@devteam. There are new feature with POS consisting of delegating stacking power to an address without having coins in. That's a huge security improvement for staking.
One can sign offline the delegation tx to an address and use the created address to stake securely without exposing coins to the network. Do you see what I feature I'm describing ?
We should have this.
Hello Sardokan, Thanks for your input. This is not a new idea. There are quite a few approaches and discussions elsewhere about staking delegation. If you could cite your particular source, we could have a more detail discussion about it. In any case, this is something that will impair decentralization and we need to think carefully. Peter

If you could cite your particular source, we could have a more detail discussion about it. In any case, this is something that will impair decentralization and we need to think carefully. Peter I'll try to find some sources. It's mostly work and discussions around nxt ethereum and peercoin. The issue with POS in my opinion is to have the private keys controling coins online. Mi goal would be to have an address controling my coins, in cold storage. Use it to signe offline a tx granting the weight of my stack in an address that can sign to secure the network but can't move the coins As long as the coin are still in offline address unmoved. The other address can stake. The purpose is not to delagate my node to a web wallet. But have offline storage. I can see the centralisation danger. But if we (big holders) continue to run our nodes and stake. Even if small holders delegate. I think it should be ok for decentralisation and security. Thank you so much for your comments. Glad to know that you won't delegate. However, we can't simply assume all other major holders won't do it. If your source came from nxt or peercoin discussions, I knew about that already. While we shouldn't underestimate the centralisation risk, I fully understand why you want offline storage and would like to see a lower-risk approach to address your concern. Just FYI about the current situcation, in case you may not be aware of, our new v1.5 client does have some security fixes implemented to help reduce the risk of putting coins online. In particular, our v1.5 client now has timing-attack resistant that can avoid RPC password attacks. Of course you still need a strong combination of RPC username and RPC password, as always. Peter

Guys, EnergyCoin is now on Reddit. As a start, we want to make this subreddit a backup of this bitcointalk main thread. When this bitcointalk forum may occasionally goes offline for a few days, the community can still meet and communicate on Reddit. In longer term, we can make this subreddit our second home. Peter

This is a new page for EnergyCoin. Now we have a fixed PoS block reward of 5 ENRG. And as we also remove acceptance of PoW block, EnergyCoin is now a Pure PoS coin (finally). Have staked a few blocks after the fork. Will continue to stake. Wallet is smooth. Well done. Thanks for stopping by and your appreciation. Guys, OP has been updated with the current spec. In addition, I received a message asking about the slower inflation after block 2.1m. Since there is nothing confidential, I prefer to answer here publicly. As you guys may also see, new coins are now being generated at a slower pace. How slow is the coin distribution now? It'd be approximately 2880 new ENRG coins per day. I must say congrats to all holders investing in this coin, because it won't have any more massive and fast new coin generation after block 2.1m. Peter

Nice job Sardokan. Hope that we will see more old members coming back. For those old members who haven't loaded their ENRG wallet for a long time, please be advised to download the blockchain data from our Energycoin Bootstrap Server. This will help you to sync much faster. And as Sardokan also pointed out, there are really lots of code improvements and security updates during this period, you guys can check all the details here: https://github.com/EnergyCoinProject/energycoin/blob/master/README.mdPeter

Guys, It came to my attention that CoinWallet.co has been hacked and is closing soon. Please withdraw all your ENRG coins from CoinWallet.co before May 1, 2016.According to their announcement, there was a bug in their code that failed to block unsanitized user input submitted to their database. You guys can assume all passwords and usernames are already compromised. Therefore, you are strongly advised to change passwords on any other websites where you use the same password and username as Coinwallet.co. And it is always recommended to keep your coins in your own wallet instead of putting them on other websites. That's what crypto is all about, and you should "Be Our Own Bank". Peter EDIT: link to CoinWallet.co is also removed in the OP.
