What is the difference between the Original 2 Fan S7 and the current one being sold with only 1 fan?  Is that fan better?  Is this S7 quieter?

1) one less fan
2) maybe
3 ) no

The s-7 batch 16 can be quiet via lower the freq from  700 to 500
lower the fan a bit to 30%
lastly put it inside a flex duct like this

How lonf do you guys think, the S7 will be available until the new (S9 or any other funny number will come up) generation model comes out before, or more likely after the halving  Huh Roll Eyes
Is there any speculation thread about the new model  Roll Eyes

Haven't seen a dedicated speculation thread for it yet, there's been far more speculation as to whether any new generation of chips actually exists in a mass-producable model yet. Looking into the past I would gamble there being an "S7+" or something of the sort. It's a tremendously costly process to retool a factory and bitmain is going to keep pumping out s7 hashboards as long as possible, I'm betting on a couple more batches of the s7 single fans, and then who knows? Hopefully a 4-6 board rig with some small efficiency gains or maybe some lower sound levels.

Always hashing for the community. Oh, and dollars.

Yeah, well, that would be rahter oldschool to come up with S7+ "crappy" miner with the halving standing at your door....

What'll likely happen is Bitmain will seemingly come out with a miner with slightly higher efficiency, but running on underclocked BM1385 chips, just like the S2 and S4s. Amazing how effective Bitmain markets their miners, underclock em a bit and call it a new miner. Ofc it might not happen as the S6 hype was killed by Bitmain skipping 6 and going to 7, but still it's a definite possibility that they'll reuse some 4U rackmounts and use up their remaining BM1385s on some rebrand miners while they begin production on a new miner chip.

Next batch of S7 will have 0, that's ZERO, fans. You will have to buy a fan or two to safely mine with the New Improved 0 Fan Model S7.

Heck if the price was right, I'd gladly add in my own cooling..... so many options I don't know where I would could begin! If things are going well I want to mess around with a piezoelectric air cooler that will bolt onto the intake of an s7, anyone here bothered to dick around with piezos?

IMO Bitmain will not sell a miner with a drastically different design than the S7.  I don't think we will ever see another even series.

Will the S9 ship before the SP50?

I'm like you...  I believe BITMAIN has found the closure they want for future rigs (the current S7 closure) and will design future rigs for that closure.  Keeping the same closure will also make shipping cheaper for those who have the S7 boards and will want to upgrade to the S9 boards.  Especially, once the S7 boards are barely or no longer profitable [depending on your power cost and difficulty].

As for WHEN they come out with a new rig and whether or not it has the next generation chips (16nm), it's anyone's guess.  I personally do not believe we see a 16nm rig by BITMAIN until September or October.

I would be surprised if it doesn't come out very soon after the halving which will make the S7 unaffordable to run in the majority of places in the world with normal (too damn high) electric rates. Maybe there will be a market to sell our S7s back to China with their cheap power!

I think Bitmain will have S9's by then.  However, it may be more profitable for them to replace all their S7's before selling S9's to us.  This is more likely IMO.

If you think S9's will be released shortly after halving; why are you buying S7's?

1. your offer is not very enticing for, i guess, everybody. right now it is too little, later maybe too much. Besides, how could you offer btc without knowing how much btc is worth in a month?
2. I am pretty confident that bitmain will collect money for new gen BEFORE halving. Whether they will ship before or shortly thereafter is open for suggestion.
They will probably ask for something ridiculous again in $$ terms.
3. I am trying not to play this game anymore.

I don't know the name of the next generation, but yes, i believe there will be a new one around the halving.
Because i am selling them to individual customers who will not buy 10pcs from a farm.

To 1. Let's wait and see, the price is a negotional matter. But basically, if you bought the first batches for 5BTC and i am offering 0.8BTC you do not have to sell. If you bougt one of the last batches for around 1.4BTC 0.8BTC isn't too bad i think.
To 2. If they are smart, and i believe they are, Bitmain should offer the preorder 2 weeks before the halving, and start shipping them at the day of halving. I personally believe that they already have the next generation working already, like they did with the S7  Wink

coming summer, in typical hosting even the 2-fan S7 will probably have to be downclocked at some point.

I had a good return with my S3 first batch but not with the S7 as I paid in BTC and the price was low. If I had paid cash it would have been better but ... you never know what it is coming.

I highly doubt I will buy any further Batch 1 from Bitmain. First, the first batch didn't do so great in the past (S3 low hash, S7 low hash) and they overpriced the S7 batch 1. I skipped the S5, I don't remind how good or bad they did with performance/pricing for the first batch.
