Whoa, what happened last night? I haven't been looking at the charts the last couple days. But I had a bids fill in the 460s and 470s.... I guess some forced liquidations? Anyone know what started it? (Bitfinex)

i picked up something about margin call cascade on tradingview chat:

depends on the danger for what...

if we go for animals killed by animals i'm sure humans are top of the list.

I always stick with browser plugins like ghostery/noscript.
malwarebytes & spybot S&D + ccleaner to keep system in shape (all free).
from my experience a virus always needs a careless user to execute it.
be cautious with download sources, email attachments and external storages esp usb sticks.
For a more secure environment throw linux on a second partition to boot from.
i'm no expert but i'd say linux on VM doesn't help much if your computer is already infected.

and finally i make a fresh install of windows at least once a year, depends how littered the system gets with the time.
If your setup is more complex with many types of software a mirrored backup of the partition with the virginal system is also quite handy.
(in case your fed up with hour long installations of adobe suite et al)

@austriabitcoin
excuse my sarcasm, but comparing working conditions of today with those in concentration camps in nazi-germany is a bit far-fetched imo.
unfortunately that still depends where you're living on this planet  Undecided

As always with a technological shift - no matter what source it comes from - every society has legacy problems which influence conditions of adaption and future sentiment of the masses will determine if and how these will evolve.
our monetary system has a long history and therefore a lot of centralised influence to transfer the current status quo into the digital era.
if you don't want to be a spoonfed lethargic "slave" consuming what he/she gets praised by massmedia everyday...
well, thanks to the internet you have much more options today than ever before in human history to educate yourself, choose wisely what you support/consume with your hard-earned money and spread your knowledge.

Same thing goes with blockchain technology...if it would be implemented as financial ledger on a neutral breeding ground voilą there is your solution for a free and transparent utopia without banks and cronyism.
(never underestimate the aftermath when human nature had a go at it though   Wink)
The established distributed powers try to shape, control and restrain its public benefit in their interest until it's finally adapted by the masses.
Important thing is this uneven process will provide new opportunities for those who make the effort to take the route less travelled by.

Would you have said internet is work of the devil during the 90s because its source is a project by ARPA of US Department of Defense?
Although it allows the state of a transparent citizen when using certain hardware/services, the web also provides access to more tools than ever to prevent this from happening.

technology is neutral and humanity will always add the two sides of a coin...it's everyone's personal decision what you make of it.

Posting nsfw pictures in this forum is against the forum rules right?

You are welcome to report a post you think is objectionable. I don't think nudity is against the rule as long as they don't get into explicit pornography. Personally, I prefer to leave at least a little to the imagination.

he, i've deliberately asked grue to mark thread NSFW a while ago.
original nude photography is often more tasteful than the usual stuff on the web with fake tits, hills of makeup and excessive digital rework.

119  Other / Off-topic / Re: What kind of mouse you use and do you like it? on: August 07, 2014, 04:33:20 PM
whats the point of getting an expensive one when it does nothing more than what a 5$-10$ mouse can do..! I won't pay extra just for looks unless it really provide something worthy.
Still using Logitech that i got with my system.

depends on what you're doing with it.
i'm working a lot with 3D software/Adobe Suite and with a good ergonomic mouse i'm able to be a lot faster and more precise.
plus i don't get cramps or hurting wrists after hours of clicking. (tendinitis is really ugly while working on a project with strict deadline)

sure they are expensive, but a blacksmith also wouldn't buy cheap tools if he has to use them everyday.
