of the XHR POST request when you create an account:

And when you want to unlock your wallet:

Obliviously, everything is managed server-side. A token is bind to you. It mean that your private key remain on the server somehow:

Other red flags:
  • Hidden team.
  • Very hard to verify the Seychelles Certificate of Incorporation.
  • Many low accounts are enjoying Bitherium on the main thread.
  • Hidden WHOIS.

68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Speaking of Bitcoin to an AI on: February 13, 2020, 02:31:16 PM
I was playing around with a game "AI Dungeon" which is backed by a very powerful AI.
The results are often stunting.

I had some fun with Bitcoin, here is the result (in bold, it's me writing, all the other texts are generated by the AI).

( AI Dungeon: https://play.aidungeon.io/ )

Quote
You are a man. You want to mine Bitcoin to become rich. You bought 2 mining rigs and start mining. The only problem is you don't have enough money for the electricity bill, so you decide to sell some of your Bitcoins on an online exchange.

The price goes up and down with no real stability.

> You are waiting for your miners to find a block.

You wait patiently for your miners to find a block. It takes weeks but eventually one does. You spend the rest of your savings buying more mining equipment and continue to mine.

Eventually you get bored of this hobby and decide that it's time to retire from it all.

> You buy cryptocurrencies with your money.

Your retirement comes soon after when you realize that Bitcoin is worth way less than what you paid for it. You also discover that Litecoin and Dogecoin are currently in high demand as well.

Litecoins are worth $0.00 while Dogecoins are worth $1.

>

00. You decide to invest in both of them.

You're now invested in several altcoins which means you can't withdraw any of your money until they stabilize or at least reach their current value.

> You gamble on PrimeDice.

PrimeDice is a gambling site where you can bet on the outcome of various events such as the winning lottery numbers or whether someone will win a certain amount of money in a game. You've never gambled before, but if you play long enough, you'll probably lose money.

> !You lost all your Litecoin.

You lost all your Litecoins because you were betting too much on the odds. You lost $100 in a few hours.

> !Dogecoin price skyrocket WoW

You decide to try out Dogecoin instead. This is a joke right?

> You invest in a pyramid scheme.

You put all your money into a pyramid scheme. Your investment is worth nothing, because the company has been taken over by scammers who promise you a large return on your investments, but then just take most of it away from you.

> Cry.

You cry for days about how you feel like you've been robbed. Eventually, the scammer disappears and you're left holding worthless coins.

> Use a faucet to recover

You decide to use a faucet to recover your losses. The faucet gives you free dogecoins, so you start using it frequently. Soon, you have enough dogecoins to pay off your debt.

> Buy Bitcoin with your Dogecoin.

You buy Bitcoin with your Dogecoin. It's a good thing you did, because the price of Bitcoin increases dramatically.

> Buy a lambo.

You buy a lambo. The price of the lambo goes up, and you make a lot of money!

> Go to a conference to meet Faketoshi.

You go to a conference to meet Faketoshi. He says he wants to see you again, so you agree. When you arrive at his house, he tells you that there are some things he needs to discuss with you privately first...

> Ask Faketoshi to sign the genesis block.

You ask Faketoshi if he can sign the genesis block of Bitcoin. He agrees, and signs it for you. You both leave happy.

The last AI answer was enough for me Grin
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think Ripple (XRP) will rise to moon. on: February 13, 2020, 10:05:57 AM
Ripple (XRP) is now staying in the top gainer list. So, there has a possibility to fulfill your saying 'will rise to moon' .
but "Bitcoin must go first" before alts will so basically we need to wait for bitcoin to Bull first and that will happen sooner.
and for now?all we need to do is stay calm and hold our XRP for at least this whole year or the next?

$7300 to >$10k within 1.5 month isn't bullish ?
During the same period XRP came from $0.19 to $0.3.

...

I own a similar paranoia when I'm using Windows.
Obliviously Windows is the malicious favorite target, and also the most vulnerable for users that never learnt to protect it.

Most of the famous Linux distro offer a very good experience to the end users, even for not techy peoples. My only issue with Linux is the hardware management, and software compatibility.

That's why I'm using Linux as my main OS, for all kind of things, then Windows only for gaming.
As a paranoid user of Windows, both OS are each on a different computer. Xubuntu on laptop, Windows on desktop.

In my head Windows always been itself a virus  Grin

I was thinking to get another laptop to manage windows and all thing relevant o bitcoin there, and as you say, the windows for games or design jobs.

If it's not a blocking situation, it might be the best solution for you.
I just feel really uncomfortable by connecting or owning any sensitive data on Windows. So splitting was the best way I found.

Go with dual boot dudes, why buy new hardware just to use different OS when same could be done by dual booting right ?

I just don't like to have Linux sharing the same SSD and hardware with Windows.
Malwares are more and more sophisticated, and feeds my paranoia.

I have been a Linux user for the past 16 years and i just move to windows because i need to use some software for my Job.

I am a bit paranoid about windows and trojans, i don't like how windows deal with the users, it makes me feel like i'm idiot each time the system ask me if i really want to do that.

So, let's talk about this, what OS you use, and why it's better for you?
