1261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: which coin is best for tradding??? on: May 15, 2017, 11:26:20 PM
I am afraid that's a question that no one can answer (even those who think they did). There are no specific coins to trade. You do your own search, and you choose what coin to trade. That's how you will get experience. And don't take anyone's advice – they will troll you for their own benefits (or amusement).
1262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin becoming so god damn slow? on: May 15, 2017, 11:22:14 PM
Your transaction fees are still low (or moderate), the best, most reasonable fees for the transaction to be confirmed in 1-2 hours fall in the 220+ Satoshi/Byte section. This delay is due to the numerous transactions that the network isn't yet prepared to confirm. We have what we call 'Spam Transactions' which are meant to slow down the network for a specific reason. We also have the block limit (1MB), which can't confirm too many transaction (the size control the number of transactions being confirmed).
1263  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How to start mining in 2017 on: May 15, 2017, 09:46:49 PM
You haven't found answers for your questions on the mining board? Weird. OK, let's see.

Is mining profitable in 2017?
Depends. If you can pull it off, it can be profitable, especially when bitcoin price pumps. But it's not a walk in the park, you should know that.

Quote
that they can mine 1$ per a day on their own PC (without ASCI)
$1 isn't much – your electricity bill could cost you more than that, and the expenses of your PC, hardware, and cooling.

Quote
(i7 4790K, GTX 980).
Don't get your hopes up. Mining with a single GPU is not going to make you any real profit. On the contrary, you might be losing money. Even if your PC is all too powerful, the mining will wear it off, and you will have to spend money to continue mining.

Quote
I'm still looking for a good software for GPU/CPU mining.
I know of two CGMiner and BitMinter.

Quote
is there any other option to buy "inexpesive" mining hardware to have at least 1$/day mining speed?
To be honest, what I have seen so far, There is nothing called 'inexpensive' in mining. It's like a long term investment, if you want money, you have to pay. Plus, I don't know what 'inexpensive' means to you (some people find $500 hardware inexpensive, others find it too expensive). An Antminer S5 would cost you about $140 (more or less), and if your power cost is less than 5cents per Kwh, you would be profiting $2 at the current price (that of course, if the pool is for free).
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reputable altcoin wallets on: May 15, 2017, 09:16:49 PM
Can you define what 'altcoin wallets' are? You can't have a single wallet for all the coins (and I know you know that), please, specify your altcoins, so that we can provide you specific information.
1265  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Confirmed Bitcoins not being deposited on: May 15, 2017, 09:12:52 PM
Hey guys,

I deposited BTC to bitcoin blender on Friday and it still hasn't shown up in my account.  I checked blockexplorer and everything looks confirmed and well there but I'm not too well versed in how fees work.

https://blockexplorer.com/address/39kgLPx8wPGYypx6w3nYvTMNiwkvt2NQbC

Can you please help me figure out why they're not available in my account yet?

Thanks!
OP, have you checked the Bitcoin address? It might be another one that differs from the one you meant to send the funds to. Please, check the address again, and if it is correct, you should file a ticket to the support section of bitblender.
1266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: So what's the next Ethereum/Bitcoin, guise? on: May 15, 2017, 12:27:14 PM
There are a lot of innovative alternative coins that are going to be launched in the next year or after. My advice: it's your money, your investment. Don't ask for anyone's opinion – you should research about what coins, you think, have a potential of growing in the coming years. Don't just throw your money based on some people's speculations.
1267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: best gpu for mining atm on: May 14, 2017, 11:53:51 PM
I am not into mining yet, so don't take my talk seriously. As of my in-depth readings on the mining board, I would suggest you RX470 4GB instead of RX480 8GB – it's better for ETH (RX480 is more powerful, but not enough — they are almost the same — for mining to justify the higher price). It's the most preferred GPU on the mining board (everyone is praising how good it is).
1268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why blockchain taking days for BTC confirmation? on: May 14, 2017, 10:48:49 PM
if i want to send 1500$ BTC then how much network Fee should i use to make BTC confirmation fast?
Over 65k satoshi if you want to get a confirmation less than 10 minutes.
Over 260satoshis/byte.
No one can determine the proper fees for a specific transaction like this $1,500 in bitcoin, unless they see how much the size of the inputs and outputs data. Hence, saying 'pay (A) amount of bitcoin as fees to get faster confirmation' is not valid. It solely and only depends on the data size, not the amount of money transacted, nor the wallet's 'fixed/recommended' fees (as it seems to be broken somehow).
1269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Returning to bitcoin after 2 years! shocked at confirmation time! on: May 14, 2017, 09:52:56 PM
If everyone who sends bitcoin, would choose minimum fee (maybe even a zero) how would that change things?
That's probably true. People think they can transact any amount of money for 'free' using Bitcoin, which is completely wrong.

Quote

When the fees will get extremely high (in $ or € or any other fiat currency) more of people will decide to mine
That's not true. When fees gets higher, people will turn their backs on Bitcoin (except investors and enthusiasts), and proceed with online payment processors like PayPal.

Quote
which means there will be more Hash power, which then leads to faster transactions.
Not everyone can afford mining gears, let alone electricity and climate conditions. One needs a Massively huge Hash Power to be capable of processing/confirming transactions faster.

Quote
Maybe this high fees and long transactions times are really work of men (spam transactions).
Weird, but true.

Quote
And who would benefit from this the most? I would say miners...
Of course, they are. That's why there are a few persons who can manipulate bitcoin (or at least change its directions) because they own a huge chunk of Hash Power (someone like Jihan Wu), and respectively they get a massive amount of money.
1270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: rise in "bitcoin is dead" topics shows rise in bitcoin's dominance! on: May 14, 2017, 09:21:04 PM
I counted 12 topics about 'Bitcoin being or going to be dead' on Bitcointalk, and especially on the Economics board. So many hype since 2013 after the 'bubble,' and still, Bitcoin is stronger than ever. I bet such hype-rs are biting their fingers from regret right now looking at what price bitcoin has reached.
1271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: May 14, 2017, 08:55:05 PM
Your fees are one of the lowest (I mean 26 satoshi/byte... Come on), that's why it's definitely dropped from the network. An advice: Change your wallet – if you can't set the fees, your transactions will be screwed over. I had a similar wallet in the past, and it fucked me up, literally. Go with Electrum or Coinbase (in case you send small amounts like these).
1272  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: help with unconfirmed transaction please on: May 13, 2017, 10:48:53 PM
I think we should come up with a solution to eliminate the usage of blockchain.info's wallet (as it's the worst – talking from experience with it), and notify new people who are using bitcoin for the first time about the 'fees' as posts like these are seen very often nowadays, and with the adoption of more people, we would see more in the future.

1273  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What is a double spend? on: May 13, 2017, 10:44:23 PM

There is also Bitcoin Core wallet (but if you don't mind downloading 60-ish GBs of data, and you may encounter a few issues as well).
The blockchain is actually at ~110 GB right now. However pruning can be enabled to save space on the hard drive. Pruning will not effect the time it takes to download and verify the blockchain though as the whole thing will still need to be downloaded and verified (i.e. bandwidth is consumed, but not disk space).

LOL. Well, I haven't checked it since I got involved into the Bitcoin world earlier (I have a bad network as well so that adds up...). Thanks for pointing it out (I have edited my post).
1274  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What is a double spend? on: May 13, 2017, 10:34:34 PM
Ok, that is very helpful thanks.  That is a very reasonable possibility as to what happened.  Is there a way I can confirm that by looking at my previous transaction history?

As a bitcoin newbie I thought blockchain.info's wallet was one of the safest choices.  What are better options?

Electrum would be a good choice. There is also Bitcoin Core wallet (but if you don't mind downloading 110-ish GBs of data, and you may encounter a few issues as well). Don't worry, I thought that at first, too, until I encountered the fees issues.

Looking at your transactions, did you make those transactions yourself anytime before? If you did, can you recall where you send them to? Although I know Blockchain.info wallet can make some weird transactions for old addresses sometimes, it doesn't make transaction on its own.
1275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gilly Coin - welcome! on: May 13, 2017, 10:28:34 PM
I sell 90000 GILL
1 GILL 50 sat
Total 0.045 BTC
Send me PM

It's too cheap, who will buy it?
Why would anyone buy a 5 Billion supply coin with no real, innovative features or developments? Plus, who in his sound mind would care to mine a coin with a reward of 600 coins and the pre-mine is 950,000,000 coins. When it get listed, it will be dirt-cheap and people will get screwed over with 950 Million (pre-mined) coins that can be dumped in the market anytime.

Any white paper to read about this?
1276  Economy / Lending / Re: Trader loan services on: May 13, 2017, 09:35:16 PM
8. If a loan periode expires I do wait 20% of loan periode, if not the collateral become mine.

I'm worried about what this means; It makes zero sense.
If you read the whole thread (which takes less than 3 minutes, if you were even bothered to read), you would have found the answer provided by the OP -_-.

An explanation for 8th point. If the loan is for 5 days and you do not pay on repayment day, 20% of 5 days means 1 day. After 1 day I will keep the collateral.

In other words, he means if the loan period is five days (for example), after these 5 days, he will wait 1 day (.2*5 days = 1 day), and then take the collateral for himself.
1277  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2017-05-13 btcmanager.com Ransomware Infects 200,000 Globally Despite Killswitch on: May 13, 2017, 09:15:24 PM
Now the media will go crying all day about how Bitcoin is being used for such bad, illegal activities. Though it is weird to me why asking for only $300 in Bitcoin – seems way too small for such attacks on 'important companies and institutions.' These companies still hold responsibility for their own security.
1278  Economy / Speculation / Re: What price would you stop buying Bitcoin? on: May 13, 2017, 09:04:04 PM
Now something that as value is backed by mathematics.. no ressources or power involved.  Just math !
It's a great revolution toward progress that Crypto-Blockchain stuff bring to humanity !Evolution! Smiley

Be careful with "backed by math".  It is backed by the math that a miner consortium decides to put into the software they are running to make the block chain.  You may think that the 21 million coins are "fixed by math", but that's not true.  They are only fixed by the lines of software that are running now on the nodes of the miner pools.  The only thing that withholds them from changing that, is the *psychological* barrier ; the fact that this was so hammered into the minds of the users that if ever they dare to change that, the whole belief system crumbles.  But it is not "backed by math", at all.

Where does this 21 million come from ?  It comes from the fact that there's a piece of software that has a counter, and every 210 000 blocks, it halves the block reward.

Here's that piece of code:

It means that during 210 000 blocks, there were 50 coins ; then there were 25 coins in the next 210 000 blocks, etc....

As 50 + 25 + 12.5 + 6.25 + .... = 100

we have that in total, *if this piece of software continues to run unchanged for the next 100 years or so*, there will be 210 000 * 100 = 21 000 000 coins in total.

If tomorrow, all the miner pools together (there are about 20 of them) decide to change those few lines of code, you can print just as many bitcoin as you want.  No math, apart from the trivial math that calculates the sum when you have the lines of code, in the same way that "the math determines the emission of fiat currency", when a central bank prints, say, a million dollars a day, you can say that "the math" fixes the amount of dollars printed per year to 365 million.

Good point, but you know, as well, that miners would never do so – reason: Bitcoin becomes nothing. If there wasn't a 21 Million limitation, price wouldn't go as high as it's now (or higher in the future). So 'Math' still has a role in this, as manipulating it leads to catastrophic disasters.

On topic, I have stopped buying bitcoin since the price went to $1500 – it is very high for me to buy even 0.1BTC with USD$. Instead, I am working on making Bitcoins in other ways (not just my signature).
1279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ardor on: May 13, 2017, 08:50:48 PM
LOL, OP. I was thinking about investing in Ardor just this evening, because I have been reading and searching about it all day today. It seems like a really underestimated, but great alternative coin. I hope your words come true that it pumps in this month. Even shits have been insanely pumping like 8900% this month.
1280  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When do you plan to sell? on: May 13, 2017, 08:40:57 PM
Why would anyone sell his/her GOLD (just an expression for storage of value, not the actual gold) for a dust price, if he/she can get way more in near the future. I think it's stupidity if someone sells bitcoin now instead of holding — unless, of course, he/she needs money. People were complaining about how the price was getting out of common man's reach when the price touched $1,900, what if it became $10,000 per a single coin? You would have lost catching a profit at such price.
