101  Economy / Economics / Re: How long will it take banks to phase out physical cash completely? on: July 11, 2020, 05:03:32 PM
As we enter the digital realm due to the effects of COVID-19, the process of central banks phasing out physical cash from existence might take place soon. Before the outbreak, we've been accustomed in using credit/debit cards and contactless payments greatly eliminating the need for physical cash. Now that we're in a "COVID Era", things have accelerated quite a bit. Banks and governments are in talks of adopting CBDCs which could completely eliminate the need to pay for things with physical cash.

Now the real question is, how long will it take banks to start the transition from physical to digital cash (CBDC)? Do you think that physical cash will still be used right after governments adopt CBDCs in their entirety? Or will it take decades before every single person in the world stops transacting with physical cash, paving the way for a full-fledged cashless society? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Smiley

Phasing out cash has been a project that has been ongoing for more than a decade and with COVID19 happening, it code give it another boost just like you have mentioned. However I don't see the complete eradication of cash not now and not later in the future the worst that would happen is reducing it to the barest minimum which will happen really soon. For some countries they will get there faster while others might not get there in this century.

Cash management and handling has been a major drive especially in the retail sector of the economy and the phasing out of such would really impact that sector for most economies and that is not what is needed another to fully kickstart the economy post COVID.
102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we invest in a bitcoin exchange? on: July 11, 2020, 07:57:30 AM
There is more to having a Bitcoin exchange than just buying the source code. Many exchanges have closed down due to lack of users, high cost of maintaining security, which is paramount and you must have an in-depth in programming language for you to be able to tweak based on your need

I want to believe that no matter the business, the key to make it successful goes beyond just the setup costs and more importantly running the business goes beyond some form of fondness for trading as Op has mentioned. Currently, the trading space is saturated to the extent that only exchange sites with large funds to spend on various advertisement and publicity that could even have a chance to survive for as long as 2 years couple with various regulatory compliances that are continually stifling the free entry and exits that was witnessed in the market years back.
103  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID AND INDIAN ECONOMY on: July 09, 2020, 09:18:46 PM
The battle against covid19 is now to the extent of the survival of the fittest which the advance countries are still holding the fight because really the advancement over the years have been preparing for this battle. It's really going to be hard for developing countries to get back on track and its not only India that is facing this dilemma, quite a number of countries are in the same shoe. The way out really is to continue fighting with whatever resources available and continue living while at the same time helping the country to heal in any way we can.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wine company using blockchain to eliminate fraud and secure authenticity. on: July 09, 2020, 07:32:06 PM
There is really no surprisingly big deal in this. Since time immemorial companies are known to use modern day technologies to improve their processes. This would ensure that they are in tune with current happenings and also a way to to reduce costs thereby increasing profit. Leveraging on technology such is actually a good one for the blockchain which further lend credence that there is more than the currency part of things among other usefulness...
105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another bitcoin scams hit Canada on: July 09, 2020, 08:13:32 AM
I think the only way to reduce the scams in any sector whatsoever even crypto is for the continued publicity for people to know because unscrupulous individuals will still be involved no matter how secure the space is. But with adequate publicity and notices just like as it's being done bye the shop owner in Winnipeg it tends 2 reduce the number of victims that would have initially pain been exposed.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 60M$ Worth Bitcoins Moved to ETH on: July 08, 2020, 12:34:15 PM
As much as 60M$ is a huge fund to cause some notices, it still does not really cause for concern in the scheme of things considering the volume and capitalisation of the market itself and then restricting it to btc market. The 60M$ moving is only obvious because its going at once or over a period of time but at the same time, we have not done the calculation to know the amount that left ETH to bitcoin within the period under review or the amount of cash that went into bitcoin so also is the amount of other alt coins that went into bitcoin.

108  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump is targeting Obama #Obamagate on: May 14, 2020, 08:39:30 AM
In simple truth, politicians will always look for means to ensure that they continue to stay relevant by sowing seeds of discord in the mind of the populace while they meet in parleys to resolve all of their differences. Trump has had his own share of investigation and its only common sense to want to return the favor but I see nothing at all coming out of this. Its going to generate noises for an amount of time and then go into its own oblivion without while the country would await another round of scandal to talk about.
109  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can i sell Bitcoin to illegal immigrant in usa on: May 12, 2020, 10:38:04 AM
If illegal immigrants in the US can buy houses, cars, have jobs, and also have loans from bank I don't think that you would be doing something illegal on your side since other businesses does this as well. Simply them being undocumented people in the US doesn't restrict them from paying something up after all cash is king. You really don't have to worry about this since even if you are aware that they are illegal immigrants there is no law that is stopping you from conducting a business with them. Just think of it like they are buying in Walmart or shopping in Amazon they aren't stopped or ban their accounts just because they aren't citizens there.

This is exactly my line of thought because as far as they can still go to the mall to buy things and there is no rule against that, then I don't see you having problem. The challenge is if you suspect that they might be using it for illegal means then its on you to make formal report to the authority. Other than that, you are good.

111  Economy / Economics / Re: The U.S. economy contracted sharply in the first quarter of 2020 on: May 05, 2020, 08:03:48 AM
Its not only the US economy that contracted but the world economy and I have not even seen a country that is not affected on the overall scale by the effects of this pandemic. This pandemic have ravaged the entire economy and caught people unaware which then defies all the knowledge and skill everyone has been exposed to about crisis management whether by experience or in business schools around the world.

The only reference we all have was the pandemic outbreak that happened over a century ago but hey the world have made significant progress in development since then which is why I am hope that we are going to get over it very soon to the delight of everyone.
112  Economy / Economics / Re: Free rent and no mortgage - new stimulus from US government!!!! on: April 30, 2020, 06:17:30 AM
This is really a good one here and it should be really supported by everybody irrespective of party lines. The effect of corona virus is just so devastating that it would take longer time than imagine for every sector to bounce back to 100% and that is where the support of government is needed more than ever. Ultimately this too will pass and every one can go back to their activities as soon as possible.
113  Economy / Economics / Re: Nobel Laureate asked India to print more money and not to worry about inflation on: April 14, 2020, 02:11:03 PM
Nobel Laureate Abhijeet Banerjee has recently asked India to print more money and transfer them to the poor class of people to increase demand in the market to tackle upcoming recession post COVID-19.

Reference: https://m.telegraphindia.com/business/abhijit-banerjee-offers-print-money-pill/cid/1763262

A lot of economists will say it is a bad idea because later it will become very difficult to arrest inflation rate. But increasing the demand is a major challenge as well.

Voice your opinion! Will be good or bad step for a diverse country like India?

Other than what we have been taught in classes as to the effect of excess money in circulation, a Nobel laureate is surely not some quack or speech writer looking for attention. It must have been from a fully thought out process but that does not mean its right. Zimbabwe to my understanding have tried this model which eventually backfired but situation, economy and time differs which could return a different outcome. Its on government and its policy advisers to think a way through and actually address his fear rather than just discarding his own private suggestion.
114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: April 09, 2020, 06:47:37 AM
The US election is something that sometimes defies common sense depending on the angle one is looking at it from. @op you have put up your position based on the candidate that appeals to you and the same candidate someone else have not heard about before. From my point of view, the election is between two parties and anyone that parties supported to become the flag bearer and since Trump is the flag bearer for the Republicans, then the battle is to the Democrats but I don't think they would want to sacrifice Biden at this time. Focusing in this age, this would probably the last time Biden would run should he not win, it would be difficult to try it again unlike the other candidate with several years ahead of him.
115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will the gambling addicts do now that the casinos have closed? on: March 28, 2020, 08:22:43 AM
As you may know, casinos all over the United States and the world have begun closing their doors to slow down the spread of the Coronavirus. While this has taken a financial toll on casinos, cafes, restaurants and hotels, etc, it has put the kibosh on problem gambling or at least made a serious dent in the lives of hopeless gambling addicts.

What will most gambling addicts do when they can no longer gamble at casinos, and what do you think they'll do when the casinos reopen in several months from now? Will most of them be finally cured of their gambling addiction, or will most of them return to their old ways?

This trying time is a period I am sure anyone has not witnessed in his/her life time that have changed the way we have come to know about things. The addicted gamblers should just see it as a period of reflections to ensure they put a control to it. In the sense that what they think they can't stop is only there because of the current situation and now that nature or happenings around the world has done that for them, now is to focus on other things.
116  Economy / Economics / Re: a disease or a virus or is there business in it? on: March 21, 2020, 10:28:49 AM
I don't think they are trying their best just to profit out of it, this might not look like it the research done by many experts are done by universities, it is true that they lack funding but saying that they are profiting out of it is ridiculous. One good business flourishing right now would be online gambling because people are on their houses and they want some entertainment.

It still boils down to sheer capitalism. Capitalism has eaten deep into the society that we all have forgotten our action to humanity. A lot of businesses are suffering with this virus while some businesses would see it as an opportunity to cash out big and deliver even beyond their target for the entire year. Is it wrong, of course not so far its done within the ambits of the law. The businesses that are struggling would they have taken a different decision should the table turn, of course not because we are all driven by capitalism and nothing else.
117  Economy / Economics / Re: How a Global Epidemic is helping counties see the bigger picture on: February 11, 2020, 01:17:53 PM
You know Corona Virus is something that is showing motality rate even more than the SARS.
But in between all this economic, social , political crisis one can notice how it's integrating Nations together.
US is pledging to donate millions to fight this and more than 21 countries are sending medical supplies to China.
Even Indian President came out to Help China and they even are talking about rescuing the Pakistani Students from Wuhan .
This is really great , yes I know it sounds lame but countries are discarding their boundaries and working together , this is the system of government we should have .
This is precisely how the economic stability will be achieved.
I think this is the only good thing the Virus is doing.
What do you guys think ? Is this something that might show us the path of global Peace ? .

Countries are bound to stand together in the face of adversities and this happening does not erase the fact that they are still having some form of antagonistic moves against each other. Just like human beings, except you are at war with someone, you will only want to see him dead when you know that it would give you an opportunity to win but not when you have disagreements. At the same time, most of these countries are not extending the helping hand to China because they love them, but doing it to protect themselves from being caught in the cross fire or risk being infected by the same should they not contribute to its defeat.
118  Economy / Economics / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON CHINA ECONOMY on: February 04, 2020, 11:47:07 AM
Yes there will be an impact on the economy. Aside the direct impact of businesses closing shops, people being forced to take breaks and work from home  which translate to lower productivity couple with the inability to move across the city with every business that serves that purpose. That is the local impact to their economy. Outside the local economy is the amount of flight canceled which had earlier being billed to go there, the number of import and export activities that will be put on hold because of the virus without limiting the cost attached of containing the virus. Put all of these together, 2% prediction is just being economical with the truth.

120  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's going to happen in International Court of Justice (ICJ) ? on: January 24, 2020, 04:36:52 PM
There is going to be a massacre trial in the international court. Rohingya "The most oppressed Nations in the world" is the victim of this genocide.
What about your opinion of this trial? I think the court will give the right verdict  ‍and the world will see a fair trial for humanity. We are all waiting for the time.

ICJ as a court is most times a toothless bulldog because its a judgment that most times no one carries out. It just carries a nomenclature that world leaders don't bother to take cognizance of and the implication of the judgment is that the person whose the judgment is against can no longer visit the advanced world that are ready to carry out the judgment. As long as his country is enough for him to stay, he will be fine until another government takes over and decide to prosecute other than that, nothing will happen.
