I received a friendly message from marcotheminer, offering me a free bit-x debit card, because he saw me ranting about a competing product (ANX Premium) and its lack of EMV chip.

I was tempted at first because I saw on the photos that the Bit-X does indeed have an EMV chip, which is crucial if you want to shop at any POS in Europe, but the excessive fees turned me away.

I'm looking for a card to use on a daily basis (gas, groceries,...), so paying 0.01 BTC Bit-x commission + 1% Mastercard commission + 2.5% exchange fee (CHF currency) for every POS purchase is just too much (as opposed to 0 BTC + 0% + 1.5% with ANX).

That's right, I offered you a free card since you didn't seem pleased with ANX's.

Mistake me if I'm wrong but can't you pay in EUR in Switzerland (I assume you live in Switzerland since you mentioned CHF)?

I'll pass your recommendations for lower fees onto the team, keep in mind that Bit-X needs to pay their fees too!

What is defined as activity to keep the card active without having to pay the fee? Do you actually have to spend something or make a withdrawal or could you just check your balance in an ATM or something?

You must make at least 5 ATM withdrawals/POS transactions or have a balance greater than 5BTC onsite.

Likewise with any other bills (be it electricity or water), the fee is subtracted from your balance. So, yes, it would keep deducting money for inactivity fees. I doubt people will just forget about a debit card.

It is available to use in the USA; cards can be shipped there as long as the user isn't a US permanent resident (or citizen).

It will be announced as soon as the US has full access to the card.

If I don't use any electricity or water I wont have to pay anything. I also don't get any fees at all with my regular debit card. Many people will probably get sent this card from the promotion and barely use it or not use it at all once they realise the fees, and these could soon build up. How easy is it to cancel?

Note that any of your on site balance types (BTC, LTC, USD, EUR, GBP) can be used as your debit card balance.

Yes but your regular debit card doesn't offer you the possibility to spend directly from your crypto balances. I'll let you know about cancellation.

True, but with all the fees etc it just doesn't seem convenient to use in my opinion and would be easier just selling coins for cash or a regular topped-up debit card when needed. I'd have no problems with owning or using a card if there wasn't the inactivity fees but wouldn't be worth the hassle for me. It'd be nice to have in my wallet to use if needed but I personally wouldn't use it that often so isn't really viable for those types of users.

Shipping starts tomorrow. It should take anywhere from a few hours to a day or so.

True, even I mentioned this before that Bit-X should actually think upon the fees as they will be charging BTC0.02 per withdrawal and will also charge just to check out balance. These ain't the charges we normally face with our local cards, and taking into consideration MasterCard taking more than 5% already in withdrawal fees, I would draw Bit-X's attention towards this once again to please think over it again and do something for the fees matter...

That's the biggest thing that bugs me and stops me from wanting to own one. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

With a balance of 5BTC or more or the equivalent in your LTC, USD, EUR or GBP balances there are no inactive monthly fees. This combined with no monthly fees for the first 10,000 users gives you monthly fee-free usage.
