I personally share same opinion with you that if Borussia Dortmund weren't reduced to 10 men in the first half of the game, they would've gotten a better result than losing at Mainz yesterday but because red card is part of football, it's very safe to say that the home team deserved their win.
It was a surprising result that left many people who staked on the game with regrets as majority went with the option of the away team to get a win or at least a draw but since we can't be very sure of the results of our predictions, we just have to accept the result.
