What I was trying to do is to advertise the advantages of PoB as it is now. If the information provided by @caspar77 is accurate PoB should be very profitable with a ridiculous collateral to put into.
But to be precise we'd need to provide a tool for investors something like whattomine in order them to see how much they need to invest and what ROI they should expect.

Of course I wouldn't like to advertise something which is not, so maybe we'd need to make some test or to recover the statistics that everybody can verify by himself.

Thanks casper77! You can put the text into code tags, beginning with [ code ] and ending with [ /code ] (delete the spaces).

Yep, you got around 5 blocks per day (some days much more, but also some days less), that's at least 1/5 of all existing burn rewards, that's why the ROI is so large. There are ~24 PoB blocks per day (1 per hour, approximately).

This is also a thing I would like to change if the community decides to hard fork (perhaps ending 2019 or next year), to increase the amount of PoW and PoB and decrease PoS blocks. The result would be that PoB would become more attractive, and stakers would be less powerful (but staking would continue to be attractive).

My suggestion, for the signature, if you want to put ROI into it, would be "High Long-Term ROI". That should be true even if there are many "burn minters".

Out of 360 000 burnt coins, i have 200 000 effective at the moment. The last 5 days i was rewarded 1922 SLM.

So  from 23-05-2017 till today i have mint by burn 483 118 SLM. Totally burnt 360 826 SLM, Effective 200 630 SLM decayed 160 195 SLM. Wallet was not open all the time

I was thinking about how we can provide the proof that PoB is convenient and I went up with an idea.

The data that is verifiable independently from our wish is the following:
- the quantity of coins ever invested into PoB (decayed or not),
- the whole quantity of coins produced so far,
- the quantity of coins produced per block,
- the number of blocks reserved for mining,
- the number of blocks reserved for PoS,
- the number of blocks reserved for PoB.

So we can calculate how much coins where produced so far with PoB. And since we know how many coins where invested into PoB we can calculate the exact average ROI of PoB.

If this formula works we can calculate the ROI of PoB for whatever time span we need to and it will be verifiable by everyone.
As with any investment we can't calculate the future, but at least we'll be probably able to tell exactly how the things went in the past.

Anybody thinks it can work? :-)

@johnwhitestar: Yep, that's the way to go, I think. The SPARQL endpoint Graham built (for ACME) with the data of the whole blockchain would provide the necessary data (all PoB blocks, rewards etc. until now) and would make it really easy to search them, however I think it is offline now, and I won't have access to my own copy of that service until October. (SPARQL is a language to make database queries)

The SPARQL endpoint Graham built (for ACME) with the data of the whole blockchain would provide the necessary data (all PoB blocks, rewards etc. until now) and would make it really easy to search them, however I think it is offline now, and I won't have access to my own copy of that service until October. (SPARQL is a language to make database queries)

Because if the above two conditions are satisfied, knowing how much coins were produced so far we can say that they are result of X blocks, n₁ of which were PoB, n₂ of which were PoS, n₃ of which were PoW. So we'd have the exact number of coins produced with PoB. While the number of burned coins is easily retrievable using "slimcoind getinfo" command. So generally speaking we'll be able to tell what was the ROI with PoB over time.

The formula to calculate the proportion was the same since some moment in late 2014 (it was changed once). However, the problem is that the statistics can vary depending on how many users mine and mint.

For example, the formula says that every 4 PoW blocks (a PoW block approximately occurs once per ~15 minutes) there should be a PoB block. However, if there are less PoW blocks because only few people mine and difficulty is high, then there are also less PoB blocks.

- And the reward per block isn't the same for PoB, PoS and PoW?

No, PoB and PoW rewards are relatively similar but are not the same, and PoS rewards are calculated in a different fashion (10% per year as a maximum per stake).

So all one can do is provide some very basic estimations. For something more exact one needs the whole blockchain data, and even then, it's likely the real reward differs from the estimation - above all because it depends strongly on how much people mine/mint.

That's how all (decentralized) blockchains work, in a probabilistic, not exact way; even if in Bitcoin the formula is much simpler (because there is only one type of block/algorithm) it isn't exact.

Another way, with a bit less hassle, is that some "burners" could disclose in a pseudonymous fashion (only with addresses, like casper77 did) how much they earned and how much they burnt in total. If they don't want to disclose their forum identity, they could do it in the Slimcoin wiki at Github, for example (all they need is a Github account, which can be opened with freemailer addresses) or even anonymize their SLM addresses.

What they would need is:
- post their "getburndata" output (shows burn transactions and decayed/effective values)
- post the block reward transactions to the same addresses from which they burnt.
so this can be proven by anyone.
- ideally, they should also indicate the time intervals when their client was online. Otherwise, we may have a "typical use" number but not the total possible ROI if you're online 24/7.

I was thinking the same thing also because I'd like to let the ROI high for as long as possible in order to be able to advertise SLM in the mean time, so it's better I don't add other SLM into PoB smithy.
So if there is someone interested to help with his data anonymously please follow the procedure described by @d5000 and once we have that data we'll be able to provide it to the newcomers as a proof of profitability.

However I think the data provided by @gavrilo77 is very interesting. Practically he made 133% of the initial capital in 833 days and he has still 55% of initial capital left. So he was making 58%/y minting with PoB, while coins decayed were 19%/y. In other words his profits were 58%/y and his losses were 19%/y. So his net profits are 39%/y. And it's not the maximum profit possible, as he hasn't kept his computer always on.
Additional positive aspects here are that:
- there was no work involved with coin minting, the only thing he'd need to do was to invest his coins using PoB, keep his wallet open and his computer connected to the net, while for instance in masternoding one need to do some work: setting up the node, finding a provider, checking constantly if his node is up and so on. So basically he was more in a position of investor and less of the position of worker.
- the profits he has obtained wasn't a short term profits, so there is a good hope he'll go on making 39% of profits potentially forever (if all the conditions remain the same and he reinvests the 19% of 58% gained to cover the losses).

So I'd make the following advertising signature: "Slimcoin's PoB - interesting long-term profitability, low collateral". Does it sound well to anybody?

But I have another doubt to clear. Is it possible that if someone burns a very small quantity of SLMs he'll never receive any reward, like when someone tries to mine BTC with CPU?

When someone buys a business his profits may vary, but he can sell his business as well.
When someone invests into mining he needs to buy equipment and maybe his profits are less than 39%/y, but he is able to sell his equipment anytime.
When someone is masternoding he can sell his collateral anytime and the same with Pos.

With PoB the capital invested is lost forever.
So in order to compare Masternoding with PoB, for instance, we can say that in case of PoB the collateral is recovered in 2-3 years if we consider the 58% or 39% mentioned above and then one begins making profits, the same with PoS and PoW compared with PoB.

Your statements are very correct but again IF. Now imagine that all mined coins are burned or most, PoB would take over PoW and PoS. PoB Rewards would come much often. For mining you can invest in equipment, but you have to pay electricity, maybe after sometime would be failure of the equipment and you never get back your investment and depend of the price as well. With PoB is investing in equipment "worry free". PoS interest is usually small. Personal, i would rather burn   huge amount of SLM and collect the rewards. For instance i am collecting with this diff around 600 SLM per day, hypothetically if all conditions are the same including BTC price, i should get a year 175 $, and that i did not move. Now again IF, if you burn  5mil SLM, you can calculate. I dont want to say you are not right but yes everything is only IF
