141  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin long confirmation even if txconfirmtarget=1 on: September 10, 2018, 10:47:12 AM
Got accepted now? Maybe you have sent your tx just when we were waiting 40 minutes for new block to get accepted.

Yeah now is OK, but I thought that if normal+ fee is set, then it should be confirmed in 10 minutes max.
Now I understand that's not a usual case.
No it's not 10 minutes max, but 10 minute on average. You could also be "lucky" and 3 blocks would be accepted within 10 minutes.[1] This does not depend on fees but on a mathematical problem which needs to be solved by all computers/miners in Bitcoin network. As soon as they find a solution block is accepted. It takes 10 minutes on average to solve it.

[1] http://prntscr.com/ksnhd0 3 blocks got accepted in less then 3 minutes.
142  Economy / Lending / Re: Long Term Offers on: September 10, 2018, 10:37:08 AM
How come you want loan in BTC for purchase IRL? Isn't that a bit risky? Especially long term loans.
And you also probably pay more fees then you would by taking FIAT loan.
If question is too personal don't bother answering, but I was just wondering if there is any benefit from taking BTC loan (except of course price fall, but this is then speculation which may also backfire).
I'm quite young, so I don't really have a credit score, and I never got a credit card. Had a couple family members max out credit cards, and promised myself to never get one. Sticking to my debit one, haha.

I can't get a loan IRL, so trying bitcointalk.
Oh okay. I hope you understand all the risk involved in BTC loans (if bull run occurs meanwhile you may owe 10% more every day). And because of this I think you should look for other options.
Since the amount you're asking for isn't too big you can get some friend of yours or family friend which will lend/invest into you. Of course it will be a lot easier if you need this money for some business or smth like that which will generate more money then you borrowed.

If you still want to take loan here on BCT try this board. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=88.0
Good luck and be smart!

Interesting, I really wonder now what will happen with first those BTC's.
What if... Satoshi sells all BTC and BCH and buys Monero. Shocked
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: September 10, 2018, 09:37:35 AM
I just posted this in the speculation thread, but thought i'd share it here this one time in case there are speculator who don't venture to the Ann thread.

Anyway, I put out a general Monero newsletter to fill the void after Monero Observer left off.

I'll do my best to put something out weekly.

Check it out here -

Awesome, thanks a lot! Please keep us updated here on BCT and if you will need anything don't hesitate to ask. I will try my best to help you. Smiley
BTW I think a 2 week report would be also good or is there enough things to write about every week?
145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A fun infographic explaining blockchain and Bitcoin. on: September 09, 2018, 10:52:55 AM
Thanks guys!

Translating it into multiple languages is a great idea.

I'm going to start working on that.

Nice job. Let's keep people educated and let them understand blockchain technology.
If you are still thinking about translating, I advise you to put .txt or some other text file in here (add it in OP). I will be happy to translate text to Slovene.
146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why exchange wallet so high fee on: September 09, 2018, 10:47:08 AM
Hello guys,I tried to withdraw ethereum from poloniex and BTC alpha..soo high fee's I withdraw 0.02 ethereum and  fee's is min.0.01 ethereum? So no choice I withdraw even the high fee almost 50% from may balance. I need gas to send more tokens ..but still confused why so high it is normal or due to blockchain congested that's why?
Hi Dhanems,

Many exchanges have competitive trading fees but then hit you on the way out with their withdrawal fees. I understand your concern. In order to help people experiencing the same issues as you, we have created an EXCHANGE LIST where you can compare withdrawal fees. It is available here: https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchanges/. As you will see when sorting in the list based on the withdrawal fee, there are even exchanges charging percentages of the withdrawn amount as their withdrawal fees. The highest "fixed fee" not being a percentage is charged by CoinsBank who charge a ridiculous 0.005 BTC when withdrawing BTC (regardless of how small the BTC-amount you are withdrawing is).

We have also created a revolutionary tool we call THE EXCHANGE FINDER that lets you answer 6 questions on what you require from a cryptocurrency exchange. The tool then matches you with the exchange(s) that best matches your answers, free of charge. There is no corresponding tool anywhere else in the crypto market. The tool can be found here: https://www.cryptowisser.com/

Stay safe out there and look out for the bad guys!

All the best,
Cryptowisser
Very nice website. I like that question part at the beginning which filters out totally unappropriate exchanges.
Do you happen to have any announcement thread here on Bitcointalk to track your progress?

149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spells of Genesis - Innovating the Game Economy with BitCrystals (BCY) on: September 09, 2018, 09:59:34 AM
bcy has to be deleted from bittrex, that would be very nice in order to see the real value.
But coin also need some liquidity. I think I know what you want to say but still every coin need an exchange. How else are people supposed to get it? What you're saying is similar to: "Book of Orbs should stop using BCY in order to see it's real value." Of course it's value will fall immediately.
If for example we look at gold. If it wouldn't be traded everywhere then it's price would fall and also value. I think liquidity is giving things value too.

151  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which Bitcoin is Bitcoin? on: September 08, 2018, 10:02:32 AM
There's only one "Bitcoin" and the ticker is BTC. This is universal across all exchanges so if you're buying BTC on an exchange then you're indeed buying the original bitcoin created by Satoshi. Also, if you check coinmarketcap you will see that BTC is #1 by market cap and volume because it's the first cryptocurrency, tried and tested.
I don't know why (probably because this is kind of universal "rule" for currencies) but Kraken uses XBT ticker.

a handy guide somewhere that lists all the different variations of bitcoin that are out there?
Here is one https://www.forks.net/list/Bitcoin//1/2017-01-01/2020-01-01 But I assume there are many more forks of it. It just wasn't so popular until previous year. For example if I am not wrong I think also Litecoin is a fork from BTC and many others. Just search google if you want to find better list of forks.
But don't bother to much with this forks, practically anyone can make it's own copy, meaning it's worthless unless some kind of consensus develops around a coin (miners, trades, users, holders, devs etc.)

There is only one Bitcoin and this is Bitcoin.
Bitcoin core is a software, not network.
Quote
Bitcoin Core is an implementation of bitcoin. Initially, the software was published by Satoshi Nakamoto under the name "Bitcoin", and later renamed to "Bitcoin Core" to distinguish it from the network.

If I want to purchase "Bitcoin Cash" I am supposed to purchase the ticker "BCH", that much I have figured out. If someone wanted to invest in the original bitcoin vision of the "Satoshi Nakamoto" person(a), which symbol am I buying? What if I want to purchase the vision of the folks who want to modify the original bitcoin which I understand is called "Bitcoin Core". Which of these am I buying when I am buying "BTC", and what is the ticker for the other version?
bitcoin = BTC (original blockchain)
bitcoin cash = BCH (the forked one)
I don't know where your confusion comes from.
153  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance Founder, Zhao Changpeng Interview! on: September 07, 2018, 08:38:30 AM
That's a confusing article. Started good but completely lost it's point until the end. Is this shill for FCoin or what?
Also title is pretty misleading. I couldn't even find link to interview in this article, I was expecting interview in this article. It just quotes CZ in one paragraph where he talks about this FCoin.

155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 07, 2018, 08:07:27 AM
monero certainly still has a good future, because monero is one of the coins that big investors are interested in,
but the votality of monero is very high, because this coin is anonymous
Why do you think it's anonymity causes volatility? Can you elaborate?
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: September 07, 2018, 08:04:24 AM
This recent drop isn't because people are selling XMR but because of Bitcoin's market price changing. Monero is looking good overall with minor drop which happens due to panicked selling. We will always have people among us those react emotionally and panicked to each increase or decrease. This is crypto land.
Whats everyone opinion in the long term of crypto market? looks like the bear market is not over yet?
I personally am pretty bullish. You never know, maybe yes maybe no.

Will monero be the next bitcoin when the bull market returns? looks like atcoins and bitcoin follow the same trend, either up or down
I doubt. Bitcoin is still known far more to general population then Monero. But in the future you never know.

Whats the best way to store monero? Is it ledger wallet? also best way to mine monero? solo mining or joining the pool?
Probably safest ways to store Monero are Ledger and paper wallets.
Probably better to join the pool, since you'll need a lot of time and some luck to get reward on solo mining.

157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: September 06, 2018, 02:24:08 PM
So, I'm setting up a ledger wallet using this guide https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/8op6cp/ledger_cli_guides_requires_cli_v01220/

It requires me to get fully synced before I can setup it up on ledger. Will I need to also sync in the future on ledger or is it one time thing? Also it doesn't seem like typical ledger wallet and I'm not even sure if it does smth for my safety. basically I need to know, is there any benefits of storing monero on a ledger?
You can also use this guide for setting Monero wallet on Ledger with GUI: https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/9901/how-do-i-generate-a-ledger-monero-wallet-with-the-gui-monero-wallet-gui
You only need to download whole blockchain once, then you only need to synchronize it (download newly added blocks). So if you do this regularly then it won't take more then couple of minutes.
Sure benefit is very big as your private key is safely stored on Ledger and never leaves it. So this is the safest option for storing crypto at the moment.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin ATM is increasingly widespread? on: September 06, 2018, 02:17:29 PM
This is the first time I've heard about ATM bitcoin, a new player like me can only think that because of its benefits it has a big influence on the bank that investors have sent their money. This virtual currency and may be willing to invest as needed, does not this seem overwhelming?
Majority of BTC trades are made via banks. But for privacy matters ATM is far better solution. But you pay some extra fees because of this.
As already said with competition fees will get lower, also with development of blockchain (LN for example) will decrease cost of fees dramatically.
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and actually selling/buying with it on: September 06, 2018, 01:52:30 PM
I just stumbled upon a post where a guy is selling an android tablet for X amount of BTC and thought "ya... thats some risky stuff right there" and realized actual reasonable usage of BTC isn't so far away.

Think about all of the devices coming out with NFC capability. Combine this with a quality, proven app on say android/iOS and you have a good replacement for cash/paypal for in-person transactions. There is no specific worries about trust, as it is just as risky as a cash/goods handover in person and what address someone is using is not an issue either, as the apps would store all that information automatically and transfer over the appropriate info when the 'bump' is made.

What do you guys think? To me, this sounds pretty sweet and something that could reasonably become a possibility.

The most important question is:"How we will stop all the scammers, who will try to abuse the system?"
I would say that the merchants(or the trading platform) will have to offer:
1.Refund option.
2.Buyer/sellers review/ratings system.
3.Dispute/arbitrage option.
Well,services like Openbazaar offer those features,but Openbazaar isn't that popular(probably because it's a software,not a website or an Android/iPhone app).
You have same problems when using FIAT. This is not currency problem. But scamming people.
This might be solved even better using smart contracts, since you don't have to trust any 3rd party in the process.

To OP.
Of course it is very good alternative to FIAT money and all the processors which you have to use in order to make online purchases. But right now there are still few problems for this - relatively high fees, big volatility and user experience (simplicity). I believe once trust in FIAT will fall people will start using BTC/crypto more as a currency - for real purchases.
160  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bullish outlook for BTC - will it last? on: September 06, 2018, 08:01:51 AM
The cryptocurrency market is f***ing pathetic. One piece of bad news sends it into a tail spin towards $0. Can you imagine if this news hit a fiat currency like the EUR or USD? There would be absolutely no change in valuation. Imagine if there were 3-4 of these bad news in a row? It would probably send Bitcoin down to $1,000, knocking 90% off the market capitalization. Can't wait to get out of this pathetic market.
Isn't this perfect for traders? They earn with volatility.
And I highly doubt few bad news effect would sum up. The only one selling because of the news are those who are new in the market. I think I would only sell certain currency if a news about exploited blockchain would come out, or something like that - technical problem.
Anyway good luck with your exit and see ya in next bull run. Wink
