1141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Just one damned question on: June 14, 2017, 06:58:32 PM
Why the heck do people pay low fees for their transactions, then after waiting a long time, they come here, and start crying about it all over the place. They, then, are ready to do the impossible; they are ready to pay more than $100 to get their transaction confirmed. Simple question: why don't you just pay the damned normal fees of 0.002BTC, so you don't cry later (either about being unconfirmed or being stuck with a double spend)?!

P.S.: I know there are people who are forced to pay such low fees due to withdrawing from an exchange (or just any bitcoin service site). I also know that Blockchain.info fees estimation tool is responsible for the fees being fucked up.
1142  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone have any experience with Evolve.Markets? on: June 14, 2017, 06:41:51 PM
True. I have never heard of them, nor used them, obviously. But they seem legit (at least they are providing information, and their website looks professional enough). They also have an announcement thread on BitcoinTalk, if that means something. Check these: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1802511.0 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1720587.0
1143  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are genesis and hashflare trustable? on: June 14, 2017, 06:34:30 PM
There are no trusted cloud mining websites/platforms. You should never trust cloud mining – they can get away with your investment funds any time. Although both Genesis and Hashflare have been long in the business, still, I don't trust them.
1144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Live]🌟🌟🌟🌟 NVO Decentralized Exchange | Multi Wallet 🌟🌟🌟🌟 on: June 14, 2017, 06:28:53 PM
If I invest with BTC from my Waveswallet, will I be able to get the NVOs ?
It is stated clear enough in the announcement post that it is preferred (a must) to use a wallet that you own its private keys (I am aware that Waveswallet has a wallet Seed acting like private keys which backs it up, but they are not the same). But you still can get NVOT when they release the NVO wallet.
1145  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this theoretically possible? on: June 14, 2017, 05:47:31 PM
How? Does this whale have every currency in the world? The price is dropping everywhere. And the FUD needs to be in every language. How will they do that?
What you are suggesting is that someone is selling massive amounts of coins at a loss, spending a fortune on translators and trading surrogates at exchanges all over the world. And the payoff is a very slight chance of profits for a few hours at the most. Does not compute.
OK. You got a point there. But a whale might not need all of that. If the 'whale(s)' has funds on the most largest BTC/USD exchanges only, and started selling his BTC stack bit by bit, he could initiate the panic sell, if timed properly, leading the price to crash.
1146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this theoretically possible? on: June 14, 2017, 05:35:29 PM
I know a lot of people think "whales" do this. But I am not at all convinced. I have met with many of the largest traders and I assure you they do not do foolish things like this. Wealthy people did not get their money by buying low and selling high. There would be a slim chance that the price would fall low enough for enough time to buy back. The far more likely outcome would result in a loss.

Now why on Earth would I take that risk? Especially with an asset that is growing hundreds of percentage points per year. It is not logical and pros ONLY act logically.
Why isn't 'selling high, buying low' logical? I mean, let's assume a guy (might not be considered a whale) who had 100BTC, and kept doing that method till he got 1000BTC. Why would anyone sit on a sum of bitcoins doing nothing, while they can double it easily like that. Heck, the 2013 bubble was great time for such method.
1147  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this theoretically possible? on: June 14, 2017, 05:05:40 PM
Theoretically and practically. What do you think makes bitcoin crash after a big pump? Whales and large-volume investors selling Bitcoins, cashing out, getting huge profits, and buying it again cheaper. Just imagine this scenario on a big scale, and you will find it possible enough.
1148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best website for trading Altcoin's??? on: June 14, 2017, 04:57:16 PM
Hello everyone
Which is the best website for trading altcoins,
I know about these sites
- YoBit
- Poloniex
Anyone know some other site???
- YoBit (Stay away from this – it is not good for your health and money)
- Poloniex (Has some issues, but it's one of the largest exchanges)

I recommend Bittrex – it's good, fast enough, and the second largest exchange after Poloniex.
1149  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Poloniex is new CRYPTSY on: June 14, 2017, 04:40:19 PM
Well, I use Poloniex daily, depositing and withdrawing BTC or other altcoins with no problem. I am also arbitraging, so the amount of time taken to deposit/withdraw is very important to me, but I haven't come to any issue with Poloniex, yet. I have other issues like lag and slow loading, but they are acceptable.
1150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 4 x GTX1080 vs 5 x GTX1070 if equal price for farm? on: June 14, 2017, 03:39:01 PM
Well, GTX1080 is good for few coins, bad for the others. I would go with 5x GTX1070, as the difference between 1070 and 1080 in mining isn't much, thus having an additional one would give you better hashrates. You can also have a look at this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1768510.0
1151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LEAP OF FAITH, Should I try it? on: June 14, 2017, 03:28:33 PM
I don't know why you would head for a high-priced alternative coin like ETH or XMR. I mean investing a few hundreds of dollars in a coin which is priced at $300+ won't move you anywhere. If you want to take a 'leap of faith,' take it in a coin that has a potential of rising in the next month/year — a coin that is priced at 100-1000 satoshis with a low marketcap (something like XBY or SC). This would make your leap worth it.
1152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: GUIDE: How to determine what coin to buy on: June 14, 2017, 03:20:57 PM
Nice guide that could help those who are new to trading. Nice effort.

First check the 24h volume and also check the 24h High and 24h Low. Check the statistics first before you buy a coin. but, useualy altcoins doesn't last long in the market only few can last long.
Checking 24h volume might end your trading day with a loss (and a huge one). 24h volume/high/low are never an indicator to buy or sell – you might buy a pumped coin that would drop in price later. You should check the whole chart first (at least 7-day period), know how the coin performed during that period, then decide whether to buy/sell or not. Technical Analysis.
1153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: if bitcoin splits into 2 differents coins would bitcoin legacy be a altcoin? on: June 14, 2017, 03:12:32 PM
Well, not a very small chance according to this: https://coin.dance/blocks. Although Bitcoin Core dominates nodes, the mining pools are still divided. More blocks are being mined signaling SegWit, but still nothing real has come to the surface to eliminate this.

1155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Do People Invest Into DOGE? on: June 09, 2017, 12:06:52 AM
Why do people invest into dogecoin? I have been asked that question many time, I believe that it is worth a thread. Let's get right into it right now.
I am also one of those who ask why people invest in doge.

Quote
First, it is ranked in the top 15 cryptocurrency. Secondly, it is so cheap that if it has a slight growth, you will make A LOT. Basically, right now it is not even worth $0.01. The potential in this coin is so huge.
I don't think it's in the top '15' anymore. It's ranked as 19, according to coinmarketcap.com.

Dogecoin has various use, but I wont list it.
Other than being a way to escape Bitcoin high fees and delays, I don't think it has any other usages.

1156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $0.85 transaction fee is absolutely ridiculous! on: June 08, 2017, 11:10:28 PM
What? that much!
I advise you to not do such transactions, I rather use cryptocurrency exchange like poloniex, kraken, bittrex, and if fee would be that much I rather go on slow transaction...

Because that is just a waste sending bitcoin and ethereum on fast delivery... :/
Nothing can be compared to Poloniex when it comes to fees – it has 0.0001BTC withdrawal fees, and it's almost fast, but the downside is that it has few depositing and withdrawing issues. Most other exchanges changed their fees to 0.001BTC (with YoBit being an exception as fees there are 0.0009BTC, HitBTC with 0.00085BTC and Cryptopia as fees are 0.0008BTC) for smooth transactions. Nova, Bittrex, c-cex, etc. Only Kraken has a chunk fees of 0.0025BTC, and alcurex has 0.002BTC, which is ridiculous.
1157  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you trade at multiple exchanges? on: June 08, 2017, 10:58:10 PM
Yes, I do trade on multiple exchanges, and it is a good thing. Poloniex, Bittrex, HitBTC, alcurex, Cryptopia, NovaExchange, BTC38, bx.in.th and finally YoBit (only for arbitrage opportunities). This gives me enough experience to deal with trading situations, as well as, knowing how to trade on mostly any exchange. Some gives the best experience, others are just...
1158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $0.85 transaction fee is absolutely ridiculous! on: June 08, 2017, 10:46:13 PM
20$ fee?
Probably for something that has at least 40-50 inputs or outputs.
The normal transactions is between 1 and 2 $ depends of the day of the week.

And there will be never a 1000$ fee.
For that we will have to first through 100$ and at this point people will just stop using it and blocks will be empty again.

A normal transaction would have 0.00108480BTC as transaction fees for a total transaction size of 226 bytes, according to bitcoinfees.21.co. That is $3.002 worth of bitcoin, according to preev.com, with an estimated time of arrival of 1-12 hours.
Hope it's clear enough where we are going.
1159  Economy / Speculation / Re: remember bitcoin on: June 08, 2017, 10:34:13 PM
Bitcoin has become very punishing towards low denomination users. Transactions below 1 BTC are not even worth it because of the fees which sometimes go as high as 0.002 BTC when mempool backlogs are high. How are people going to use this currency for their daily need when all you need is 0.01 BTC to purchase groceries and stuff and 10% of that are fees? Some countries are legalizing Bitcoin but nobody has an answer to these issues.

Some of the local exchanges in my country don't allow you to specify a fee and they will send with fees as high 0.003 BTC to ensure a fast and smooth transaction but you end up feeling ripped off after seeing what you received in your wallet.
I remember also when people were paying fees like 0.0003BTC and getting mad over it, now look where we stand. That's all because we cannot solve bitcoin scaling issue (a bit of greed and arrogance), and the huge spam transactions (whether that's true or not, but still) make fees insanely high. I day-trade on exchanges, so I totally feel your pain, mate.
1160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alticoins competiting with ethereum would be worth putting eyes now. on: June 08, 2017, 12:40:48 AM
I don't know anything about EOS, but Aeternity seems to be a really good project with a known team, at the very least. This is their announcement thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1733140.0

By the way, why do you consider these as altcoins? Are not these all ICOs?

ICO is the abbreviation of Initial Coin Offering (selling an alternative coin for investors), so it is involved with Altcoins, not a separate, or a different thing. Altcoins can have ICOs to raise funds.
