341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Agree To Publicize Your Journey From Being Chronic Gambler on: November 10, 2019, 02:41:28 PM
You are once a chronic gambler but with the help of a professional you are now totally cured, then a publisher offers you to publicize your journey from being a chronic gambler to a cured one, but of course, everything could be exposed like your habit experiences, your agony and even your personal life, will you agree to do this, of course the publisher will pay you for the story that you are going to provide.

Its really going to be a big thing to do. In as much as it would be demeaning and the kind of ridicule close family members will have to endure, if I found myself in such situation and be able to overcome, then I won't hesitate to put the word out there. However, rather than doing it solely for the money, the best is to do it to be able to reach out to people who are buried in such situation and looking for helping hand to get out. A lot of people have had their careers shattered, family destroyed, friends abandoned because of chronic gambling which they can't help and some have even lost their lives in the midst of all these. So any help is welcomed no matter the shame that would arose because of it.
342  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitmain Co-Founder Claims He Was Illegally Removed, Plans to Sue on: November 09, 2019, 08:47:55 PM
Nobody removed from a company he co-founded would go out without a fight no matter the guise under which he was made to leave. The moment your dream is big to accommodate external investors who forced you to have a Board of directors, you no longer hold those almighty right you thought because you will be placed on a salary which makes you an employee just like anyone else in the company and in your own case, you answer to the board. The moment you don't the internal politics does just not agree with you, you are already on your way out. You don't have to do anything wrong. Just nonalignment of thoughts is enough.

Suing really won't change anything because the court would not force an employee over a company rather, the court would only asked he be paid damages and if the company does not want that kind of publicity, they would settle amicably nothing more nothing less. Its a business transaction. He only needs to play his card right to get as much as possible compensation.

That's the design, go against it and you are sure to regret it later.
344  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advice on online shop selling goods in crypto: real or scam? on: November 09, 2019, 04:43:18 PM
Hello,

I just found this online shop: https://www.cryptoemporium.eu/.

They claim to sell luxury goods and services like cars, watches, real estate...

Does anyone know them? Is it "safe"?

Thanks !

Just like others have said, the best way is to stay away from the sites that you cannot get a clear cut review on its activities or its clients on their client service. There is nothing you want to get on that platform that you cannot get else where except you might be expecting them not to ask some specific questions which in this case they don't do to a random customer on the internet. If there is anything you want to buy, you can as well change your crypto to cash and get it and save yourself from any form of heartbreak that could come from transacting with these people.
345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Manipulation Pushing the price Further Low on: November 09, 2019, 12:56:54 PM
Bitcoin price fluctuations this week has thrown light on the trading of Bitcoin, as BTC trading is supposed to be manipulated by traders. The media, including the famous analyst Willy Woo who pointed to the trend of market manipulation in the midst of deep studies.

Source: https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/bitcoin-price-analysis-traders-manipulating-bitcoins-market/

Its a common thing to say that price is being manipulated to go lower the moment the upward trend seems not sustainable and that is what the crypto hemisphere has turned into. Most of the time the columnists are already at their keyboard ready to drop their article at any point in time to fit into the current narrative. I won't be surprise that the same set of freelancers are also singing the high songs few days back when the price of btc was way above the $9k region and planning having a touch on the $10k mark.
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How BIG will the crypto market be if China legit cryptos? on: November 08, 2019, 10:52:10 AM
The impact that China would legalise crypto would be significant. The significance would then be on the positive side if they allowed the entire crypto and not just their own crypto backed otherwise, its going to have a negative effect because the moment they have their own crypto backed, it would be supported with all of the state's apparatus which also means going against all perceived competitors among which include the bitcoin and the entire crypto currency that we have come to know currently. The most important effect would then happen when other countries are following the trend that China is following.
347  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Cryptocurrency Considered a ‘Significant Problem’ by US Homeland Security on: November 07, 2019, 05:18:05 PM
The statement is actually a vague one and even though it can easily be construed to be on the negative side of things but for me, I think it depends on which side one is looking at it from. The part of which they are surely concerned with is the financing part which might be related to terrorism and how difficult it might be for them to track such activities should it be used to financed actions and activities against the state. In recent times we have come to read about several busting of those who hide under the anonymity of crypto to perpetuate illegal activities and recently, I have read about Russia making a statement on the confiscation of coins related to illegal activities. So that would need to be push more from the authorities end.

If you are operating within the ambit of the law, then there is nothing to worry about.
348  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Russia Outlines Plan to Confiscate Cryptocurrency Linked w/ Criminal Activities on: November 07, 2019, 02:31:55 PM
There is no need for discussing this because its nothing other than what is applicable since time immemorial every assets that is being used for illegal activities forfeited to the state. I have read news of assets of money launderers being auctioned off to the general public while assets that cannot be confiscated will be destroyed. We have also learned about bitcoin auctioned by the state apparatus somewhere in Europe of those that was seized from those found wanting. So, what the Russian government is merely doing is putting it on records so anyone don't hide under the rule that 'since its not written, it does not exist'' or 'the law is silent on matters that relates to that''.
349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scarcity is one of the leading factors of Bitcoins value on: November 07, 2019, 12:11:05 PM
Scarcity, as a leading factor might be right but not totally because for anything to even have value, it needs to be scarce. On the otherhand, for anything to be said to be scarce, it means its not available but for bitcoin, the moment you have your fiat or any crypto, its available for you. All over the world, there are exchange sites, and peer to peer sites where people trade in millions by the minute which means its not scarce rather its the forces of demand and supply that push the price up. Also again, is the holding nature of people who believes that holding it means that the value in relation to fiat would increase that is not the case, that would mean making it an investment asset because its like someone keeping dollars under his pillow and thinking with that, the value would increase.
350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have anyone tried to stop gamblers from losing while they keep on wagering. on: November 06, 2019, 07:21:41 PM
There is no point stopping a gambler from playing because every wagering to him is an opportunity to hit it big and anyone who tried to stop them at the time is seen as a difficulty that needs to be removed and if you are not careful, it could lead to confrontation. For me, I have tried it in the past but all lead to a futile exercise so there is no point doing the same thing all over again and expect a different result.
351  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: ATM Coin Founders Forced to Pay $4.25M Fine Following Binary Options Fraud on: November 06, 2019, 05:23:59 PM
Oh well, they’ve paid the big price for committing fraud to their clients. I haven’t heard of ATM coin yet by the way.

Can you guys verify that this is the one that they’re talking about? https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/atmcoin/. Or is it different than this?

Here are the first two paragraphs of the news article:

“A New York Court has charged the founders of ATM Coin with committing fraud and misappropriating client funds, ordering them to pay $4.25 million to settle the case. Four companies associated with ATM Coin have also been charged.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York has ordered Blake Harrison Kantor and Nathan Mullins, in addition to four associated companies, to pay $4.25 million stemming from charges of fraud and misappropriation of funds. The case was first launched by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) Division of Virtual Currency on April 16, 2018.”

You can find more information about this news right here.

What can you say about this recent news guys? I would love hearing your feedback about this. Thanks!

When I read about news like this, I just have this sense of delight because it shows that someone is watching and people are being brought to face the responsibility of their actions and when that happen, the people involved if they are convicted of wrong doing, it just becomes part of their records for life unless they are able to obtain a presidential pardon though. Without knowing the details of the case or when it started, I am sure reprieve must have come the way of the victims that have been affected by the actions of some people who think they can take others for granted.

It should also be a message to people not to be ruled by the motive for profit making and forget the signals to fraud and some ventures that should be avoided in all totality and in this case binary options top the list.
352  Economy / Economics / Re: ‘Bullish for Bitcoin’ — China Scraps Plans to Ban Cryptocurrency Mining on: November 06, 2019, 04:08:58 PM
Quote
Bitcoin (BTC) mining will not face a state crackdown in China, authorities have confirmed in new official documents. As noted by Blockstream CSO Samson Mow and others on Nov. 6, mining no longer features on a list of industries Beijing considers undesirable.

“Bullish for Bitcoin”
The change came via a new edition of China’s Industrial Structure Adjustment Guidance Catalog, which will take effect from the start of 2020.

“China’s National Development and Reform Commission has removed #cryptocurrency mining from the list of industries they want to eliminate. Bullish for #Bitcoin,” Mow commented.

A previous incarnation of the document earlier this year had conversely included Bitcoin mining as one of the government’s targets.

The news marks a rare boon for Bitcoin-related activities in China, a country where cryptocurrency outside the control of the central bank remains all but banned.

BTC markets calm
The recent endorsement of blockchain technology from president Xi Jinping coincided with a dramatic rise in BTC/USD, after which local media cautioned on misinterpreting the remarks as supportive of crypto.

Following the most recent announcement, however, little appeared to change on Bitcoin markets.

Mining has long formed a profitable industry in China, with cheap electricity meaning major participants still reside there. Canaan Creative, one of the biggest Bitcoin mining rig manufacturers, will reportedly undergo a $400 million initial public offering, or IPO, later this month.
Cointelegraph

No doubt that this could be the one of the most bullish news this year, this could quiet bring back confidence to Chinese Crypto miners that fled from their country due to past regulation pressure. Whats your thought, is this the bullrun catalyst that weve been waiting for?

To others who might not read much to this news, its fine to hold that opinion but really for me, its a great news because should the reverse be the case in that they would be entering implementation phase of cracking down on bitcoin mining having annouced their intention since last year then its something to be happy about that they are now seeing things from another point of view considering the amount of mining farms located in China at the moment.

I would not bank more to it though because its a policy that change in crypto favor today, it could be something else tomorrow. Government policy direction can change or even see a superior argument to backtrack this wonderful decision of theirs.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coca cola bottlers use Blockchain on: November 06, 2019, 02:12:47 PM
https://www.businessinsider.com/coca-cola-bottlers-sap-scaling-up-a-major-blockchain-project-2019-10?r=US&IR=T

https://cointelegraph.com/news/coca-cola-using-blockchain-for-21-billion-per-year-network

Coca Cola bottles use blockchain technology to manage their cross-party transactions.

A report from Business Insider today November 5, 2019 reveals that Coke One North America (CONA) - a technology company that manages IT operations for bottling soda coca cola - uses blockchain technology developed by the German software company SAP to manage its supply chain.

Able to Manage 160,000 Orders Per Day
CONA was assigned to manage a platform as a watchdog for several franchises that produce, ship bottles, and ship 160,000 orders for Coca-Cola products every day. Andrei Semenov, senior manager at CONA, told Business Insider:

"There are a number of inefficient cross-company and multiparty transactions. They passed a number of intermediaries; and this is very slow. We feel that we can overcome this problem and save more money of course. "

With the blockchain, CONA hopes to reduce the duration of order reconciliation from 50 days to just a few days. Ledgers that are distributed across organizations and transparently will provide real-time insight into transactions carried out by all the different bottlers in the network, which generate revenues of more than 21 billion US dollars per year.

yes, everything will be faster and easier for calculations and transactions if it uses a blockchain. more transparent and efficient.

Times without number we all know that blockchain is the technology of the future. It might not solve the entire problem because the complexities that surrounds an organisation routine activities especially companies whose activities cut across countries and continents and with several plants across the world couple with the quest for one centralised location in other to ensure uniformity of quality across board, then blockchain at the moment is the solution. Its no surprise that companies are beginning to see the possibility that this could bring to them and the cost reduction which is the ultimate goal of every company makes it a coveted piece of technology. The two companies mentioned here could bring about a sizeable change considering SAP cliente and consumers that coke reaches on a daily basis.
354  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bottom Has Passed, Delphi Digital Says on: November 06, 2019, 01:05:30 PM
Bitcoin (BTC) saw a boost to its volumes in October, especially during the last volatile week of the month. Delphi Digital suggests more active trading may suggest the market bottom is already behind us.

https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-bottom-has-passed-delphi-digital-says/

This is just the problem I have with columnist and its because they surely lack consistency. Now its about how the bottom is behind and how we are ready for the next all time high and the moment the reverse is happening, they are the first set to release articles to even publicize the calamity that have befallen crypto. The point is there is no point that cannot be reached again whether on the positive side or the negative side. The difference is the activities that happen using the market forces as a deciding factor in what happens to price.
355  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Holds Above $9k on: November 06, 2019, 09:24:58 AM
While its nice to have seen some stability in price of above 9k in the last couple of days but its not something to rest on because it might not take more then hours for price to come down crashing back to the point where rallying is what that would be discusses while other people would be looking for reasons as to why.

However, comparing bitcoin with a company operating in the economy might not be the right move because for the company going public means its going to be subjected to some high level scrutiny which might either hamper its growth or otherwise and the fact that its profitable in the first quarter does not mean its going to remain so.
356  Economy / Goods / Re: Hotel for sale for bitcoin on: November 05, 2019, 09:12:06 PM

Net annual profit: 0,9 - 1,1 M $.

Do you mean net annual revenue/turnover/sales?  If that is truly the Net Profit, what is the annual revenue/turnover/sales?
Net annual profit: 0,85-1,1 M $.
GOP 60-70%
Annual turnover: 1,5 - 1,8 M $.
If you have a real interest in buyng, I can send you a detailed presentation.

With this impressive returns on a monthly basis, the question is why would you want to sell? Anyways, its a business decision some people are looking to make short term exit while others are there for a long run.

Now should someone be interested, how does it work? I mean the modalities that surrounds it? $8,000,000 is not some money you send over the web to random person and in this case someone who is likely thousand of miles away from your location, I think putting a tip of that in your display could really bring some interested people.
357  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democrats winning the impeachment inquiry is a worrying sign for Trump. on: November 05, 2019, 05:25:40 PM
I’m bit surprised as no one choose to post on this topic, considering how divided American legislators were when they decided to vote in yesterday’s impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump. Once the results became clear Trump tweeted that his impeachment was the greatest witch hunt in US history, and I have to agree with him.

It’s clear Democrats have no leader left that can challenge Trump in the 2020 elections, and the only way they’ll ever win is to impeach him which is really sad.

In my personal opinion Trump should not be impeached as he’s taken decisions which past US presidents couldn’t take, e.g. got China to agree to a new trade deal.

What do you’ll think about this impeachment inquiry, will democrats find a way to impeach him or will he spring another miracle and be able to complete his term?.

Unfortunately, personal opinion does not matter on what is being played out in the United States. It is simply politics and nothing else. I think its just fighting Trump on two sides even though they know that he might not be impeached by the Senate, they just want to distract him as much as possible so that he wont be able to focus on 2020 which is fast approaching and by that, they take over the oval. Its just playing politics with the whole thing nothing else.
358  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does MEDIA affect you? A poll on: November 05, 2019, 01:55:23 PM
Okay, this may seem silly.

No cause or effect is ascertained by this poll!

Regardless...

Someone recently pointed out that people in the crypto world are likely not typical consumer "TV watchers."

Is this true or are we the same as the rest?

Any suggestion on how to handle international outside of USA?

Media goes beyond TV really and quite a number of people on the forum within certain age range would admit that they watch less of TV including me but that does not take out the fact that media influences us. There is the social media which quite a number of us cannot do without, there is also the outdoor media that stares at you when anytime you step out, then the paper media you get to read in magazines probably in bank and when you need to while away time. All of these put together play significant role in the decision we make. In crypto, a news site release a statement and the consuming audience used that as a source to create a thread on the forum which then influence someone to either buy or sell his holdings. Media is powerful and would continue to be unless one wants to live in isolation.
359  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-03] Bitcoin YTD Performance Exceeds 140%, Outperforms Most Traditional on: November 05, 2019, 10:42:09 AM
With its spectacular performance, Bitcoin certainly already merits the title of 2019’s best-performing asset.

https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-ytd-performance-exceeds-traditional-assets/

Except one has some high level insider information which is illegal by the way, there is no stock that would do the return that bitcoin has done in recent years and not even the precious commodities we have across the globe and even currency itself for those trading in the forex market. I think this is one of the news that needs to be pushed out rigorously in other to counteract the effect the proponents of the disadvantages of the presence of volatility in the crypto ecosystem as a prohibiting block to mass adoption. While that might look restricting the use of bitcoin to be a store of value, it still does not change the fact that at this moment, its one factor that makes this market interesting.
360  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Hacked Blockchain.com Wallet - You should NEVER use online wallets ! on: November 05, 2019, 08:56:23 AM
I don't understand how blockchain.info gets hacked even though they send authentication mails when anyone logs in but when my wallet got hacked, I got no mail and lost 0.05 BTC. Like in my case, I had installed a phishing software, sure the user must have done the same or used a phishing app which is why he lost his bitcoins. Blockchain.info is itself the worse wallet to use as they don't send authentication mails and just say they use 2FA.

All of those measures to ensure your account is safe are just precautionary and nothing absolute for two reasons. Its either the hackers are smart enough to intercept whatever verification that is being sent to the owners of the account for verification or there is an element of human at the back end who compromise things and because the Company will never publicly admit to such error from their end, they give room for people to carry such activities out. How do I know this, in the bank it is mandatory that every transactions that goes through your account, you get notified via email or text but there is a way the bankers do it that you might be debited or credited and you won't be notified in that case, whatever verification that needs to be done can be deactivated for that purpose alone until the deed is done.
