Nop, it's online

624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Small time miners, why not mining some EBT's on: February 11, 2014, 06:06:48 AM
I have more than a few friends living at what is considered poverty level income, frankly the name is insulting.

Someone's a little sensitive.  I don't see anything poking fun at EBT or those who are in need...

Is the difference between current and old price 24 hours time?

1) Can you explain a little further?

Obviously the "Current Price" volume reflects the current price of the coin, what point in time does the "Old Price" column reflect?

Would also be cool if we could choose the exchange the BTC price is pulled from...right now Coinbase is ~$100 higher than the price reflected on the site for example.

Not sure if you've looked into the portfolio tracking on Yahoo but when you enter a symbol (ie. coin) on there it asks you for the buy price in addition to the number of shares.  It would be awesome to include that information and be able to track the total increase/decrease in value for your coins/portfolio.

I'm not sure I understand this POS thing, will I benefit from it while mining on a pool? Sorry from being such a n00b.

It's basically earning interest on the coins you have in your local wallet.  You'll want to transfer the coins from the pool to your wallet and after 30 days in the wallet they will start accruing interest up to 10%.

Really surprised this coin is falling under the radar.

With all the hype around Mint, people have totally missed EBT. EBT is a much better PoS coin, in my opinion.

Firstly, there's only 250 million coins; not billions and billions. So you know each coin isn't going to fetch just one satoshi on exchanges. Secondly, it's rare. We are almost halfway to the first block halving, and after that EBT is going to be a lot harder to come by. Thirdly, PoS rewards are going to start at the end of the month, and when they do, what do you think is going to happen? Everyone will be rushing to grab as much EBT as they can get their hands on.

Be smart and pay attention to this coin. This one's a dark horse. Most PoS coins have very high quantities; a billion+.

Not EBT.

^^^ Very good points, those of us mining right now are smart to be doing so.  Others will jump on the train once it gets on a large exchange, no worries.

You may also want to consider allowing people to add coins that are not yet on exchanges....they may not show a btc/usd/eur value but that could be plugged in once they're added to an exchange...

Automated hourly snapshots would also be awesome.   Shocked

Site is looking real good guys.

A couple questions...
Is the difference between current and old price 24 hours time?
Where is the pricing information coming from?  If using multiple exchanges can you list in the portfolio which is being used and possibly add the ability to manually choose an exchange to pull the price from?
How often is the price data refreshed?
How often are new coins added?

One thing that would make the site easier to use would be the ability to use API's from other sites to bring in balances so those can be managed automatically and offline wallets can be managed manually.  Just my $.02.

I also noticed the values for BTC wealth extend past 8 decimal places.

Do not listen to any of these morons posting their links to cloud hashing sites...WASTE OF MONEY....you're better off buying btc.
631  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: SHA 256 vs Scrypt on: February 10, 2014, 08:56:22 PM
with this you do these two things together

Yep, if you want to waste energy.  Those are absolutely NOT worth SHA mining with...you'll get far better results using them for scrypt only.

Note, you need to redownload the blockchain AFTER you've added the addnode or you'll have a checkpoint issue.

if i put dualminer in a reddit search there is alot of posts saying these things die in hours of usage, is this true?
or is it a trick for people not to purchase them?

I've had 20 sticks running since Tuesday without issue.

So it's going to cost over $1000 to get 700Mh/s?

That's $98 x 10 plus a hub.......seems like a lot just to save power for a while.

Actually, you save on power forever...
