1721  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Question about sending profit to other bank account on: April 18, 2018, 07:08:07 PM
I came into contact with someone who claims that they are a group of people who do day trading in the Netherlands, by depositing their profits into accounts in Belgium (after which they then demand that the person with the Belgian account transfers a part to their own account). They therefore do not have to pay 52% extra on their profits. (That is what that person claimed, I do not know if this is correct).

That person claimed that I could then hold 30% for myself. Is this too trustworthy and can not I get problems with my bank? What do you think about that?

At first sight I do not think that they can do much wrong with only my bank account number but you never know.

Thanks in advance,

Joris

When something sounds too good to be true, its probably a lie which is what is happening in this case. Reading through, I see this as a case of money laundering hiding under crypto and the question you need to ask is why can't you transfer the income to them using crypto rather than it going through your bank.

If you are blinded by the percentage profit, you are exposing yourself to huge amount of litigation and even jail term if they are caught in what they are doing which is surely not legit. Your bank account means you can be tracked and traced if need be. I would suggest you find another way to make money because this sound too good to be true.
1722  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit system and levelling up to Member on: April 18, 2018, 07:10:58 AM
You are right to certain extent but at the same time, the reason why you are not totally correct is because even though you seem not to understand how its being done, merit still exchange accounts and people are ranking up gradually the reason why its not happening to you, I don't know but its time to start doing things differently. Having looked at your posts history, I discover certain things

1. Your posts are predominantly in the local section from the ones I have checked. How do you expect that I give merit to something I don't understand and using Google won't do any better.

2. Most of your posts recent posts are 2 liners and 3 liners, I just pass by because it does not get my attention in other to read not to talk of parting away with merit.

3. Try contribute on topics you have knowledge about and express yourself. For example if you an accountant or some tax professional, on topics such as "what is the tax implication of bitcoin" here you would surely have more than average knowledge than others. Make your knowledge known then express it. When you do all of this and the merit is not coming or not coming enough, then:

4. You can post on threads of those willing to share merit for quality posts and someone would surely appreciate the knowledge you have passed across.
1723  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency Scammers Are Making Fortunes By Ripping Off 'Greedy' Investors on: April 17, 2018, 11:49:14 AM
Greed is what is often targeted by the scammers. Take bitconnect for example, it was an obvious ponzi scheme but people still fell for it because they believed that they would make millions in such a little time. If you don't want to get scammed, don't be greedy.

Greed is a key thing and this case is one that you even see Legendary members blinded by greed defending why its the best thing and get scammed what you then see, is them creating a thread as a newbie because they are ashamed of their decisions. For this category of people, they don't deserve my pity as they brought whatever happen upon themselves just for some dollars.

Firstly, I think scammers are damaging cryptocurrency.. because their actions will bring stiff regulations and we can't really predict what that will do to cryptocurrency..

And for the greedy investors, they don't do due diligence for projects they want to invest in and tend to ignore warning signals and red flags that clearly seem as scam in their bid to 'lambo' very fast..

While huge scamming is being facilitated by greed several others are victims ignorantly and that is casing more harm than we can imagine to the entire crypto space to the extent that when people liken bitcoin to scam, they would be right. Not knowing people are only hiding under that to facilitate their nefarious activities. I would blame those who create the platforms to scam because even people who are greedy won't fall victim when there is no platform to try their lucks.
1724  Economy / Economics / Re: Chinese Spies Engaged in Massive Theft of U.S. Technology on: April 17, 2018, 10:55:27 AM
Since the beginning of time, countries have been spying on each other yet they would stand on podiums and sign treaties, set up committees, smile for the camera yet the downfall of the other country is their primary objective which they continue to pursue rigorously. The most important annoying thing is that the moment one spy is caught or defect, the home country is quick to disown, agent commit suicide or even go on an assassination spree in other to keep him or her silent. This is not even a new thing. Its even safe to say that no country is even inventing anything what they do is to copy from several other countries to make theirs stronger and all of them are guilty of this.
1725  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Which country to Immigrate for making fortune in crypto currency on: April 17, 2018, 06:45:19 AM
Any country you chose to migrate to, its a matter of time before they come to terms about regulation but the advantage is one might have establish a base and done with crypto currency before they realise and start the cracking down. For me, I would choose any African country that has some level of stability if coming from European country though because over there they tend to be more receptive to Whites and the process of validation and immigration is not that hard all you need to do is take care of immigration issues and stay out of trouble.

Personally, I wouldn't consider moving out of the country because I want to enjoy wealth because what is the point of wealth if you will only get to enjoy it with strangers who can leave you anytime the wealth has dwindled down but in the company of the family and the community. I would find a way to fund a project unconnected to crypto then live life.
1726  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Why did RBI ban cryptocurrency? on: April 16, 2018, 05:24:47 AM
Hello Friend

Any one know what's the reality behine RBI ban cryptocurrency?

Read more: Why did RBI ban cryptocurrency?

The reason why they ban crypto currency is nothing other than generic in the sense that its something we all know which is used for illegal activities, funding terrorists, money laundering, unable to track etc. But unfortunately, they decide to focus on the negatives over the positives.

While there is nothing to be done to reverse the decision that has been taken already, what should be the focus is post ban activities. They cannot stop bitcoin but for me if I found myself in that situation, the best thing to do is to stay away for a while because government and its agent would be very aggressive at the beginning in other to send a strong message to the entire community that they meant business but after that, it subsidies when activities could resume on a low scale.
1727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: April 14, 2018, 01:05:56 PM
so why is most of these prediction based on countries in europe?

Did you can see what happened in the last quarter final CL Barca vs Rome  and Real madrid vs Juve?

Both two spanish giant almost got eliminate by these two other italian team!
Sadly, the referee had to apply football politic's in the match against juve in order not to loose the number's of fan's who will be helding to watch the final competition.

To them semifinal and final competition's will be non-profitable biz without these two team.

So, my prediction goes to any country in Africa. Probably Nigerian's because they are having one of the young/fast growing soccer team in Africa.

Thanks

This is one hell of a prediction that I see no practicability of it coming into reality because no African country has enough preparation to lift the cup. While its no doubt that there is need for some human activity to ensure that either Real Madrid or Barcelona moves to the semifinals which then transcends to the final because of the amount of population either of the two teams would take along, no African country commands such respect in the world football tournament. The highest they could be assisted to would be say Quarterfinals or the semis while all efforts would be focused on the football giants if they can make it that far such as Spain, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Germany etc.
1728  Other / Meta / Re: HI THEYMOS Why a small group of DT Members & Mods are trying 2 protect Scammers? on: April 14, 2018, 09:52:51 AM
I'm disappointed that aTriz chose to go the route he did, and to call a lie a "marketing strategy" is bending the truth past the breaking point.

I'm disappointed because I think he's an excellent campaign manager and an agreeable gentleman as well, and that's a rare combination on bitcointalk.  The interaction I've had with him thus far has been positive.  I do hope he realizes the error here and doesn't let greed cloud his judgement henceforth.

I'm going to change my positive to a neutral, and I'm hoping for some recognition of the problem on his part--the refund is a positive step.  We'll see where this goes.

To say disappointment would be an understatement and I expected him to have handled it better. The statement that after two weeks he is being forced to go along just ended the whole thing. Two weeks is early and right time to pull out without even damaging your reputation (it might take a hit but would survive). And now, he not only affect himself but even those who are close to him which is what some people have been looking for as an opportunity to launch an attack.
1729  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-04-12] Research Paper Declares Bitcoin Compliant With Shariah Law on: April 14, 2018, 06:28:10 AM
Great news for the Muslim crypto users. The Shariah Law is very strict and even though it may be traditional and old, the Muslim still follow it even to this very day. I'm not so familiar with it but I have even heard that there is a penalty for those who steal, which is a violation of the Shariah Law, will have their hands chopped. So as you see, it's important to determine for the muslim whether a matter is compliant to their Shariah Law or not otherwise they may violate their law and/or religion.

Whether its good news or not, its only the liberal minded would see this as a justification for supporting bitcoin for those who are already involved while the others confirms this as authorisation to get into the game but only the liberal minded because as this article have some quotes to rely upon to support bitcoin, so also are some writings relying on the Qur'an to go against it.

This is something I have been waiting for though because I have seen people argue about bitcoin anti Islam which is still hard to believe that something that was created less than 10 years ago would be against a book written thousands of years back which makes it just a matter of interpretation of what is in the Book.
1730  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-04-13] Latvia Recognizes Cryptocurrencies in Order to Tax Them on: April 13, 2018, 08:28:57 PM
Trying to take its share of the profits, the government of Latvia may accept cryptocurrencies as a legal means of exchange. This year’s tax filing campaign is underway and officials don’t have much time. Two parliamentary commissions and the Ministry of Finance have expressed their views on the matter this week. Latvians may very soon owe the state tax on their gains from crypto transactions.

Cryptocurrencies Deemed Dangerous but Taxable

According to the Latvian Finance Ministry, 20% tax can be imposed on capital gains from deals with cryptocurrencies. Its representatives announced the proposal during a meeting with deputies from the Parliamentary Budget and Taxation Committee on Wednesday.

Read more: https://news.bitcoin.com/latvia-recognizes-cryptocurrencies-in-order-to-tax-them/

Even though this is a confirmation of the view that I always hold that the issue about most government deciding whether bitcoin is legal or not is because they are not sure of how to take their own cut. A country like this I would say is the smart move. All over the world, government will continue to take noise about dwindling revenue and the continuous increase in the demand for social amenities by the populace and for a country that does not have the technical know how to stop the spread of crypto currency and the cost of getting that technology would eat deep into the already depleted resources, why not make the best out of it by making it a win-win situation

Users of crypto currency would pay tax so far it does not kill initiatives and not damming, while government gets its own cut in terms of new source of revenue without any cost such as signing a treaty, letting go of some sovereignty in disguise of aids and everybody is happy.
1731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Government Bigger Than "Decentralized" Cryptocurrency? on: April 13, 2018, 05:51:35 PM
The direct answer will be "NO" but giving it a second thought considering the recent "hammer dropdown" will create an impression that government is really winning the fight.

The price of Crypto has been dropping due to government dropping "an heavy hand" and interference in the crypto world then followed by the biggest social media like Google, Facebook, Twitter.

That's sad...

Will they succeed?

What are your thought?

Government today no doubt possesses some high level of imaginable powers that can make anything go away if they so wish but this power is not absolute as they have to justify the use of this power. The simple truth is that all of this powers were given to them by the people or assumed to be given to them by the people and only the giver of such powers can actually retract such powers. Today we have seen excesses of government but because they have been able to influence some people and make them see things in their own way it makes it difficult to call such to questioning.

On the issue of decentralization, concluding that they would lose or win would be to the extreme which is not right but my thought for or against would be on one condition which is if the majority of the people allows them.
1732  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitfinex locked my 500 BTC account and is asking for police report on: April 13, 2018, 08:54:17 AM
The simple truth is that you are now at their mercy and there is no amount of suggestions and recommendations that can change that position unless you do what is required of you. If you have been able to verify your account, then every other thing required should not be a problem but I doubt you not parting away with huge amount of money if you want to follow through. My advice is to get a lawyer who will then liaise with every party involved both the police and bitfinex to get your funds out.

Truth be told, your conduct has fallen below expectation because to have that amount of btc means you have been involved for a quite a while and that means some level of knowledge on not keeping such funds with a third party and not because of hack that might happen alone but because of policy changes like this which you have fallen victim of. Having an hardware wallet of less than a $1000 would have saved all of this trouble.
1733  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Pakistan Central Bank Bans Banks from Cryptocurrency, ICO Transactions on: April 12, 2018, 09:00:59 PM
Pakistan’s central bank has told banks and other financial services providers not to support virtual currency transactions. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) advised the general public in a statement on its website and in a tweet that it regulates both domestic and international payment and money transfer services.

Pakistan’s announcement on Friday follows one by India’s central bank from having any links to virtual currency dealers, which immediately slashed cryptocurrency prices on local exchanges.

Source: https://www.ccn.com/pakistan-central-bank-bans-banks-from-cryptocurrency-ico-transactions/

All the bans being dished out here and there, I wonder if its really affecting anything because the bans is just coming out, price takes the hit at one point, then rebounds in a matter of time which makes room for another round of ban but this time followed by the use of force. Little did they know that the more they out of this bans, the more they create another market to grow under the radar. Rather than having to send money to exchange sites bank account, like minded individuals would just create market place on various media such as WhatsApp, telegram, forums, groups and would transfer to fund to each other instead without raising any concern to the authority.
1734  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: ECB Official Calls for Tax on Bitcoin Transactions on: April 12, 2018, 07:44:09 PM
Bitcoin should be regulated and even taxed, according to a European Central Bank (ECB) governing council member.

Ewald Nowotny, head of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, Austria's central bank, said in an interview with German paper Sueddeutsche Zeitung that anyone who participates in a financial transaction should be clearly identified, on top of paying value-added tax (VAT).

Source: https://www.coindesk.com/ecb-official-calls-for-tax-on-bitcoin-transactions/

There is absolutely nothing wrong about this and it should be supported by everyone who wants a better society with good infrastructure and amenities. For people on the street sweeping, to the guy in the shop selling down to the person clearing snow from the walkway to be charge tax, there is nothing wrong for someone who sits behind the computer or his smart phone to make money not to pay tax and if higher than normal, its all good.

However, such tax should be fair to all parties involved because only that would force voluntary compliance and not the ones we seen around where the tax applied is a form of "punishment in disguise" for holding crypto currency that is something that would invalidate every form of regulation that they are hoping to implement.
1735  Economy / Economics / Re: market refresh or just a pump ? on: April 12, 2018, 06:49:16 PM
Hi today market goes green
as you can see in 1 houre perfomance everything changed is it the comeback or just a pump ? what you think about it what is going on ?

The fact is whatever we all think does not matter in the current price phenomenon because if all of our thinking is what determine the price, it would have climbed higher to say $50,000. Its by action. The whole of the noise about it getting green I have been seeing is because we have gotten accustomed to the $6000+ to have seen a $1000 increase as a green to be joyous about. For someone who bought when the price was $10,000 I am sure this is just a normal movement that shows some home and not a green to him. Let's all ride along and stop the thinking.
1736  Economy / Economics / Re: Factor to Consider on: April 12, 2018, 07:35:27 AM
What are the factor to consider that would affect the price changes or price elasticity of the Bitcoin? This is what I have read:

1. Bitcoin supply and increasing/decreasing demand
2. Bitcoin in news: Influence of media on garnering negative and positive publicity
3.Bitcoin users and developers influence the rise and fall of price.
4.New technological changes to Bitcoin

For discussion for the above mentioned. You can check this link: https://hackernoon.com/factors-influencing-bitcoin-price-cfabdf634894

How about you? can you add more factor that can affect the price of the bitcoin? Comment below.

All of the factors enumerated above are very much valid but another much more valid factor is the invisible forces which I would hold are the most important because all of those things you listed there are the consequences of some powers behind the scene scheming for or against bitcoin and because of the amount of funds they have access to and resources they have as tools, they can make anything possible.
For new technological changes, which could prove so important in the push is also at the mercy of people who want it to succeed. SegWit has been purportedly said would increase price during the days of high transaction fees but with its use now, transaction fees has reduced but price has been on the low trend.
1737  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for buyers for my crypto currency startup. on: April 11, 2018, 07:49:04 AM
Hello Everyone,

My partner and I have started a new startup related to cryptocurrency.

What we are proposing is

  • A Fully working product written in Ruby/VueJS (running on testnets)
  • 100 000+ members
  • 7 000+ Twitter following
  • 13 000+ Telegram

Why are we selling? We don't have enough money to pay for proper marketing, getting the right names associated with it etc.

If you have connections and money this could be a gold mine.

I can provide full details via PM.

Don't contact me for less than 6 figures.

Cheers

Based on what is written here, it might be difficult trying to get someone to commit that amount of money on a project that is on Testnet which means there is room for bugs to be found and when you sell to an average businessman with little or no technical know how, that would amount to extra cost in getting the right individual with the technical expertise to work on it which we both know might not be that easy considering the uniqueness every developer add to every of their designs.

My suggestion rather than selling outrightly, why not ask for funding via seed funding or venture capitalist with that you retain your position as the technical officer, ready to provide the support as you have the right amount of knowledge and you equally get to be a sharer of the long time gold mine of this project as you have believed in it. But be ready to part with some amount of percentage in terms of profit.
1738  Economy / Services / Re: DEV REQUIRED: Relaunching a Dying Coin on: April 10, 2018, 11:20:57 PM
Can you share the shortlist of coins?

If he should share this, it then mean that he has disclose the particular coin because by the time elimination started applying on the coins listed, it won't be long before someone finds out which coin they are planning to develop and it simply means creation wealth for someone else. @Op you need to also be careful in disclosing to all of the intending developers because some people would indicate their interest in other to get the information then act on it to rip off the market because based on the little information you have disclosed the getting hands on the particular coin before being made public is nothing short of Inside Information.
1739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which side of the coin are you on? $1000 or $30000. Lets have a discussion. on: April 10, 2018, 08:16:21 AM
Bears are saying Bitcoin is headed to $1000.00 and then the Bitcoin craze will die and we will all be moving on to the next thing. The Bulls say Bitcoin isnt even close to its fullest potential and could be $30,000.00 per coin by years end.

With less than 1% of the population dabbling in Bitcoin, does the value seem too high, too low, or just right to you?

Google is about $1000.00 per share with about 30% of the population using it. What if 30% of the population starts using Bitcoin? How likely is that, and what will that do to the value of Bitcoin?

Which side of the coin are you on?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/panosmourdoukoutas/2018/04/08/wheres-bitcoin-price-heading-next-1k-or-30k/#32ce51232029

Lets have a discussion.

I see this as picking sides during an election but what determines which side wins would be the total number if votes cast during the election process. Just like now where a whole lot of people are picking side some even went to stay in the middle ( which can be regarded as independent candidates). The fact remains that no matter much we all wanted whether to go to the $30,000 or the $1000, it needs to be backed by action.

You cannot chose the $30000 angle and continue to do day trading by not contributing your little quota not to flood the market that is already flooded which is driving the price down the more so also the people for the other extreme, you need to do the opposite of what I said earlier and the victory goes to the most diligent part.
1740  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary profiles of bitcointalk. on: April 09, 2018, 02:51:04 PM
This is a great list !

I would like to suggest an addition to this legendary list :

The 10,000 Bitcoins for 2 Pizza's original post  | Link : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137.0

I'm not sure if I will call him fool or legend or both.

Fool to spend 10,000 BTC for two pizza
Legend for using BTC as currency at that time when only very few people believed in BTC.

I am having another thought...

Shall I call the guy Legend or the person who accepted 10,000 BTC when people did not believe in bitcoin. He actually took the risk.

Several times I have seen people castigate those who made this decision and how foolish they are but the truth is a whole lot of us would probably do the same thing if we are in their position at the time. Today we use bitcoin say .01 btc to buy say cloths but if bitcoin increased to say $50000 later in the future, wouldn't we be close to those people?

One thing they have done is being part of history and that is why they are being talked about today even after several years the decision has been taken and forgotten. What exactly are we also doing to be part of history today because today's actions are history for tomorrow.
