2161  Other / Meta / Re: Possible Solution For ICO Inbox Spam on: December 28, 2017, 07:36:17 PM
It's also unacceptable that people are waiting several months and even indefinitely in some cases to have their accounts restored even with a signed message already verified by others.

Maybe an account recovery fee would help speed things up a bit?

How?Huh?

There is basically only theymos who is half afk doing that. We would just need more paid Admins or something around that line.
Cyrus, not theymos is mainly working with account recovery. Don't know how fee would help to make account recovery faster if Cyrus getting dozens of requests each day.

Maybe if there was a recovery fee, there would be less requests and users would take better care securing their accounts.

I would also want to lend my voice to this, that it should be taken separately in the sense that it should not be made as a paid position rather a volunteer one but the account recovery fee should be used as compensation for such individual stress in other to verify the message and ensure that the right individual account should be restored.

Also, as a further suggestion to make the meta section cleaner, a thread should be opened for this where request would only be made, a time line is open for someone to contest it, ( because some people would have sold the account but because they have access to a signed account that have been created before the sale, they unscrupulously get back their account) maybe one week or 14 days should be done for this before final restoration.
2162  Other / Meta / Re: Self-moderation on the marketplace on: December 28, 2017, 06:22:18 PM
To begin with, I understand that this forum does not moderate scams- scammers are not banned and the only recourse for doing so is through user-generated feedback. While the trust system helps a great deal in warning users about which trades should be dealt with caution, I think more can be done to warn those who aren't as savvy.

As much as I admire this laissez-faire policy when it comes to trading, I don't think it would impinge too much on users' freedom if the ability to self-moderate threads posted in the Marketplace section was removed. To me, this is the equivalent of being able to curate your feedback- something you would only want to do if you have something to hide. If you look at which threads are self-moderated, I think this trend is pretty clear. Most users' first instinct when they're scammed is to post in the scammer's thread warning others. Unless they're in other users' trust networks, this warning is usually more visible than any feedback they might leave on the offender's profile.

Hopefully the staff will consider making this change. I don't believe it would be a hard one to implement, and I can't think of any significant negative repercussions it would have.

The exchange section is where I have seen the need for the complete removal of the self moderation thread and even the ability to lock thread. Over there, majority of people trading are newbies, I wonder how they did it. Again, some self moderated thread and locked thread over there have open scam accusations against them but no one can post it on their thread in other to warn other people what. The moment they bump the thread with mouth watering deals, its locked for another innocent victims to fall for the scam again.

2163  Economy / Marketplace / Re: "Bitcoin mining is a Big no!" on: December 28, 2017, 05:54:20 PM
Ive met some group of financial adviser, they told me that the best way to aquire bitcoin is through cloud mining, they gave me names of trusted cloud mining providers and as of my research, they are well known and trusted.
Then ive met some people, whos already earning big bucks on bitcoin, they dont recommend cloud mining. They told me that its expensive and risky, but as for my understanding its good way of gaining passive income.
What are the possible reason on thier contradiction?
Whos recommendation should i try and why?

Your team of financial advisers might be right on other suggestions they have proffered but the bold part is not the best way to earn bitcoin surely not the only way as the cloud mining section of the crypto community have been infested with scammers that to identify a legit one is gradually turning into a nightmare while when you eventually get one, you have to wait until forever to get a return.

I will be tilting towards the latter school of thought, you want to make more bitcoin buy, learn the art of trading, and then practice it as that is the only surest way.
2164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin now make it super easy to fund something in full secret on: December 28, 2017, 07:43:10 AM
It does no matter for good cause or bad cause because what matter is bitcoin are not made for bad cause, if thare some peoples who use bitcoin for bad cause then it is not the blame for bitcoin, just like peoples who make and sell knife where knife can be used in the kitchen or can be used to hurt peoples.

I'm now using bitcoin to gather funds to advance the movement I'm on.

You are correct in your analogy but its not the same thing in comparing the two just like comparing someone who is asleep and the other who is dead while one can wake with the sound of a loud music, the other cannot. That being said, knife can be used to kill but when it happen, the person involved can be made to face the crime he has committed with the knife tendered as an evidence while in the case of bitcoin, it cannot even be traced to the individual who could be said to have master minded the attack ( this is the position of the regulators and their argument against bitcoin).

However, if the course you are following is a noble one, then I don't see why it should be a secretive one and mind you, to do that would soon even end by the time the KYC is taken to a new height just to ensure the person behind the bitcoin is identified.
2165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: South Korea government plans to identify all the users of exchanges. on: December 28, 2017, 06:37:15 AM
Another step into regulation and preventing anonymity:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-12-28/bitcoin-drops-as-south-korea-says-exchange-closures-are-possible

“South Korea will require real-name cryptocurrency transactions and impose a ban on the offering of virtual accounts by banks to crypto-exchanges, according to a statement from the Office for Government Policy Coordination.”

It seems this have push down crypto markets as well. I think we are going to have more of this kind of regulations in 2018 and we have to be prepared for that, the day when you will be able to spend your cryptos directly from your paper or hardware wallet is still very far away.

Regulations in 2018 is going to take a real turn with several countries and exchange sites having to fall in line of other major sites that have already implemented this policy and its very simple to do. Anyone who still thinks this won't happen all over should either start having a rethink, or better still look for something else because this has come to stay.

Its actually a form of acceptance from government in that they have realised, we can only accommodate and regulate within the confines of our powers as banning will not be the right approach which then gives quite a number of people the opportunity to be proud in engaging in cryptocurrency. Brace up people its a win-win for all parties.
2166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How foolish are people who invest in Bitcoin? on: December 27, 2017, 08:56:02 PM
How many idiots who decided to invest in bitcoin!!!!!!!

It is necessary not to watch as he grows from 15000 to 17000. This is a visual illusion.
And as it grows from 1.5 to 1.7.....

In recent days printed 180 million tether and still no big growth....
Lending on the stock exchange came to a billion dollars.
The credit rate on the day was a record and more than the 0.103%.

This means that the market has reached its peak. The price of cryptocurrency maximum.
This is the moment when you have to sell everything.

So began a process of growth needs the infusion of more money.... They're gone.

I think the joy of endless growth to an end this weekend.

Nothing in this world is eternal and permanent.....
And rising prices of bitcoin are not eternal.... all ends already.....

The foolishness of some people is the peak of intelligence of some other people and exactly what bitcoin is all about and the inconsistencies and uncertainties that surrounds price at this time. In moments like this, I expect divergent opinions where people will be experts in issues where in the past couple of years, they had no idea about.

My concern is that latter part of the message that all ends already and what exactly do you mean by that? Going historical analysis, bitcoin is expected to increase then fall after which there is a resistance which might either be long-term or short-term as what we are seeing now. The end is still not near the the potential to grow is still very much open. Just don't come with another suggestions when the resistance is broken.
2167  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Could BitCoin Ageing be a solution to BlockChain bloat? on: December 26, 2017, 03:32:11 PM
Hey, I know this is probably was considered before, but why not make coins have limited age before they return to coinbase? Say if coins have not been moved for 8 years it "returns" to coinbase (i.e. become unspent) and become minable. This way coins that was unspent for certain amount of time will eventually reenter circulation, we can discontinue block reward halving practice, eliminate satoshi's stash (or force him to reveal himself) and reintroduce destroyed funds to the market. This will also limit blockchain size so we would be able to use much larger blocks, allowing much more tx/second since blockchain size will be capped. More I think of it, better it seems from scaling perspective.

I know I probably missing some significant downsides but I can't see something that can't be compensated.

You have made a valid point in that in this current situation that bitcoin has found itself, there is need for serious thinking out of the box in making the situation a better place. However, the suggestion you made from where I stand, are not improvement rather they are complete deviation or alteration of the initial plan.

On the issue of returning coins to coinbase or any place at all, that is centralization which is making some body have direct influence over the entire bitcoin. The number of years you suggested is another thing because with the potential that bitcoin has, some people would keep beyond 8 years who should then repay them in case they come back for their bitcoin.

Other ways should be suggested on improving the current situation but not this.
2168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: URGENT: need smart people on: December 25, 2017, 09:47:56 AM
How to transact my bitcoins after hard-fork without losing the forked altcoins (i.e., bitcoin diamond, BCX, Super Bitcoin, etc) which lack of replay attack protection except for export my private key and recovery phrase?

Current status: In order to gain various hard-forked altcoins, I stored my bitcoins into my hardware Ledger Nano S wallet before hard-fork. After hard-fork, I am going to move my bitcoins from my hardware wallet into exchanges for transaction. As some of the hard-forked altcoins have no replay attack protection and no new launched corresponding wallets by the Dev, if I move my bitcoins to exchanges the altcoins will be moved and I will lose the ownership of these altcoins.

Question: I am wondering how I can use my bitcoins without losing my hard-forked altcoins.

I appreciate your help.

This your concern even though is something serious from your point of view, its something so simple as its one of the fundamental thing that would be effected even before the forked coin is launched for people to claim (except those who have theirs on exchange site though). All you just need to do is to ensure you have you private key, which you already did, Google how to go about and most importantly,  download the right software or application to claim your forked coin version and you are good to go.
2169  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Cost to have a btc wallet created? on: December 24, 2017, 12:10:08 PM
This is a general question. What is the average usual reasonable cost to have a bitcoin wallet created for a client? The wallet platform, not the website included.

Thanks.

The truth is that if you are not someone so techy and blockchain inclined the most shady job could be the best one from your own point of view and a little bug which might be intentional or not, might cost your client a whole lot of money just like someone pointed out that could even taint your own reputation and there is no way to stay clean in this situation.

An option is to look into a way to install an API for your website which will then connect like a merchant to an established and reputable wallet provider or even a peer-to-peer site. With that, you can all get what you needed.
2170  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: address collision vs quantum attack on: December 23, 2017, 06:03:34 PM
Not to reveal my public key, against quantum attacks, I am storing my coins in unspent address but it creates address collision risk, to avoid this I need to make a transaction to broadcast my public key to the network then my wallet is vulnerable to quantum attacks so I need to choose one of these, which one is more likely to happen? quantum attack or address collision
.
I am afraid this is an endless quest that would result into pure waste of time because I don't see the practicability of any of the above happening at least not any time soon. On the issue of quantum computer the level of development to achieve that is something not even close to now following the stages of technological development. What gave me rest is the development of a technology that would take a quantum computer to defeat with the quantum computer itself.

On the address collision, I believe all desktop wallet already have the maximum address they can generate with their individual private keys which means the issue of address collision does not arise. It possible to export all of the private key in an Electrum wallet and their address used or not used.
2171  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Request feedback on our token sale on: December 23, 2017, 05:11:14 PM
We are requesting that members of the bitcointalk community take a look at our ITO.

We are experiencing a high volume of international traffic with no participation or inquiries.

We are operators, not coders and programmers and would like to know what it I that we may be missing.

Thank you in advance.

Jeff

http://moefarms.com/ico.html

Looking into the site, I am sure you won't even raise as low as 1% of what you intend to raise because that site is just too shabby for any one to take serious for whatever reason. The site in my opinion needs a thorough clean up and most importantly the ICO should even be taken off the front page. Get a professional to do some serious work on the interface of the website and even the process of participating in that unique ICO of yours should be taken out entirely. Just take a look out at the website of recent well planned ICO and you would have a clue of what to do on that site. I won't out a dime on such shabby thing.
2172  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How BTC Push service works? 1 confirmation or more? on: December 23, 2017, 10:56:27 AM
https://pushtx.btc.com

How exactly this work mean client buy push for one confirmation only?
Mean if exchange require 3, what then?
Once it will be paid and confirmed others start confirm quicker?
Am I thinking good? I mean not need to buy X times.

The moment your transaction has 1 confirmation, you are sure that it cannot be reversed or double spend in the case of receiving payment for some goods you have sold. And subsequent confirmations can just flow in without you even knowing when its happening but the moment you paid the required fee or even higher than the minimum, I don't think there is anything else that you can do again than to just wait and eventually everything will be completed in due time. The only thing there is losing out when you need it urgently just like wanting to buy a coin, bet on a game just like you have said.
2173  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Number of campaigns and other than ICO projects are reduced from 2016-17 on: December 23, 2017, 09:40:29 AM
Hi buddies,

Since I am being part of the forum. I noticed many projects has been advertized in the forum with the signature campaigns. People who ever know completely about the bitcoin marketing side, without this forum they cannot market their project among the bitcoin or altcoins user. In that situation till last there was many signature campaign specially runs for gambling, mixers, exchanges, debit card services and even adult services also advertized here with the huge payments. But recent days I don't understand that investors turns to ICO alone or gambling investors and others are no more needed to advertised with the bbcode.

You may check the top ten ICO list in any site. Almost 6 to 7 ICOs will used the signature campaigning as the one source for marketing. That is the power of signature campaign managers. Since we have most trusted campaign managers like Yahoo, Lauda, edwarded and etc. Investors reach them promote the project around with the signature contains your site link and other information.

I think that it will helps from project owner to till bbcode creator or campaign participant. Thank you.

With faith on bitcoin and forum members,
*solarion*

From last year to till this time, a lot of things have happened. Regulations have gotten tighter with people now more conscious of what is the legal status of what I am operating or I intend to operate from last year. This year we have seen a major mixing site closed down and anyone cannot just take it up without putting a lot of things in consideration.

Another is the continued increase in the price of bitcoin. The whole of companies that are running some form of campaign cough out quite an amount of dollars weekly which was not as expensive as last year where I could run a campaign without having to break the bank.

Another reason is the issue particular to the forum, today, a lot of threads are being created for the same purpose with people giving the same answer all over again. So if I as an individual wants to set up and cannot afford to hire a manager, I would rather not be involved. But in all, we have faired better and it can only get better.
2174  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: EtherDelta: Might Have Been Compromised on: December 23, 2017, 08:05:46 AM
I feel sorry to those who been included on this hacked. But its your fault on the very first place. Using that exchange to trade is crazy, that's why I never put my traded coins and never make any account/s there.

There is nothing wrong in using an exchange because you cannot just do without them. If you don't use EtherDelta, you would use another one which makes it a subject of attacks. The most important is not using the exchange sites to serve the purpose of a wallet the moment you do that, you are only making yourself vulnerable to no fault of yours. Trade, make profit and withdraw to a more secure wallet where you can control everything that happens to your wallet.

With that, you are good to go, I have used EtherDelta before but only for trade so when news like this filtered the airwaves, I am at peace with myself rather than searching all through the internet looking for answers and solutions.
2175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The "Bitcoin" used here should be called Bitcoin Core Coin. (BCore Coin) on: December 23, 2017, 07:31:50 AM
Calling the "Bitcoin" used by Bitcointalk.org "Bitcoin" seems grossly out of line because I think there are other forks of Bitcoin being used that fit the title of "Bitcoin" better.

I will be calling Bitcoin, as used here on Bitcointalk, by the more proper name of Bitcoin Core Coin or BCore Coin.

That is so good decision of yours but be sure you are consistent with it because in the last two years when there was no forked bitcoin coin, there was nothing like this and the characteristics that you have to determine which one is the right one was only in bitcoin. So, in the next few years when those ones you are switching the name of bitcoin for, starts failing, the 4MB is being filled either through use or spam, be sure to change the name of your coin again and maybe in a lifetime, you would have had not less than 10 coins that have carried the name bitcoin.
2176  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone dealt with Bitcoinearnmoney.com? on: December 23, 2017, 06:45:19 AM
Their website is registered in the USA with a real persons info (it's not hidden) and they are associated with an IT support company called Globe Technotonics LLC which has a Facebook page and reviews. Registered to the same address. Their prices seem ok but the t9 seems very cheap which is why I was hoping it was real.

I called Globe Technotonics and that have legit customer support altho it seems to be outsourced to india. Their fb page references articles on Bitcoinearnmoney.com

What do u guys think?
All these you have listed are just something someone will  put in place in other to scam and its pretty a simple thing to do. You talk about the Facebook page and reviews. Has it happened to you that you visited a page on Facebook, and every reviews are just no where to be found just in a matter of days.

I would suggest you do more due diligence in the company and I am sure they are not the only distributor in what you want to buy. They are in China but registered in USA while there is nothing wrong in this, but you need to verify more because that nice site could just operate in the garage. There are several sellers who have even distinguished themselves that you can trust.
2177  Economy / Exchanges / Re: CEX.IO Does not accept new members anymore. on: December 22, 2017, 08:01:57 PM
I am registered on cex.io too but I have not receive any mail but if this is try, then its all good. I have heard about someone complain about not giving regard to old members and if they can trace back their steps in understanding that its not about the numbers but the efficiency that surrounds service delivery, they are sure to win back the goodwill and trust of the community. I wonder why other exchange sites are not doing this, recognising your strength and capability is one key element to success which they have come to recognised.

They upgrade their system, clear out all backlog issues then decide whether they want to accept new clients or just maintaining the old ones and making them more happy.
2178  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving post quality? on: December 22, 2017, 05:46:52 PM
A couple of ideas that have been floating around in my head:
1. To attain ranks above Member, you'd have to earn some number of merit points. Merit points would be awarded in a monthly vote on best posts of the previous month, with various measures (TBD) to prevent gaming of the vote. Winning merit points might also come with a BTC prize.

2. Create or designate some sections as "serious discussion" sections, with no signatures. In those sections or maybe in different ones, also have poster restrictions such as Member rank or above only. And/or allow topic-creators to set these restrictions on their topics, similar to selfmod topics.

What do you think of these ideas, and what other ideas do people have?

I am actually happy that we are really having a discussion about this. But truth be told, even implementing the whole of the suggestions by people, will not solve all of our problems rather it would only mitigate it to a large extent and I would suggest that after the thread has gathered enough contributions, actions point should be sorted based on opinions that have been expressed then we can all vote on which line of actions because not everyone can be heard the same way not everyone can have something to say.

The issue of member rank before posting should be that people below certain ranks, should not be allowed to post outside certain section of the forum maybe beginners and help and the point to be garnered should be on completion of some tasks such as reading and understanding the forum rules, unwritten rules, what could interpret as untrustworthy actions etc.
2179  Other / Meta / Re: Please stop the free tx accelerator spam or at least give it its own section on: December 22, 2017, 04:36:11 PM
It is clogging up the whole service section:

It is kind of annoying as most of those use the same site so there really is no need that many of them.

I must lend credence to this because its really turning into something else on the service section that you see a new thread opening up everyday trying to offer same service and funny enough is that they don't bother about their own website just that you submit your transaction id, and they get it accelerated how they want to do it, which pool they are using, we don't know.

I don't have problem with accelerator services after all the situation of bitcoin gave room to services like that springing up here and there. I have used viabtc too but this is just turning into spamming the forum the more and I think the admin should do more about solving such situation.
2180  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-22]Bitcoin Price Slumps Below $13,000 5 Things To Know on: December 22, 2017, 11:34:30 AM
everyone says they warned. They always did it without any reason. And finally they guessed it))) It still does not prevent bitcoin from breaking through again 20k in 2018

Exactly my point people are fond of quickly noting it when the price is falling, they feel themselves like they knew its going to happen, when the price is rising, they still say people should be careful while those who rely on them without gaining when the price was rising have themselves to blame. All this warnings sometimes I see negates the free will which comes with bitcoin, you get to be gagged by people who thinks they know economics and its analysis to decide for you when to buy and when to sell.

A lot of people would have sold because they feel price is going to crash real big but when price begins to rise they realize its too late to enter the game. For me, I am not bothered whether it increases or it falls I will only sell when I am comfortable with the price as the need arise in my daily living.
