Just wanted to drop in and offer help:
I looked at the code and can fix the issues for 3BTC if the community is willing to pay for it. You can escrow the 3btc and when I deliver a working client the escrow will be released. If this is ok let me know. The fix will include a source and windows compile if needed, I will accept payment in SHELL as well.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the dev come back and continue working on shell. Developers have to make money too guys. Most of the time just working on one coin alone doesn't pay the bills, especially with how choppy the markets are.

I would bet that MOST devs are not traders. They code...don't have time to look at charts and stuff.

The post above of him/her offering their services is really a good thing IMO. I am holding, the coins are staking and the blockchain is working....the dev is just focusing on other things to make money...probably happens with others coins all the time.

and am having trouble with secp256k
where do i make it ?

i made it in root.


edit i think i fixed it.

here's my basic process to compile secp256k1.h, first i got it from the git, then i needed to install autoconf and libtool then move the file into shell/src

the step by step errors below are in the code boxes. with the fixes below them

first error was on a server that i have compiled numerous daemons on already

i compiled secp256k1 into ~secp256k1 so then i needed to copy secp256k1.h into shell/src

~/secp256k1/include# cp secp256k1.h ~/shell/src/

I'm not sure if it is too soon. The dev has not been active since May 21st. Wouldn't want to kidnap someone's baby.

I vaguely remember having similar issues but don't recall how I fixed it.

I just checked my source folders and I have the secp256k1 folder as a sub-folder of ~/shell/src.  You could try moving it there and compiling.

i did a minor bit of googling and get the impression we need to link it as a library ?
into /usr/bin i think..

mind you that was hours ago i googled so i could be wrong by now.

I had this problem as well and was ready to scratch my eye balls out.  The fix is so stupid easy it will make you want to punt a puppy.

First delete all you have done and start from scratch.

First build libsecp256k1

make
./tests
sudo make install
sudo ldconfig
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

The last three commands are the ones that make the magic happen.

Next, lets build Shell
I had to chmod my build_detect_platform file soooo....do this.

chmod +x build_detect_platform

make

or for headless

copy /shell/src/crypto folder to /shell/src/obj
make -f makefile.unix

libsecp256k1 is built using autotools:

$ ./autogen.sh
$ ./configure
$ make
$ ./tests
$ sudo make install  # optional

i never did the final make install . lollll
took 60 seconds to finish after i did that

i didnt need to

oops too keen again. compiled shelld ok, but it wont run atm
