i downloaded the energycoin wallet, but it says Wallet (out of sync).
The version is v1.6 (it says in the "help" -->"About Energycoin" section)
also is it safe to hold it in bittrex during the fork?

Yeah, im wondering too. First why does energycoin even doing hard fork, and what does that mean for this coin? I'm also keeping energycoin on bittrex. Should I do something? Is this similar to BTC and BCC? I would apreciate if there is some kind soul to answer this questions. Thanks in advance.

Welcome by our EnergyCoin community!
I shall explain why we need a hard fork for EnergyCoin.
It is not the same as BCC for Bitcoin but we have major improvements that a hard fork is needed.
The new version of EnergyCoin support EnergyParty!
EnergyParty is a decentralized exchange that runs on top of EnergyCoin blockchain.
Bitcoin has CounterParty and we cloned for Prove of Stake EnergyCoin.

Your profit can vary because about 40M ENRG is online 24/7 and only if you are online you can find a block.
So the interest is about 3 x 0.8% = 2.4 % for 24/7 online wallets.

You'll need to put addnode info into the EnergyCoin.conf first.

According to Jan, Bittrex runs already the new version. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1028941.msg20841443#msg20841443. But for me, I don't recommend holding coins in any exchange.

I did not advertise anything.
Just decided to clarify what income I can get from Energycoin coin.
But thanks to detailed calculations from crypto4jan, I saw that for me it is not so interesting.
But each investor has the right to decide for himself what is more profitable for him from the point of view of investment

When you get more intrest then there is also more inflation.
I tried Hyperstake and Snowball but then is too much inflation and coin shall die.
In the beginning of a currency a high PoS reward makes some sense but for EnergyCoin it is not.
Okay you need a lot of ENRG to get PoS reward each day and that we want to change.
We have the intention to stake the Foundation coins and with that stake we want extra attract people running a master node.

But first all the old pre v1.6 wallets have to update their client to make a stable network.
There are still 13 wallets running v1.5.1 but the majority is running v1.6.0 and also the most coins.
After the fork all old wallets disconnect automatic and these users have to update asap you can't send to Bittrex or other users your ENRG!
Don't wait for the last day because you will miss your possible stake rewards.
There is no support for pre v1.6 wallets after the fork.
If you have problem with update Peter will help you.

No change in the block reward after the hard fork.

It will still be 5 ENRG per block. Don't worry about it. We like the static POS reward too.

We work on that but when we present we also feel obligated to make it happen.
Now we made two proposals in The Netherlands for blockchain energy application and in two week we know if we get the job for one of them.
If so we shall present the roadmap for that project.
We offer to facilitate realtime green certificates in an energy community.

The other proposal we send in today for city Rotterdam and what we offer I shall share another time.

I also have considered that in past to go that way for EnergyCoin and also fitness business.
But my preference focus is Sustainable Environmental Solutions using blockchain for Geo-Information and Energy applications.
After we have proven application in the Energy sector we also enter the Geo-Information domain with smart asset-management.
These two fields Geo-Information and Energy have also overlap but that is for next year if everting with energy is going smooth.

So that is a kind of a roadmap I work on with people and the challenge is to make it a realistic approach with profit for stakeholders.
