1421  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin had a stable price, would it still be as popular? on: April 11, 2017, 12:40:36 PM
Let's get this straight – people use bitcoin because it is money. One single coin that is worth more than  USD$1000 sure to get attention. With the price getting higher, old miners are tempted to return to bitcoin mining again, because it is worth it. Price is all that people care about – not the technical ones, though.
1422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No matter how much we love BTC, confirmations take way too long! on: April 11, 2017, 12:31:31 PM
Yes and it is getting nasty paying way too much. Thought I could at least save money in using it but there is the problem of paying expensively and waiting for too long. Western Union will win against bitcoin if this continues.
What you have said above is true, bitcoin can be annoying depending on the circumstances. But Western Union is not that good either – it charges more for the transactions, especially if you are the sender; they have a disclaimer that makes the company liable if the recipient fails to get the goods or get them in bad shape; it's also a very good way for scammers to get funded since an identification card and a custom transaction is all that's necessary for one to claim  money.
1423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: if someday the network internet totally dead . on: April 11, 2017, 01:24:39 AM
i think the best is to transact with cash,internet should not be a problem in transacting business.
If the Internet network is paralyzed – which happens rarely, though not the whole world experiences it – not only will bitcoin suffer, but also any and every payment method will be paralyzed except physical transactions (i.e., cash). They all depend on the internet presence, and that's why they are called Online Payment Processors.

Bump.
1426  Economy / Economics / Re: books about economy on: April 09, 2017, 10:21:01 PM
I would recommend one of these books to read as they are related to the global economy (they gave me an overall understanding of the international economy) – these books are highly rated and sold on Amazon.com as well:

1. Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins;
https://ia800301.us.archive.org/29/items/ConfessionsOfAnEconomicHitman_257/JohnPerkins-ConfessionsOfAnEconomicHitman.pdf

2. The Death of Money by James Rickards;
http://www.riosmauricio.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Rickards_The-Death-of-Money.pdf

3. The Road to Serfdom by Friedrich A. Hayek;
http://cnqzu.com/library/Philosophy/neoreaction/Friedrich%20August%20Hayek/Friedrich_Hayek%20-%20The_road_to_serfdom.pdf

4. The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith.

1427  Economy / Services / Re: I pay you to get me these books on: April 09, 2017, 09:01:41 PM
I have tried to search for the other books with no luck. The books are highly industrial ones, and you will find that few people are really interested in such books, hence, it's hard to get a free copy. They are paid, and in highly prices, too.
1428  Economy / Services / Re: Transcribing Handwritten Documents on: April 09, 2017, 08:55:56 PM
Hey, OP. Why don't you offer your services on Fiverr, Gigs, UpWork, or Freelance? They got plenty of transcription work to do and less competition – like UpWork, for example. Unless you want to be paid in Bitcoin, those sites will provide you a lot of work.

1430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Even more proof that market wants segwit on: April 09, 2017, 02:56:18 PM
Rejecting Bitcoin Unlimited doesn't necessarily mean accepting Segregated Witness. I know Jihan and Wung are dickheads, but the market doesn't need SegWit, it needs a solution for the scaling problem, and SegWit has its flaws as well – it's not the perfect solution.
1431  Economy / Lending / Re: Bitcoin Loan 10 BTC on: April 09, 2017, 02:10:38 PM
1. This is posted in the wrong thread/board.
2. 10 BTC? Are you serious? At least show a collateral that worth that huge amount of money – people are skeptical of people who ask for more than 0.1 BTC, and you are asking for 10 with a brand new account, that doesn't seem good at all.
3. What guarantee that you will pay, seriously?
1432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / So do you still support BU? on: April 09, 2017, 01:19:51 PM
After the Bitmain's ASICBOOST exploit that Jihan Wu used to get an additional 30% (more or less) efficiency for his mining hardware, and the real reason behind Bitmain's attempts to block implementing SegWit has been exposed, do you still support BU after all? If so, why?
1433  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Weird bitcoin address showing up! on: April 08, 2017, 04:00:58 PM
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I have managed to solve this using eset antivirus software, and it seems to have wiped out the Malware/Trojan. Everything is good now.

Can these really be installed from jpeg or other non exe file?
I don't think so. Most of the Malwares/Trojans come from .exe files. The one that was infected was an .exe file that I don't know where it came from.
1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: if bitcoin dies, what alt would you go for? on: April 08, 2017, 02:04:06 AM
For me it's either XMR or LTC. I am a bit attracted to Litecoin since it's bitcoin in disguise, and it would do the job.

1436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have u ever received BTC accidentally or randomly? on: April 07, 2017, 05:31:50 PM
It happened to me once – I was just opening my wallet when I suddenly saw around 10K–20K satoshi payments arrived in patches at my address up to 0.002BTC. I was going to send them back to the address that sent them to me, but my wallet had gone crazy about the fees due to the huge input data size (it required 0.00126BTC to transfer the 0.002BTC  Tongue). I couldn't use it, nor send it back. I changed the wallet because of that.

1438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Clarification question, bitcoin network hashrate, comparison to supercomputers on: April 06, 2017, 01:24:00 PM
Actually your calculations are quite true. According to bitcoinwatch's 2013 report, the Bitcoin Network is more powerful than the world's top 500 supercomputers combined, and that's because Bitcoin is a massive computing network.
1439  Other / Off-topic / Re: English writing mistakes you might be doing! on: April 06, 2017, 12:59:17 PM
If the author of this thread wants to defeat ignorance it is proposed to organize courses of English language tuition on Skype for example. The error indicators will not make sense without training. Practice is the communication forum.
I don't want to defeat ignorance, because these mistakes aren't made out of ignorance, they are made unintentionally. There are a lot of these "tutoring/training" courses, especially for English, do you see them help any?

an error made more by native speakers is write loose instead of lose

why?

To be honest, I don't know why they make such mistakes. However, I guess it's because of sound. The 'o' letter in 'Lose' is pronounced a long o (oo), thus people mistake it for 'loose'. And the problem is: it's hard to change their mind.

almost all your mistakes are easily corrected with a spell checker, like most browsers already have if your OS is in english

and the a/an rule is confusing

is a strategy or an strategy correct?
Not all are corrected by a spell checker – logical mistakes like it's and its, or your and you're would seem correctly written for a spell checker, therefore, they are the commonly mistaken ones even if one is using a spell checker. By the way, all languages, nationalities, and countries are written with an initial uppercase letter, hence, it should be English.

Can you tell me why it is confusing?
You should approach it like this:
Word: Strategy.
First/initial letter: S, hence, a consonant letter.
Article: a

This should take less than a second in your mind to write.
