Hi, sorry if my questions are already answered somewhere, but could somone tell me if something changes for Shift by moving to Lisk, in other words what is reasoning behind ths move? I own Shift for long time and Im curious.

The reasoning behind this move was the lack of security in Ethereum's consensus algorithm exposed recently and the
ever-present danger of being threatened by hashrate attacks (51% attacks). After our chain got attacked and suffered
a double spend there were 3 other DOS attacks on Ethereum itself, which reassured us that our decision was right, at
least in our case.

This decision will not affect us or our development goals in the long term. Phantom, our content network, will be ported
to the new codebase.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Hi,

Is there anyone that can tell me what part of the road map we are on? also is migration to lisk confirmed and affecting the idea/ long run of shift? apologies for lack of understanding. I invest generously in crypto but only understand the basics.

Thanks,

Zak

We have been forced to diverge from our original roadmap and a new one will be released once
things have settled down, likely within the next two weeks after the swap from the old to the new
chain is complete.

The testnet for our Lisk-based fork is running stable and migration is almost complete.

Any recent developments on this? I like the concept!

Why is market in maintenance on Bittrex? I got 3.5 btc sat here to invest!

Hello and welcome TR8888 !

For security reasons Shift project is migrating to Lisk codebase. Thats why wallets on exchanges are in maintenance.
And the devs and testers are doing big steps in that direction - a stable testnet is up and running for a about week !

From ShiftConnect:
"For the short term we are planning to secure the chain as best as possible while we migrate balances to the lisk codebase which uses dpos. After that we will begin porting the existing developments to work on the new network."

Thank's for useful info. Does dev team paid the Bittrex swap fee?

Yes, we are paying the swap fee from our own pockets. It's a nuisance but a necessary one.

If its going to be migrated to LISK, will it still be minable?

Short and simple answer: No. But you can mint new coins by forging if you become a delegate.

What about the supply, will it be fixed too? Or the foging will create new coin? Sorry to ask before, i just read about the migration and never do a delegate before

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE OCT 01 | MOVING FORWARD

We're looking back at a very hectic, busy and stressful but nonetheless exciting few weeks. Right now, our new Lisk-based
testnet is running stable with the support from new and old community members alike. This means we have our new DPOS
release pending and are currently finalizing the swap details with Bittrex.

Once the code review from Bittrex is done, we will provide them with the sufficient amount of coins to swap balances from
the new to the old chain 1:1. For a limited time, deposits will be re-enabled so you can send your coins there for the swap.

Further details about the swap duration, end of PoW and more will be released early next week (between Oct 3rd
and 5th). As this isn't something we have done before or anyone does regularly we would like to ask you to check
back here often over the next days while we provide updates as the situation is progressing.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask here or join us and 218 other community members on Slack.

Supply won't be fixed, forging is similar to mining and we will have the same inflation as before on the PoW
chain with predefined dates for reward halving.

I'm not sure I understand your question but we forked the Lisk codebase and will release it with our modifications.

I put a lot of my coins into paper wallets. I assume I'll have to do something stupid like send them to bittex to get swapped, is that correct?

Please see these two posts:

Add nodes manually through console
Add nodes permanently to static-nodes.json

Just tried a sync from scratch with 3.1.2 and it worked without problems.

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE OCT 03 | SWAP DETAILS

Swap details with Bittrex have been finalized and our release is currently undergoing the mandatory code
review. During the next 5 days, deposits on Bittrex are open again for you to deposit your coins from the
old chain and get them automatically swapped to the new one. Users with balances on Livecoin don't need
to take any action, your balances will be automatically swapped by us in cooperation with Livecoin. Newly
minted coins after this period will not be eligible for a swap.

We will try everything possible to extend the swap period for 2 more weeks, during which you will need to
get in contact with us and verify your balance so we can swap it manually. We will take a snapshot of the
current chain in regular intervals up to the swap date to be able to verify your claims.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask here or join us on Slack.
