My wife is apparently in labor. All bets are off on the timeline. See you when I see you.

FYI, they found out what causes that!

Why do you think i will never create more than 6.6 BTC? If i run the machine i will get very little amounts maybe , but it create amounts. And so after  i reached 6.6 why do you think i will not create more? after one day of running i will have 6.60001 BTC maybe thats ok it increase Wink (maybe i have a naive thinking, i just wanna understand)
And After the difficulty is extremly rising i could change to an altcoin, right? I could mine peercoins and exchange it to bitcoin so its also increasing.

Your not going to create any significant amount more than 6.6 BTC from those calcs, you might created 0.000001 in the next block and so forth in decreasing amounts to the point where you get nothing (i.e your earnings approach zero per block). Wrong, you can't change to an altcoin because those are based on scrypt which is a different to the SHA-256 used by Bitcoin making your miner incompatible. To mine altcoins at the moment you need to use GPUs as there are no ASICs in existence for altcoins.

Orders have already been placed with one company for Scrypt ASICs and another company is imminent. You are correct that they are not in the hands of miners yet, but they have been designed.

I got something interesting... I was never able to get the wallet to sync at home, but it did work at my
office, so I had pool payouts sent there. So afterwards, I copied the blockchain to a flashdrive and brought
the chain home. I startup the client and it connects!  lol

I just noticed the new client and installed it and it works also.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: January 10, 2014, 10:21:50 PM
Mooncoin dev here, I am still around.

I had to deal with back surgery after a herniated disc. I'm not going to share the details because "haters gonna hate" and all of that. It was not a pleasant experience.

We'll update this weekend.

Sorry to hear that and best excuse ever!  :-D

Let's get pointed back to the moon with your help.
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 10, 2014, 09:10:41 PM
Mining is over

I remember hearing that in 2011 and a lot more often  Roll Eyes

If BTC hits $10,000 per coin in 2014, fast mining hardware will be worth it's weight in gold...  Smiley

Heck, if BTC goes high enough, even a Block Eruptor is valuable.

I'm doing the pool thing now. No solo blocks for over an hour.

When I follow the instructions for solo mining my cgminer says:

Pool 0 slow/down or URL or credentials invalid

Have done it exactly as described above.

Who can help me?

post your .conf text and your .bat text

also remember a crucial rule. you must have your wallet running when you try to mine

.bat file:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o localhost:56679 -u user1 -p x --gpu-platform 0 -d 0 -w 512 -v 1 -I 20 -g 1 -l 1 -T  --thread-concurrency 24550

.conf file:

rpcuser=user1
rpcpassword=x
rpcport=56679
addnode=37.59.28.23
addnode=162.243.255.143
server=1
daemon=1

try listen=1 and 8777 for port (change in both places)
Is the wallet on same computer? I always add ipallow=198.168.1.*
268  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: January 10, 2014, 05:02:07 PM
I don't think we are saying to hold all. The main point is to keep the majority of your coins longterm.
Selling on the way up is the standard practice in the investment world.
269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining profit in 2014 on: January 10, 2014, 04:56:21 PM
This is the year of scrypt ASICs! Not quite as big a boom as last year because they will mostly only save power, but still.

Confirming payout from cryptofountain and I agree that solo is better for awhile yet.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: January 10, 2014, 03:50:01 PM
can we solo mine this at this diff with 2.5MH

I would not bother. Buy some if anything.

Solo Klondike coin right now. I'm still getting blocks with 1.5Mhs...
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: January 10, 2014, 03:20:44 PM
so do you suggest to not try to sell?

I'm certainly not. I mean, look...say you have a million MOON. If you sell that now, what is it going to get you? About 9 bucks or 0.01 of a bitcoin. Why bother? Forget you even have it. Consider it lost into the void. Come back in six months and either your 9 bucks is gone or it's turned into a LOT more than 9 bucks.

The coins like this are the best opportunity for ridiculous gains. Yes, some (most?) will fail completely. But the ones that don't are the ones that make millionaires.

Something to consider.

This happened to me with Goldcoin. I looked months later and I had $5K worth!

What's the point with the price so low?  lol

Much better idea is to invest in the gambling site in my sig. It's not my site. Actually in Estonia.

It is normal to "die" after hitting the exchanges. Give it time. Just HODL.
If Bitcoin temporarily drops it may go up also.

Agreed. Look at Quark. It crashed and burned hard and was sold into the ground (though I don't know if it was actually removed from exchanges). It stayed insignificant for months and then all of a sudden it skyrocketed to something like +5000% in a few days, leading to a lot of butthurt people screaming 'instamine' when the reality is that ANYone could have bought millions of QRK for almost literally nothing for 6 months.

One of two things will happen with MOON: either the devs and community will abandon it and it will die completely, or it will silently build steam for a few months, reach a tipping point and then skyrocket.

The key is an active community.

As I said yesterday, at these prices, it's almost crazy NOT to throw a few thousand satoshi at it. It's like a crazy hail mary penny stock play. It might go to zero or it might be the best investment you've made in crypto. Time will tell.

I'm actually starting to wonder if this method IS the best way to make money i.e. wait till a new coin dies on the exchange after the initial frenzy, and then buy buy buy because they alway seem to come back!

try changing the port number to 8777(worked for me)

you change it in the conf file and the batchfile for cgminer

restart & sync the wallet first

Woke-up to 1500 from solo.

The key to solo is to constantly adjust these cgminer parameters and adjust them to the number of seconds
between the blocks as it unfolds over time. Especially crucial the first hour:

-s 12 -E 15 -Q 0      <<< this means work on the block for 12 seconds, submit within 15 seconds and don't have
any "backup work" ready i.e. get fresh data to work on. Eventually you will want: -s 60 -E 70 -Q 1

I've got 462 KDC so far doing this.

How you set up this "-s 12 -E 15 -Q 0 " if difficulty rises 2x or 3x. Parametrs going up or down ?

has nothing to do with difficulty. you merely watch the cgminer window and calculate the seconds between blocks

I agree the pools are not working. I jumped on one and found 11 blocks with no credit. Back to solo!
