1441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it a sin to gamble? on: April 05, 2017, 09:55:25 PM
If gambling is not a sin, why do they call Las Vegas the Sin City? Considering Las Vegas holds the largest number of Casinos located in a single city.

It is not that gambling is a sin, and calling a City, into a Sin City has its own reason, Sin City is an urban that caters to various vices, various means there are many things that is going out there and not just gambling is the reason why it is called the Sin City, the vices are, sex related services, including prostitution and strip clubs, Gambling, Drugs, and excessive organize crime and gangs activity. There are a lot of Sin Cities in the world and not all of them, includes gambling on it, that is why it is not really a sin to gamble. Excessive gambling activity is really not good to a ckuntry and it's  people.
I know, they call them Sin Cities because you can't just get out without doing a single sin – according to the Bible (the temptations, which those cities have, that almost no one can resist). So aren't all these vices considered sins? Or Gambling is excluded?

1443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scaling: Looks like all roads lead to LTC on: April 05, 2017, 09:14:26 PM
This is not a solution to the problem – we are simply running away instead of facing it. We can't just go to Litecoin  because we are unable to solve our Bitcoin scaling problem. Besides, Litecoin is not a solution either. If we replaced Litecoin with Bitcoin (which is a clone of it), we will have the same scaling problem we are having right now when number of transactions rises up.
1444  Other / Off-topic / Re: English writing mistakes you might be doing! on: April 04, 2017, 11:17:55 AM
I wasn't a native english speaker, but I been speaking it for 20 years now and I still make many of these mistakes on the list. Good stuff.
Glad I could help.

Another error which is quite common is the difference between it’s and its.
It's on the list – number 26.

Because some of the members here, their native language is not english, and I do believe some of the user out there use google translate in their post.

Again, if they are using Google Translate, they won't make spelling mistakes, they would make non-logical sentences that make no sense. Besides, Google Translate is getting stronger and smarter nowadays, I give them that.

I can't believe your and you're are number 69! It's #1 in my books. Everyone gets it wrong and I have no idea why.

Another one to add to the list, if I didn't just miss it, would be advice vs. advise.

You cannot advice me on what I should do, but you certainly can advise me Wink. In other words, you could give me some advice!

I've also seen vary and very used incorrectly but definitely not as often.

Anyways thanx four the kool lessons you gived us hear. I seen them all over two and I cant stand them. Your a good guy and I hope you recieve alot of great feedback.
List updated, thanks.
I know you and your are mistakes that I personally see from native speakers very often, but it's number 69 (now it's 70  Tongue) due to the alphabetical order. That last part is hilarious, though   Cheesy

couple of days ago, google translate changed my a lot to alot  Shocked
There is Indian town named Alot, so if you put the uppercase it might be because of that.
I didn't know that, thanks for sharing it.

My native language is Polish (slavic) so all the "a/an" and "the" rules are just a nightmare for me because it is completely new idea, not present in any slavic language. In slavic languages we just write nouns without any articles.
It's the same as Russian. I know your feeling though – it's exactly what I feel about German's Der/Das/Die, and Spanish's el/la un/una.

With Ukrainian and Polish, too much in common, but English is really a problem. But I believe that the main thing is that we understand each other. When explaining a good conversation.
True. When having a chat with English native speakers, they don't care if you speak English fluently or not as long as you can understand each other.
1447  Other / Off-topic / Re: English writing mistakes you might be doing! on: March 31, 2017, 03:43:49 PM
Thanks a lot for your time and effort learned a lot in this post.
No problem, mate.
The post is nice but will not help. A lot of people on the forum are not from English-speaking countries. Many use online translators. Want to help open online learning.
I have never used an online translator before, but I know what it is. If people are using it, and are still making such spelling mistakes, then it would be embarrassing. Online translators would make non–logical sentences (i.e., just English words tied together in a sentence that doesn't make any sense), not spelling mistakes. There is a browser add–on to help with Grammar (and English overall) called Grammarly, I'd recommend people to use it, if they are too lazy to learn.

If they are using online translators they wont make spelling mistakes which are subject of this topic.
Exactly.
1448  Other / Beginners & Help / Weird bitcoin address showing up! on: March 31, 2017, 01:21:57 AM
I have a weird problem that happened to me 4 times so far (and it still continues to happen) – every time I try to copy–paste my bitcoin address, either from the forum, or onto, I end up getting another address, which has the same 3 initial characters that my bitcoin address has. The weird about this is that it didn't happen until I started using Coinbase online wallet, and it happens only on this forum. (I used to copy–paste my desktop wallet address without any problem.)

So does anyone have a rational explanation for this, if not a solution?

1450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum classic vs Ethereum on: March 31, 2017, 01:08:24 AM
I think they are just like Litecoin vs. Bitcoin – the first is a copy–paste of the second, it doesn't bring up much to the table.
Here is a similar discussion that was issued in the past (maybe you can get some answers out of it): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1566381.0
1451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can someone explain this? on: March 31, 2017, 12:59:03 AM
I want to know the damned explanations for both of Segregated Witness (SegWit) and Bitcoin Unlimited (BU).
I need someone to enlighten me with the technical (heavy, if possible) details about both of them.

P.S. I cannot find anything about them that satisfies my mind technically on the Internet, just general definitions...
1452  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: In 2017, Is a $400 ASIC miner still profitable? on: March 31, 2017, 12:48:35 AM
Unless you have a dirty–cheap (free) electricity, I don't think it will be any profitable.
1453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal? on: March 31, 2017, 12:34:49 AM
Oh, PayPal is definitely a currency at this point. And pretty well accepted too. I've seen PayPal integration on every shopping cart I use online, at select fast food restaurants, some gas pumps. It's even an option at CoinStar.

And they are a bank as well. At least, they act like a bank, holding funds from consumers for non AML/KYC reasons.

PayPal is quite a popular payment option around the world, that's a fact, but that doesn't make PayPal a currency. PayPal is nothing more than a fiat related payment platform. And yes, they have a banking license that allows them to operate like a traditional bank, but that doesn't change anything from the fact that their main focus is still offering people a reliable payment platform.

Why sir, those are the specific qualities of a currency:

a system of money in general use in a particular country.
"the dollar was a strong currency"
synonyms:   money, legal tender, cash, banknotes, bills, notes, coins, coinage, specie
"foreign currency"
2.
the fact or quality of being generally accepted or in use.
"the term gained currency during the second half of the 20th century"
synonyms:   prevalence, circulation, exposure

Things dont have to be a fiat, to be a currency. Scrip works fine, as does specie. Hell, if the shit hits the fan, bullets will be the currency if the future Wink

I wasn't aware they went ahead and actually got a banking license.

 I will admit, PayPal is on my permanent shit list, we have beef, so to speak. Not my favorite company, so I'm a tad.. harsh.. concerning them. I'm toning it waaay down.
But you don't go to someone and say, "Hey, How much does it cost? 3 'PayPals'?
A currency is a generally accepted form of money used as a medium of exchange for goods and services. When you pay someone using PayPal, you don't send him 'PayPals', you send him fiat. PayPal can be considered the world's first payment processor/method/bank/company/whatever, but not a currency.
1454  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mistakes in trading that lead to loss of money on: March 30, 2017, 01:43:51 PM
Trading mistakes most people fall into:
  • Investing in crap, useless altcoins;
  • Getting emotionally attached to some coins (not necessarily a shit coin);
  • Panic buy, or panic sell;
  • Following retards' recommendations on exchange chat;
  • Buying at pumping peaks;
  • Trying to get on board after it's too late (i.e., seeing a coin pumping hard, trying to get a profit out of it, and ending up being a bag holder);
  • Being impatient (not good for trading, if you are a rush decider);
  • Being lazy – not doing any researches before investing;
  • Not knowing the perfect time to buy, and the perfect time to sell;
  • Being a bag holder – Hoping that a specific coin, you hold, will pump hard, which could take months, if ever;
  • Not trying to minimize losses;
  • Lastly, Greed.

It is very nice from your part to help other members that are not so good in English and to get writings on this forum on higher level.
I only thing that you need to change the subject of this topic to something more specifically, so when someone browsing through the topics could assume what the topic is about and to read it if is interesting to him/her.
Thanks for the suggestion.
You are welcome. Title is great now, just like the topic itself is  Wink

Man.. after looking through this, I can understand why people say english is one of the hardest language to learn. Good post
I don`t think that English is the hardest language to learn. There are lot more languages that are a lot more harder... like Chinese
Also, you can never forget what you had learned once, since English all around us... there are musics, movies, also most of tech equipment have English menu...
Thanks. And true! I think the best way to gain a strong command over a language is to contact with it all the time (i.e., Seeing Movies, hearing Music, reading books, and, of course, chatting with native speakers).
1456  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What does cryptocurrency money laundering means??? on: March 29, 2017, 09:02:25 PM
ok so if u didnt steel money... just invested it in bitcoin then traded for exmaple: monero or dash and sold it for a lot more is not considered money laundry? am i correct?
No, it is not considered money laundry. It's just an investing/trading action, but instead of investing/trading on Forex, for example, you invested/traded in digital currencies. Of course, if your money is hard-earned.
1457  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Just-Bit | Earn 120 Satoshi per minute on: March 29, 2017, 12:30:03 AM
So you are giving 120satoshi/minute just for staying on the site? No captchas to solve? No claiming button to click? Nothing?!
What is your purpose out of this?  Roll Eyes Seems too generous to be true.

but I would have to know the pronunciation of all words to apply the a/an rule Huh
Yes, and No. A word with an obvious consonant initial letter won't need pronunciation (Letters like 'b', 'c', 'd', 'f', 'g', 'j', 'l' (not 'i'), 'm', 'n', 'p', 'q', 'r', 's', 't', 'v', and 'z'). The words needed to be pronounced are the ones beginning with 'a', 'e', 'h', 'i', 'k', 'o', 'u', 'w', 'x', and 'y' (I know it's still much).

Very good post. But please consider most of us are not English native speakers.
Neither am I, mate.

Man.. after looking through this, I can understand why people say english is one of the hardest language to learn. Good post
English is hard because of the many exceptions it has, there is no rule to follow all the time.

Thanks, mate. I hope this helps.
1460  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Opportunity is here?? on: March 26, 2017, 11:19:18 PM
As we all are aware that the price of bitcoin is drastically going down so can we called this a trading opportunity.
What i was thinking is all the people who are currently holding bitcoin can convert it to any alt like maybe monero and let the price of bitcoin go more down and then buy when yiu think the price won't grow more.

well that is a bad advice.
lets say you convert your bitcoins to an altcoin there are multiple scenarios.
1- altcoin price remains the same. in this case you still have the same amount of bitcoin! so you end up only paying fees
2- altcoin price goes up. in this case you make profit, but the question is by how much. usually altcoins can get pumped high. right now most of them are being pumped anyways, in case of monero it went up nicely but in general monero has a pretty solid and stable price. so back to 1 in general.
3- altcoin price drops. and this happens more than you think. they get dumped real hard and you lose the little bitcoin you had before you go in.

also i find another big problem with this. you end up storing altcoins on the exchange because it is not possible in most cases to run the wallet for these altcoins and most don't have an SPV wallet either and that is a risky move.
These are pretty solid scenarios that I exactly ran through in my shitty experience with YoShit. I profited at first, then ended up with a list full of shitcoins that I couldn't sell or burn, and lost all my BTC to one shitcoin or another.
