1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Getting into investing/trading on: January 11, 2018, 09:22:37 AM
Hey,

I'm super interested getting in Altcoin investing/trading, but I have no experience in it. Which are the best ways to educate myself?

Regards

First, I would like to express to you my warm welcome to the world of altcoins. Please read a lot of reliable articles, news, and beginners' guide about cryptocurrencies and alternate cryptocurrencies. You will find a lot of it online. You can also find a lot of significant threads here that would be of great help to you to increase your knowledge about altcoins. Please do not just jump into investing in any coin without understanding first the risks and probabilities. Start with small amount and then choose a good exchange platform such as Bittrex. You will be spending a lot of rough rides here but be firm. And of course enjoy!
1082  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is an asset or currency. on: January 11, 2018, 08:26:17 AM
I hear from many sources that btc is used for trading much more than it is for goods and services; doesn't that make it an asset ??
and is that necessarily a bad thing ?? and what can we do about it as a community ??

I don't find it a bad thing at all. By the mere fact that it is being traded, it means it is like some form of a security that is expected to grow and fall in prices. That is why it is being treated as a form of asset for some because the general trend of the movement of Bitcoin's value is really rising. This is not bad at all. Satoshi would not have considered this if he had known that this will put Bitcoin in a bad spot. Nothing to do about it. Let us just continue to hold while spending some.
1083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "I regret" calling bitcoin a fraud. on: January 11, 2018, 07:35:17 AM
Jamie Dimon has the penchant to speak out whatever in his mind even if all these are not well-thought of and even just a creation of his imagination. This guy does not have a credibility anymore if he continues to talk as if he knows a lot of what he is speaking about when in fact his words are as much as simply hollow and meaningless as twisted. The problem is that he is one big man that is why people give him some space in papers and time in newscast.

1085  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin value on: January 10, 2018, 07:01:17 AM
Can anyone answer this question:

I buy 1Bitcoin worth $15000. It gets to $20,000. I make $5000 extra and i cash this out. Will I still have
my 1 BTC at 15000? If the price goes to $15000 then rises to $17000. Will I make $2000 profit the second time?
Will i keep getting fractions added to my 1 bitcoin as the value goes up?

Let me make it very simple to you. Your amount of Bitcoin does not grow at all. It is just the value of it that grows. So when you made a withdrawal or conversion into fiat of the amount of $5,000, that means your Bitcoin is not 1 anymore. But your total Bitcoin is still valued at $15,000 because it has already grown $5,000. When you have Bitcoins, it is only the value that goes up and down but not the amount of your holdings.

1087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I have only 200€ to invest on: January 09, 2018, 04:10:36 AM
Hello Im new on this forum, can you help me to choose good coin for me? I have only 200€ to spend, I was thinking about ETH/LTC but is it worth when I have only 200? Or should I try my luck with something cheap.

For me, it is not practical to invest in Ethereum (ETH) or Litecoin (LTC) if you only have a total of a little more than $200. It might not grow as fast as you might want to. And of course we want our investment to grow faster especially if it is only in a small or moderate amount. It would not be good to wait a long time for a small profit. Try looking for new altcoins that just dumped very recently but are expected to rise in value, even double, very soon. That is the easiest way to earn good.
1088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cash is better than Bitcoin. on: January 09, 2018, 03:26:39 AM
What are the reasons, why people use Cash or Credit Cards / ATM / Banks?

* Work offline 100%
* No fees.
* Accepted for Food Shopping & Micropayments
* 0 confermations time
* 0 exchange risks
* anyone is able to understanding of the value of payment

This is actually correct. And I agree. These are the advantages that we enjoy from out fiat currency. However, there are also disadvantages of the fiat system. And these disadvantages will be well-provided by Bitcoin. Say for example, the fiat system is basically under the control of one single authority and all transactions using fiat is sanctioned by the central bank or the central government. With Bitcoin, transactions will fall within the personal level. Everything is happening between two people, without necessarily passing through some outside powers.

1090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to participate in ICO's? on: January 08, 2018, 07:52:49 AM
Right now there are many ICOs coming out, is it really safe to participate in any of it and spend that much? In participating ICOs I have high hopes that these coins could be the next Bitcoin or other currencies that are really going up in the market.

It is not that safe. Well, there are risks everywhere even in Bitcoin investment but there is a significantly higher amount of risk with ICOs. There are so many failed ICOs in the market. It is not even to say that these are scams in the beginning. There are also good ICOs and projects that simply ended up failing to get the nod of a good number of crypto supporters that caused their entire project to die. So you really need to read up and analyze the ICO you will be participating.
1091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Millionaire? I’d be happy with just paying my house off. on: January 08, 2018, 06:56:17 AM
I’m mean of coarse I’d love to have one million dollars worth of BTC to live my life with, but at this point in crypto world. I would love to have my home paid for. I would be very happy to provide that for my family. 175k is what I need to be free. I hope my goal isn’t to far of a stretch. Does this seem realistic?

Is that 175,000 in US Dollars? I think that is very much possible to be earned. If you have like 5 Bitcoins, I think you will not have to wait for another year before your 175,000 USD target will be reached. A single Bitcoin will definitely reach at least $30,000 within the year. It might even be reached in the middle of 2018. $20,000 could easily be reached within 3 months. Right after that, another 3 months is enough for Bitcoin to finally get that $30,000. Let us continue to promote the use of Bitcoin.

1093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Phenomenal rise of Bitcoin price! on: January 07, 2018, 09:43:53 AM
6 grand is a bit much, I must say. Though it is possible, around 2.5k USD would be the price of bitcoin this year (peak price).

This incredible rapid increase in bitcoin's price was due to the wide acceptance of bitcoin, thus, increasing demand dramatically. Since the announcement of Japan that they will accept btc as a mode of payment, many had gained interest in bitcoin and currently, Australia also announced their acceptance of crypto currency. Hence, the rapid increase in bitcoin's price is not so surprising.

Those were the days. This old thread has one very important lesson to give us. And that is Bitcoin moves and grows beyond our expectations. When Bitcoin started, it was considered very high already for it to reach $5. But then in the end $5 was proven to be so low a price prediction. Here, in May of 2017, the speculation was very little for Bitcoin because it was almost absurd to think that Bitcoin will be reaching as high as $6,000 in December of 2017. $6,000 was considered a very ambitious target back then. But then for the nth time, Bitcoin proven everything wrong because it even went as high as $19,000 in December.
1094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Zuckerberg is looking into cryptocurrency ::) ::) ::) on: January 07, 2018, 08:45:46 AM
And here's what other top investors think

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says Facebook will be looking into cryptocurrency in the new year.

"There are important counter-trends to this — encryption and cryptocurrency — that take power from centralized systems and put it back into people's hands," Zuckerberg wrote in his 2018 mission statement, issued on Thursday. "But they come with the risk of being harder to control. I'm interested to go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of these technologies, and how best to use them in our services."

This is going to be another great news for Bitcoin. Facebook is now a very influential social media platform. It has changed the world of social media and brought it to a whole new level. And if Facebook will finally announce that it will be integrating the use of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in its platform, this will be a very vital promotion of Bitcoin and crypto in general, resulting to a surge in popularity and eventually in value as well.
1095  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: January 06, 2018, 12:20:04 AM
is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? anyhow this money sits in the bank and do nothing for!

It is indeed risky if you have no more disposable fiat at hand right now. Can you find a market in your area that accepts Bitcoin as payment? How about gas stations? Can you have you car be gassed up using Bitcoins only? If the answer is no then it is not advisable for you to turn all your money into Bitcoins. But if you are referring to your savings only, I guess it is a different case. I would recommend that you turn around 80 percent of these idle savings in the banks into Bitcoins because the faster growth in value is here in crypto. But leave some of course in case of emergency.
1096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where can I sell some XRP (Ripple)? on: January 05, 2018, 11:45:33 PM
I have some XRP I want to convert to BTC. So I opened an account at Bitstamp. Unfortunately you need to verify the account before you can send your XPR there. And they are currently very much behind with verifications, looking at 2 weeks+ or so. I then went to Binance, but they don't accept new customers at the moment. Any ideas which other exchange I could choose? Preferably one where I don't have to go through a lengthy verification process.

You may use HitBTC. They do not require much verification process there. You can also try using Bitfinex. They do not require you to submit a lot of verification documents if you do not trade or deposit or withdraw USD. You can easily sell your XRP in these two exchanges because they have large trading volumes. You can also use Cryptopia. The unverified account will let you withdraw a total of 5,000 NZD on a daily basis. Try to explore all these good exchanges. Feel free to choose the best one for you.
1097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Make Money in Crypto on: January 05, 2018, 11:04:56 PM
Good day as I am new to the crypto world What is really the way to make $ in in crypto ? such as Bitcoin or other coins?

I understand as i have some invested. in my wallets the values go up and down, so you can cash out or sell when value up?

do you just buy and sell currency as the markets move up and down? or what other ways to make $ with crypto?
do you transfer bitcoin over to other websites etc?

or what should i be focusing on? thanks

just like to know what all the experts do?

Have it one step at a time, mate. Which do you want to prefer? Or better yet, read a lot about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and then later on you decide which way do you want to focus on. Or you can also devote a certain portion of your day to each one. First is through trading. This is one good way to earn. The basic is to buy low and then sell high. Do not transfer constantly or cash out. You will be wasting away Bitcoins for that manner because of transaction fees. Cash out only or transfer Bitcoins when very necessary.
1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin saved my year on: January 05, 2018, 08:38:02 AM
I started 2017 broke and with a very low wage. My girlfriend also broke up with me in the beginning of the year.
Although I had committed some trade mistakes I was able to get 400% gains, thanks to btc.  This gave me hope and made my year a lot better.
I wonder how many people bitcoin "saved" this year, even preventing some suicides maybe.

Bitcoin preventing some suicides? That's hilarious! Well, glad to hear that Bitcoin helped another person in you. That is what is rewarding with Bitcoin. If you truly believe in it and buy some and then hold for at least a year, there is never a way to fail. This is the perfect message to those people who have weak hands and those emotional, easily getting panicked with a little dump of Bitcoin's value. They should learn to be patient.
