^No, people are just leaving because this round is ridiculously long.

I'm curious if that is a rational thing to do.  Is there some formula one can use, where after spending a certain amount of time with a particular proportional pool, that it's time to hop to another pool? Or, is it simply psychological?

There has been ongoing talk about the currentstate of the Pool in the IRC channel

Quote
For the past two weeks BitClockers mining pool has been under an "Attack" by a very large botnet and over the weekend several more large botnets have joined in flooding our servers with get work requests on the order of thousands of requests every second and never returning any work. This severely drains the resources of the server and adds nothing to the hashing power of the pool. It is effecting the quality of service to our users and drains much of the time from the pool operator. Currently the bulk of man hours is spent defending the pool from the ongoing attack. We would rather be spending time on building up the pool and adding features.

Is there some reason my miners keep cycling on/off every 5 minutes now?

They weren't doing this earlier today but now they mine for 5 minutes, run out of work, disconnect from server, wait 20 seconds and connect again and continue working.

I don't know if this is my end having a problem or if something is happening at the pool server that is causing idleness and disconnects.

This is my first day doing 600 MH/s at BitClockers. I've been around for a few weeks but was just playing with CPU mining until I got my 5830s set up.

Running Phoenix 1.48 on Ubuntu with 11.6 drivers.

Any ideas?

The contest for August has started!
We'll be giving away an ASUS ATI Radeon 6970 Direct Cu II Graphics card to one lucky winner in the pool.

You do not need to enter to win.  You must have a valid email address tied to your mining account (when you created it) and submit at least 1,000 shares in the month of August.  Every share submitted between 8/1/2011 and 8/31/2011 will generate one ticket.  Therefore, miners that submit the most shares over the month will have a better chance at winning.  Shares and tickets will be aggregated by account and not by worker.  You are free to use and create multiple workers.

On Monday, September 12th, we will draw 3 tickets with a random function in the #bitclockers irc channel.   Tickets will be drawn using the python random function.  The other 2 tickets are backups in the event the winner does not claim their prize.  We will post a list of workers and ticket numbers for inspection about 48 hours before we random the winner.

The winner will be announced at the time of drawing and then be notified by the email address supplied with their account.   Winner must respond within 5 days with a valid mailing address to receive their card.  If we are unable to contact the winner via email their prize will be forfeited to the next winning ticket holder.

The drawing for this month's contest will be held LIVE Monday, September 12th 2011, at 6:30pm PST in our IRC channel. You can use the Live Chat link at the top to join us.

You can find a list of worker shares and ticket numbers for the PREVIOUS month's contest here: http://bitclockers.com/files/workerticketsjune2011.html

it was in response to a post I had made but I thought I deleted it before anyone read it.

I think for the past 5 min or so I am having issues connecting to the pool and the web site.  Is anyone else or just me having troubles?
