1181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Bridging the Gap Between the Centralized and Decentralized World on: June 12, 2017, 08:22:00 PM
For some of them, it wasn't even about money to begin with and still isn't, it's about being an early adopter and learning something new, something that isn't written in any history book but will change the course of the future for many generations.
You put that so well felixir. And dipping that toe in the water to be part of something so fundamental to the future can be really cheap. Maybe not if they're not aware or wanting to have a fraction of a BTC. But if you want a few DNotes, you can get them cheaper than almost any other form of entertainment.

That is a good point Tim, we have setup several programs to help get people easily started in DNotes and begin learning about it. It would be great to come up with a way to get a small amount of DNotes into the hands of people that are interested in getting started and learning more. The challenge is being able to do with in such a way that cannot be exploited and also does not require a lot of manual intervention.

Finally! Something intellectually stimulating to read on BCT again!  Grin  Great to see Dnote's new forum and talk to the crew! I have missed the old forum quite a bit. It was easy to keep up with everything on a daily basis for someone with limited time. Great to see everyone here again!

PS: Did I miss the signature contest? Haven't had time to read all the new posts as of yet...

Welcome back RJF! Great to see more old faces returning to the forum to say hello. I am in agreement with you that intellectually stimulating discourse beyond the "price" of a coin by its adherents is difficult to come by. The signature contest is now over, but we may look into a similar contest in the future. Please post again when you've caught up with all the content in this thread.

There are two words that I don't mind if I never read or hear again: "pump" and "dump"!  Anyway, DNotes future looks very bright indeed. I'm so glad to see everyone is still here, Hi Alan!, hows Smokey and the farm?

RJF, we are always very happy to see you. Kevin (Smokey) is doing very well. He is an amazing guy and an inspiration to all of us.

The farm (Smokeys Gardens: https://smokeysgardens.com/) has grown a lot since your last visit. We expanded from 38 to 70 acres with many more gorgeous daylilies. We are now by far the largest daylily grower in the world. As you may remember from our earlier conversation, we started 10 years ago with $500 with a commitment to be equal to and subsequently better than any of our competitors. It has been a long journey with relentless dedication to do whatever it takes to be the best in class. We did it and I am very proud and appreciative of our team.

DNotes is following the same business model. Our commitment is to be equal to our best competitor one day. We are totally dedicated to our vision of DNotes meeting the full functions of money and ultimately be superior to fiat currency. It is a Big Bold idea of global scale and scope but that is what it must take for digital currency to gain mass acceptance worldwide. It's a massive undertaking and that is why I spent a whole year to write a book "Improve Your Odds - The Four Pillars of Business Success" https://fourpillarsofbusinesssuccess.com/ with a chapter each dedicated to Smokeys Gardens and DNotes. We will soon have a daylily officially registered and named "DNotes"

We are doing amazing things at DNotes with a lot happening at the farm. For the last few months, continuing through much of this summer, we have been using the farm as our training, conference, strategic planning, and video production center. You are always welcome to visit us if you happen to be in the area.

Quote from RJF:

PS: All caught up, wow, things are looking very good. I applaud your decision to go POS, gives you much better control of the coin and everyone gets to share in the pie, not just the miners. Nice move. I'm especially interested in the smart contract inclusion as I'm following similar efforts elsewhere. I have always felt this tech has great promise and will be very interested in DNotes implementation. How do you intend to guarantee the transactions? Escrow? If so, single or double? Will the contracts be revocable by any single party?

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
Good to note that you like our decision to go POS. I rather not get ahead ourselves on technical details at this time. I can say that we will be a significant player in the blockchain and smart contract arena.

Understood about technical details, no problem, just exciting to hear! Also glad to hear everyone is doing well, perhaps I can visit again next year when I'm in Ohio, we will see. So, why be equal to your best competitor? I say, blast out in front! Although there is something to be said for being a smaller target!

mintcoin to the moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
If 1 second of updating the blockchain would be equal to 1 second of travelling to the moon, it would take 21 days to get there.
No chance Mintcoin will ever get there mate.

Well, it took Apollo 3 days to do it, just have to wait a little longer, certainly not impossible.  Grin

LOL BAGHOLDERS are desperately trying to protect their investment. Developers are brainwashing them because they will dump first than hacker lol and after that, nobody won't want to buy this shit anymore lol and it will be de-listed.

I'm sorry, this is an idiot free forum, please confine your posts to other forums that allow abject stupidity.
1187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: June 12, 2017, 01:23:08 PM
Hi DogeDarkDev,

any chance of implementing  for additional privacy into Verge:

- Hiding Sender wallet address (in wallet and explorer/ledger)
- Hiding Receiver wallet address (in wallet and explorer/ledger)
- Hiding Transaction amount (in explorer/ledger)
- Hiding IP Address (in explorer/ledger)
- implementing Tumble bit
- Implementing Segwit/Confidential Transaction

looking forward to hearing your thoughts Smiley

let me get this straight...

you want it so in my wallet, i cant see who im sending to?
nor who sent it to me
nor the amount that was sent (or received)
that sum up the first few? (bit confused there) why?

Segwit...thats been mentioned.  i think the RSK contracts is being looked at...

(  go back 10+ (2 or 3 pages) posts, and read my summary of what to do when going into a new thread.)

-----

Write down questions
read the first 10 pages on topic.
Skip to end...go back 50 pages.
Read thru.  erasing questions that were asked already/ or answered already.

whatevers left, then ask.

I guess what I'm looking for is maybe an excel table comparing all the privacy coins and what security/privacy features make Verge better than:  Bool Berry, Bytecoin, Dash, Digital Note, Monero, Zcash, and a segwit enabled coin with Confidential Transactions.

This way it can highlight why Verge will beat them all, or what  security/privacy features we can look forward to to be added to verge! Smiley
and if this table can be posted on the first page of this long thread without the user having to go through 276 pages or search through the chatter to find it even better!

And CLOAK...

Having a problem with the old wallet. Can't get it to make a network UPNP connection. Running 64 bit Windows, wallet is unlocked, firewall allows all from/to wallet but, UpNP choice under Network grayed out. This is recent, worked last week. Any thoughts?
1189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] E-CurrencyCoin Thread [CryptoBank Development] on: June 11, 2017, 08:27:52 PM
Hi, just found this coin, can someone explain to me why the price jumped from 1 sat to 7 sat in the past 4 days? Also the price curve on Coinmarketcap looks weird, seems like the price as been below 1 sat from time to time?

ECC has been around since 2014 and was more or less dead for a long time. It has recently been revived and is picking up momentum and users. More exchanges are needed to smooth things out a bit but, that will come in time. A new wallet is due today or tomorrow now that the coin is actively being developed again.

So the price spike is due to the coin taken over by CryptoUnited just a few days ago? Why is the thread so long then?  Cheesy

I wonder what exchanges you had before being added on CoinExchange, that resulted in a price lower than 1 sat?

No, the coin was taken over by Griffith in August, 2014. The guy who created it pro-mined it and let it go. One of the reasons was that the code was full of errors and the chain was forking all the time.
Griffith took it over and started to repair the wallet. As you properly know any coin that is taken over has all kind of problems because people are angry.

It took 3 years to repair the wallet AND find a good purpose for the coin.
Now Griffith ( yeah the same one that is already 3 years with the coin) has done testing and improving the File Storage on the Blockchain and he made his new plan known. This has generated new interest in ECC.
Especially because the direct competition with the same qty of generated coins and also doing the file storage is going for around 535 Sat at the moment.

Wow, memory fades fast! Now that you mention it, I do remember Griffith taking this on and, several others.

ehh... i feel like i should supplement this a bit while the linux wallets start their compilations.

here is actual timeline:

original dev makes coin in march 2014 with 0.5% bounty --> coin goes on mintpal --> i am assuming original dev sold his stash (500 million) during peak mintpal times of about 10 satoshi --> coin breaks and basically dies due to forking (i think there were about 7 or 8 forks at the time) --> i see the coin and said to myself ive been gpu mining btc/ltc for a while, since im going to school for software engineering i think i could make a go at this whole coin dev thing --> i spend about 2-5 months testing fixes and trying to fix the forks in this coin, in that time i learned a lot on how the blockchain actually works --> eventually i fix the coin --> mintpal goes belly up and everything goes quiet for a while --> i get the coin listed on bleutrade --> i try for about 8 or 9 months (if not a little longer) to successfully make a wallet that can run multiple coins locally simultaneously and find out that due to the way the coins load, this consumes a ton of memory and doesnt scale at all --> quiet for a few more months where im working on helping some coins run by other teams and learning more about bitcoins built in script language as well as keys and cryptography in general, during this time i took a few classes at university on cryptography. --> quiet over last summer because i went to work for a startup company in the western united states that wanted to use blockchain to make a payment system. was real busy with that. it didnt work out. company now gone. --> came back and said ok, i know a lot about this now. i think i can actually take a coin and be innovative with it. --> started to actively develop this again with new features planned and such.

TL;DR took over this coin after original dev left. spent a long time becoming experienced in blockchain tech. decided to actively develop this coin again.

Thanks for the history lesson!  Grin  And, thanks for taking on the project, ECC deserves to live again...

anyone one can tell me does this MintCoin-2.0.2-win32-setup.exe work in my win64 windows system ??  which folder could i put my old wallet file on ? thanks

Yes, it will work. If your not using the install version than the executable files go in "C:\Program Files (x86)\MintCoin" All other files like wallet.dat, databases, etc can be found in C:\Users\yourusername\appdata\roaming\mintcoin\" Save your "wallet.dat" before you do anything just to be safe.

Hi everyone, just a quick status update. I'm sure most of you know that there is scheduled to be a new wallet this weekend and have probably noticed that i failed to mention if it would be released today (saturday) or sunday. I did this on purpose as i wasnt 100% sure how bug testing would go. But so far I haven't found any strange bugs and it looks like everything is running smoothly. I am almost done with testing and will release the wallet after i am finished.

Please note: this is an OPTIONAL upgrade. if you are happy with the version you have you do not need to update. a lot of the changes are GUI based so users run daemons 24/7 probably wont notice much of a difference if any at all.

Thank you everyone for your support so far. After this update is released we are going to turn a lot of attention towards marketing and getting on more exchanges.

Hi, i got error when opening ecc wallet, its says
" Assertion Failed "
expression - : pindex --> pprev pindex getblockhash - blabla,., hash genesis block test net ,.,.,. error loading blkindex.dat
what is the solution ? thx in advance

that actually means that the blockchain you have got corrupted and you need to resync. it is a known bug in the wallet. if you want to resync today, then checking the box to detach wallet DB on shutdown in the options menu will help reduce the frequency of this error. or you can wait until the new wallet comes out this weekend to resync as this wallet has the bug that causes the chain corruption to be fixed ( i will also be posting a bootstrap when the new wallet is released)

-Griffith

Just found this thread. Griffith, thank you for continuing to develop ECC. Dug up the old wallet to see if it will sync, got millions of these from the old days. I see there will be a new wallet soon?

it seems an intresting coin after litecoin
emc2 team is growing and its price is also growing
and crowdfunding platform is on its way and soon will be presented on next Friday 6/16/2017 on our web site www.emc2.foundation
its good news after crowdfunding price will rise and i hope after that there is no dump

Been holding EMC2 for years, mined most of them, glad to see it's getting some respect!

Is the latest wallet revision 2.0.2.0?  I thought I saw a 2.0.2.1 somewhere?

Also, my MINT wallet looks like it's synced, I have 21 active connections to the network but, I get the "out of sync" message. Is there a known problem?  If not, is there a known good list of peers? Does it need to be "repaired"?

Latest wallet:

https://github.com/MintcoinCommunity/Mintcoin-Desktop-Wallet/releases

You will know that your mint software is sync'ed once you see a green check mark on the bottom right of your wallet.

Thanks. it finally finished syncing after a restart. Apparently stuck on the last 20k entries somewhere. The confusing thing was that it showed the "(out of sync)" error yet I could send and receive. Noticed it was going forward a few blocks then retracing and doing it again. I suspect some corruption in the blk database. All good now!

Exscudo is often talked about on various topics, but that does not make us leave exscudo. Because we believe exscudo has a very professional team in this field.

I'm waiting for it on bittrex. To buy and hold more
Exscudo will be traded on the exscudo market

As well as any exchange that wants to pick it up, like Bittrex and all the others. It's up to the exchanges.

i also hope the bittrex can add the token.i think it is potential.i hope the token can be add on polo after months.

I think there's an excellent chance for inclusion in Bittrex and others but, Polo has different criteria for inclusion, we shall see...
