161  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: GDPR Compliance in Europe is enough for users to trust with KYC info? on: January 09, 2020, 03:21:24 PM
GDPR- General Data Protection Regulation
We are an Estonia based Crypto Exchange company. We are licensed under the Govt of Estonia.

NIOC EXCHANGE OÜ, LICENSE NO FVR000684, DATED 29.01.2019. LICENSE NO FRK000591, DATED 29.01.2019

We are also GDPR compliant organization. Under the GDPR guidelines, we cannot disclose or share any KYC related documents with any third party.

Here is the full link for more details on GDPR. https://gdpr.eu/what-is-gdpr/

Still, users in BITCOINTALK are not ready to trust our exchange. What can we as a start-up or any start-up do to make people trust us?

Trust in the crypto community in a very expensive commodity and its not cheap. The big exchange today have also lost customers since the advent of the KYCs into the crypto community and don't think the issue is isolated to your platform alone, its general but the difference here is that yours is a start up compared to others that have existed in the market for a long while.

Now the issue you need to deal with is advertisement and find a way around relaxing the rule against people. Yes the laws are there but you can find a way around it. Even Poloniex is doing same by introducing levels for people depending on the amount of information they are willing to supply to the exchange site for them to trade. You can start something like that or start thinking in that direction.
162  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: UK - latest HMRC guidance on Cryptocurrency on: January 09, 2020, 02:02:19 PM
The publication says,

Quote
This paper sets out HMRC’s view - based on the law as it stands at the date of publication – about how individuals who have cryptoassets are taxed. It does not explicitly consider the tax treatment of cryptoassets held for the purposes of a business carried on by an individual.

You need to understand how lucky you guys are! You already have a legal framework where crypto is legally recognized. Also you have a tax law around this. Finally now you have a guidance publication to support the individuals who deal in cryptos!

In my country, bank accounts are getting freezed for dealing in cryptos!

Thats one unique advantage citizens that live in a developed and a more exposed economy tend to enjoy while the government in other countries especially the fairly backward ones sees their citizens as moving too fast than the country in terms of technological advancement and the only thing they see is a threat and nothing else. Every options they can see is how the technology can be potentially used to cause serious harm and nothing the inherent advantages that it possesses.

A framework like this is just a step in the right direction because whatever happens after will be based on that framework as every policies, laws, regulations, decisions will be based on achieving the objectives set in the framework.
163  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Law Firm Sued for Advising Fund That Cryptocurrency Assets Are Not Securities on: January 09, 2020, 11:00:04 AM
A former client is suing international law firm Faegre Baker Daniels for legal malpractice. Digital Capital Management claims the company gave it questionable advice relating to the setting up of a cryptocurrency investment fund.

According to a report in Bloomberg Law, Digital Capital Management filed the complaint against the legal firm on December 31. It claims that Faegre Baker Daniels gave the company “erroneous” legal advice as it was preparing to launch a fund focused on investing in the digital asset space.

In the eyes of SEC, most of the cryptocurrencies are classified as securities.

However, there are countries who claimed that cryptocurrencies are legal tender and not as securities. I know there's going to be a debate about cryptocurrencies being classified as securities or not.

I do have a question for you guys though. Do they deserve to get sued for giving advice that cryptocurrencies are not securities? Or is this not necessary at all? What would be your reaction to this one guys?

Cheers!

Its normal for people to get sued. Getting sued does not mean being guilty. The law firm that makes its own suggestion to the client must have a basis as to why they made such statement would be made in court then the court would decide if they acted in good faith or not. But really I don't see any difficulty there. If someone advises you, you are at liberty to either accept or reject. If they didn't give you the advise you wanted, then you sack them and request for a new one or a better lawyer.
164  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Kraken sees global uptick in data requests by law enforcement on: January 09, 2020, 09:56:44 AM

anyone surprised by this? i'm not. kraken puts this report out every year, and every year it confirms the same trend: more and more requests from law enforcement. the only surprising thing is the USA government's share of total requests is falling.

The way its going, the real power resides with the one with the most amount of data and what is what is being done. The world today is gradually becoming so unsafe and bad people are constantly looking for ways to ensure that they carry out their activities while its the function of government to ensure that they are not successful and having the right amount of information is a good way to ensure that.
165  Economy / Economics / Re: Since 2009 There Was A 500% Increase In Internet Traffic. on: January 08, 2020, 03:30:39 PM
Since 2009 There Was A 500% Increase In Internet Traffic. Today, The Average Household Has More Than 7 Internet-Connected Devices, By 2020 There Will Be 6.58 Connected Devices Per Person. With A 7.5 Billion Global Population, That’s 50 Billion Devices.

The basis of this data for me is largely skewed in the sense that there are households mostly in the developed world where a family can have more than 10 internet enabled devices for a family of 5. But using that as a statistics to predict for the entire world is largely over reaching as there are several families spread across the world that internet enabled devices there is not up to 2 because the lack of infrastructure, poverty level, low education among other factors that have continued to mitigate against such penetration.
166  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran has made a huge mistake and the world will pay a price for it. on: January 08, 2020, 12:32:27 PM
Iran has launched missiles at the Iraqi bases where US forces are staying and this act is an open declaration of war in my opinion, though Iran has not termed it as a war yet but they’re openly challenging US into starting one.

I feel this move is really stupid because they haven’t planned it through in their emotions they have given Trump a reason why he should immediately declare war on them, which will not only crush their economy but will effect entire world’s economy too.

It’s pertinent to note that Trump has tweeted a very casual tweet and I’m surprised about his casual language, he’s said he’ll give a statement in the morning and I’m eagerly waiting for it because it’ll give us major insights about his next plan of action.

Except the Iranian government release a statement that they are firing at the troops, then it cannot be regarded as that should the United States because of such an isolated event launched more weapons then its will be show of force. It could be interpreted as an act of a disgruntled fellow, it could also be a form of sabotage for all I care where someone of parties who stands to gain should war erupt are looking for series of ways to fast track their own bottom line. I am not saying its not a provocation but acting rashly is not what the world needs now. Peace is better than war and that is what the world needs right now.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Qatar Bans CryptoCurrency on: January 08, 2020, 11:10:22 AM
The Regulatory Authority shall impose penalties in accordance with its rights and obligations [...] in case of any violation of undertaking [...] activities that are not permitted in the QFC.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/qatar-financial-centre-puts-blanket-ban-on-cryptocurrency-businesses

Its good that they mention that its until further notice and they did not put a specific timeline to it for the ban to be effective, neither did they say its banned for life which means that they can either lift it tomorrow or in the next ten years. What the ban really means is that, give us time to figure out the entire process all over again so that we can plug all the lapses we have noticed that is dangerous or threatened our own interest.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Withdrew 60k USDC from Binance and it doesn't show on etherscan. Lost 60k???? on: January 08, 2020, 10:34:02 AM
Sorry about the confusion, i did withdraw total of 60k but its in 4 transactions

1st is 15744
2nd is 15651.832499
3rd is 15758.636874

Finding 4th one

i am sorry if its lame, i do feel like a monkey with a gun, not knowing what i am doing.

You don't even have to feel any sorry for what you have done. 60k is not a small amount of money to just see things not going the right way and coming to the forum to ask is the best thing to do. Remembering the first time I tried sending bitcoin on my wallet, it was as if the time for it to reflect after sending was going to be forever although the amount was small to some other people, but to me, it was a serious one that needs to get cleared as soon as possible. So you don't have to feel like a noob, it can happen to anybody.
169  Other / Politics & Society / Re: why are us-demorats so upset, wasn't war in the middle east what they wanted? on: January 07, 2020, 04:04:16 PM
why are democrats in the us so upset about a possible iran war,

iran acts like a nazi state and wants nuclear weapons to threathen rest of the world.

treaties with iran are absolutely worthless only stupid EU officials trust them.

War is never the option and surely not the solution no matter the political party or ideology because the casualty of war does not discriminate against Blue States or the Red States everyone will be affected and not only those at the war front everyone including citizens of countries that no nothing about the treaties or the violation of such treaties. And when decisions or actions that would lead to those endeavors or untold magnitude of losses, people reason beyond political parties to backtracked and review whatever stand they have made in the past even those who are provoked to make such decision.
170  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is Iran obsessed with nuclear energy and isn't seeking renwable energy? on: January 07, 2020, 03:23:56 PM
Sometimes in the past, the countries that determine the directions of others have gold, at some other point, its was the one with the most industralized society, later it was the currency or military power but in this generation we are fortunate to be part of, its the countries with the highest amount of chemical weapons in its arsenal that control things which is why most countries are not concerned with renewable or independence of its people rather how its being perceived in the outer world. With the provocation that happened over the weekend, only few countries have made their position known and one thing they have in common is either they are being sentimental or they know the party or parties concerned can do anything because of the amount of the chemical firepower.
171  Economy / Economics / Re: What is safe asset? And If USA dollar weakining what is Next Fiat? on: January 07, 2020, 02:13:43 PM
Unless the Chinese government just decides to maintain neutrality in the imaginary war that is going to happen based on what we discussing here, I don't see Yen as the best alternative as the impact that the war would make on weakening the dollar, same thing would be applied to Yen. It might not be in the same degree but it will surely take a hit.

The best currency now is that there should not be war because if it happens, the best currency would be the least of all our problems...
172  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Thought I got scammed but now what? on: January 07, 2020, 01:12:05 PM
Hey everyone-

I should start by saying I know VERY LITTLE about trading.
A little over a year ago, a trusted friend was referred to invest into a company who does the trading for you. She ended up getting a nice return and referred me. I was skeptical but because she was a trusted friend and had already received a return on her investment, I decided to give it a shot.
I invested several 1000's and then the company said they got hacked a couple months later.
Anyways, I figured I had been scammed and just let it go. But a week ago I just thought I'd email to see if I could get my return back.
I didn't expect a response but I got one.
So here I am now. They tried sending it to the blockchain address I created but I had no idea what I was doing and I received an email this morning that they (the company who does the trading) tried to send over the the transfer but the wallet address was not eligible.

They said my bitcoin wallet needs to be activated with company wallet.

Clearly I have no idea what that means and I also did not add any banking info, etc in my blockchain because the last thing I want is for my bank account to be compromised.

Can anyone help me figure this out so I can get my money back?

Thank you!

In adding my opinion, I would say you need to even be more careful at this time because it is very unlikely that a company that claimed to be hacked are now willing to send funds and even notify you. Again, I have not read any where that a blockchain address could not be verified. It smells more scam as it shows to them that you have created more opportunity for them to get more money.

Seems OP have resolved the matter and for anyone who might witnessed this later in the future, when its sound too good to be true, its probably false and its better to err on the side of caution and being greedy.

localbitcoin steals me?

I have got 0.04233733 btc insite localbitcoin
I tried to withdraw
localbitcoin doesn't allow
localbitcoin has changed T&C and tell me
if you want your money accept the conditions
I do not want to accept imposed conditions
I may not accept
localbitcoin can close my account if wants
but localbitcion must allow me to withdraw my money before

but no...

to localbitcoin

I have to accept the conditions yes or yes or bye bye muy bitcoin...

localbitcoin steals me?

While I understand your grouse against local bitcoin, unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about it. They can change their Terms and Conditions as they wish and they even don't have to notify you but they would because I know anytime there is going to be a major update such as this, they send a notification to all their customers.

So, you have one option either to forget about the money and the KYC or fill the KYC and have access to your funds, there is no alternative to that...
174  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA NATO Strong Military power vs Middle east on: January 06, 2020, 01:39:16 PM
USA have so Strong Military power together with NATO that im sure they can crush the whole Middle east in one day...

So why the Middle east Even try to fight against USA and NATO??
They Can't see that USA and NATO have a lot Military power and influence Around the world?

Yes there is military might on the part of NATO and the United States but that does not mean it should be used to oppress others. The Middle East knows their strength which is why they would not go head to head for the sake of innocent civilians. The reason why there is so much noise now is because of the already tensed situation between Iran and the United States and I believe none of them wants war just showing their straight and noises all over the place. War is not the solution. The remnants and spoils of WW2 is still fresh in some people memory which has created an unending hatred till tomorrow and now we are looking at WW3.
175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee backs out of his $1 million bitcoin prediction on: January 06, 2020, 12:51:10 PM
When he make the prediction with the attached bet, I the forum was flooded with people creating a thread to discuss his bet thinking that he would fulfill it while some other people might even have put money in crypto thinking that the price he is wagering is too expensive for it not to be true but alas, he has gladly chickened out. Its actually not a surprise that he has now turned the joke on those who believed him initially and turning it to mean new entrants forgetting that for anyone to locate him and his interest in crypto, the person cannot be regarded to be a newbie.
176  Economy / Economics / Re: Grandma tell you to keep old coin in piggy bank on: January 06, 2020, 12:04:25 PM
Remember your grandma told you??

She said the old coins you keep inside your piggy bank would fetch high values in future, but the old coins you keep inside your trusted bank service, $ 1000 would be still $ 1000 after 20 years??

Do you know how old America eagle coins fetch many folds higher values than its face value??

What happens??

Now let’s look at this:

Keep your bitcoin and shitcoin under the custodian bank service

Vs

Keep your bitcoin and shitcoin in your online wallet

After 20 years, what will happens to the value in your bank vs the value in the wallet, and why on the bank is still the same?

Now will you tell your grand grand kids the same advices your grandma tell you, “my sweet child’s, keep your shitcoin and it would fetch high value!”

Yes there have been some coins that have become valuable and would still be valuable in the near future but at the same time there are some shit coins that would never become valuable no matter how its being pushed or promoted. However, its all about risk because one limited factor to human is the inability to see the future and that is a fundamental thing that cause error in judgement and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
177  Economy / Economics / Re: World Economy and war situation and crypto on: January 06, 2020, 10:00:20 AM
Whats Ur take on that?

War situation USA Trump Economy and crypto Currrency?

Do u Think that current situation have any impact on crypto?

War is not happening. Nobody in its right sense should start making plans or making conjectures about what will happen to crypto should it happen. The aggression on both sides is just reaction to the spur of the moment when they both sit down and count the cost aside the material costs, the human lives that would be lost, both will agree and accept that peace and compromise is the way to go couple with the other factors and people that would intervene in the matter just to avoid war by all means necessary...
178  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iraq votes to expel US Coalition Troops on: January 06, 2020, 08:09:39 AM
In a stunning rebuke to the US (that MEANS NOTHING) Iraqi Lawmakers voted 170-0 to expel US troops (and coalition troops) from Iraq. It's important to note that this vote is not final as this current caretaker government doesn't have the authority to oust the US (from NY times, will source this below) Most members of the chamber hadn't been present as well, as there are 328 members of the chamber and the rest hadn't attended the vote as they were boycotting it. These other members are Sunni and Kurds.

I''d just like to note again that what they've passed is a nonbinding resolution asking for the PM of Iraq to rescind the invitation of the US to assist in removing ISIS from the country. Pretty much a nothing burger.

Source:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/iraqi-parliament-votes-in-favor-of-expelling-u-s-troops-11578236473

Since the strike of the US against the Iran military leader, there have been some ripple effect which is what we are seeing that the Iraq parliament are moving towards but the moment the euphoria of war that has been a loud one since last week has died down, I think the Iraq parliament will want to have a stay on whatever they are planning for the United States military. Expelling them from the country does not mean they would just carry their bags and board the next flight to DC or LA it will take time and that time is what the US will try as much as possible to extend either to decimate Iran should war happen or to make their case for continual stay in Iraq... My opinion though...
179  Other / Politics & Society / Re: slavery always was the condition of 99%+ of the worlds society and even elites on: January 03, 2020, 04:17:02 PM
african americans are pissed of since once they where put into so called "plantagions" where they helped growing plants (for the british or spanish empires), similar like other slaves throughout human history

but what is the difference between a plantagion and a workplace? effectively its the same.

there is either, you get ruled and to live under a nationalist or geographic banking cartel dictatorship (russia, china, usa, eu) or you get to live under an imperial financial cartel (british, spanish empire)

alternatively 99% of people are also defacto salary slaves in a marxist proletarian dictatorship.

and not to mention theistic middle eastern kingdoms, and not just middle eastern also african european and even aztec kingdom used and catched slaves.

what are blacks in america living in wealth complain therefore about?

regards

Comparing an outright slavery to wanna be slavery is either being economical with the truth or just a form of consolation to yourself or probably you are apologetic to the fundamental error that our forefathers have committed. How do you compare someone who could get raped, made to dance for its owners in nakedness, turned to a pimp, sold like a commodity or eventually killed for no justifiable reasons as to someone who probably getting paid for staying at home in the name of social welfare. Its not comparable and no one should not attempt to do such.
180  Economy / Economics / Re: Say Goodbye to Banking as We Know It on: January 03, 2020, 02:25:17 PM
If there is any country that caught one by surprise its China and I think all over the years when they were out against crypto, it was a strategy to discourage other countries from developing because of the significance they occupy in world market. The moment they were able to send the message out that they are against digitalization, it gave them the opportunity to further research and then develop. While US is going against Facebook's Libra, I am sure they would be happy. Now they are fairly on top and others would start rushing,
