Will someone please explain to me the incentive to running a masternode? Or just why masternodes exist at all?

When someone stakes, the block is sent to a masternode. The masternode alters the block, called "coin mixing" to make the transactions more anonymous. The person who staked the block gets 50 and the masternode gets 50. Since there is less competition among the masternodes, someone with a masternode will get rewarded 50 coins more often than someone who is staking 25000 coins. (At least that is how it is supposed to work, but if there are lots of masternodes and only a few people staking, then the person staking would earn more. But that should not happen. But it could...)

One incentive to running one is it can be profitable. At current price of ~0.00001600 BTC and ~25 shellnodes running a masternode costs about $94 and will earn about $7.5 a day. Not to shabby The reason they exist is for coin mixing(anonymous transactions).

Since its masternodes and a different pos than other % based pos coins?

From DCC thread. Surprised to see this post. Comments? Just wanted to drop in and offer help: I looked at the code and can fix the issues for 3BTC if the community is willing to pay for it. You can escrow the 3btc and when I deliver a working client the escrow will be released. If this is ok let me know. The fix will include a source and windows compile if needed, I will accept payment in SHELL as well.
Great dev! Just offering services to the community!

Any idea why? No clue. Bittrex isn't saying anything so far, maybe SHELL hit some security trigger for some reason and market was automatically disabled.

I just checked, and SHELL chain is running fine, no sign of fork or anything unusual. Will wait on bittrex to explain why market was disabled. Please do not panic, I am around to fix any issue if there is one.

Yep, seems perfectly fine. It's a little weird that it's disabled for almost 6 hours now and not a word from bittrex. :/

Its kinda bs they just disable it like that for what reason? It has an effect on the market I know I went ahead and dumped some coins I was saving for my 2nd masternode on c-cex and wish I wouldn't have now

Well I sent a request asking what was up earlier and got this response.
"SHELL tripped one of our internal security alerts, it is now back online as everything checked out fine."
So whatever that means lol
