1361  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: John Mcafee & Bitifi launch the first 'unhackable' hardware wallet on: July 05, 2018, 11:58:15 AM
https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/06/19/1526755/0/en/Bitfi-and-McAfee-Announce-First-Truly-Unhackable-and-Open-Source-Crypto-Wallet.html

I particularly enjoy this feature - 'The private key only exists for a fraction of a second, just long enough to approve the transaction and is never stored anywhere' - because a full second is no good.

Have they taken a seemingly impossible leap in security or will this be a bit of a nothing? Truly unhackable is a bold and impossible claim I would've thought.

Having a leap in form of security measures is good but claiming its ''unhackable'' is really an overstretched even bitcoin in which gave the impression that its fool proof, there have been discussions about the effect of the existence of Quantum computer could do to the blockchain. The best is to say its going to be difficult. Aside that saying a software is unhackable is an indictment to all of the existing wallets providing a far reaching satisfaction for people to keep their bitcoin and other crypto currency safe over the years.

I think addition of McAfee to the name is making it seems more popular but that name does not carry any weight from where I stand and I am sure its the same for other people too. Forgetting the human factor in any development is being overly confident which I see happening here. And the feature of private key existing for seconds is what I am not seeing as a special feature because normally when you want to send a transaction on say Electrum, you don't have any business with your private key, enter the necessary details then send without any issue. With this feature now, it means to copy your private key for claiming fork purposes its now a problem.
1362  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Luno help out! on: July 05, 2018, 11:27:02 AM
Can you share the website if what is Luno, never heard this site before.

Anyway, you can try to clear your history and cache by going to settings>history> then clear data.

I suggest you to use a well-known wallet for mobile like electrum or mycelium for android then for IOS phone you can use Green Address its also support on android OS.

Luno is a crypto currency platform that operates mostly in Africa. Its more of a centralized exchange sites on a mini-level where you can buy or sell selected crypto currency. It also has a market section too where selected coins are traded in relation to the local currency rather than dollars or euros on those global platforms. Its legit and straight forward. I know this because I have used them before but was discouraged when I was being charged fees for incoming transactions.
What would probably happen to Op should not go beyond his internet services or browser issues and as suggested, I wish he can just come back and update the post for everyone that have made conclusions based on his earlier post.
1363  Economy / Economics / Re: Long-term or short-term, here are the results you need! on: July 05, 2018, 10:55:01 AM
Alexander Momot, co-founder and CEO of the UK-based cryptocurrency startup REMME, recently posted on Facebook, showing data on ICO tokens held by investors in 36 countries as of June this year, saying the company collected data on almost all white papers. Monitor some of the ICO's overall trends, such as whether residents in each region tend to hold or sell within four months of the currency.

From the data presented by Momot, it can be found that in developing countries such as Brazil, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, and the Philippines, buyers tend to sell ICO tokens within four months after issuing coins. Russia and Ireland also have such short-term buyers, holding only 12% and 21% of investors.

In developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Switzerland, Sweden, and Hong Kong, buyers tend to hold longer, but Ukrainian buyers also tend to hold, and their share of investors held in four months 58%.

Author: chaindd

People invest for different reasons and based in a particular geographical location is just coincidence as the report has identified since the whole people in a particular country will just form an association then decide this is the time to sell and move on to another project its on the basis of individuals and what the interpretation of long term and short term constitutes and then decides based on that.

I personally is an advocate of letting the project mature and kick start but the way its being practiced, even during the ICO, people would have started asking when is it going to be listed on an exchange site, when one is listed, they have for bigger platform and the moment the developers are not giving favorable responses to that, the next is to start speculating some form of scamming activities going on with the project. The best is for people to be genuinely interested in the project they are putting their money in while the developers should plan for long term development and not rush into giving in to request of either short term investors and bounty hunters looking for the next available opportunity to cash out.
1364  Economy / Economics / Re: The influence of hackers on the movement of price is crypto-currency. on: July 05, 2018, 08:58:24 AM
Very often with the news, we read that hackers kidnap the currency of crypt from private wallets, as well as hacking crypto-exchange exchanges and withdrawing from it a huge amount of crypt money. These cryptо currencies, probably, are sold at a price below the market price. Do you think hackers affect price movement at crypto-exchange stations?

The extent of influence on the price is largely determined by the amount of funds involved and the exchange in question. The whole singular hacks on exchanges, wallets, or scams are not enough to cause any issues in price. In the past couple of months, I have read reports about several exchange sites being hack Asia and the amount as high as $30 million but the market just moved on as if nothing happen but if the same $30 million dollars is put at risk on a site like Poloniex or Coinbase even Blockchian.info and its not handled the right way such as ensuring releasing a statement to downplay the event and promise of adequate compensation and the same time boost the confidence of people that such occurrence have been forestalled, but leaving things to chance for it to be leaked to the media, its surely going to cause some serious crash in the market price.
1365  Economy / Economics / Re: Investors continue to invest in crypto-currency on: July 05, 2018, 06:12:03 AM
Investment in crypto currency related business will continue to increase because in the near future the world is going digital and those who see it will be the one that would feature effectively in that future. So irrespective of whatever bad news being circulated all over the internet, it does not remove the potentials that are embedded in this industry. However, even though the indirect would boost the price of crypto currency, it does not mean its investment in crypto currency like just buying bitcoin, ETH, Ripple and any other coins that is making waves to then wait for about 3 years for price to skyrocket then cash out.
1366  Economy / Reputation / Re: I am not your Hater, actmyname on: July 04, 2018, 08:16:26 PM
Hello, I saw this bounty and airdrop on the bounties section and their twiitter audit was failed on 29% of 122,000 Followers are real. Ref. (https://www.twitteraudit.com/EarnHoneydotcom) , I just want to know from community (here) if this is legitimate ICO. What do you think? For me this is not right if the followers are only 29% real and the rest is fake what about the whole project? I'd check the website and its looks like promising project. But I'm confused on this project because of the fake followers.

My Opinion: Why need to used fake followers if its very legitimate.
Question: To see this project most famous than other ICO's?

Bounty Manager: actmyname
Airdrop Manager: actmyname

Bounty Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4549352.0
Airdrdrop Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4587458.0
Twitter Audit result: https://www.twitteraudit.com/EarnHoneydotcom
Real: 36,363
Fake: 85,659
Total: 122,022

Having fake Twitter followers to me, is not enough to declare a project scam sometimes its just to boost the Twitter profile. If my memory serves me right, there was a project sometimes last year or thereabout and they have the fake Twitter followers although not as low 29% and till today, the project is still very valid. Not that I am encouraging to have fake followers but its really hard to build huge number of followers. I have a Twitter account since 2016, I have been able to have 3000 followers.

As for the manager, I think he did right by posting his relationship with the project. As a manager, you don't necessarily need to have the answers but be sure to be transparent about it. Don't let your greed or promise of excessive return cloud your judgement to the extent of not doing what his right. I am sure they if he finds a more compelling reason, you wouldn't have to create a thread before he will do the right thing.
1367  Economy / Reputation / Re: Low reputation because of fraud/scam accusations. on: July 04, 2018, 07:50:24 PM
Hi everyone!
This is Andrew from MARK.SPACE.

Found out this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3286443.msg34279208#msg34279208, raised by Pistacia.
Lauda gave negative feedback, which seriously damaged project reputation.

Guys just got it wrong, misunderstood. Look: Lauda's comment is "They were supposed to pay out 'The Whitepaper states 15 million tokens (0.5% of the overall ico pool)', yet they paid less than 1 million due to their own greed, thereby also committing fraud. Scam project, avoid this team and anything related to them."

"Token allocation" section in our WP says that 0.5% out of total ICO pool (3 billion tokens) is allocated for all bounty events from 2018 to 2021(15 million tokens).
Which does not mean we will pay them at once! And we never stated we pay this sum at once. It's our Bounty fund, which will be used for paying bloggers, helpers, all reap media supporters till full launch of a platform in 2021.
We have 2 rounds of ICO, second one will be in 2019, so Bounty fund tokens will be spent gradually.
Moreover, this fund will be spent on project testing and there will be another Bounty campaign for bug searching.
And even if we put some simple logic in this situation, we have got two rounds of token sale 1)2018 2)2019, why people think we should spend all fund on first round? It's just wrong position to ask all fund to be paid... It's absolutely unfair, don't you think so ?

MARK.SPACE has a lot to do, we dont need low trust because of misunderstanding !

The first question I would ask would be have you put forward your argument to Lauda because she does not just give a negative feedback and when that happen, only her can remove it. If yes, then the only thing you can do is to wait and focus on your project. Based on your response, it seems it might be case of misunderstanding in which you were not expressly clear in your White Paper and for someone who have participated in the campaign would have a target in mind of what he is expected to earn at the end only to be cut short because of further interpretation of the wordings he had relied upon. Also, try to quickly resolve it with your bounty participants because I am they are the one to call Lauda's attention to it.
1368  Economy / Reputation / Re: SebastianJu accepts transaction buying/selling bitcointalk accounts on: July 04, 2018, 06:07:00 PM
Selling accounts here isn't against the rules, but you'd know that if you were ever a part of the community.  Account sales are seriously frowned upon, however, which is why I tagged you for doing that.  I don't tag escrows for keeping those transactions safe, even though I'd much prefer that they didn't get in the middle of account sales.  If you have a problem with that, you can continue your complaint here or wherever you like.

However, you come off as someone who's aggravated that he got tagged and now wants everyone else to get negative trust so that his sense of justice isn't offended.  You've done sweet fuck-all for bitcointalk except shitposting and account sales, so there's a limit as to how seriously I'm going to take your thread here.

I think if the community is frowning against account sales, then it should be total. What is the main purpose of doing this? We all know the ills that comes along with it and the escrow in this case is a respected member of the forum and should have declined such trade in my opinion.

The only situation where the middlemen is to be spared is if he is not aware of the nature of the trade and the only thing he did is just to hold funds for the transaction. The cleaning of the forum should be everyone's responsibility.

Edit: However, making this about the escrow which the Op is trying to achieve here is also not the right way to go because the parties involved knew what they are trying to do and if SebastianJu didn't do the escrow, someone else would probably do it but its better to discourage all avenue that makes it lucrative. #my opinion.
1369  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Amazon stock a good buy? on: July 04, 2018, 05:14:59 PM
I'm looking to diversify my holdings, I know bitcoin is a great investment but I'm also looking at stocks.  It's kinda scary how much Amazon has risen this past year so this may be a bad time to buy it? Any Advice?

Diversifying is good depending on where you have chosen to diversify into. Amazon is a good company and although one does not have access to their internal deals, but I don't see any threat that could curtail their existence in the near future as the company has been able to stay above board since the time I have known about them. But you just have it at the back of your mind that the income from that source is not comparable to from crypto as stability is witnessed in the market where its trading and until huge even happen such as change of management board or declaration of dividend, don't expect the any significant increase in the price and you may have to wait a long time to get your desired return.
1370  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018/07/02] Philippines’ Economic Zone Creating Crypto Regulations on: July 04, 2018, 04:23:34 PM
With over 60 applications, I think that the issuance of only 25 licenses would not suffice. Although this is already big step for the Philippines towards the crypto scene. Baby steps first. Perhaps in the near future after seeing the success that crypto exchanges would bring, it may be realized that more licenses should be issued. Philippines has been neutral for long so this regulation they have made would allow investors and many crypto users in the country to have more opportunities. In fact, the fintech industry have been slowly growing. It’s becoming a trend in the PH now, I think.

Not everybody that seeks admission into colleges or universities gets admitted at least from the place where I come from. It could be different in other climes though. The same thing applies to businesses especially those one that deal with liquid money which attract public trust and could quick cause damage to the economy. If everyone who applies for banking license gets it, then the streets will be flooding with various banks and you all know what that means for the economy so if we want those businesses to be taken seriously, there should be a certain standard of procedures that would instill confidence in the process.

I think its a good start that they are even having a process compared to other countries that are not giving any room for dialogue all they decide that the best way to about is to just ban at the same time claim they are protecting the citizen  from whatever ills that comes from the use of crypto currency while some other countries just decide to ignore by denying the existence all together.

1371  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto Fraud Investigation on: July 04, 2018, 02:10:33 PM
Dear Community!

I am an early Bitcoininvestor and I was really fortunate so far. I came into Cryptocurrencies because I believed (and still do) that it will make our world a better place. Unfortunately everything related to money also attracts fraudsters/imposters of any kind. I would like to give back to the community by dedicating some time into investigation some frauds that i come across.

I have extensiv forensic experience as an accountant and former employee of a government regulation body. I will try to use my expertise and help the community to see the truth behind scams/frauds and bad/greedy people and bring them to justice.

I will choose the topics I dedicate my time to random and I am also open for suggestions from any side. Of course your help is also highly appreciated!

Looking forward to some interesting work.
peace

With your knowledge and wealth of experience, I think its better to deploy it into the areas of ICOs because if you want to go after individual scammers, the fund involve would not worth the amount of energy to get the information. Also, if the individual is discovered, it might be difficult to get action done due to proximity issues. The part of bringing them to justice to me is a 'post natal action' which might not succeed and except you want to take laws into your hands, because most legal system is flawed to allowed for transparency and in case of huge amount, the can lawyer up and frustrate the whole process which would take forever to get closure.

I would prefer you focus on the 'pre-natal' aspect based on your experience, review projects and come out with facts that is free from emotions and feelings then decide whether its ok to proceed or not rather than putting a disclaimer. With that, the trust in your knowledge would increase and you would have saved many from avoidable heart breaks which is one of your objectives set to achieve from the beginning.

1372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will esports gambling be explosive in the future like sports gambling? on: July 04, 2018, 01:04:41 PM
The explosion of World Cup gambling industry has  shocked me.

Along with the development of esprots game, will the esports (electronic sports like LOL, Dota, Counter Strike, HearthStone, Call of duty and so on) gambling be huge in the future?

Guys, what's your vision about the esports gambling business? I'm planning to devote myself into this field. Any advice or suggestion?

The part of devotion caught my attention as to why a young man (maybe not) would only want to devote his time to gambling activities. The industry is growing and something to be aware of but I don't think its enough to commit to it in its totality in the areas of either playing or investing to build a project around it. The reason for that is because the growth cannot be compared to World cup gambling. World cup is played every four years that unify the whole world irrespective of the cultural, political, economic or religious differences. In addition to that, its a sport that have little or no cabal influence (at least to what we can see). compared to an outright electronically controlled sports. World cup will end in less than fifteen days after which the whole paparazzi will end and we are back to the normal setting.
1373  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-02] BILLIONS lost from rival cryptocurrencies as ‘DEAD LIST’ hits 800 on: July 04, 2018, 07:55:34 AM
BITCOIN, Ethereum and Ripple could soon be the last coins standing with over 800 competing cryptocurrencies revealed to be “dead” according to a website collecting crypto scams and abandoned projects.

The bitcoin bubble at the end of 2017 saw thousands of new cryptocurrencies enter the market and compete for the attention of investors consumed by global hype and the prospect of getting rich quick.

These Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) hoovered up money from gullible investors using little more that some code and a speculative white paper outlining the coin’s ambition.

However with bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency having plummeted from over $19,000 in December last year to just over $6,000 today, the enthusiasm for lesser-known coins has also dropped.

Deadcoin.com has been busy listing all the crypto scams, jokes and abandoned projects and the list has now hit 800 cryptocurrencies, considered ‘dead’ - trading at less than 1 cent.

More... https://www.express.co.uk/finance/city/982632/Bitcoin-price-latest-ripple-cryptocurrency-news-ethereum-dead-list-BTC-to-USD-XRP-news

Those coins in the first place were never rivals because they were never in competition that aside, the list to me is not objective thereby being a benchmark of a dead project or abandoned because the compiler's subjectivism based on the way he sees things should also be put into consideration.

No doubt some project are outright scam courtesy the combined forces of those people who came to the crypto market to specifically scam supported by those who didn't bother to do their won research/due diligence before putting their money in whatever nicely designed project they felt appeal to them.
1374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LAUNCHING AN ICO BY JANUARY 2019 on: July 04, 2018, 06:22:19 AM
it is no doubt, talk about BITCOIN, ICO, AIRDROPS are the current and best investment plan, well only if you deal with the right trustworthy ICO, I have a dream to start the first ICO coy that reaches out in aim for every black child out there on the street, HUNGRY! BITCOIN is a continuous ledger blessing only to expatriate like us who is ready to devote all our man power, intellectuals and mentor on board, to ensure that we all have the best success story to tell in the history of ICO enriching lives.

Stay tuned for the latest updates, and you can message to join our telegraph group, thank you.

PLEASE ALL COMMENTS AND ADVICE WOULD BE WELCOMED. PLLLLLLEASE!

The bolded part of your post is what interest me because that part nullifies whatever objective you set to achieve. Do you even know the number of every black child on the street? What's your definition of being on the street because any child on the street didn't fall from heaven or space. Its as a result of the failure of their parents who felt they needed to procreate without making provision for their wards. How do you hope to salvage that situation. Again, a lot it those who are on the street as you claimed chose to be there not because they don't have any other option, but that's what they choose to do, how do you take them out of the street. To me this your objective is vague.

Empowerment is key and that should be focus on the child because a child cannot work to fend for himself there solely dependent on the giver. But with empowerment to youths, they can fend for themselves, contribute to the society and make the street cleaner of children.
1375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thailand Legalize Crypto currency on: July 03, 2018, 09:33:15 PM
While there are several nations which are passing laws against crypto world.  Thailand has entered the list of the nations which have legalized crypto currency.  Thailand is mainly dependent on tourism industry.  So I think it is wise decision on t he part of a country where major source of income is from tourism.  So it will attract more tourists to this country.
It will benefit a lot to the country and is healthy signal for the health of Bitcoin family.

It would have been better if the source of this information is included to aid  understanding of what is being discussed here. Its not enough to just continue to rejoice over the legality of bitcoin without considering all of the implicit cost associated with such decision. I don't expect any country to legalise bitcoin or crypto as the case maybe by giving it a blanket freedom without attaching some conditions to protect itself and its economy because when people realizes that, they tend to abuse the process that would then defeat the very reason why such policy was put in place in the first place. Those controls put in place to curb all of the excesses are the ones I would be most likely interested in and not the news on its face value.
1376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The " I told you so " people are working on my tits! on: July 03, 2018, 09:26:52 PM
I cannot count on my fingers how many times people, who are not even invested in Bitcoin, told me that I should have sold my

bitcoins when the price was at $19,000+.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  Do you also get those "knowITall" finger pointers, telling you what to do

with your money/bitcoins? I never tell them what to invest in and when to pull those investments, but now that the price has

dropped, suddenly everyone has an opinion. {Couch investors}

If I listened to them when the price dropped from $1000 to $300 a few years ago, I would not have made more than

800% profits on the coins that I did sell last year.  Roll Eyes  Just take this little bit of advice today, DO NOT listen to those

couch investors.... they are too scared to take risks, but their mouths are the biggest when the price goes down.

Keep your advice, I already achieved a lot, by following my own advice.  Wink

If only we had listen to people who are just out to be pessimistic, I wonder if anyone would have one satoshi in wallet because it would have been sold. The funny thing is that, they are not advising you to sell because they love you but because they want you and them to be on the same page since they know when you keep holding chances are high that you would become richer should in the near future.

The "I told you so crew" are almost every where you turn to. The worst of it is on the forum where you expect to see some comfort its the opposite that is being propagated. It really takes the strong hearted to navigate against all of the negativities and hoping the tides will turn very soon.
1377  Economy / Marketplace / Re: List of companies that will ban your account if they know you're mess with BTC. on: July 03, 2018, 10:28:50 AM
How do you guys manage to circumvent twitter from banning your bitcoin content. I have had a hard time posting crypto related content, the worst is opening an account with a crypto related username!

I don't know how you do it because I have a crypto related account on Twitter but I don't have any issue that I have even participated in bounties posting contents with several hagtags related to crypto, promoting ICOs through retweeting and all of such. I think you really need to check your activities maybe the ones you participate in are much enough and the frequency of posting is equally short to have attracted what ever bot they coded to suspend all of such accounts. I believe suspension is not banning just ensure you watch it when you are out of the net.

I guess mailchimp is also doing this, banning/suspends accounts if the content you're sending is related to cryptocurrency or bitcoin coz I used there service before for free for 2000 limited emails to be sent for the newsletter of my site (https://bl4nkcode.info) but when I reached it over, I topup to continue their service then they suspend my account, saying that I break some of their terms about crypto which they never told me, didnt receive any notifications, emails about it when I used them in sending those limited email for free.

But twitter? I have several twitter accounts, also running small business but I can still use it.

Even though its out-rightly wrong for a service provider to just deny one access without adequate notification morally, but they are covered by their Terms and Conditions which you have accepted before allowed entrance on their platform that they don't owe you any notification to get to the point of deactivating your account should in case you have violated any of their Terms. The best is to move on.
1378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fundstrat’s Robert Slyumer: Bitcoin Must Rally Through $6,300 on: July 03, 2018, 08:09:04 AM
All of these predictions to me are bound to fail as I see it as a form of wave of the moment expression of opinion without any basis but because of the importance that has been attached to some people in crypto by virtue of the position they occupy in the industry either as entrepreneurs, developers, or business owners they are meant to always be in the news to showcase their oratory and analytical skills in other to continue to be relevant in the media. The market is not developed enough for its behavior to be restricted to maps, graphs and historical analysis. A decision somewhere in the remotest part of the world could nullify the whole prediction at the same time someone who just realized he could make money can decide to dump 100 btcs while others will follow him. They should just keep their predictions to themselves and allow the market be the determining factor of what price will be.
1379  Economy / Speculation / Re: Facebook will make its own digital currency on: July 03, 2018, 06:10:19 AM
Deploying blockchain application into their operation, yes that is possible as they have been mumbling this for long which I believe necessitated their review of the ban on crypto related sites by adding some conditions which I believe contributed to the improvement seen in price in the past couple of days.

But having their own crypto currency is what I am not sure they have the strength for. Is it not the sane Facebook whose services are prohibited from certain countries, even companies have been able to restrict their internet from accessing, or Mark that can be summoned by the Senate any time they so wish, he had better focus on a form of loyalty program and focus on his AI development rather looking for problems willingly.
1380  Economy / Economics / Re: Why lot of countries do not allow to use Crpto? on: July 03, 2018, 05:41:36 AM
Lot of countries do not allow to use crypto currencies and they discourage using them. However as far as I feel, trading with crypto is not that harmful for the economy of the country. As an example, if a person has Eth and someone from another country needs to buy Eth, that buyer needs to pay the seller in terms of dollars. Then that seller needs to convert that Dollars to his native currency which means it creates a the demand for the native currency and increase the value of the currency. May be the government is unable to add a tax on such transactions but it is beneficial for the currency used in seller's country.
What do you think about that?

The scenario you painted is so simple and straight forward which would even develop the economy because of the foreign inflows but they also know this but the real issue with government antagonism to the freehand of bitcoin and crypto currency is what I summarized into two:

1. To have their own cut which is not possible. For example I had read where socialist government charge as high as 50% in fees if you are receiving money from foreign countries. And really government is not after the young chap earning some little change but for the collective number of young chaps spread across the country like that and would earn decent income with government not being able generate revenue.

2. In addition to the above, in other liberal climes, the government is really not after young guys earning morning via internet sitting in front of the computer after all they cannot provide jobs for everybody and they would be avoiding some social unrest by allowing that but the problem in those climes are the rich who sees crypto as a way to hide their resources from the reach of government which the government won't take lightly.
