Thanks for sharing. Do you know when "Life of Bitcoin" will be released. It should have released in November 2014 :/

unfortunately no, according to beccy and austin's twitter (https://twitter.com/lifeonbitcoin) they posted a facebook update in march.
(no fb account here, so i didn't care about it as it's the poorest way to release updates imo)
since they mentioned to work with a publisher it got really silent around their project.
compared to similar projects it's really a joke how long they are taking to release, esp. regarding the 70,000$ funding via kickstarter 2013.
In August 2014, they said it's nearly finished and they are applying for several festivals and thinking about distribution models. (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bitcoinlife/life-on-bitcoin-a-documentary-film/posts/961563)
From my experience this can take up to one year, but in fast evolving bitcoin space they'd be better off keeping marketing phase as short as possible because the shown content will already be obsolete on release. (as seen before with 'rise and rise of bitcoin')

it's a shame that the movie will probably just turn into another melancholic flick for bitcoiners about the early stages instead of reaching mainstream audience.
i saw so much potential there but i doubt they will show footage about the recent progress.

thanks to knight22 for the update and Troublesome96 for the cudos Smiley

Huge thread, but would appreciate a special "introduction for noobs" list of documentaries where easy-to-understand and entertaining documentaries are listed specially to show to newbies and get them interested in BTC world.

good point, when i have some free time i'll start making a newbie-friendly list and start a new thread (perhaps on the beginner board).

Thanks for maintaining this Documentary thread hlynur!   Grin

This is a great resource to start for any newcomers trying to grasp the ins and outs, the good and bad, of how Bitcoin works and where we might be headed.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Documentary on Bitcoin - Summary Thread on: April 05, 2015, 03:12:59 AM
Just released- Bitcoin:  The future of digital currency financial systems.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw3PhMFm8tQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player
(Length 87min)

Not bad it is worth waching, very long introductions at the start, a lot of big US government names. They also go into the history of gold/USD prices among other interesting facts thats that some people may not know.

Strange that in the description on youtube it says published 2/4/15 but a lot of the prices they quote are wrong for today, like LTC @$11 per coin, i haven't seen it that high in a long time, must have been filmed some time ago, can anybody update as to when this was filmed?

thanks for mentioning that talk again,
i listed it last year under the talks/conferences/interviews category:
(vid was uploaded on the official youtube channel)
Bitcoin: The Future of Currency? - Discussion @ Atlantic Council (Apr 2014; length: 87min)

sidenote: The Atlantic Council is a US think tank and lobby organisation controlled by former high-ranking politicians, ex-military brass and global enterprises.
It's aimed at establishing contacts to governments in the transatlantic area and influence economy, politics and security to its interest.
Going through the row of involved people, governments and companies, this organisations looks like one of the top influential networks in the western world.

update: small changes on the list...deleting some outdated stuff or dead links...

personal recommendation:

"Princes of the Yen: Central Banks and the Transformation of the Economy"
 (UK 2014; length:93min)

stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5Ac7ap_MAY
site: http://princesoftheyen.com/
imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4172710/

Quote
“Princes of the Yen” reveals how Japanese society was transformed to suit the agenda and desire of powerful interest groups, and how citizens were kept entirely in the dark about this.
Based on a book by Professor Richard Werner, a visiting researcher at the Bank of Japan during the 90s crash, during which the stock market dropped by 80% and house prices by up to 84%.
The film uncovers the real cause of this extraordinary period in recent Japanese history.

some interesting interviews with Richard Werner (Mar 2011):

I wonder if any new documentaries will come out about BTC that document the downturn in prices that we have seen over the last year?   Most of the pieces that I have seen only show the meteoric rise that we say over a year ago.   I am bullish long term, but I do like to see both sides...

I'm sure all projects which started during 2014 will cover that downturn to some extent, if they want to be taken seriously. Nothing's worse than one-sided advertising flicks...but people should have realized by now that btc's financial value is highly speculative.
the whole process of film-making is simply way too slow to still be up to date on release when covering such a fast evolving technology.
After post-production the marketing part to get bigger publicity (advertising, festivals, publishers, DVDs etc.) can easily take 6-12 months for a feature-length movie until the premiere.

"theBITmovie"

2 Guys. One car. 30 Days. 40 Cities....All Bitcoin

so far they upload daily recaps.

"Life on Bitcoin" is unfortunately taking its time (way too long imo  Undecided), so this one looks like it could give a nice overview how btc adoption is currently doing in the US.

Maybe use Puush, it's also a nice screenshot tool.

thanks, i'll give it a try.

imgur bypasses the proxy, so that might be why you're experiencing it only on imgur.

didn't know that, then i'll better switch to another service in the future
20  Other / Meta / Re: pics on imgur not showing in post on: December 25, 2014, 01:46:22 AM
The thumbnails look OK to me on the entire post, without any Proxy Error image.

In the governmental hearing section I can see 5 pictures for USA, 2 for CANADA and 1 for FRANCE.

thanks for checking, must be waterfox then...just switched to chrome and everything's fine.
