Is Holding Bitcoin a long time good way to make money?

Investing is a good way to make money because you are just like holding it by trusting a company that would use to make profits. On the receiving time, you can maximize your earnings by selling it to the higher price. Holding takes time indeed and it is worthy on the right time.

Actually you don't have trust a company for holding, you can just simply use local exchanges for your holding your bitcoins.

But of course, you need to know that it's actually risky and if you plan to do so, you need to have your own hardware wallet.

And I advise for those people that plans to hold bitcoin for a longer term. Make sure that it's not the one that you'll make as main source.

It's good to make this type of investment as secondary or other investments you've got.

I first got bitcoin from withdrawing from gambling sites.  I deposited with another method but could withdraw bitcoin so i did it.  Around that time bitcoin was around $220 usd or so and when i got it, i would then trade it for poker funds from other person etc because I didn't want to hold the bitcoins due to reading about price fluctuations.  However, isn't the value of bitcoin almost always going to go up so its best to hold it?  I know last year it was $600 and the highest was when it was more than $1000 per bitcoin.  But since it is all the way down to $200-$300, isn't having bitcoin always good?  Could bitcoin go all the way to 0 soon?  I had thought hey if you get bitcoin when its $230 when the price stayed like that for a long time, thats great b/c very hard for it to go below $200 because i haven't seen that.  But even if it does, isn't it almost always going to rebound and go back up?  Last time i had btc and it was $230 or so and now it went up to $260.  So if you have say 100 bitcoins... well... thats a nice $3000 profit or so.


I'm sure there are ppl that have thousands or bitcoins right and just hold on to it?  And many that would sell btc immediately if prices go all the way up?  If someone had say 500 bitcoin... then btc price went up $20 in say a week or so... selling it would net them $10000 minus fees right?  However if they sell it via localbitcoins or other method, they are going to get a higher profit right?  However if they do this, say sold all their 500 btc... then once bitcoin later in the year go up another $50... well that would be $25000 less they would have earned.



In general, isn't holding BTC always a good thing since the price of it is pretty low now?  Obviously if you bought btc at $600 or $1000 and thought it would went up and held on to your btc, that would been a disaster.  But since its in the $200-$300 range, isn't having BTC always good?

I could not agree more.  This current dips in price is just a test on the threshold of the holders. Weak hands dump, strong hand hold, faithful hand buy.  We can see developers actively developing and updating Bitcoin with the best possible way they can.  This drama will eventually end, either thru soft fork or hardfork and a possible of chain-split.  After this incident we can see Bitcoin to scale and start  increasing its price again.

It's happening already, the worries are now all gone as bitcoin is starting to get back to the top and as expected the value of ETH and DASH are doing the opposite. To hold for a long time is good but it's very challenging, you need to be fully knowledgeable with the real market for you to still hold regardless of the negative rumors you will hear. Time and time we've seen this kind of scenario but bitcoin never fail to go up every time it goes down.

In my opinion soft fork will happen, and we will regret not investing more when price droped (dont take this as advice pls, I predict on my own risk). ETF didnt really affect price, probably because whales didnt believe it in first place.

Since altcoins and bitcoins are inversely proportional, then knowing that volitality is normal in bitcoin's market would be helpful to make a trader win his trade. If we thou must know how does the market in bitcoin used to move, panic selling which causes negative profit would certainly be avoided.

I don't think ETF don't affect the price of bitcoins because all i see is a big drop of bitcoins price on rejection of ETF but in any way bitcoins will go again and continue soon to rise with or without ETF . So you do trade and it is good as of now because most of the altcoins are being pump for the mean time . So both is good as we hold some BTC to wait and some amount to invest in trade.

Just because you joined bitcoin now, it doesn't mean that you can't make profit out of it. Just wait for any price drop and then buy bitcoins and keep them for year or more, sell at larger price and you get profit. This way will give you profit, but problem is that this way is very slow, so i think it is better to use other ways to earn more bitcoins/money, as they are faster ( such as trading)

I agree but he need to learn how to trade first else if he tried to trade without knowing the basic then there is a big possibility the outcome will not awesome or a probable loss.  Getting profit in trading is easier said than done.  If he has skill, he can offer it and earn or have profit in BTC.  That is safer than jumping into trades without having a knowledge or skill to do so.

Everyone has the chance to start trading without the skills but knowledge is very important as skills can be develop as you trade longer. If you are knowledgeable, you understand not only the coins you are trading but most importantly the risks associated to it. By understanding all the factors affecting your trade especially the risk, you will not manage the risk by just putting a small amount since you are still starting and you are still in the experimental stage, later then when you keep learning you will probably grow slowly until you figure out how to be consistent.

We have the same thoughts. We all know that bitcoin has a unstable price so it's better to hold your bitcoin until it's price to become high. Being patient is of the way to succeed into a long term of waiting. However, we can't predict the value of bitcoin if it will increase or decrease so I suggest you to hold the 50% of your money and the remaining should be invest or to trade.

When it comes to long term profitable investment. it should not be your entire sum of savings because bitcoin is Volatile and when it comes to entire chunk of savings panic kicks in. If the market is crashing even temporarily we sell, incurring losses which we regret once the price rises again. Hence it's advised time and again to invest what you can afford to lose.

If you're gonna take my word for it, I suggest that you invest for a limited fixed time 5 years, 10 years, etc and withdraw your principal. Halving occurs ~every 4 years so you should see more unstable and usually high prices then. You can withdraw your principal once profit is sufficiently high

After the decision that ETH was disapproved was announced, there was no sudden big drop in the price of bitcoin. What caused this huge drop in the bitcoin price is the Bitcoin unlimited thing, AKA the hard fork drama. But right now, we're starting to get back on track because there's no actual market for the BCU tokens at all. The whole thing was just created by FUD, panic sellers, wannabe early investors and so on.

Now the price of BCU is starting to go down, because you know. Not everyone's interested at all. I pity those people that announced how many thousand dollars they invested for BCU.

My humble opinion is that you could make more by trading bitcoin for other alt coins than holding bitcoin for long term. But you will have to get your timing right or else you could lose your bitcoin. For example, if you had bought ETH at a month or two with bitcoin and hold the ETH till now, then you would be sitting with a x2 to x4 times profit.

I do that strategy because i don't have enough bitcoins to keep so i can earn huge profits. I put all my bitcoins in altcoin trading and buy some cheap coins when the price of bitcoin is very high (Since they are inversely proportional) i bought a lot of eth with my 2 bitcoins and i sell them earlier and i don't expect that the price will go even higher but it is alright since i already multiplied my bitcoin by 2 and just waiting for another trading opportunity.
