I am not sure if I am putting this in the right section.

Anyway, what are some of your guys biggest bitcoin losses?  Did many people here loss everything with Mtcox?  For me it is online casinos.  I do have a moderate gambling habit so it was bound to happen.  Cry

I lost quite a bit on securities, every company I invested turned to be scam, bankrupt, incompetents or something I don't even know.

You can check this topic, it has some real horror stories: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576337.0

I lost 0.2 BTC back then investing in "MazaCoin". It was supposed to go to the moon, but it went underground. I held all the way down scare to try to reduce losses right when it would start going up.. I managed to even buy at the top.. what a waste of money that was.

I would think if your dealing with an alternative currency other than what the majority of people are using, because the masses use what is stable, then you are going to see a loss eventually.
Everytime the price goes up and goes down. When it goes down wouldn't you consider this a loss?

My biggest loss is 1.5 BTC on roulette , it's few months ago , and the latest one I lost 0.2 on Primedice. I don't invest in cloud mining or ponzi, so I was saved from other losses.

My biggest loss was not getting into Bitcoin in December 2012 when I first became aware of it.

I've also always wanted to get into a ponzi scheme early, you know before the late adopters get scammed, but could never bring myself to do it.

I guess my loss was time more than monetary, but that time indirectly impacts the monetary side.

My biggest loss was when I was still gambling. I think I've lost 2-3BTC from roulette, sports bet and other gambling stuff. So from then on, I told myself to stay away from gambling.

Two biggest losses come from altcoins and dice gambling. Both inherited great risk, and lost out on 3 BTC total. Not my best moment but I've made it all back through video slots and such. As far as altcoins go, I refuse to give the shit another chance. Practically all altcoins are built to fail, but gain quick bucks through investors along the way.

I am not a type of person who left their money on casino , I will withdraw all my money when I want to stop playing, and deposit again if I want to play. I lost them all in few hours.
I am not a high roller, I bet on black or red only and used martingale , I forgot how many losses in a row till lost them all. I got a lesson, you can't win with martingale unless with huge bankroll.

I have always known what I wanted in the crypto biz, and that has always been bitcoin. So whenever I invested in any altcoins and made profit, I immediately got them into btc Tongue It did help me in the long way, honestly. But I had really bad gambling issues and I lost 2-3 btc in gambling. Ofcourse, I have made up a lot of money in gambling too, more than 10btc so it all equals out.

i lost couple thousand dollars when I forced to buy coins from mtgox at $1100 a piece cause it was the only way to my cash out of there.  I had previously sold at $800 but they weren't processing any wires.  thankfully I got out at all before they went belly up.

Wow. Mostly people have only lost because of lots of gambling.  I have never invested in bitcoin since I am only a teenager and still learning about  bitcoin but I think you can still re gain that amount by more investing and you had fun, which was the point dude!

From the majority of posts here, the only big personal losses here are either because of gambling or because of scams. I know a fellow member who's mining hardware caused a fire in the home. I think that could be one of the most weirdest personal losses because of bitcoin lol xD

over 40BTC on gox and another ~30-50BTC because of amazing preorders in the past, like blackarrow, hashfast, bfl or avalon. after all this mess, I had only paper wallets (and some small portion on electrum) now and I swear to avoid any preorder until end of my life.

guys coming to bitcoin these day don't have idea, how many guys here lost shit of lot BTC, just because it was full of bloody scam. imho now, situation is little bit better, at least there are no HW preorders anymore and community is much smarter and don't believe everything with BTC logo on website..meeh

Gambling is purely based on luck, you have already given the answer that those loss in gambling bound to happen, but you didn't mention how much value you lost, based on that it can be ascertain that your loss is small or big, however couple of weeks before my friend has lost his 0.5 bitcoin while trading with untrusted partner.

I do not gamble , so I was safe from such losses however I'am investing on few projects on Securities , one of them turned up to be a scam (not the manager of the project) but the seller who was supposed to sell us his service . however we are trying to get up on our feets and that's just 60$ Grin so nothing big .

I lost 0.2 on Auroracoin. Do you remember the hipe? I didn't bought on the top but expected it to go up once more. So I still have 210 of them.
Also lost 1500$ on Mtgox. I was stupid and sent them to the site in the last days to buy 12 cheap bitcoins. And then one day the page turned into beautiful white color...

My biggest bitcoin loss was 30 btc when I bought an altcoin for 1 btc then it went up to 42 btc but I sold at 12, so although I had won 11 I had technically lost 30, that was my most stupidest mistake, hence I don't trade now, I only collect coins instead lol.  Angry

Our coin qibuck also lost 15 btc to a scammy Dev, that hurt us a lot as a group..took me ages to recover emotionally and monetarily still trying to cope..

I am not sure if I am putting this in the right section.

Anyway, what are some of your guys biggest bitcoin losses?  Did many people here loss everything with Mtcox?  For me it is online casinos.  I do have a moderate gambling habit so it was bound to happen.  Cry

I lost bitcoin trying to earn some. Concretely I paid some bitcoin to buy hash power in a cloud mining site. I had earnings for two weeks and then bought again hash power (big error because I must earn firstly the bitcoin that has spent) and that week the cloud mining site was hacked (that's the story the owners told) and all my bitcoin get lost.

I lost 0.4 btc (2 x 0.2) in a site which promised to double those. They told that they invested the money in trading and i wanted to try (even i didn't believed them). But the tentation was big and I send the money. The site was gone after two days and with the site were gone even my bitcoin. All I can tell is: fortunately wasn't more.

I've had minor losses, but nothing compared to this guy who I remember hearing about last year:

http://www.coindesk.com/watch-man-confront-ceo-mt-gox-missing-bitcoins/

I think he said he had around $300k worth of btc on Mt Gox.  Not sure if his story was ever followed up on, but I'm doubting he got anything back.

Hmm the biggest loss I can remember is only a third of a whole bitcoin, not much compared to those who were left nothing by the Mt. Gox fiasco. Also the biggest losses I could think of would obviously come from gamblers who are addicted to that thing.

I decided it would be a great idea to move .7 BTC to a wallet, encrypt it and forget the passphrase.......

I remember losing a small amount of bitcoin after playing with gpg and encrypting one of my cold storage addresses, then deleting both the encrypted copy and the unencrypted address keys. Oops. Smiley

Bitcoin losses are part of the game. Of course the idea is to reduce it as much as you can while trading.

One approach could be moving into the alt coin world. They're plenty of those and they easily convert to bitcoin using exchanges.

Alt coin strategies need to be diversified and carefully monitored. They change very rapidly and if you hold a short term position you need to be ready to sell as soon as you feel there is a downward slide (not to be confused with a downward movement).

The best would be to check the daily min-max values and the volume of trading. That gives you a hint on how the sentiment is for the coin.

Of course there's more to it, feel free to PM me if yuo like more information!

The only time I've had any bitcoin losses were because of my own stupidity, most of them which I earned back very quickly, so it didn't affect me much when my btc recovered. My biggest personal loss was 5 btc, I invested in the wrong altcoins. Thankfully, market was going good at that time and I knew exactly how things would be so I traded smart and made 5 btc in 2 weeks by trading only. Shush, secret.

My biggest lost was 0.2 btc which I lost on a ponzi site. Back then, I have no idea that site(cryptodouble.com) is a ponzi. I was paid once when I tried the site but when I reinvested much bigger amount, they didn't paid me anymore until they closed their site

To be fair I have never experienced any loss that would make me really depressed. Sure I had some small losses here and there in the altcoin market but that's about it, the rest has been all securely held until now and I dont plan to change.

never lost a BTC but spent them  Wink

what did you spend them on? Anything significantly costlier/bigger? I have often overspent my btc, on the most unrequired things in the life of a common man. But then again, bitcoin isn't as widely acceptable anyway. The only reason I spend bitcoins are the things I don't want anybody to know it belongs to mine, so my identity too remains anonymous with btc.

For me it was the online casinos. I don't play so much anymore but last year I was going crazy on primedice; I can see how it can become an addiction for some people. I won a few times and thought I could always win. Lost over 1 BTC playing dice.

oops. Yes, gambling is pretty attractive if you don't treat it with a little strictness. Do not feel too disheartened, always feel that one day you will get that money back the next time you gamble, and gamble the money you can afford to lose. Gambling isn't as bad as it seems, its just not that good either. As much as anything involve money Wink

That is exactly what happened to me, actually. I lost $80 to this "cloudminr" site and they claimed they got "hacked". So many of these ponzi schemes are pushed and they always crash. Pays to know, though.

Signatures? How about learning a skill... I don't care either way. Everybody has to make a living somehow.

Everytime we discuss losing bitcoins and scamming is in the conversation, I always hear cloudmining way too often. The cloud mining industry fucked things up for bitcoin so bad, even affecting the minds and believe of bitcoin users when they invest their btc into a cloud mining product and end up getting scammed so badly, most of them losing half of their total savings. That's why I keep my personal money different.

0.12 btc is not such a huge price anyway. Once, a person transferred 2 btc and I thought those were my payments for my services regarding some company I was working for, but long story short, they weren't. I invested all of it on further investments and didn't stop counting money ever since, now the interests seem to drift from money, its all about being yourself and what you do.

I lost somewhere around BTC30 with LTC-GLOBAL (BTCT.co) in 2013, which constituted some 60% of all my BTC holdings at that point of time. I am still cursing my decision to invest my coins in LTCGLOBAL.... Perhaps I got too greedy back then. Anyway... the lesson learnt the hard way. I am not going to invest again in any other investment scheme.

my biggest loss comes for the accumulation of 2 years of gambling off and on primedice.

2.8 btc loss which could of been sitting in my wallet the entire time.

all the loss was from doing 90% bets thinking you can scalp .1 btc a week or something viable.

I agree, and to add, I think it's even harder to get rid of when you are gambling with Bitcoin. I mean it's so easy to gamble by using bitcoins nowadays. No registration, limits, nothing. There are some gambling sites where you don't even have to open an account (I am not gonna mention the names) you just send an amount to the certain address and if you win, your winnings are automatically transfered to the address of your choice.

I was amazed when I learnt all of that and this ease of use won't help gambling addictions at all!

I mean we can shrug it off still since the value is moderately low.

But if bitcoin was like 1,000 per coin, then Id say wow. But still a loss and its painful. I can only imagine if the value stayed at 1,000 that 6 btc would be a 6,000 loss..

the most I lost was like 2.4 btc on 1 roll on primedice and that felt gutted out losing it like less then 1 second.

thats really sucks.

And its a shame you werent able to use it for anything, and something that most people overlook is the passphrase to their wallets as well or knowing to back up the btc wallet file.

I personally lost some bitcoin based on some bad deals by buying hardware from BFL when everything was overhyped.

was it in the form of malware?

My only btc loss was from luckybit and even though I was winning the btc fees of sending to luckybit adds up, leaving me a lower balance. Its actually ridiculous, cause if I remember correctly I paid like .2 in btc fees.

i think you got the metrics wrong.. if its 0.001200? that isnt much.  and it doesnt form a $2 mark value.

Unless you mean 1.200 btc then yeah its reasonable loss.

I did not use btc to buy it originally.  I was trying to move from gold -> btc by just selling on cryptothrift.  I (like a lot of people) got caught up in the dramatic rise occurring.  Someone ended up buying everything I had for sale when the price was up over 1k.  By the time it was delivered AND escrow was released price had already dropped significantly.  Thats when I decided to keep holding (and thus furthered my losses to around 2k).

If youre talking about faucet money then its free money to lose already, so technically you had no loss in the end lol.

But, these stories above me like mine are personal funds. Although you point out not being scammed, theres multiple scenarios that someone can lose bitcoins even if its not scams. Like not having a strong passphrase, to importing a old address, etc.

Its still a loss for the individual despite if he got free money or not.

Its the feeling of the loss and despite the amount may not be as big, it could of been a .1 btc or something that could of been grown further.

Lost quite a bit in the early days when trying to exchange Bitcoins for either a Ukash or Paysafecard voucher.
It was around 100 dollars, learned to look up reviews before using a random service Cheesy

0.07 bitcoin loss due to play in primdice.  very said and until now I fear for playing gambling. Sad

That is surprising. Every now and then, Primedice used to give away free coins, so that their users could play games without risking their own money. That used to be the case when I was participating in the Primedice sig campaign. Not sure whether they have stopped this promotion or not. I haven't logged in to my Primedice account for more than 6 months now.

I am not sure if I am putting this in the right section.

Anyway, what are some of your guys biggest bitcoin losses?  Did many people here loss everything with Mtcox?  For me it is online casinos.  I do have a moderate gambling habit so it was bound to happen.  Cry

I have had a few losses none have been big on their own but when you add them together it does add up to big loss Sad In my gambling day I have lost around 10btc on btc gambling, 5btc not backing my shit up and scammed at least 5btc so all in all not great by any means.

I am still up and in profit over all though just a shame it isn't more because of my stupid mistakes. Yes us degenerates need to cut the gambling out and stop giving the owners all our pocket money Smiley

So many bitcoin companies close down due to bankruptcy that the number of people who invested and lost is probably the same as those who gained on it. I'd say that since 2014 your chances of making money with Bitcoin are less than 50%

yeah that cloudmining site did more harm then good, but it should of been a red flag from the start.

most people ignored the pbmining incident and still invested with cloudminr.io.

yeah but out of what was used, are positive? most players are in the negative and if you break even then I would call it a day.

If you won, then its by pure luck and wouldnt count the odds to continue playing..

not to be a dick or anything, how much do you have left now?
and when you mention elsewhere are you referring to gambling?

Elsewhere mostly refers to a bad investment I made in a couple "bitcoin businesses" in 2013, when the "securities" scene was hot. The founder of one turned out to be a ex-con scammer, basically. The rest was to BTCQuick, owners Jerrod Bunce and Michael McNierney on Bitfunder (run by scammer Jon Montroll), the scammers still owe investors over $50k and 1,000 BTC. Luckily, I had mostly cashed out by then.

Lesson is: Only invest in LEGITIMATE companies (yes, with lawyers and financial statements), and buy a Trezor.

As for gambling, I have gambled millions$ of turnover on sports but am roughly up 1%+ ROI. I put in real effort though to earn that, would advise most shouldn't gamble.

not willing to sum it up cus it would hurt, but i guess the biggest loss was on GPU mining eq.
wasnt able to sell it back as good as i would like to, and most of the cards were in horrible state to even try to sell them.

cloudminr.io is now closed Smiley

sorry to hear that..it has a 10% trust rating in scamadviser

lose at cloudmining, bitcoincloudservice 0.2 (ROI 70%) hashprofit 0.35 (ROI 45%) cointellect 0.64 (ROI 25% )  Cry

no im never trust cloudmining again

lots of people was on a loss streak with them.

it should of been a red flag though since pbmining was doing something similar but just had monthly giveaways that they did without explaining to show hardware.

its okay, a lot of people are attracted to gambling websites, you might have noticed everybody marketing it in the website itself, to gain btc through sig campaigns. Its common, I lost more than 10 btc once and I even quit temporarily but then I recovered it in a couple days and made much more so its okay, don't cry over spilled milk, order that starbucks Wink

Cloudmining days died long before when a lot of scammers entered the market, I never invested in it, but my colleagues did and they are reaping their losses, but its okay. You win some and you lose some, I am enjoying better opportunities I am receiving to make btc, and I am to invest in my on crypto ventures which have a direct impact in our real world.

My biggest personal loss was 0.2 BTC, I bought a digital product and it was legit, but I had a time limit to use it and I failed to meet the deadline.

It was a bad day.

The losses might not look bad, but their impact would be the same to the person going through the losses because he will only reap losses at the price he bought. So in a situation where I had a loss of 2 btc, I suffered a loss of 2400$ because I bought it at 1200$/1BTC. Meanwhile, a guy who bought 2 btc today only went through a loss of 400$, so yeah. Losses are losses, I don't cry over spilled milk.

If dip is what freaks out someone then I think he should first learn about bitcoin A to Z. this is a very basic fact about not only just bitcoin but the whole digital market that it bears a volatile nature which means there will be fluctuation including positive and negative ones, from time to time. This is the essence of bitcoin that its price changes the most allowing to gain tremendous profits.

The only time I've had any bitcoin losses were because of my own stupidity, most of them which I earned back very quickly, so it didn't affect me much when my btc recovered. My biggest personal loss was 5 btc, I invested in the wrong altcoins.

Well I have not bought bitcoin yet but I know friends who missed the opportunity to own huge amount of coins when bitcoin was very affordable.Today most of them have regretted big time for not enrolling on the bitcoin opportunity when it was presented to them way back in 2009.Now all those people are serious and want to own bitcoin.

i've lost money with bitcoin.  Part of dealing with any sort of new technology is to manage risk, so none of my losses were crippling or particularly unexpected. So among the ways that I've lost money:
.. MtGox owes me about USD 200.
..i've probably lost on the order of a few hundreds dollars over the last month trading bitcoin.

I am not sure if I am putting this in the right section.

Anyway, what are some of your guys biggest bitcoin losses?  Did many people here loss everything with Mtcox?  For me it is online casinos.  I do have a moderate gambling habit so it was bound to happen.  Cry
Maybe some people must have experienced the same mistakes, lost some btc. I think it's not bad because with mistakes we can learn from it. Is losing 0.75BTC a big loss when bet on europe cup yesterday?

I never experience to lose a huge amount of profit but only just a few, let say we cannot handle the pressure in the market because of the volatility so it was normal sometimes to sell your coins at its lowest price because of your doubt if it will increase again or not.

Yeah and since we cannot predict the market of crypto currency that's why sometines we dump our coin because we think It Is the maximum level of Its market or we mean to target that value In order to dump. So far, I don't have yet experience those biggest loose In bitcoin, but I hope It won't be happen on to me In the near future.

My biggest bitcoin loss was around 0.6 BTC only. Let me share my experience. I was so broke by the time I received my coin and I'm unable to transfer it to Yobit because I don't have enough. I waited for my next pay day. Finally, I bought some ETH and transferred my coin to yobit. It only took 3 days for the value to go down by almost 75%. I should have gotten more if I have ETH the moment I receive my coin. I already learned my lesson and this will not happen again. BTW, holding that coin will be a bad decision because of the poor product.

I still remember my biggest losses and it was something that was extreme. I have lost my entire capital in my initial days of trading just because I wanted to earn a maximum profit and I blindly followed the tips given by "someone from the exchange chatbox". It was the worst trade technique and it deserved 100% loss but that period taught me a very good lesson and today, I never invest in anything without doing research and understanding it.

My biggest Bitcoin loss was 0.12 BTC some month ago by sending them to a wrong address  Grin

That's terrible, in my own experience I have been in the state that I panic sell the 20k of my tokens and eventually few days after the price in the market increase up to ten times, and I really regret that part that patience is really a virtue that when you wait you can actually have the best thing to recieve, my parents keep saying that it's fine the money that I've got is enough for an ordinary person like me to achieve they keep my spirit alive even though it was really a regretful scenario for me since I know I deserve a better amount since i have work for that.

Lucky for me i didn't make any big losses. However i always check the address 10 times when I am about to send some coins. There is still some fear when you read the stories about people losing coins for sending to the wrong address Smiley.

It is a big mistake for us to hold such a large amount of money every time we trade. Be careful, look and check the address several times before moving. Many people have lost money because of their carelessness.

Oh my earlier days in bitcoin and investment made me lose to lots of hyip websites

It's normal to incur some loses, you can actually learn from it and do better in the future.

Such things as computers, technology and especially the Internet are able to change our emotional statement. But I am pretty sure even if the bitcoin hits its highest point I would not have tears of hapiness.
I'm sure that happy tears will appear only if you have enough Bitcoin on your wallets to rejoice at the high price that may come in the future. But for today even for me the drop in the price for Bitcoin invite negative emotions, since this price drop affects the entire crypto-currency market .

1 btc on coinx2 last year, i was more reedy i couldn't resist, i was near to made it, but in the end i lost, then other bunch of 0.6 and 0.2 on other random ponzi

not a big deal anyway

one BTC is not a big deal for you? Just amazing!!!

I would never forget a case with that gyu, who (according to the story) have bought a single pizza for 10.000BTC, this is loss...

This how things start in the beginning, since ICO project starts with this price also, it is only that the person who receives this BTC did use this for fun to sell when the price increase a little bit, now all of them regretted to sell it on the early basis, everyone does a regrettable moment on Bitcoin.

The only time I've had any bitcoin losses were because of my own stupidity, most of them which I earned back very quickly, so it didn't affect me much when my btc recovered. My biggest personal loss was 5 btc, I invested in the wrong altcoins.
I am not sure if it can be called a loss but it happened to me a few years ago. I simply decided to sell all of my Bitcoins.Soon, BTC started growing very fast.

i think there is no big or small loss in bitcoin, depending on how much your capital is, my loss was a whole payment on a signature campain i joined, i was trying to convert it but to no luck, it was all forfeited. too bad for the whole 4 weeks of payments, all wasted.

Keep being positive, an attitude that we should have while working inside this business, if we will deal with our loss properly then we will be able to cope up and begin to plan for much better strategy, I once lost the opportunity of gaining a lot when I sold my 1btc for only 1k$ the beginning of last year if I just hold it and wait till today then I might have decent earnings.

Of course the most simple reason for your gambling deposit is the most valid ssebeptir. I can say that as a person who has lost money in very serious quantities over the past few years, you can really save money when you leave the jail, and you have no stress or financial problems.

right, when investing in that place we must be able to control the emotional and must be disciplined to our analysis, with thats ways we will become a reliable trader. but if without discipline and psychological resilience, i make sure you will be destroyed later

I had an experience late last year in sending my bitcoin to an online investment programme which offered 40% profit margin for a 30day plan. Somehow, the investment went bad and we are still in the queue waiting to get our bitcoin refunds. I will just advise that one sticks to an investment strategy that is known to one than sending your money/bitcoin to someone or a so called reputable investment sites.

It's sad, 5 btc is a huge amount but I'm not sure you lose all your money unless  altcoin you bought really collapse and die, one thing you should know that doing cutlose is not always bad dude, if certain conditions allow you to do that. for bitcoin investments, I think the longer you keep it. then more profit you will get...

There was that one time when I felt really down by what was happening in the market when the prices increased but I simply did not have any crypto currencies to sell because I lost most of my coins before when trading and trying to get a good catch, but now I feel lucky just because I am a participant of this kind of business from the very begining and that I still got some BTC when it's value was not that high.

Well everyone has its own sense of thinking and perceiving things. If you are praising god just for the reason that you didn’t have invested in bitcoins, this is little astonishing. Because people are always looking after for bitcoins to just be bought and get themselves richer. Bitcoins are amazing and no doubt in it. People from all over the world are just getting in there and earn money.

BTC wise, I don't think i consider anything a loss since i haven't cashed out my earnings from it. In an altcoin point of view, maybe i lost almost 50 USD per Ethereum. But then again, it's all about not cashing out. If the market dips then your loss is still virtual, but if you cash out then yhat becomes real. For me, i just buy more.

For the time being there may be a lot of people who suffered huge losses because they held their assets. you know I've been holding my asset since January and that means if I do cashout now at least I lose 60% of my money. since many coins have fallen in price by more than 50% since last January. You're right I prefer to hold and keep buying

definetly all of us have a different experience of lossing especialy in bitcoin portfolio, but in my self i experience loosing my bitcoin, when there is a scamming  online transaction, that supposedly i want to buy an item,we have a treaty that he allowed to accept a bitcoin payment ,at first our communication is okey, but when i paid him into his given wallet ,he instantly dissappered  and never communicating again, thats why i said to myself thats its better sometimes to become vigilant.

My personal bitcoin lost is when I lost my wallet. I lost all of my tokens and bitcoins. I feel so down that time cause all of my money are just lost. I dont feel so good. I feel empty and I dont have any options to retrieve my account so I create a new wallet. So I can start again. And thats unfair for me but its my fault

My lost was this first quarter. I'm one of those idiots eho actually pulled out their investments when the big dip happened. That was a loss for me, but the good thing is it's just small alt coins i withdrew. Now I'm reinvesting it to other coins and is getting lucky (hopefully)

Hmm the biggest loss I can remember is only a third of a whole bitcoin, not much compared to those who were left nothing by the Mt. Gox fiasco. Also the biggest losses I could think of would obviously come from gamblers who are addicted to that thing.

Oh, well, I never lost my btc, except the fact that I bought it when the price was higher than now. Besides, I hope that it will increase again and since I didn't sold my btc nothing’s lost.

And this is the wisest position, bro. Until you sell Bitcoins, you do not lose anything at all. We all know that the cryptocurrencies prices will go to the Moon again, and we will see this great event this year already.

Biggest loss for me is from a bitcoin online dice game -1.8 btc and another btc to a cloud mining scam way back 2015..most recent was 0.45 btc to a Pakistani forex  scammer "Tamoor Tariq"..after that i already stopped sending money to others and find a way to earn money online on my own..

I've been in this business since a few years ago. I can not calculate my total loss because it comes from many things like gambling, trade, ponzi investment, and so forth. I also often lose money because it is wrong in choosing the time to sell or get a loss because the investment site to be a scam and the worst when I lost a lot of money about some btc in gambling

Hmm the biggest loss I can remember is only a third of a whole bitcoin, not much compared to those who were left nothing by the Mt. Gox fiasco. Also the biggest losses I could think of would obviously come from gamblers who are addicted to that thing.
Very sad when a large exchange site can be a scam, of course there are thousands of bitcoins lost because of this case and it makes the bitcoin market chaotic in that time, luckily I have not joined bitcoin yet when it happens, but for gambling I'm also get a lot of loses, at least more than 1 btc loss that I get in the past year because of gambling

Not long ago, I received an email that I have the chance to win 1BTC and what I need to do is just to fill a form provided to me. I filled everything correctly with every detail of mine. What was left was to send 0.15BTC to an address provided to me. I was doubting what a manner of give and take was I engaging myself. Before I realized that it was a scam message, I have lost my 0.15BTC. this day was a regrettable day I will never forget.

I haven't heard of that before but I think that is a gambling site. I don't join any gambling sites for I find it so risky so I prefer joining bounty campaigns. So far , I don't have any losses yet because I am still hodling what I have for I believe that I could gain better in the future.

I would think if your dealing with an alternative currency other than what the majority of people are using, because the masses use what is stable, then you are going to see a loss eventually.

I am not high roller, I bet only black or Red and use martingale, I forgot how many loss consecutive lose everything. I got the lessons, you can't win with martingale except with bankroll great. I am not the type of person who leave their money in the casino, I will be interesting all my money when I want to stop playing, and deposits again if I want to play. I lost everything in a few hours.

I've had bitcoin loss up to more than $2000 when I first got to know trading bitcoin and other trading coins like altcoin so I bought bitcoin when it was very high price and after I bought a few hours later bitcoin price collapsed I automatically panicked and sold it. the saddest mistake I've ever done.

indeed losing is a risk in bitcoin, therefore we must be more careful not to lose again if there is a problem encountered in bitcoin.

This case for me wasnt the bitcoin i loss but one of the altcoins. I had quite a number of these coins and monitored its growth. The price value kept increasing by the hour. days went by... i left it thinking it would grow more until i missed monitoring and the price began to fall... it fell so quickly by the time i could sell, i have lost about $2000 worth. I felt broken, i couldnt cry

In early 2018, I lost a lot. The only reason I'm losing money is to believe that the bitcoin price will rise to $ 25,000. But I was pretty shocked seeing the price of bitcoin fall to about $ 7000.

I lost around 0.7 BTC for four different ICO projects in early 2018. I regret that I did not listen to my friend. He realized that at the beginning of the year the price of the crypto market would fall. That is why the ICO projects I participated in were not successful

Yes the biggest personal loss... no comment haha but yes these are all lessons to be learnt so that you do not make this same mistake again. Sure you may miss some opportunities not being as fast with you decisions but that's the trade off.

I am not faced with any loss and this is due to the rules and principles I am following and this obedience of the market rules always lead me towards success and huge profit. It is not necessary and not considering it to loss must in the beginning but is all up to the mind and knowledge of the source you are investing in. leave all those mistakes if you ever performed and start again in the light of market basic rules and for long term so you will never face any loss again.

It is not the loss because I invested much of it, but I do have holding last year that I want to cash out when it reaches the $20k but there is still a hope in my mind that it will be more than $20k until it downed to $18k till $16k, when it became $16k that time I really need money so I don't have a choice but to cash out at low price but still thankful for it.

I am not into gambling. And so far so good. I invested bitcoin and I do gain very small just enough to recover my capital. So I will not call it a loss, though the earning is so small but atleast I gained.

I have lost the largest bitcoin about half the bitcoin, because of gambling.
I feel sad and sorry to have followed gambling and lost bitcoin i have, but i realize maybe it's a risk that i have to accept.
But now everything is recovering, thanks to the investment and trade of bitcoin.

It is true that bitcoin investment and bitcoin joining campaign is much better than gambling because in gambling you will have to face risk and your entire profit will be about luck if you are lucky you can earn good but most of new users inter gambling which is not child play, so at first best option is joining campaigns as with it you will earn and learn at the same time so after being old at crypto you can try gambling as well so risk will almost equal to zero.

In early 2015 I knew Bitcoin trading, I had lost 1 My car. which I sell for trading capital, and finally everything is sold out. all because of the dissatisfaction I had, when I had 3 times my capital, but eventually it was all gone. because I do not want to stop playing.

I think you did not mention how much the value is missing, based on it can ensure that your losses are small or large, but a few weeks before my friend lost 0.5 bitcoin when trading with an unbelievable partner.

I don’t deny you’re your saying as people do get losses in crypto currencies because of its instability in some time but now I am damn sure we don’t see any person who says that I have got loss in crypto because now people have become well aware about the advantages and facilities these crypto currencies provide to them in their lives.

Gambling is risky so if you always do that habit i think it may cause of losses in crypto investment. Many people in crypto are always make a bet for gambling or casinos but they not know that it will bring a big losses to them. That's why some of the project in crypto is not using gambling or about casinos.

Of course it's sad on what you experience, of course this becomes important lesson for us to be careful in putting money, but I suggest to hold bitcoin you have and I am sure that the end of this year can reach at least $ 25k.

My biggest losses so far has been an investment I made in an ico a year ago, I invested 1 BTC and right now the coin is trading 80% below its ico price, if I kept my bitcoin instead I would have gotten incredible profits thanks to the bull market but now I'm stuck with that investment and I can only hope I can at least recover my money before this year ends.

You will get to know so many examples of different persons who suffered a huge loss because of the investment in bitcoin as they were unable to make the right decision and that they were not good at controlling their emotions. I personally suffered such loss last year when I decided to sell my bitcoins and that too at time of dump which then make me learn a lesson that do not get panic in any kind of situation.

Fortunately I'm not a gambler.  Grin
I don't know because until now I personally have never experienced a slight loss and before I make a sale or purchase, I always do the analysis first and wait in a few hours to understand the direction of market movement.

I had my loss when I forgot my private key when I would like to import my private key. It wasn't a big amount but that time when I was really new to Bitcoin was something really unfortunate and I wouldn't want to do that again. At least know, I become a disciplined person.

I had my loss when I forgot my private key when I would like to import my private key. It wasn't a big amount but that time when I was really new to Bitcoin was something really unfortunate and I wouldn't want to do that again. At least know, I become a disciplined person.
Mistakes are one of the best teacher beside experience because mistakes will teach you tough lesson and if you are not like other people or the majority of the people who take mistakes as mistake literally but if you are a person which have a mature mind then you will take mistake as lesson and basis for the future actions or decision making.

I am not sure if I am putting this in the right section.

Anyway, what are some of your guys biggest bitcoin losses?  Did many people here loss everything with Mtcox?  For me it is online casinos.  I do have a moderate gambling habit so it was bound to happen.  Cry
I did not yet experience any bitcoin loss. Because i don't want to do online casinos. Because it is so risky to do gambling. If your not lucky in online casino your money will lose.

I haven't any bitcoin directly because I mostly invest in altcoins instead. However, in the current bear market my portfolio has gone down more than 50% so I guess that also counts as a bitcoin loss!

If there was a moment when you were crying over the changes of bitcoin and the loss of money that you experienced from that then I recommend you not to be in this downward market any longer or get yourself together and stay strong.
Actually this is all about your homework before getting in this world of trading or investing. Everyone must prepare himself for the profits and losses as well. Nobody should only consider profits. There are people who are scared of losses so that just become disappointed or disturbed once they get loss. I think this must be done prior coming to the new world and keep your mind strong.

My biggest personal loss in bitcoin is when i don't trade with a plan and i just get into the market look at the coin and put all of my capital to that coin without even searching about what is the possible setup that i can make in order to be profitable to that trade but i didn't do that and i loss a lot of money nearly 80% of my total capital.

I once sold some bitcoins when it was crashing down from $19000. I thought that it is going to collapse completely but I was wrong.
You have no doubt suffered a huge amount of money but I am very much sure that after that loss, you would have never made any such decision of panic selling and that you had hold your coins at time when the market was falling again. This is something which I have learnt too after suffering a huge loss but after that, I never made any such decision which then result in loss of money because of panic selling and loss of control over the emotions.

I think you lose your bitcoin because of your gambling habit. I think I have no big personal loss of my bitcoin. I do not gamble, I do not trade, I do not invest. I just cash out the money I earned. Maybe the biggest loss of mine is that , my bitcoin reached an amount of 50K PH Peso when 1BTC = 960K PH Peso but I did not convert it into peso until bitcoin price dump into 500K PH Peso. That time I realized bitcoin will dump more so I converted it. Half of the amount is wasted. My 50K turns into 25K

My biggest loss is participating in a fraudulent scheme where I lost 1.2 bitcoins. It was my start in cryptocurrencies and a very strong lesson. After this incident my faith in earnings on cryptocurrencies didn't break down and I recouped long ago.

the saddest mistake I've ever done. I've lost bitcoin for more than $ 2000 when I first got to know bitcoin trading and other trading coins like altcoin so I bought bitcoin when the price was very high and after I bought a few hours later the bitcoin price collapsed I automatically panicked and sold it

Since I am a beginner in this bitcoin world and I am not a trader let alone a miner then therefore I have never experienced the slightest loss in this bitcoin because I never made any investments in bitcoin that I did just follow the Bounty available at bitcoin forum this, which essentially I never lose in bitcoin

Losses is part of the game here so we must learn how to deal with the possible changes that we might encounter here. As for me , my biggest lost was selling in the dip. I was badly in need of money a day ago and I was forced to sell some of my hodlings though it's against my will because I have no choice.

It's hard for me to remember all my losses, it's definitely and gambling addiction where I lost a total of more than 15 BTC, and the greed and confidence in the wrong people and loaning them the money, where I lost a total of more than 5.4 BTC, and forgotten wallet passwords and stolen phone with coins  ~1.2 BTC and 1m DOGEs

Should i say its a loss or value reduction? Well i will consider it big loss since i invested in bitcoin. I bought the coin at 5K USD when the coin was at a price of 16k and sold it at out since the market was becoming too annoying. I totally run at loss since i sold my bitcoin when the price dropped to 10k.

My biggest personal bitcoin loss was about .195BTC when my etherwallet was hacked. It was stolen from me because of my negligence. I didn’t able to keep my pinkey in a secure place.
Losing your coins in that way is a terrible experience while that has never happened to me it must be very frustrating that you have done a lot of effort to get your tokens only to be stolen just because you made a mistake at some point and a person without morals took everything away from you, I swear that if the market of cryptocurrencies does not succeed it will be because of scammers and hackers.

Well in my area experience,My biggest personal bitcoin loss is around 0.01 BTC when I send it to my friends wallet address I accidentally did not copy the last number of the address the reason why when I send it he did not recieved the amount because there is lacking number on his wallet address when I send it and I can no longer recover it because it is already sent.

The likelihood of losing a bitcoin is a big risk that I often experience in trading but I continue to be optimistic that in the next few years will achieve success in a way to be patient in the search for profit.

If seriously speaking buddy then I never had any such great bitcoin loss and I wish I never have such loss but here I disagree with you at one point, that bitcoin is a kind of online gambling and I strongly oppose you at this point. Bitcoin is always be a very wise and great investment and there is nothing to do with gambling because gambling is a game which totally depends on lunch but for investing into bitcoin you need to be very wise to have very good profit but yes luck also plays a role in bitcoin investment.

The biggest mistake newbie does in the market is the panic selling as they are unaware how does the market and the price moves they tend to go with the wave and when market is rising quickly they buy at the high and with small correction they fear and sell it. Thus it also brings the price more down.

I only lost few Bitcoin I generated, and ever since then, I have never been involved in any form of Ponzi scheme or cloud mining business in other to vividly avoid strong and future occurrence of such or bigger loss. Probably still considering myself been very timid or fragile in this regard to be loosing what I have over time been generating and accumulating as my store of value, as much as I know there can hardly be high progress without its prior loss/risks in most cases.

Losses in bitcoin are usually due to trade or investment that is wrong because of a mentality, for example the price drops then panic and take a sell position. The position of bitcoin is always up and down, in a graph like a swing. Now the price drops means we can be sure the price will rise. If you don't want to lose, don't play currency (conventional or digital) because in that game if you don't win, you will lose.

If your BTC still exists, you should have made a lot of money in 2017. The price of BTC has risen dozens of times since 2015.

Well, I never lost my btc, except the fact that I bought it when the price was higher than now. Besides, I hope that it will increase again and since I didn't sold my btc nothing’s lost. But, just keep up the good work and have more faith. I believe that everything is gonna be okay in Cryptocurrency. Good luck.

I was supposed to  make payment to someone in bitcoin but I made a mistake by not adding the  transaction fees which was 0.002btc  to the total amount . So I had to send the remaining balance with another transaction. Hence, I ended up paying twice the transaction fees.

My biggest loss also occurred in gambling and it has happened since a long time when the directbet was still standing. Everyone must have a bad experience and my experience is not only on gambling, at the beginning I knew bitcoin I was often hit by scams in cloud mining. Until it happened several times until now I have left it.

Anyway, what are some of your guys biggest bitcoin losses?  Did many people here loss everything with Mtcox?  For me it is online casinos.  I do have a moderate gambling habit so it was bound to happen.  Cry

the saddest mistake I've ever done. I've lost bitcoin for more than $ 2000 when I first got to know bitcoin trading and other trading coins like altcoin so I bought bitcoin when the price was very high and after I bought a few hours later the bitcoin price collapsed I automatically panicked and sold it

The biggest mistake newbie does in the market is the panic selling as they are unaware how does the market and the price moves they tend to go with the wave and when market is rising quickly they buy at the high and with small correction they fear and sell it. Thus it also brings the price more down.

You are right about this that panic selling is the most common mistake that new bees are performing because they do not know how things work in Bitcoin  or crypto investment with other coins like Ethereum and Litecoin which are highly recommended. They realize their mistake after facing with loses and that time they learn to have patience here in the crypto business but they should think about it in the beginning.
Anyone who is following many topics here in this forum will not lose much as most veteran people here are always suggesting how to protect our hard earned money from losses and what are measurements we must take to protect our assets. We need to follow them then we may avoid or skip losses easily.

True, cause there is not always the same that lose is connected to money that we put more than we could take out, sometimes it is based on example like yours and loss cannot be define that we just "lose" our money in cash.

With bitcoin i didn't incur much loss since i just had the funds to actually buy bitcoin shares plus it was on sale. But the losses i incurred most this year is almost 1000 USD loss in Ethereum in just 3 months. Then again, I've been bolstering uo my holdings by buying Crypto currencies i can get my hands on.

My biggest loss in bitcoin is when I did not convert my bitcoin last december when it hits less than 20k $ . i have low rank that time, I save bitcoins I earned, it is already more than 1000$ but I was wrong when I think bitcoin will hit 20K$. Bitcoin starts to fall, I still hold. Around March 2018, I need money , i have no choice I cut my loss. I lost almost half of the amount.

But sometimes I regret when I sell my Bitcoin because in next day's I saw I got to sell. The Changing price rate makes bigger difference . We can not say the fix price of btc .and you are telling it's online casino ! Seriously it's depends on luck (here luck is time and demand)

I didn’t lose much, I only lost my bitcoin when I was a newbie and I have gotten better .when I got in,  I lost about $15 then in hands of scammers, so that’s not much. I felt like quitting though,  cause that gave me more reasons to rule bitcoin as a scam but I later changed my mind and decided to go back into it. Ever since then I have never lost anything till now and I pray that I will never lose anything again.

Per experience, i've lost about 25% of bitcoin's market value at 10,000$. I used that 25% to invest in other crypto which i believe will give me a huge profit from my expected time frame but i was so wrong. What happened is completely the opposite one and its market price keeps on falling even until today.

Man like seriously, did you lose that kind of money (I mean bitcoin)? So like what was the price of bitcoin when this happened? If it’s now ,then you really lost a huge amount of money🤔 unless you lose that back then when bitcoin was at the rate of $10 dollars or so,  cause I can remember that some people here were looking for ways to sell bitcoin for Pizza lol…quite funny.

I have lost around 3 bitcoins in 2009 in the gambling sites, so comparing to todays price, it was my biggest loss in Bitcoin personally, but I would not consider that in that time.

My biggest Bitcoin loss was 0.12 BTC some month ago by sending them to a wrong address  Grin
That's sad......
By the way, I heard that in Britain they are launching a service to return erroneous payments. That's just the name I don't remember, but I remember that in the UK

My biggest loss also occurred in gambling and it has happened since a long time when the directbet was still standing. Everyone must have a bad experience and my experience is not only on gambling, at the beginning I knew bitcoin I was often hit by scams in cloud mining. Until it happened several times until now I have left it.

Thank God, the mistakes of my buddies-gamblers helped me to avoid this risky activity. I trade only but this business also brings losses sometimes. My biggest loss was the sum equal to the price of half a Bitcoin.

I haven't lost BTCs. Maybe some opportunities to get profits but not the tokens. I'm pretty careful about all that and I always make sure everything is under my control.

When you are into gambling, there is a chance that you might end up lossing big if luck is not on your side. As for me, my biggest Bitcoin loss is when I buy Bitcoin last December when the price is at $17k and right now I am still holding it for the hope that it will soon be back at that price.

Obviously, the market prices will increase again because there are people each day that keeps on investing in cryptocurrency which will make the price even higher in the future.

For now there is no increase in the price of bitcoin but in the future expect a good one.
I totally not loss much because in the first place, I came here with zero capital and now I'm still earning. Maybe my biggest lost was when I sold my bitcoin last year right before the biggest pump so maybe I loss big opportunity that time to make more profit but its ok, at least I experience to hold bitcoin and now I am willing to hold for good with bitcoin.
